I was very disappointed with my recent experience at this UPS store. My wife and I were shipping a perishable item to my son at college. We went into the store ahead of time and were helped by Jocelyn. She was very helpful and gave us a quote of $50 and change and the right size box. We said we would come back the next day with everything boxed up and ready to ship.
When we came back, Jocelyn helped us again. This time, the price increased to $83.85. She said that she underestimated the weight the day before, even though we said it would be 12-15 lbs. She only used 10 lbs. She said that I could ship it to arrive the following week. That would not work. I said that it must arrive by Friday, as she knew it was perishable. So, I agreed to send it paying $83.85. It was a Wednesday and it had to reach my son by Friday.
On Friday, my son called to say that the package hadn't arrived. I pulled out the receipt and contacted UPS. UPS said that the Tracking no. was incorrect. He asked that I take a photo of the receipt and send it to him. After reviewing the receipt, he responded back that the package was sent via USPS (post office), NOT UPS. I was shocked! After all, I went into a UPS store. If I wanted it to go through the post office, I could just have driven directly to the post office!
I called the UPS store and complained about the situation. Jordan got on the line and was pretty rude. He even asked me why I hadn't chosen the $111.00 UPS option! I was shocked! You are the ones looking at the screens, not me. You are the experts, not me. I came into a UPS store and you knew the package had to be there by Friday! Yet, you sent it through the post office! I could have driven down the street and mailed it through the post office myself and avoided your UPS store up charges. Crazy.
Jordan said he had to talk to Jocelyn, but she was not going to be back to the store until Monday. Of course, Jordan was also in the store when Jocelyn helped us and he also knew the package needed to be at its destination by Friday. Jordan said he would call me on Monday. Of course, Monday came and went and I never received another call from this UPS store, not Monday, Tuesday or any other day.
Jocelyn mailed the package "priority mail". When I went online to the USPS site, the tracking said the package was delayed. Not a thing I could do with the post office. In fact, it didn't arrive until the following week. Needless to say, the package was completely spoiled. Besides the cost of shipping $83.85, the box almost $6.00 (go to Walmart to buy under $2 boxes), and the cost of the perishable contents, I was out around $150.00, plus I had to replace the perishable items and resend the package. I sent it FedEx. In all, it was a $230 loss, not counting the second shipping.
What a waste. I can not recommend this store, although I have gone here many times in the past.
Also, Donna E., please don't post any of your replies promising to make things better for me and apologizing. I know you are trying to be a responsible social media person, but I don't want to see it. Rather, you should train your staff to be helpful, not rude, and keep their commitments to customers, like promised return calls. read more
