I have been wanting to come here for years after I heard about their amazing weekend brunch and thankfully, I found myself in the area last Sunday! Sadly, they are only open two days a week for only 5 hours each day, which makes it a bit hard to visit! Nevertheless, it was well worth the drive from Los Angeles! I was able to find parking on the side street right by the restaurant and parking seemed plentiful in the area. There is a gorgeous patio on the street, but I opted to dine inside to stay out of the sun. I was greeted by the very friendly staff upon arrival and they were quick to take my order. I opted for the pancakes, as I was in the mood for something sweet. The pancakes were very delicious and very pillowy. I loved the fruit and coconut whipped cream, which added an extra decadence to the meal. The pancakes were pretty light and while they were filling, it didn't feel heavy in my stomach. The other food I saw being brought out looked equally delicious. The vibes inside were very fun and vibrant and I felt great eating there. The restaurant was spacious but at the same time still felt cozy. The seating was very comfortable and relaxing. The staff checked on me frequently and were very helpful and personable. Payment is by cash, Zelle and Venmo so be sure to have one of those handy! The restaurant is also steps away from the beach and a walkway, so a perfect way to burn off the food after you eat! I hope to return the next time I'm in Long Beach!
Loved the vibe of this vegan place! Went here with a couple friends when we were visiting the area on a Saturday for lunch and it wasn't too busy. I shared zucchini bites and pickle fries with friends, and my partner and I shared the crispy chicken sandwich. I also got a Jamaica agua fresca which was really refreshing. Service was great as well.
Highly HIGHLY recommended - look no further if you're in Long Beach area or, tbh, southern California in general... it's truuuly THAT outstanding. Ambience: pretty much perfection, not too loud, gentle breezy (literally - it's near the bluffs overlooking the ocean in LB ), easy parking, never waited more than 10min at any time of day. The Staff: (( always.always )) on point, chef skills are otherworldly and I've enjoyed exactly EACH AND EVERY meal I've had here. So, g'head & stop whatever you're doing rn and *go.to.here* ASAP - you'// be so glad you did!
We used to get the vegan Monte Cristo and other delights when The Wild Chive (vegan) was a pop-up at the LB Farmers Market (years ago). This was our first time getting to visit their brick-and-mortar spot. Wow! Such a fun interior (disco balls are always a win!) and lots of seating inside as well as some shaded tables outside. The playlist was great! Before we left I went inside to ask about the playlist . They were so great to share it with me! The large kitchen window just adds to the cool interior. We were at Mangiafoglie (another vegan/plant-based restaurant) last night for dinner and saw a poster advertising Long Beach Food Scene Week. As soon as I saw that Wild Chive was advertising a Carne Asada Banh Mi (freshly-baked baguette, pickled carrots, sriracha, cilantro, Fresno chiles, crispy fried shallots, and house-made cilantro-lime aioli + a side salad) I knew that the MR. would want to go there for lunch. This was def the best Bahn Mi that he has ever had! I opted for something a with a little less spice! Oat Milk Berry Pancakes for me! Two fluffy oat milk, blueberry pancakes, topped with fresh strawberries, coco-whip, and dusted with powdered sugar. House-made vegan butter and maple syrup served on the side. Everyone working there was so friendly and had positive vibes!
Food was very delicious and I will come back again to try something different. The mushroom sandwich was very meaty tasting and seasoned great with some delicious homemade bread. The soju-Rita was also very delicious and a great price at $9. My negatives were the service. It was sooo slow!!! They asked if I wanted ketchup with my fries but then never brought it. Unless you flag someone down you won't be helped. The music was also so loud you can't carry a conversation even outside. The seating was also uncomfortable, the bench was straight up at a 90 degree angle and the boards were uneven to sit on.
I've had this spot bookmarked for a few years and I'm mad that I waited so long to try it. The brunch menu was simple and easy to choose from, which I appreciated. The country breakfast and the burizzo were both delicious. I expected them to taste similar, but they both had their own unique flavor profile. The texture on the burizzo tortilla was perfection. Areli gave us great recommendations and fast service. She and another lass helped us get rid of some frustrating hiccups. They tried scaring tactics, mental games and finally a shot of hot sauce, which did the trick. They went above and beyond and made The Wild Chive a new favorite Long Beach spot. The sidewalk seating was very relaxing and dog friendly , very appreciated as well. It's all street parking, but it wasn't that hard to find a spot even on a Saturday at noon. Clean restrooms too!
