    La Galin crêpe

Cute coffee place in Mt. Lebanon with amazing crepes, coffee and sandwiches - been waiting 2 1/2 years to try this (work during the day and parking is tight) and today got the chance. The mocha coffee I absolutely loved. It was as of someone melted a big brick of bittersweet cocoa with some sugar and cream. Rich and earthy flavor, exactly how I like. The crepe was also impressive, with caramel and cream, powdered sugar and apple bits. The woman taking the order was very pleasant, and the people behind the counter thanked me as I left. Do yourself a favor and stop in if you can. Five stars.

I felt the warmth the moment I walked in. They had the most comfortable chair-- I didn't want to get up! The breakfast area and dining space were really nice, and the whole place felt great. The owner and staff were very friendly, and the coffee was excellent. Definitely recommend!

Cute café located in Mt. Lebanon.  Their galettes and crepes are made to order, and they use the freshest ingredients.  Offering both sweet and savory.  They do not take reservations, they are first come, first serve.  Order at the counter and grab a table! They have a coffee bar with delicious lattes.  All of their syrups are made in house! Tried their Sugar Cookie latte and it was magical! Also had their La Benne Resolution which is egg white, spinach, sautéed mushrooms, tomatoes, red onion and tomatoes with a balsamic glaze drizzle. Can't wait to head back and try more!!!

Cute creperie!!! Mel's Petite Cafe is a counter service cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Went there on a Saturday morning and had the savory La Béchamel (ham and cheese) and the sweet Tutti Frutti ( berry mix with fruit drizzle and whipped cream). Both crepes were made with buckwheat and fresh ingredients. It felt like a decadent treat. I highly recommend.

Great food, and service. Mel's Petit Cafe is definitely petite, with a few tables on the main floor and more tables and seats downstairs. It does get cold downstairs but they have some space heaters that patrons can move around. The main menu is on the chalkboard wall, and our group got la complete, la bergere, and la nordique. They also sell some baked goods. All dishes were great, comes with a small side salad and I would get any one of them again. They were all savory, light and delicious. Coffee was also very good. There is only street parking available that is limited.

Quaint little café that serves up sweet and/or savoury crêpes. My choice, La Bergère, was beautifully presented with a side salad. Delicious mix of buckwheat galette, turkey, fresh spinach, crumbled goat cheese, and honey. The staff were friendly and the food came out soon after I ordered. The café is a somewhat small split level but is nicely decorated with more seating than I expected. I'm looking forward to another visit to try the sweet crêpes!

If you're looking for a fun and delicious crepe experience, this place is sure to deliver. It' has a fun atmosphere that feels like an authentic creperie should. The kitchen and ordering area are on the upper level that you walk into though the front entrance. After ordering, we stepped down to the dining area and snagged a table while we waited for our crepes. Ny wife and I shared both a savory crepe (the la complete: Buckwheat galette, egg, ham, swiss cheese) and a sweet one (Nutella). I highly recommend either, even both! The savory crepe was filled with fresh ingredients that all blended so well together and felt like eating a premium ham and cheese melt. The Nutella crepe was everything we were hoping for. Perfectly thin and tasty crepe filled with creamy and satisfying Nutella topped with fresh whipped cream. Highly recommend if you're in the area and even if you're not!

It's my second time visiting this place and love it! They have the best savory crepe (galette, to be more specific) in Pittsburgh, using buckwheat flour and it tastes totally different from the sweet ones. This time, I got La Bergere - Turkey, goat cheese, spinach and honey! Love the final sweet touch of honey, adding dimensions to the dish. The cappuccino is delicious too The place is super cute too, highly recommend!

    Croque monsieur was delicious

I really wanted to leave a 5 star review, but poor business decisions prevented me from doing so. A friend and I stopped in for lunch, as I was searching the area for an authentic Croque monsieur. I ordered one and although it took a little while to prepare and was on the small side, it was still delicious and worth the wait. My dining companion ordered a panini and was very satisfied. Here is my issue...I purchased an iced tea along with my meal. They offered 3 sizes of beverages and I asked if they offer refills and was told "yes", so I chose a small. Why pay for a large when they offer refills. The small iced tea was $3.50 or so, rather pricey for a basic iced tea ( not flavored or infused). I went to the counter after finishing my drink and asked for a refill, I was told there would be a charge. I have never experienced a charge for an iced tea refill anywhere I have dined. This policy unfortunately has cost them my business, as I don't plan on returning. On a side note I asked the server for a straw and she said they do not have them. I inquired why and she said " well you know because of the environment". How is this logical? They have plastic cups with plastic lids. If they are so concerned about the environment why not have paper cups or paper straws. They may have delicious food, but they fail in business department.

I think I initially came here with breakfast on my mind but it was lunch time so went with a sandwich. I got the Ham & mushroom which was good but the sauce just wasn't my thing. No fault of the establishment bc the food was fantastic but just wasn't me at least on this day. I still recommend trying this establishment. There's no parking lot so all on street parking which can be tricky.

Very nice new restaurant and cafe for delicious Uzbek and Russian food. I think they recently…read moreexpanded their menu some more after I already went, but even when I came and tried a more limited menu, everything was quite good. I got to try their Samarkand plov/osh, Samarkand bread/naan/non, Napoleon cake, and the suzma. I really enjoyed nearly all of the items. Starting backwards with the suzma, this was kind of like labneh, the Turkish yogurt dish. Quite good, but this felt a little more liquidy while still being rich. Very strong whole milk flavor. The Uzbek bread is always delicious. They give you a huge piece of bread that is crunchy at the sides and soft in the middle. Perfect for eating any of the main entrees with, especially kebabs. Nice seed topping as well. The Samarkand plot was quite nice too. My first time ever having plov, finally! Glad to try it from this place. They give you a nice serving size. The rice is a little bit oily, and I typically like the rice to be cooked longer (it still had a pretty strong bite to it), but the flavor was nice overall. Savory from the meat, sweet (almost a bit too sweet) from the carrots, and richness from the spices and oil. I really liked that they included chickpeas as well. All in all, I quite enjoyed this place. Probably not my favorite Uzbek in the area, but still, very good. I would like to come back to try some of the other items they added.

This review is long overdue--we ate at Cafe Samarkand a month ago on the first day of Ramadan--but…read morehopefully better late than never. We had a lovely first dinner at Cafe Samarkand. The owner and staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly from the time we arrived until we left, often checking on our experience without being intrusive. They also helpfully explained the menu and the presence of some special treats already on the table when we arrived--there for guests coming to break their fast for that day of Ramadan. We very much enjoyed everything we ate, starting with a Samosa and Shuba (with the awesome translation of "Fur Coat"), and through our main courses of Plov, Layered Uzbek dumplings, and steak with rice. The Plov and layered dumplings were particular standouts for generous servings of perfectly seasoned dishes with complex flavor--seem like they would be particularly great entry points for folks less familiar with Uzbek cuisine. We were too full to eat dessert, but took home some honey cake for dessert. That was reminiscent of baklava with its layers of crispy cake and honey, but also very much its own thing, and definitely something I will be ordering next time, too. I worry folks will miss this local gem down at the end of the Kuhn's parking lot, and hope the word gets out--it's definitely worth a visit!
