Loved this place! Great ambience and service; the food was good (actually, my husband said his pork chop was the best he's ever had). I had the blackened catch of the day. It was yummy. Served over hominy which I'm still trying to decide if I liked; it was tasty and different, but I'm not sure the best way to serve. Our waiter was awesome. Very friendly and accommodating. We'd definitely go back. read more

Yes but it closed. It's was a hit or miss restaurant. Food was always excellently prepared but some of the dishes were not for me. Service staff is good even with the amount of turn over. There were learning curve moments but they were eager to make things right. read more

Food and service were excellent today as always. But sad to say the open floor plan of Tilted Row (as with others of similar design) are just too loud to have a conversation with people across the table. Out of curiosity I downloaded a decibel app and sound levels were consistently in the high 80s (at 90 you get a warning that loud environments are harmful to your hearing). Washington Post article recently about Washington restaurants are installing noise reduction baffles and instituting Quiet Hours because their patrons are complaining about the noise. I hope that other restaurants follow suit. read more

This is just a top-notch example of a restaurant in almost every particular. The small plates available at the bar during happy hour (5-6:30pm Wednesday-Friday) are delicious, filling, inexpensive and quick. The kale salad, the soups, and especially the multi-choice mac n cheese or grits dishes with a variety of protein toppings (all excellent), are especially tasty. And the drinks mixed by the bartending artistes Julian and Jack are always on point, as are their beer, wine and whiskey recommendations. I couldn't recommend it more... and I can't find anything that's really worthy of serious criticism, but I think that their regular menu is better than the pre fixe menus that they offer on holidays and other special occasions. read more

The Tilted Row has been my favorite restaurants since I moved to Baltimore. My family and I lived in Bolton Hill so we could walk there and often did! If anyone visited I either recommended the TR or took them myself. Sadly no more. We went to brunch, excited to try the new menu. My dish, the short rib skillet, was subpar mainly because of the short rib was overcooked, dry AND cold! My waitress, who was great, noticed I wasn't eating it (I tried to eat the rest of the dish which was lukewarm) but it lacked something without the rib. Our waitress told the manager, who came over and asked was the dish OK. Well no the short rib is cold. She asked if I wanted it put back on the grill and I said no, that would make it drier and tougher. She said, OK enjoy your meal! I was shocked as was the waitress that she didn't offer to have the entire dish remade, maybe even a comp cinnamon bun. Typically I would refuse to pay for the skillet, but sometimes you just don't want the hassle. Anyway I paid the $100 bill, still left the waitress a tip. But will never return. Have never had that type of service at the Tilted Row. Buyer be aware - it is hit or miss. Too expensive when it's a miss. And just an FYI the old brunch menu was better! read more

Randomly selected spot for a weekend dinner. Location in the Bolton Hill area. The venue isnt that big but it has the right amount of space plus a bar to sit at. Staff is absolutely friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. Menu is a great selection of items. Mediterranean influence flavors and ingredients. Lastly, a good wine selection to lair with any dish. read more

This place is a cool, hip, trendy date night spot. My wife and I went on a Saturday evening before a show at the Baltimore symphony orchestra and we enjoyed our experience. The atmosphere was great. It's lively. They're seating available right in front of the kitchen where you can see the dishes coming together. The service staff is very kind and attentive. I really enjoyed my meal. I had steak frites and it was enjoyable. Was it the best that I've ever had? No not really, would I get it again? Possibly? My wife had shrimp and grits, which she really enjoyed. The grits had a sweetness to them that neither of us had ever experienced and would go again to enjoy the shrimp and grits for sure. The star of the show was the dessert. It was a bread pudding type of cake served with a honey gram ice cream by the Taharka Brothers. It was absolutely amazing. I would go visit this restaurant just for this dessert. Everything else was certainly good but the dessert was the star of the evening. Parking is street parking which may become difficult on busier nights. We were able to get a parking space right out in front of the restaurant and we really enjoyed the time, I suggest getting to this place quickly before the word gets out and reservations become slim. read more

Our visit to The Tilted Row was nothing less than wonderful. The food was delicious! Everything we ordered, from cocktails to dessert was so yummy and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. The ambiance was lovely and perfect for the double date we were on! It wasn't too loud and felt super comfortable. Enjoyed dinner with a small group for a friends 40th birthday. I love that it's super modern inside but definitely a neighborhood spot. They have an extensive whiskey selection and the drinks are different. That focaccia was a hit!! We all enjoyed several different items and everyone loved their food. My bf got the steak and fries and said the steak was good but could have used more salt, I got the shrimp and grits, I enjoyed it, but the portion is pretty small for the price, 6 medium shrimp and a ladle full of grits... for $26. Others got the ravioli, salmon and Mac n cheese. I would go back for happy hour. read more

Great food and atmosphere. There's usually free street parking since the restaurant is located in a neighborhood.

