I really really wanted to like this place. It was easy getting a 7pm reservation on a Saturday night...that should have been my first clue. It was incredibly loud, almost like being at a dive bar. The food was so bland. We got the calamari served with marinara....pretty sure as a "tapas" it should have been an aioli or some other sauce. The carnitas tacos appetizer wasn't bad because it at least had pickled onions but it also had no sauce to enhance the taste. I chose the duck as my entree, cooked medium rare as recommended, but it was so smokey I could only stomach two bites. The risotto is was paired with was so runny....never had runny risotto before, yuck. My husband got the ribeye steak special paired with broccoli and "truffle fries." Ugh where to begin. He never complains about anything but said that it was the most fatty steak he has ever gotten. The truffle fries were the fries you get in a bag at the supermarket topped with thick cheese. No parsley, no Parmesan, no truffle oil. Oh and they put ketchup on the side. I'll say that again...ketchup...with TRUFFLE fries. The sage on the steak was soaked in oil and browned on one side. We each had two drinks without even a hint of a buzz, barely any alcohol and the sage, mint, and fruit that were supposed to be muddled in...were just a few pieces floating around. I won't even mention the dessert because I've had better ones at chain restaurants. I would put this place on the same level as a diner. Save your money and go to another place in Beacon that won't disappoint you. read more

Nothing special. The ambience of the space and sound of the menu are very appealing, but the food is barely mediocre. If you're someone who enjoys dining out for a culinary and gustatory experience, this certainly is not the place. There are many other restaurants in Beacon that serve on that level. Five of us here for first time. Started with s few first plates/- mushroom and goat cheese crostini and andoli sausage-- both good but for no more then 1 or 2. Burger very good with fries, lamb sliders very disappointing. Lots of bread on burger roll and sweet shredded lamb. Not at al what I had before. First, the good. They didn't screw up our reservation. Also, once fully cooked, the food was very good. Especially the butternut squash soup, which was excellent. Now, unfortunately, the terrible. For my sister's birthday, my wife and I decided to take her and her boyfriend for a weekend trip to Beacon. For dinner during this trip, we researched restaurants on yelp and other sites and landed on the Vault because it was well-reviewed and its menu looked interesting. The service we received during our meal was embarrassing. It took well over 20 minutes for us to get our drink order. Our appetizers arrived lukewarm. Our food took a long time to arrive. And when it did, one of our orders was missing. Luckily, nobody had silverware, so it didn't matter. After waiting 10 minutes for silverware and for our fourth plate to arrive, we started to eat. My sister then realized that her salmon was considerably undercooked (we could tell this wasn't intentional because my wife ordered the same thing - cooked medium - and it looked much more properly cooked). At this point we were all pretty pissed. And insult was added to injury as we watched a couple other salmon plates leave the kitchen destined for other tables. In the meantime, our food got cold while we waited and we got thirsty while we waited. We waited for 20 minutes for them to replace my sister's salmon. During that time, nobody came by to refill our water glasses or ask us if we wanted more drinks - so we were a bit thirsty too. After prodding multiple other members of the wait staff, we finally got some service and my sister got her dinner. Our waiter, Brian, eventually came over to sheepishly apologize and told us he'd comp us for two of our drinks. Luckily everyone at the table had a good sense of humor about our awful service. Especially after my sister came back from the bathroom and told us about the the mountain of used paper towels garbage strewn about the floor in the bathroom because nobody emptied the garbage. It was kinda laughably awful. I guess this place is understaffed? I don't know. But for a purportedly nice restaurant, the service here was putrid. We came from out of town, so we weren't likely to come back anyway. But I'm writing this review as a warning for anyone else who thinks it might be a wise choice for a dinner venue. You might have a better experience, but you might not. So good luck! tl;dr - I've never left no tip on a dinner check before I came here. read more

Hosting a friend's bachelorette party in the area this weekend and the nine of us had a lovely experience at the Vault for dinner tonight. We loved the Short Rib Grilled Cheese, truffle manchego fries (the most perfect fries!), Brussel sprouts, everything - all of it was great. Oh, The Vault. My new favorite place in Beacon that I'll be traveling back for in the near future! We chose this restaurant based on Yelp reviews (thank goodness!) and were VERY happy we did. It may look simple on the outside, but trust their recommendations (thanks, awesome waitress Jessica!) and their avant-garde menu. Every dish is full of flavor, and their cocktail menu has a great selection of in-house favorites. We chose what has to be some of the best dishes in Beacon: red snapper with purple potatoes and asparagus; brûlée figs lemon ricotta mousse, crispy prosciutto, and port reduction; and OMG--the seared tuna and sobe noodles (absolutely to-die-for). 5 stars!!! So, so, SO good. I recommend sitting outside, all the way in the separate back patio with umbrella chairs for an extra relaxing touch. Thanks, The Vault! Hope to see you again soon. read more

Stopped in tonight for the first time. Tried some of the tapas and they were overall very good. Lamb burger sliders were our favorite of the 5 different small plates that we ordered. Service was a bit slow but it was packed for a book reading so we will have to come back and see how it is on a regular night. Nice outdoor seating. Parking. We will be back. read more