Wild Chive remains my favorite restaurant since trying it for the first time a year ago. When I'm in town, I have to come once a week. Since going vegan a few years ago, it's been hard to find vegan restaurants that I enjoy, but not Wild Chive. Truly knocks it out of the park every time. Exceptional flavor, diverse menu, and stellar service.
I'm always on the lookout for a good brunch spot, and The Wild Chive totally delivered. The vibe is unmatched--great music, a friendly and diverse staff, and a menu full of affordable, flavorful vegan dishes. Their to-go cafe serves amazing coffee, and the space is super inclusive: dog-friendly, LGBTQ+ friendly, and proudly POC & women-owned. Street parking is available nearby, so getting there is a breeze. My only negative? I wish they were open more often because they're that good! I think they rotate their menu, too--last time I went, I tried their Monte Cristo sandwich, but it wasn't on the menu this time. Still, I'm already looking forward to going back! Food: don't know that vegan food can taste so good!! I love the grilled burizzo, crispy zucchini bites and the French toast!! My top 3. Service: was great!! Staff are very friendly and attentive!! Ambiance: very unique with its mural on the ways with a twist of modern, yet with political view.
I finally got to try this place that I've had booked marked for YEARS!!! The experience was absolutely amazing! The staff was very helpful and welcoming and our server gave great recs. The food was EXCELLENT! I had the patty melt and fried zucchini bites. There are so many options and I can't wait to go back and try more of them. This is vegan comfort food at its finest!
**this is going to be a more collective review as i've gone here a couple times when i've travelled to LB. (biscuit is most recent Dec 2024, while the rest is July 2024). every time i go here, the menu changes a little bit so bit if a bummer when i can't try the same dishes i've had previously. but on the plus side there is more room for variety and new things to try. the chick'n and biscuit is great, bacon a bit tough and hard to chew through but if you soak it with a bit of gravy it'll suffice. montecristo is my absolute fave to order here though, comes with jam and a generous dusting of sugar. it's definitely big enough to share as a small brunch. the space is cute, and the service is even better. great place to get veg comfort meals!
I am not vegan but don't mind a bit of healthy food. I came here for an early lunch with a group this past Friday and was pleasantly surprised. I previewed the menu before arriving, so had a good idea of what I wanted. It was a debate, however, between the country breakfast and bbq chik'n salad. I opted for the salad, as it was one of the newer items on the menu, according to our server. And boy, am I happy I did! The chik'n was very flavourful -- I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce (I even asked for extra). The salad is also tossed with a southwestern ranch dressing. Personally, the dressing was a little chive-y for my taste, so I would have gone a little lighter on it.. but that's OK -- I was able to tone it down with the extra BBQ. We also had some fried zucchini, which was also very tasty. My one recommendation to the restaurant would be to have larger water glasses. I felt like our server had to constantly come over to fill out glasses, as you get about three sips from them. (We had just finished a walk, so were pretty thirsty.) My fiancé and I were looking forward to a peaceful vegan brunch experience and decided to try this spot in Long Beach. The area, as expected, was busy with limited parking, but we found a space and made our way in with open hearts. The host greeted us and quickly seated us -- a kind gesture in what appeared to be a small but bustling space. The menu, accessible via QR code, was quite limited, leaning more toward drinks than food. Still, we chose a couple of breakfast items and a hibiscus drink. After a bit of a wait, we were finally able to place our order. The drinks arrived with paper straws already inserted, which can be tricky if you're hoping to enjoy the drink with your meal rather than immediately. Small detail, but worth mentioning. When our food arrived, it did so in an unusual way. The cook who brought mine made a remark -- "Don't worry, I didn't forget about you" -- which seemed unnecessary, as I hadn't expressed any concern. Tone can be a delicate thing, and while I try not to take things personally, it did leave us feeling a little uncomfortable. As for the food, the banana blueberry pancakes were dry, even with syrup, which was rationed enough that additional servings cost extra. At \$20, I hoped for a bit more flavor and care in the preparation. While our experience wasn't what we'd hoped, I believe every establishment has room to grow. I'm sharing this with understanding -- not condemnation -- in the spirit of feedback and constructive reflection. I genuinely hope this place continues to evolve and aligns its service with the love and intention behind plant-based food. Presentation was nice. read more

