Really cool vibe with great live music. I ordered a few old fashions and they were just fine - nothing extraordinary. The noise level was SO loud that we couldn't hear our friends just a few feet away from us. If you plan on coming here with friends, don't expect to interact with them. It's great, however, if you just want to dance or sit in a silence and watch the music. There was a reservation about 30 minutes later and a girl came by and was pretty rude about "reminding" us. Didn't offer to get us more drinks, close us out, or anything. So we ended the night feeling like we were being rushed out of the place. read more

We were looking for a good cocktail bar for date night and decided on The Womack. The interior has that 60's lounge feel they are going for. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. That's about it for the positive. The negatives: when using the restroom unnoticed there was no soap available only hand sanitizer. I asked my wife and she said it was the same thing in the women's restroom. So how do the employees making the food and drinks clean their hands? Another annoyance was the hostess asking us to slide down so she could put a chair between us and another couple for new guests. It would have been better if they just put the couple at the end instead of making us slide our drinks and plates down. I don't think we will be returning. read more

There are better places purely for live music, but this place is not set up purely for live music. It's a throwback lounge, true to form in that it has a small corner stage, an open area for dancing, a bunch of plush booths, a few pub tables and a long bar with a lot of stools contained by a low mirrored ceiling. The twists are that it's also a mixology lounge and the whole thing is augmented by a big patio. I have heard that the Womack staffs its bar with some of the valley's top mixologists. Doesn't take long to notice that when you're there. These people are consummate professionals who know exactly what they're doing and how to work together to truly deliver behind a bar that can be as busy as any you've ever seen. It's impressive to watch. My first visit was for a pre-dinner drink on New Years Eve, it was early (not-yet-a-cover-charge-early) and we were only there for a short time before Ubering it to our next stop. Had two craft cocktails and they were both expertly made and delicious. On this past Saturday night, we first had dinner first at the nearby Fuego Bistro and then walked to the Womack. It was a happening Saturday night - there was a line outside of about 12 deep and a whopping $3 cover at 9:30pm ;). We were well dressed and got in with only a brief wait, paid our cover and then sauntered into the lounge, live music in full swing. The place was slammed, lots of smiles on lots of faces. When I walk into a place and I see everyone having a good time, I know it's going to be a heck of an evening. And it was! Quickly found a single empty seat about half way up the bar for my wife to settle in while I stood. Our drinks came. We were having a great time taking it all in from our spot there when, a short time later, the obnoxious woman seated next to my wife at the bar got into a verbal altercation with a female bartender and after a heated exchange...got herself ejected! So I promptly slid into the pre-warmed seat before any of the other 100 people who wanted it and we camped out there until they closed at 2am. Very much enjoyed the live music alternated with DJ during the bands breaks. Best of all, we had 9 drinks between the two of us before Ubering it home and the bill was a lot less than I expected. I've popped into the Womack a couple of times. They often book cool swing bands and the venue is super intimate, so it's got a great vibe. Out of all the other venues in the area, I think their cocktails are tops. It's not just about getting the mix right. They go out of their way to mingle the flavors and create beautiful presentations. I wish I could explain it better, but I'm not a foodie or a cocktail expert. My favorite there is the Run Runner, which comes with a large sprig of fresh mint and garnishes of orange and something else that looks like a cherry... darned if I remember what it's called, but the whole thing is delish and looks amazing. Last night, I watched the bartender mixing other drinks and he was doing things like running citrus around the mouths of glasses before serving. That may seem like nothing to those of you who are serious posh cocktail drinkers who know other swanky venues, but I was fascinated by the attention to detail he was putting into each drink. To be blunt, it makes every other venue look sloppy. What's more, they don't charge more than some of the other venues. They just deliver more. When we pulled in last time, it was late on a Tuesday and there were only a couple of cars in the parking lot. I literally felt compelled to check the hours online before going to the door because it was that dead. That's sad because it really is a great place. The bartender that night, who I believe was the GM, was incredibly personable and chatted with us as well as others at the bar. He had reggae music playing and talked about some of the other cool stuff they've been starting to draw in more people, like Drag Queen Bingo, which I guess is a big hit and happens once a month. Arguably not my scene, but it sounded like fun. I will be checking the calendar there to look for other events and plan to make it a destination in the future versus just a stop-off when I'm already out. Anyway, this is a great place. This is one of those rare gems in Phoenix where you actually get to see a nice cross-section of our community. Stopped here for drinks with some friends last Saturday night. Though there aren't many places in town that charge a cover, $3pp is totally worth it for some great live music. The band was great, playing songs that had people (including me!) on the dance floor. Even the music piped over the speakers between sets was fun. We lucked out grabbing seats on the patio for our group of 6. The sidecar caught my attention, but ended up being a bit on the sweet side for my tastes- not like the ones my grandmother used to make. I switched to the old fashioned ($10) which hit the spot. I was totally impressed by the roasted seasonal veg. A board with roasted mini carrots, cauliflower, broccolini, and parsnips. You don't often see those last two being served. The garlicy dip on the side was good, too. Definitely would recommend this place for a light bite, decent drink, and fantastic music. read more

