Even after living in Burbank for years and frequently visiting the restaurants and movie theaters on San Fernando, I never knew about The Stage because it's pretty hidden from the entrance area. Although it's difficult to find, Yelp recommend this as a nearby restaurant and we were pleased to come across this hidden gem. Open to many, many tables indoors and outdoors, my friends and I chose one of the tables in the pretty outdoors patio and really loved the vibe. There was a hostess who greeted us immediately and helped us to a table and the servers were fast and efficient with their service. BRUSSEL SPROUTS 4/5: It was really yummy. Crispy and kind of soft on the inside. Nice marination. Would order again. PITA CHIPS & DIP 4/5: Red roasted pepper dip and olive tapenade. It was actually my first time trying tapenade and it wasn't bad at all. Pretty savory. The pita chips were nicely seasoned and crispy. SAFFRON RISOTTO W/ SCALLOPS 5/5: I never thought until this day that I would get a filling meal out of scallops. There was a beautiful combination of flavors in this dish. The saffron risotto was nicely cooked and not too overpowering and the (2) scallops and the shrimp (unfortunately only one piece) were nearly melting in my mouth. I would totally order this dish again. The roasted asparagus added a nice touch. One thing I appreciated about this place was their menu which provided a suggestion of which wine to pair up with the menu items. Although I didn't drink that night it stuck to my memory because you don't see that often enough. The Stage is great for group dinners and holiday parties for those searching for a new place. The layout and ambiance is so nice. It's greenery everywhere. Feels private and aesthetically pleasing. The food was good. I had the steak au poivre. The appetizer brought out in the beginning (hummus/pita chips/ olive tapenade) was ok. The tapenade is extremely salty so be aware of that. The service is not the greatest as other reviews have mentioned. The orders were randomly placed on the table so we didn't know who's it was. Oh and the food comes out randomly. One order came and 10 minutes later the next and so on and so forth. No one came to check on us. Maybe if you're a small party like 2-4 people you'll get better service but as a party of 20...... it was not good. At least 2 people should've been on top of it. Oh, the best part...... after like more than a handful of people ordered the branzino and we waited what felt like forever...... only to be told they're out of it because another party ordered all of it...... we didn't even stay for coffee and desserts, we just wanted to get the hell out and went back home to have coffee. It's a shame for as beautiful the place is, the experience is not. For somewhere that has a very limited menu with not a lot of choices, I would think you would have a popular choice available as it's a Saturday night and the place is packed. This place is so cozy you fall in love with it the second you walk in. They have live music, which set a nice ambiance. They have complimentary wine with a purchase of an entree for their reopening until august 2020. Their food is good but they brought the sides before the entrees and one steak was brought so late that the skewers were really cold. Service is slowww but they all have such good attitudes and are friendly. The food quality is good and the flavors are decent as well. They have the stone steak where they bring the meat raw on a stone and you cook it to your liking, which i thought was super clever. Their bbq is good. The ribeye looked yummy as well. Their sides are so delicious. The veggies and hurdle sprouts are amazing. Overall good place for a night out. Would recommend. I'm so happy they reopened after covid 19. We called to make reservation last minute on Saturday night . We were seated promptly but we wanted one of the booths, so they suggested to sit at one table order drinks and food till the booth is available and we moved to the booth with was very cozy and relaxing . Live piano music playing and amazing weather . We ordered steak au poivre and 6 squires bbq . Both were amazing and juicy . Sides were so tasty as well . I love this place as usual . Ambiance: chill green vibe surrounded by vines and trees so you really feel like your in a garden. Comfortable seating including couches. Wine selection is great. No hard liquor is served but they have beer. They have peach Belinis, great mimosa etc. Food: food overall is great. BBQ grilled skewers is my choice - beef, shrimp, pork, chicken etc is all available and that's usually what I get when I go with my family. Santa Barbara seafood salad is bomb and has real bright citrus like dressing. Must get roasted vegetables and potatoes - potatoes have a light Cajun seasoning. Desert: Coppa Spagnola - swirled vanilla and amarena cherry gelatos topped with real amarena cherries - it's an amazing flavor combo Definitely recommend checking it out. this restaurant used to be good when it first opened, but I've slowly watched it go downhill over the past three or four years. I came here in august of 2019 and unfortunately witnessed a RAT climbing on one of the wooden decor pieces indoors. I understand this is a possibility as the restaurant harbors an outdoor theme; however, as a restaurant that serves food, I would expect to not see a rat running around the restaurant - this isn't ratatouille. I came back here again tonight in June 2021 post-pandemic for an event I couldn't miss and the place had gone even more downhill, as if it was possible. There was leaves all over the place inside the restaurant area and the food was sub-par at most. In addition to this, one of the waiters also spilled a dish on me; however, that could happen anywhere so I'm not attributing that to the rating of this review. Thankfully I didn't see any rats tonight. Good luck if you have to choose to come here - hope your experience is better than mine. read more