We flew in from Miami and found this amazing establishment on yelp and I'm so glad we did. The service was top notch. Pancakes- heavenly buttery and slightly crisp edges with a fluffy center. I was so pleased. I wasn't a fan of the tofu scramble or the bacon but the fried chicken was outstanding. French Toast- just like grandma's. Please get the homemade coconut whip cream. read more
Came here on a whim and was absolutely delighted with this place. The sign out front said reservations required, but we lucked out that they had some space for us as a walk in. A nice variety of vegan food, which all looked and smelled amazing (definitely coming back for the French toast). They also serve cafe du monde coffee. Orders: Grilled burrizo with breakfast potatoes: a packed breakfast burrito that looked like it was pressed with one of those panini press machines. It didn't look like a lot volume wise, but it was! We left with half of it in a to-go box. I really liked dipping it in the chipotle sauce that came with the potatoes. Country breakfast: Texas toast with a vegan scramble that included tomatoes, house made sausage (vegan), potatoes, and cheese. It was so much food and so good! Crispy pickle fries: the favorite of the table. I wish I could have a bucket of these. They were perfect. Couple things about the vibe of this place that made me feel at home: it's super queer friendly, there's a huge mural of RBG, and the people working there are fantastic. Food : 10/10. I've ate here twice and I've ordered the BLT and beignets all the time. So I definitely recommend the BLT. The beignets are also really good! I tried the stuffed French toast and it was DELICIOUS! It wasn't too sweet like you'd expect a French toast to me. It was the perfect amount of sweet and very fruitful! You really do forget that you're eating vegan because the food is that good! Service : 10/10 the servers are nice, friendly, and welcoming Ambiance : 10:10 it's pretty spacious inside with high ceilings. Art is cool! read more
The Wild Chive is hands down one of the best brunch spots I've ever tried! I've been wanting to try TWC for years -- first while they were a pop-up and then as a brick and mortar. I'd never made it to either due to my inability to get myself together and out the door in the morning. This time it was meant to be as we were visiting friends in LBC just a few blocks away. I made a reservation so we didn't have to wait for a table. I highly recommend doing this because it's a fairly small but very popular brunch spot. We were seated immediately, but it took a little while for a server to come by. Though they were pretty busy, our server was still really friendly and took the time to answer all our questions. I chose the grilled burrizo and it was awesome! The griddled tortilla was filled with a nicely seasoned tofu scramble, kale, soyrizo, peppers, onions, and potatoes, and it was served with a chipotle aioli, accompanied by a fresh side salad. The flavors and textures complimented each other perfectly to make it so much more than the sum of its parts. My dining companions were also very pleased with their choices. I had a bite of my husband's country breakfast, and it too was delicious. The chive BLT looked amazing and was packed with avocado slices. I also had a taste of the chick'n and waffles which was fantastic. The coffee was good, the service was friendly, the ambiance was airy and modern, and the experience was excellent! So I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. I started following them on IG first and just said that if I'm ever in town I'll give it a try. So I finally made it to the LBC for work and rode an Lyft from my hotel to get here. I really thought they had more to offer from previous posts I had seen. The menu was very limited, but I tried the Wild Shroom Burger and OMG!!! It was amaze balls!!!!! Like melt in your mouth amazing!!!! I only ate half the burger and saved the rest for later. Even after a few hours and warmed up. It still tasted amazing!! I also tried the soju margarita which was really spicy, but good. Just make sure you have some water. Ambiance was great with good vibes and good music playing in the background. I love the indoor/outdoor seating arrangement. Very nice touch!! Overall I loved it and hope the restaurant can stay open!! I love supporting local businesses!! Especially women owned businesses!!! read more