I think I'm being generous with giving 2 stars. Me and a buddy visited this place on a Friday night at 9pm. The ambiance of The Womack is decent. Very dim lighting, faux upscale, very small inside, but has an outdoor patio which is cozy. On the other hand, the service is below average. Also the drinks are terrible and over priced. I paid $40 for 3 drinks and EVERY single one of them were TERRIBLE! Because my first drink, made by the unfriendly female bartender was so bad, I asked for a completely different drink the second time. My thoughts were, maybe it was just one bad drink, but the second drink was also gross, which was made by a different bartender. Third time is a charm right? Wrong. I ordered a go to for me - a vodka and cranberry. It was disgusting! How can a bartender ruin a simple vodka and cranberry??? Finally I gave up on trying to find a drink to enjoy the night with my buddy. After ordering 3 different drinks that varied across the board, I knew that The Womack had nothing to offer in this regard. The music selection by the band was also sub par. Hands down one of the best bars in Phoenix. My personal fave. Not pretentious at all- this little bar has amazing cocktails, fantastic service, great live music, and an old jazzy vibe that oozes with soul. It's classy but there is no ounce of snobbery. Taking the place of Chez Nous which sadly closed, you'll find an eclectic mix of people here. The 7th street strip seems to be luring a younger, dare I say Scottsdale/Tempe like crowd, like at the Yard, Bevvy, and the Hatter and Hare, but the Womack, thank goodness still feels downtown while being uptown. Been here a couple of times - at the invitation of people who live in the area. Decent ambiance, limited parking. Not a big place at all. Limited seating options when the small number of booths are taken. Drinks and food are OK - nothing special. Service needs work. Both times seemed it was because of short staff. One bartender and a roving server. Had to constantly get up and ask for service. With all the other great bar options in the area, they might want to up their game. Caught this spot on a quick post dinner drink. Ambiance of a modern speakeasy in Central Phoenix. They had a creative array of mixed cocktails over a subtle jazz backdrop. My bartender lacked on the concept of a neat pour and begrudgingly corrected my request. I hope to give them another try in the near future and continue to support local businesses. read more

Up and down 7th street is home to some of the hottest bars and restaurants in central Phoenix. Genuine Concepts (Little Woody, The Vig, Linger Longer Lounge, Cobra Arcade) has been killing it with these amazing hidden lounges that are popping up all over Phx. The Womack is named after former owners of Chez Nous (an old 1960's music lounge in Phoenix) and is housed in an old building that has been transformed into a cool retro cocktail bar. The atmosphere is dark and intimate, the walls are lined with gold felt wallpaper, the leather booths are large and the bar has a giant reflective mirror on the ceiling. They did a great job paying attention to detail when they put this place together. The Womack has also put their own spin on classic 60's drinks. Some of the drinks include a Gin Rickey, Sidecar, Sloe Gin Fizz, a beautiful Amaretto Sour and my personal favorite - an Old Fashioned. They have live music (funk, soul, and R&B) on the weekends and great prices during happy hour. I love the mix of music they play on the overheard speakers. The food menu is limited but there is a nice selection of appetizers to choose from. Stop in for a classic martini and step into a little bit of Phoenix history. read more