I visited with a very large party. Thank God the staff were so patient, nice, and understanding. I could not get our server's name but she was really nice. I ordered the baked french toast with a gingerale. She informed me that it would be baked with pumpkin which was extra awesome. When it arrived it was piping hot, sweet, with a crunch. Oh my the filling was so warm and perfect. I included a picture. I definitely would love to return. We also spotted the Baltimore Foodie. read more

I've been interested in trying to Tilted Row for some time so I decided to visit for Sunday brunch. We were able to find parking right out front very easily. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and sat immediately. We weren't happy with our original table but the hostess was very friendly and allowed us to move to an open table of our choosing. The waiter quickly came over to welcome us and offer water. The service had been great throughout our time here. This restaurant has a nice list of liquors, wines, beers, and cocktails. I tried the, Love is the Drug I'm Thinking Of, which was a fun twist on a mimosa. Pretty tasty! For starters, we tried the Braised Rib Loaded Fries. These were so good! I would recommend trying them. For entrees, we ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken and the Steak and Eggs. The Nashville Hot Chicken looked really tasty. Seems as though the hot sauce is made in-house. Even if it's not, it's a great sauce! Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the Steak and Eggs (main reason for a 3-star review). The dish was not thoughtfully plated. I requested a medium steak but it was well-done. The flavor was nice on the steak but this is not a dish I would recommend. Instead, I opted for the Tilted Burger which turned my meal around. Very juicy, well-made, flavorful burger. All in all, I enjoyed this restaurant. It's very clean and has a nice minimalistic modern decor. It feels like a cozy, neighborhood restaurant. read more

Some suggestions after dining there at brunch time today: **Put salt & pepper shakers on each table **Carry plant-based milks for coffee (lots of vegans/lactose intolerant folks) **More tea offerings (who doesn't have green tea?) **Explain to the servers the differences between each tea, such as this one is similar to camomile, etc. **Make it a policy to always put the salad dressing on the side, so there's no need to send a salad back because the preparer didn't read the order correctly **Make the brunch menu a different style/color than the dinner menu, so the server doesn't give out the wrong menu read more

We dined here during restaurant week and had a fantastic 3-course dinner. The RW menu offered a nice range of options to cater to various dietary preferences and restrictions. The ambiance and service were warm, lively, and friendly. The layout is open but there was still an intimate feel to the night. Each dish was prepared well, including well cooked proteins and crispy polenta fries. We're eager to return after RW to try more of their delicious preparations! read more

Finally tried this highly recommended restaurant for our anniversary dinner. Beautiful setting and delicious food. We had the 3-course date night special for $49 each. Charred octopus and duck poutine appetizers were outstanding! My falafel crusted salmon was so good, I finished it all which I seldom do! I appreciated the gluten free apple crisp with ice cream for dessert and hubby said the lemon tart was heavenly. Service was great! If you prefer drinks only, the bar is gorgeous and hubby enjoyed the rye bourbon flight after his GnT. read more

Came here for my husband's birthday dinner. Overall a very pleasant experience, albeit a little pricey. Cute spot that's like so many new American places with wood and bar and sharp lines. The wines on their list had low ratings according to Vivino but luckily they had a nice cab on special. We had the duck fat fries, octopus app and buffalo oysters to start. Tasty but small. For dinner we shared the trout (amazing) and sirloin (slightly overcooked). We ordered bread pudding and they brought a scoop of key lime pie ice cream with a candle on it--nice touch! Overall an enjoyable night! read more

I came to tilted row with a huge group for a birthday brunch on a Saturday morning. The interior is so beautiful! That's the first thing that caught my eye. I loved the layout and big windows. The staff were very friendly and the owner as well. They were patient with my party and willing to answer any question. Parking was not an issue. The restaurant is next to an apartment building and there is lots of street parking. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday. In terms of food, the row breakfast was nice. The biscuit was a bit dry but besides that it was good. I loved the mimosa options! The classic orange and grapefruit were great! I would definitely go back again. read more