Chanced upon this cute little spot while walking my dog in the neighborhood. We didn't need a reservation on a Saturday, although the place was a bit packed. We ordered the chick'n French toast, the burrizo, Jamaica and Vietnamese coffee. Everything tasted absolutely delicious! My husband didn't know it was a vegan spot and commented, "wow babe this is the lightest, fluffiest chicken I've had" that's how good their vegan meats were! The service was a bit slow, but that's expected with how busy this place is. I would recommend this place! read more

The food is good the presentation is excellent. Definitely looks like they put time and energy into making it look perfect. I highly recommend a BLT which was really good. We also got the chicken sandwich but I would recommend getting it on a sourdough bread personally. The zucchini fries were excellent, and definitely a must have as an appetizer Service was fine. The waitress was friendly and offered some great suggestions. read more
Probably our new favorite vegan brunch place! We randomly found this place since we were in the area and we couldn't believe we didn't know about this gorgeous place. We tried the burrito and got tater tots on the side, it came with a side of vegan aioli. Burrito was flavorful and I liked the tater tots too, they were fresh. We also got their stuffed french toast which was just the best thing I have ever had. It was stuffed with chocolate, bananas and strawberries. I couldn't believe that vegan french toast could taste this divine. I would come back just for this french toast, and would also love to try other things on the menu too. Service is nice, people are friendly. The first time we went on a Saturday we were able to get in without a reservation but when we went again on a Sunday few week later they couldn't accommodate us so I would strongly recommend getting a reservation. If you are vegetarian/vegan and looking for a brunch place, look no further. read more

It's always nice to eat from an all vegan restaurant. The menu is a little on the heavy side. So if you're in the mood for comfort food, then this is it! I had the breakfast in bed sandwich. It's very hearty. Picked fries as my side and did not regret. Fried zucchini is delicious...especially the marinara sauce that comes with it. I got the beignets...not my favorite. They are so heavy; not light and airy. They seemed to be fried sourdough pieces. However, the house made strawberry sauce was delicious. I'd go again. read more

Freaking delicious! I've had my fair share of vegan "junk" food and this was incredible. Prices are a bit steep but portions are good. Get the Vietnamese coffee. Had the shroom patty melt and blt, both were superb. Highly recommend!! read more

Vegan or NOT!! This place is a party for your tastebuds!! Drinks and food alike all FLAVOR filled!! Music is always playing in the background. You're greeted by a sweet host, servers and bartender are literally all a WHOLE VIBE!! The food is okay. We had a limited menu today. The pancakes were kind of small. The water tastes good. The staff was awesome they're very friendly great establishment is clean. The food took of normal amount of time to come. But the menu all they had about 10 different choices total of everything including the advertisers that you can order. So that kind of sucked. The food did not look like it looked online. Okay experience. Just happy that everything is vegan. read more