I've come here multiple times and each time we come we have a very good time. The place is kind of a mix of a old school speakeasy meets a hipster feel. Has a nice outdoor patio. Bartenders are on the ball know their drinks and are consistent with them. Nice selection of whiskeys and wines. As a mixed clientele everywhere from mid-twenties to late 50s. Fun time with a good energy and vibe. If you were in this Corridor there are many bars and restaurants that have popped up over the last few years and this is one you should check out. read more

Everything about this place is 5 stars in my book. My friends and I were in Phoenix for two nights and we ended up coming here both nights because A) the service was on-point and personable. Every person we interacted with made us feel so special. The manager even sat and talked with us for awhile. B) everything we ordered was impeccable presented and delicious. I'm craving basically everything on the menu C) the ambiance was everything I wanted in a lounge and more. It felt like Palm Springs in the 60s. And the music was Live and great on both nights. If you would like to be transported to a Mad Men episode, definitely come here. The Womack has an archaic vibes - in a good way- that let's you walk into what feels like a secret '60's-inspired bar. From the classic light fixtures to the vintage wallpaper, everything in the ambience sets the stage for a flashback into a different time period. The menu plays a large part, too. We ordered an Old Fashioned and a Daiquiri, both were delicious, stiff drinks, as well as deviled eggs and meatballs. Both dishes tasted classic, just as they're supposed to. Can't say I'm a huge fan of removing all of the stools for additional seating inside. Definitely one of the better venues that phoenix has to offer. Would give this place 5 stars but the host lied to me. Went in (1/3/2020) at 11PM to meet my parents & she told me cover charge was $3. After she ran my card I looked at the receipt & she charged me $5. I thought I had misheard her but she told the person behind me it was also $3 & I saw her charge them $5. I Immediately crossed off my tip & left it as $5. Other than that the vibe is great as well as the bartenders & drinks. But the incident with the host was very off putting & thats all I thought about the rest of the night. Not sure if she thought I was drunk & could take advantage but it kinda seemed like she was telling people $3 but charging $5 to keep the extra $2 as a tip for herself. I'm really loving this retro, swanky, dimly lit lounge! They have live music almost nightly. Usually featuring some kind of R&B, Funk, Jazz, or Swing type music, it gives you some old school vibes. The deep vinyl booths are so cool and comfy. The walls covered in white and gold vintage wallpaper, all in a beautiful brick building. Even the patio gives me good old school, swanky vibes. The only thing I am not a fan of is the service. The 3 times I have visited I haven't been able to get one smile out of my bartenders. Even cracking jokes they react like robots. I would love a little personality with my fun and funky craft cocktail. I will say that they are not lacking in skills to create a tasty cocktail though. Looking forward to coming back! read more

Holy cow, came in on a Saturday and it was PACKED, they charged us a cover but there wasn't even standing room inside or outside. Luckily they were able to refund the cover, although they had to ask a manager. Maybe stop people from coming in when you're full, stop any fire/evac issues due to overcrowding. read more

My wife and I were hyped to grab some Friday night cocktails. Wanted a mood-lit, laid back feel, and we found it in the Womack -- first time visitors. We fell in love with the place the moment we sat at the old-school, pad-rimmed wooden bar while a Motown-style cover band tuned up in the far corner. The manager behind the bar was quick to recognize new faces. He shook our hands and made solid conversation, like bumping into an old friend. Our drink orders were simple, and well balanced (I had vodka tonics, she had vodka cranberries (or Cape Cods if you want to be that way...)). As we relaxed back and enjoyed our beverages, my wife gave a thrilled smile and said "This is exactly the kind of place I was looking for. We should definitely come here more often." The cherry-on-top for her was that the Womack does Karaoke every first Wednesday of the month -- she LOVES karaoke. We did it. Callooh callay!-- We had found our local spot, a place we'd patron for years to come, AND THEN, the bill came... We hung out there for almost three hours. I had five or six drinks, she had four or five. Our bill, after about 20% tip, was $154.00!!! We've been to five-star restaurants, had three drinks a piece, an appetizer and entrees for about that same price! This isn't some over-hyped Hollywood club you go to to take instagram pics and hope to smell a washed-up celebrity's farts; this is a touched-up dive-bar off 7th Street in Phoenix, Arizona... Come on! Those simple mix drinks should have been $7-$8 a piece tops. Get over yourself Womack! We'll most likely swing by again in the future to check out the Karaoke night. Knowing what we know now though, we'll probably just a have a few beers and a water and cross our fingers we won't need to take a loan out to cover the bill. Eesh... read more