I use to come here often because the food USE to be so yummy, but this was also prior to covid. I am unsure if they're under new ownership or management, but the food was awful. No flavor, plain spice, and extremely poor quality. I asked the manager if he can exchange the food or do something else because it was unbearably bad, nearly inedible. Though he gave an $8 discount, they over charged me with water bottles (that I didn't ask for) and I got attitude for kindly mentioning the food wasn't good. I'm upset because I did love this place but I won't be going back or bringing friends back ever again. read more

A very mixed bag. I love the food at this place, but damn, the service is mostly a mess. We had a 6:30pm reservation and arrived while it seemed like the staff was still trying to figure out if they were actually open. The hostess, with her mask below her nose, shuffled through a smattering of papers to find our info, discussed where in the EMPTY restaurant to seat us, and then just muttered "let's go" under her breath and walked away. I guess that was our invitation to follow her. Our waiter sauntered by and took our order, dropped by again with our food, and then eventually came by to give us our check. I don't think he really cared about us, and my date really wanted a glass of water, but no one ever actually came by to see if we needed anything other than our initial order. I will say that the bussing team did come by to let us know that my date's jacket had fallen off of his chair, how nice is that? At least SOMEONE was paying attention. Seriously, we were alone in the middle of the restaurant, and no wait staff, owner, manager, etc. even noticed us. The food, was amazing, even if my asparagus could have used a bit more cooking time to soften up. We've ordered from here during the pandemic, and everything is consistently great. The brussel sprouts are to-die-for. The french fries are piping hot, look amazing and have a faint seasoning. And the atmosphere, the location, the gorgeous plants, all really lovely. I worry that the exposed rats nest of wires overhead is a fire hazard, that should really be fixed. We escaped just as the party was getting going, to see that both handicap spots were filled with giant black Escalades, one with a couple of scantily clad miniskirted women (note that all of the other patrons were no masks at all, and these two were no exception) descending from their airbus with their high heel shoes clomping onto the pavement, before pushing their way past us. OMGoodness!! This place is sooooo delicious! We came for my son's 23rd Bday and this place was awesome. Servers are attentive and so kind. We ordered the set menu..... HOLY MOLY- best lamb chops I've had in a very long time. My guests were all impressed with the quality of the food and the wide variety. Something for everyone. The price was more than affordable for the food that was served plus Entertainment that was included at no extra fees.. whether it's for a date night or a big crowd for sure it's the one place I would choose to go back to again and again. Came in for a quick dessert and coffee to check out. I honestly didn't even know this place exsisted. It's so relaxing and inviting. I sat outside in the large garden dining area. The music was low and calming. I wasn't here during the jazz the chef spoke of, but I will definitely be back with my entourage to check out the live music scene and sample the food. The seating area is decorated with shrubs, Christmas lights, fire heaters - the key ingredients to COZY. But what makes The Stage unique is the LIVE JAZZ MUSIC. Unfortunately, my friend and I came on a day where a private party reserved a room for their event, so there was no live music that day. However, the music that was playing from the speakers might as well have been live, as it was beautiful, relaxing, and soothing. My friend ordered the 14 oz Filet Mignon, which was served on a sizzling hot stone so that he can "cook" it himself to however well done he wanted it to be. A very interesting experience if you ask me. Though this option is cool, I feel like this only works with people who know how to cook steak (which luckily, my friend did), because I would have been paranoid of overcooking my steak and not enjoyed my meal as much if I were him. I ordered the Gnocchi with Bone Marrow, and it was absolutely heavenly. The bone marrow was fatty, savory, and delicious. Umami, dare I even say? The gnocchi was chunky but soft, and the sauce was divine. The prices are a bit on the heavier side here, but you're paying for quality ambiance and quality food. This place is definitely underrated. It is perfect for a big party (there are long tables available), for a friend group outing, or a romantic date. Every occasion pretty much works. It is absolutely an hidden gem on San Fernando Blvd. It is just a few minutes away from Burbank downtown. Looking from outside the restaurant, it is completed covered with tall plants/trees. Lots of privacy. Inside is a huge outdoor seating area. Comfortable chairs with cushions. Community tables. Totally can accommodate big group. They have live music every night around 7:30pm. Free no cover charge. The servers never rush you, you can sit there and enjoy the music all night. The Service: WONDERFUL! Very attentive. Love the customer service. We had an amazing time! The food was exquisite and our server, Alfredo, was very helpful and even offered a small wine sample. We liked the lush garden setting and quirky decorations. The middle patio was very cute and in the outer patio where we sat was still nice but could use a little cleaning (i.e. the decorations around the booths were dusty) but given that many restaurants have been short-staffed all throughout COVID that seemed like a minor issue.