My son and I walked in for breakfast one Saturday. Once we were seated, I discovered it was a vegan restaurant. Now, I am not a vegan and wanted some eggs but I decided to stay and give it a try and I'm so glad we stayed because it made my taste buds very happy. We were so full we had to go for a 2 mile walk after that. Can't wait to go again. They have limited hours. They close early afternoon so get there before 2pm For sure. read more
The food was delicioussssss!! Service was also very attentive! I had the Chikin Sammie with fries and the flavors were great. I wish I had taken a pic of it cut open to show you all. I love chipotle sauces so the spread worked for me. Another big highlight was that they had crispy fries! The Chikin was seasoned well and the texture was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I would come back. My friend had their BLT and also said it was good. She finished her meal as well. We just wish the tater tots had something else to make it stand out. Love that they have gluten free options and dairy free options. They serve mostly brunch food and I find that they typically have a small line outside every time I go. 4/5 Monte Cristo with a Belgian Cornbread Waffle substitute The waffle wasn't too sweet on it's own, which left you the option of adjusting the sweetness with the maple syrup and strawberry jam yourself. I also really enjoyed the side salad it came with to cut the savoriness of the sandwich. 5/5 French toast with Belgian Cornbread Waffle subtitute It was the perfect amount of sweetness, with the fresh strawberries and bananas complementing the house made hazelnut spread. Love this place!!!!!! Vegan comfort food yessssss. I ran a 10k & needed vegan French toast immediately. Unfortunately the restaurant is my reservation so we couldn't be seated even though there was a booth open, but whatever, they let me take hard kombucha to go so no complaints. My friend and I ended up taking our food down the street to Gallagher's pub which was a mistake for my liver. However. The food was amazing. My French toast had Nutella-style chocolate in it....and the most amazing whipped cream ever. Strawberries and bananas. It was so much needed. The ambiance is really nice, I wish we could have sit inside here but it's on a nice street by a tattoo place and an Irish pub. We found parking on the immediate side street so pretty much right in front. Parking is usually a battle in this area of Long Beach but it was no problem whatsoever. Place was packed, wish we would have made reservations to enjoy a vegan meal with all our friends. I plan on returning! read more
The Wild Chive is a bright, Vegan breath of fresh air. I didn't realize before coming that everything here is Vegan but even as a meat-eater I didn't miss it. Everything was so fresh and service was off the charts personable. We went with the Chive BLT and the Wild Shroom Burger and both were packed with flavor and left us with enough to take some home. The bread on both just took it to the next level. Reservations are required on the weekends and you don't want to miss this brunch. read more
TL;DR Doesn't matter if you're not vegan, this place is DELICIOUS! I am most definitely not a vegan, but willing to go meatless a few meals a week. This place will satisfy even the hugest meat eater. The food is hearty and tasty. Fried zucchini: I HAVE to order fried zucchini if it's on the menu no matter where I am. This did not disappoint! Crispy short fat spears of zucchini served with marinara and dill ranch. Southern fried chick'n Sammie: The sandwich portions here are huge! The chick'n was hot and crispy, fresh veggies, and the ranch all together was a great bite. The salad side was perfectly lightly dressed with a tangy dressing. Service was so friendly. The interior is bright and airy with exposed wood beam ceiling, so artsy feeling. One downside is parking. Only street parking is available, and depending on what day you go, may be even more limited due to street sweeping happening from 10a-12p on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. AMAZING. I love the fact there's a few all-vegan eateries with brunch options in L.A. County. But this one ... right here... SPECIALIZES in brunch! I've been here several times AND never had a bad experience! it's an eclectic, chill ambiance with great music and activism as a backdrop. I love that! The staff is amazing and answers all my questions! I personally also like watching my food be prepared and there are chefs whipping up specialties through a glass window. I've had the entire menu and I don't think I have a favorite! The pancakes, "egg", "bac'n" are great! I will say the chick'n Sammie is one of my favorite vegan burgers I've EVER had thus far! Their sauces/vinaigrette are fire and made in-house like: hot sauce, [my favorite] the garlic-chive dip! read more
Was so excited to try out this vegan brunch spot! Unfortunately the menu was a little limited than what was online. I really wanted to try the chicken and waffles but their waffles machine was down. Instead we got the chicken and pancakes and the chicken Sammie. Both were delicious and portions are huge! I loved the interior decor - very fun and modern. The menu selection is a bit small but i would definitely still recommend checking it out! Staff and service was wonderful! read more