Womack is my new favorite spot in Phoenix. Happy hour is awesome and there is nothing better than entering in to the cold dark bar when it is 115 outside. The place is cool, the bartenders are hot and the drinks are half price. The appetizers are also on special during happy hour and the deviled eggs are amazing. Go slow as these classic cocktails are sure to give you a James Dean hangover if you are not careful. The lounge is a beautiful throwback to Che Nouz and I can quickly see myself becoming a regular. The people that complain about the $2 cover to see the live bands on the weekend should stay home and leave more room on the dance floor for me. read more

Unclear if it's just the day we went, but this "dimly lit vintage bar" was not at all what was advertised. Loud, very overpriced, and kitschy music were the themes of the night. I'd heard about the Womack opening late last year and had put it on the list of places to try. Living downtown, there's no shortage of funky, hipster-y, or classy bars. What the Womack promised instead, as least in my head, was a chill lounge experience with a live band (it appeared to be Jazz vs brass-bandy given the pictures of guys holding saxophones on the website), with nice cocktails. A place to chill, sit down, and listen to some classy tunes; good for a date night. Unfortunately, what we got was an overpriced bar that seemed to not do anything particularly well. The first thing we noticed coming in was... loud. Backstreet boys. 70s disco. It sounded like someone's pandora was upchucking last night's drunken ride home in an Uber directly into our ears. Though that didn't seem to deter a mass of 40-50 year olds occupying the dance floor from getting down in their tshirts, shorts, and sandles. We headed to the bar for some cocktails and ordered a gin rickey and classic martini -- both of which are on their $10 menu; instead, our tab came out to $34 before tip. $17/drink...; it was too loud/crowded to explain the situation to the bartender. Nearly twice as much as advertised on their website. All seats were taken inside, so outside we went. At this point we weren't sure if live music was even going to happen, we had been there about 20 minutes without any signs of a band. Outside seating was more available, but surrounded with smokers. We finished our cocktails outside, and only at that point could we tell live music had started. Unfortunately, it ended up being more of the same -- hokey 60s-90s music. I get that this place bills itself as 'retro' -- but watching the crowd sing along to Michael Jackson made us feel like we were at a karaoke bar instead. At that point... we didn't want more overpriced drinks; we had no place to sit, and the music was getting to be almost offensive, so we left. You could hear band transitioning to it's rendition of "Celebrate good times" as we walked out the door. In the end, I guess this place is a draw to certain people (clearly, as it was really busy), and I could almost see it if I were drunk enough. But for what it bills itself as, I can't see ever going back here again. Would not recommend. read more

I absolutely adore The Womack. My boyfriend brought me here to celebrate my birthday last Friday night and we had a great time. I'll get the bad out of the way first- the drinks were really not good. I've been drinking Amaretto Sours since I was legal (ok maybe before I was "legal", but let's not go there) and this is honestly the worst Amaretto Sour I've ever tasted. Waaaay beyond sweet to the point where it almost tasted chemical if that makes any sense. But for $11, I sucked it down. Honestly, it was really bad though. My next drink was a vodka with pineapple juice and while it was better, it was a little light on the vodka. We got there are 8 and the place wasn't busy but by 11, everyone and their mama was there! Pretty diverse crowd racially but mostly younger people under 50. We sat on the patio since we didn't have a reservation and luckily most of the furniture was dry (we went post monsoon storm), so aside from the humidity, it wasn't a problem. The patio is nice and fairly large and there are speakers out there that allow you to hear the band performing. Loved the Roscoe Taylor band BTW. Mostly because they sang all the old school R&B hits my boyfriend and I know and love. Were all the lyrics accurate? Uh not exactly...but after a few drinks, who cares?! ;-) Anyway, it has a definite "juke joint" feel. I like that! All in all, it's clean, the waitresses are nice, and the bathrooms are MUCH nicer than what you'll get a few blocks away at my other old school R&B hotspot, Chars Has The Blues. I have a feeling this is gonna be our new chill spot...good music and no cover change (when we got there). I'll just have to be forgiving about the drinks! read more