Tilted row had only been open 3 months when we visited this Saturday night. Tucked in Bolton Hill, you might feel it's a bit off the normal Baltimore path. Trust me, go. Don't worry that it's not downtown. Just go. Three of us sat down to a narrow width wise table. This made it a little cozier but perfect to split dishes which we did! We started with the zaatar focaccia, moorish eggplant and charred octopus. The focaccia was good, it came with Aleppo olive oil, but I'd probably skip it for another appetizer next time. The moorish eggplant was unreal - like the best tapenade you've ever had. Probably needed another crisp to split, but i enjoyed the few bites i had. The charred octopus was the best I've had. Came out in one long piece - not rubbery at all, crispy at the end. The small potatoes it came with were delicious and the harissa oil was a great addition. We split three entrees and a side of duck fat fries for dinner . Duck fat fries were thick and crispy - perfect! Came with a harissa ketchup and some aioli - wonderful. For entrees we ordered a special whole bran IMO, the sorghum bribes pork chop and the duck fried rice. The branzino was perfectly cooked and came with caper vinegar that topped it off beautifully. So light and fun to pick at with friends! The duck fried rice was done right - fried rice and tender duck sliced on the side. So much duck and just stole our hearts. The pork chop was a server recommendation. Normally don't order pork chops for fear of them dried out but he convinced us that when braised in the grain sorghum, it totally tenderized the meat and cooked on medium was perfect. Came with zucchini, cherry tomatoes and mustard sauce. Incredible. We couldn't say no to the banana bread pudding and so glad that we didn't. Nice and warm with Taharka ice cream, three Baltimoreans left full and happy. Can't wait to be back!!! read more

This was such a gem! Was in Baltimore for a meeting with colleagues and met them here for dinner. We arrived just before happy your ended which was perfect to get the night started. My aspergillosis spritz cocktails were also perfect. I would definitely come back to dine here if I'm in the area. read more

I had been hearing about the Tilted row for several months from various friends and coworkers and I finally decided to try them for restaurant week. We got the restaurant week menu: I got the eggplant burrata appetizer, steak frites, and chocolate tahini cake. My husband got the grilled octopus, duck leg confit, and toffee pudding. The eggplant burrata was amazing! It was light but also perfectly seasoned. The eggplant wasn't too soggy. Just perfect. The grilled octopus was very good, not chewy at all. The steak frites was a little fatty but well seasoned and cooked to perfection! I requested medium rare and that is exactly what I got! My husband's duck confit was excellent. They used a tomato jam for the confit and there was roasted potatoes and asparagus with it. Sooo good! The chocolate tahini cake was a bit dry and not my favorite but the toffee pudding was moist, not too sweet, and very good. THe restaurant itself was kind of loud and it felt modern, and trendy but casual. The staff was pleasant and we were seated within a reasonable amount of time for a Friday night without a reservation. Parking was easy and the restaurant was very clean. A very good option in the Bolton Hill area! read more

The interior for the restaurant was beautiful. The restaurant is located at the corner of an apartment complex. It was brightly filled with sunlight when I went for a birthday brunch. The food was presented well, but I don't think the Row Breakfast or the Short Rib Hash stood out in particular for their taste. The Short Rib Hash was pricier than the Row Breakfast, but the Row Breakfast was much more filling. However, the service was very great. I came with a big party for the birthday brunch, and the team was very accommodating in answering our questions and even waiting for us to finish taking pictures before bringing out the food. They were also very accommodating in providing separate checks for all of us as well. I'm not sure if I want to return to try other options on the menu, but great service and beautiful interior! read more

I was beyond excited to see a new restaurant open in the area between Bolton Hill and Sandtown, and a visit to The Tilted Row did not disappoint. The physical location of the restaurant makes it easily accessible from more central parts of the city (Homewood, Mt Vernon, etc), and - in my case - there was parking outside for my bike. My friends and I sat at the counter near the kitchen in order to allow us to watch the chef and kitchen staff at work. I love this idea, and the appearance of the kitchen and prep space were clean and well-organized. Although we didn't choose to sit at the bar or in the regular dining area, I would love to return and try these spaces out. My friends and I ordered a bottle of a red blend from a Lebanese winery - this wine was part of their $25/bottle deal for their opening month. This wine along with the za'atar focaccia starter were excellent. As we went on a Thursday, I had their Thursday blue plate special: shepherd's pie. The pie was served piping hot in a cast iron skillet and was to die for. I especially enjoyed the braised lamb in it. My friends had the burger with duck fat fries and the pappardelle. I tried both of them and loved them - especially the fries! My blue plate special included dessert, and I opted for the bread pudding. The owner, who had come over to have a friendly chat with my friends and I, also gave us chocolate cake on the house (much appreciated!). Both desserts were equally as good as the meal. Overall, I can't recommend this restaurant enough! The friendly ownership and waitstaff combined with outstanding food and glimpses into the kitchen make it a unique, new gem for dining in Baltimore! read more