Service is polite and efficient. The food is delicious and while it's in Long Beach there's definitely parking on a Tuesday morning. Clean and a laidback vibe. My mom and I split the stuffed French toast and burrizo; we both agreed they were yummy. The Vietnamese coffee is really good and with hot coffee they offer oat milk as well as vegan condensed milk which is just lovely. Tater tots are nicely seasoned plus crunchy, served with a great chipotle ailoi. Took some beignets to go and despite eating them a couple hours later I could recognize the freshness, pumpkin cream pairing was top notch. Would return. read more

Six years ago, I've had the honor of being the first to review Wild Chive. After my first experience with them at the Long Beach Vegan Festival in 2016, I've followed them to their various locations including Portfolio Coffeehouse, Made by Millworks, and Marina Farmer's Market. I was excited when they opened this brick and mortar a few years ago and we've supported it via take-out during early pandemic. It took us a while to get around to it but we finally got around to dining in at Wild Chive. In all the years we've been eating at Wild Chive, we've practically had almost everything on the menu. For this particular dine-in visit, we had the following: - Classic Caesar Salad https://bit.ly/3aLoLP5 - Fried Pickles https://bit.ly/3zgeOCw - French Quarter Beignets https://bit.ly/3PknLAa Wild Chive truly never ceases to amaze me! Every single bite, every flavor, every texture, just delicious! I can really taste the thought and care that goes into every aspect of the dishes, even right down to the sauces that make me wonder if it's made from scratch. They have this one hot sauce that has a good kick to it and also good flavor. If they bottled that hot sauce, I would totally buy it. Also, the raspberry sauce that comes with the beignets is just perfection! The staff here is nice. The atmosphere is modern, artsy, and spacious. The restaurant receives good airflow too since it's a corner building and they have a large garage door that remains open during business hours. The location is in a part of Long Beach where parking can be competitive but it's not entirely impossible. Even if we parked a block away, it's a cute neighborhood to walk around. read more

I came to this restaraunt for brunch with my friend and I loved it!! The atmosphere is very laid-back and the service is amazing, they were very attentive & more than happy to answer questions. It was my first time ever trying beignets, they were delicious! Especially with the jam that's served on the side. The Chik'n & Waffles were just as good, definitely a plate best shared with someone else!! Overall, everything was a 10/10 for my first visit and i'll definitely be coming back! read more
Best vegan brunch ever! And I'm not even vegan. FOOD: Delicious and you won't know that it's vegan. - Chick'n & French Toast: Wow, the chicken was fried perfectly crisp and you couldn't even tell that it wasn't real meat. The french toast was delicious, for some reason it still had a creamy texture as though if it was dipped in milk, that made the toast so good. - Biscuits: OMG the vegan butter that comes with this is so good! Best vegan butter I've ever had. - Zucchini sticks were also delicious, very crispy outside but soft inside. - Vietnamese Iced Coffee: Didn't taste like a real Vietnamese iced coffee, but it was still pretty good for being vegan. SERVICE: Great service, food comes out quick, and friendly LGBTQ+ staff. Definitely coming back and trying more food! read more

They have changed their reservation policy multiple times since the brick and mortar opened. And now their phone number doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know if we need a reservation or if they accept walk ins?

Are dogs allowed?
Yes, there were a couple diners with [well behaved] dogs in the restaurant when I was there.
Are there any regular gluten free options?
Yes! They a lot! My favorite is the wafflelito, the waffles are made out of corn! So good!!!
Since they don't have dine-in is there anywhere nearby to sit and eat?
It's a short walk to both Bixby Park and the Bluff.

They used to be at the Long Beach Marina farmers market. They're opening up a brick and mortar in Feb. sometime. Check their IG to keep updated.

Now that they've moved to the farmers market is there still seating or it more like a stand?
Its more like a stand, though there is shared seating with the other vendors
Are there any gluten free options?
Yes! The Chili Waffleito on their breakfast menu, as well as the Bahn Mi Bowl and We Heart Palm Tacos on their dinner menu are fully gluten free.
Hi I know this is a pop up, but is there a certain date when it's no longer there?
They are there every Sunday morning from 9am-2pm and Thursday evenings after 5pm. Follow them on IG for their current hours and specials!