We ordered several things but nothing was great and the duck risotto was disgusting....crunchy risotto and the fattiest duck I've ever experienced. Way to pricey for the amounts of food served. My friend took me there for lunch. It was too early. 11:30 we got there and were the only ones. I ordered the crab cakes for starters..two tiny crab cakes but for the main lunch I ordered the chicken quesadillas and they came out first. Ok not great. My friend ordered for starters the lamb sliders. It came on a regular hamburger bun sliced in half. That to me are not "lamb sliders", I didn't care for the taste of the lamb. Love, love,love this place. At least once a week I make it my mission to have lunch somewhere in the Hudson Valley that I haven't been to before. The Vault is my favorite spot. My eyes are bigger then my stomach so I have long been a fan of tapas and there are many delicious choices here. Best calamari I have ever had. To be truthful I had determined I didn't like it but the preparation here made me realize otherwise. The only thing is, I still won't order it anywhere else because now I think I will be disappointed. Great service, friendly, likable owner. Interesting and tasty crash cocktails. I work an afternoon shif in the area but occasionally I have a training day which gives me a normal shift with a break for lunch. For years my go to spot was Il Barrilotto but not anymore. The Vault is Beacon's shining star. When you walk in you are immediately greeted by not one but two helpful hosts who let you select your seat anywhere in the restaurant. The space is unique with high ceilings and a mix of industrial and sophisticated elegance. With tin ceilings and brick walls and opposing tasteful wallpaper on the opposite end capped by elaborate and grand egg and dart crown moulding, it lends itself to giving a feeling of ease and enjoyment. With a good dose of vitamin D sunshine streaming into the dining area, you are warmed not only by the sun, but by the impressive selection of unique eats to be found on the exceptional menu. It is not often when you can look at the "Exchange Plates" and pick not less than five that you are craving, but you say to yourself, "Could I possibly eat all of that and get the soup of the day as well?" For beverages, I was given the choice of several local craft beers and chose a very delicious local blueberry draft which went down cold and frosty. It went perfectly with the warm sunshine glowing on our table. Since I was craving red meat and a modest afternoon meal, I chose the grass-fed burger. It rivaled the best burger I have ever eaten. It arrived perfect - medium rare and delicious. The brioche bun was delicious and the fires were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Washing all of this down with my 33 degree local draft beer, I was in a perfect place. Not stuffed, not craving anything more. Did I want a second beer, of course. But due to my driving duties I regretfully passed on the second. Upon leaving the establishment, I promised myself to return and to make it a personal goal to try each and every starter dish and possibly every beer on tap (over numerous visits!). We had a rehearsal dinner for 50 at the Vault on September 29th and the food and service were flawless! Many of the wedding party commented on how they were coming back soon! Our host couldn't have been more generous with the amount of food was offered for the appetizers, including divine fig stuffed mushrooms, and the oysters just kept coming. The beer and wine selection for the group was excellent, and the room was beautiful. The whole evening was a smashing success. read more

Went to the Vault last night for the first time. We went with friends that have eaten at the Vault before. I'll start by saying some of the best service I've encountered anywhere recently. I worked in the restaurant business for years and I'm big believer in good service . Many restaurant owners don't pay enough attention to that but here clearly they are all schooled in the art of being pleasant , as simple as that. From the hostess to our server Kelsey to all the others who checked in when they walked by - bravo to a job well done and for adding to our great dining experience. We decided to go for the small plates tapas route. OMG the fried calamari was AMAZING! We ordered a second. A little spice from the banana peppers in the coating, very inventive and delicious to elevate a simple dish. Lamb sliders - SO GOOD !! Wishing I had some today, the lamb was so tender with a little goat cheese . The flavor shined . We continued with flatbread, crab/truffle mac and cheese (ordered a second), wings and oysters. The only miss was the oysters. It said roast oysters with blue cheese and bacon but I honestly didnt taste the bacon or blue just seemed like a roast oyster with a breadcrumb topping, good but not exciting and not what I was expecting. I couldnt decide on a beer and the waitress offered a taste but I decided to go for a pitcher of sangria whem my friends arrived, also at the recommendation of our server Kelsey . Delicious sangria. Overall we enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service immensely and i look forward to going back to the Vault many times in the near future. I recently stumbled upon this amazing Michelin Star quality restaurant with the most reasonable prices!! From the personal service, delicious and beautiful entrees, to the amazing dessert menu. I went with the beacon rose as my cocktail...the taste of this drink was a perfect combination of whiskey and pomegranate!! This cocktail paired nicely with the two tapas I tried. I had the corn fritters, and the brûléed figs!! The plating was great and the flavor was better! For the entree I went with the roasted chicken...this was by far the juiciest most delicious chicken I have ever had. For the serving size and flavor the price was perfect! The cocktail, appetizer, and entree were great....but the highlight of the meal was the dessert!!! First of all the executive pastry chef personally came to the table to describe each dessert, and answer any and all questions that I had! She was a polite young lady that is a Culinary Institute of America Alumni. The desserts were perfectly described in detail and made me feel like I was tasting them as she was describing them....therefore I ordered one of each. I can't complain about a single one. The baba rhum with pumpkin tapioca sound reminded me of Christmas at my grandmothers. The Creme brûlée was perfect!! My children loved the s'mores brownie and my wife loved the spiced apple cake! We are originally from the south and the Red Velvet was better than any I've had in the south! These desserts are to die for and I will be ordering them everytime I have a sweet craving.