Lemme Tell You Somethin'....ever been to one of those place that is so good it make you want to write your first review?! The Titled Row did that for me! It was hands down one of the best start to finish resturant and food experiences I've had in a while. The business opened about two months ago and is off to great start. I went during the Baltimore Restaurant Week and enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal. Ambience- 5/5 Such a great vibe! The space is small and intimate without the feeling of being boxed in or crowded. For seating I recommend you sit at the the bar where you can experience the kitchen in action as they prepare order for their guests. the noise level was moderated making it nice for a date or special occasion. Staff- 5/5 The staff is excellent, courteous, and knowledgeable. The wine suggestion to pair with my steak was spot on. We were checked on periodically not just by the host, waiter, and the manager but by the kitchen staff as well. They helped create a comfortable atmosphere. Food/Drink- 5/5 To start I had the moorish eggplant, which was spicy and delicious. As an entree I had the steak which was well seasoned and prepared accompanied with mashed potatoes, carrotts and chimichurri which all complimented each other. I had the Taharka brothers ice cream (best in the city, if not the country) to finish...vanilla bourbon and honey graham (my personal favorite). The cherry on top was the bread pudding which was not offered during restaurant week but the offered it to me. It had me sinking in my seat! Drink wise they offer an extensive whiskey selection and well as specialty drinks. I enjoyed a old fashioned, which was exceptional. read more

A really great addition to the Bolton Hill neighborhood! My wife and I came in one Wednesday night and were so pleasantly surprised! This is definitely fine dining, and the atmosphere is very crisp and clean while remaining welcoming. I made a reservation at the Tilted Row to celebrate my mom's birthday. Before dinner we rented a movie theatre and then had dinner at the restaurant. The restaurant was very accommodating and reasonably priced. In all around 30 people showed up which I know was frustrating for the restaurant because my original reservation was for 12 people. When I reached out to see if I could add 4 more people (16 total) to the reservation they informed me that they double booked and couldn't accommodate us at all. This was hours before the event. I was left scrambling trying to find a new restaurant to host this birthday dinner. They ended up calling me back and saying that they could accommodate us and since we were near the bar area, the extra people that showed up were able to sit there. All in all we had a great time at the restaurant and everyone loved their food. The only reason I'm giving them 4 starts instead of 5 is because they tried to cancel our reservation hours before we were supposed to come and that would make me nervous booking another party here in the future. read more

This place has a very cute brunch vibe. The decor is great, and there's good seating at the bar and at the tables. There wasn't anything that really stood out on the brunch menu- typical chicken n waffles, French toast, steak and eggs, etc. I opted for the Nashville hot chicken. It really wasn't hot, but still tasty. If you're expecting high spice level, just bring your expectations down a notch. Service was fine. Again, nothing to write home about. Ok this is my restaurant week menu review,I'll come back and give another review from previous dinner experiences once I find the pictures. Everything was sooooo so good, absolutely amazing! I don't even like succotash but I loved the succotash that came under my crab fritter. It may have been the old bay aioli that wooed me but I loved that whole dish. My cousin liked her steak frites with the hand cut fries, I ate a lot of her fries because they are that good! Eventhough I had crab fritters for an appetizer I had to get the crab cake for my entree and I'm glad I did because I hate fried green tomatoes but I reeeeeally enjoyed the way they were prepared and put under the crab cake. Ohhh, the caper remoulade was soooooo good(if you haven't noticed by now I am a sauce girl). For dessert my cousin had the mixed berry shortcake and I had the brown butter with bourbon salted caramel & honey graham ice cream. Listen, that cake was AMAZINGGGG! I mean it's something I would go just to sit at the bar and experience every night! It is truly divine!!!! On top of having great food the service there is always top tier!
