When we were seated, we were served a flatbread, herbs and those wrapped pats of butter. For such an elegant restaurant, that seemed out of place. In my option, I'd rather have a plate of butter. I would have used it for the rice too! Ordered koobideh, hummus, eggplant dip and fesenjoon Koobideh- ground beef was delish! Comes on a huge plateful of rice. Hummus was standard, but the eggplant dip is better! I came for the fesenjoon... basically stewed chicken in a pomegranate sauce. I liked it, but was too tart for me. I first tried this dish at a restaurant in the Wilshire district and saw it here. Service was spectacular. Was very attentive.

Lahmajun was crispy like a cracker, yet so savory and well-spiced in its meat on top. Armenian food is delicious, and I have to thank Zhengyalov Hatz for introducing me to it. This is not the best Armenian restaurant in the world. It is also not the most glamorous, the most…read moretrendy, nor the most ambitious. But it is without question the most important Armenian restaurant in the world. Armenians are simultaneously a diaspora people, a people of the book, and an old country people. Therefore, odd as it may seem, it is entirely appropriate that the most important Armenian restaurant in the world should not be located in Armenia at all, but should serve a diaspora community in a way that makes them feel connected to home, both interns of cuisine and in terms of communal warmth. Technically, this is more of a Lebanese restaurant than an Armenian restaurant, but that hardly matters. It's a place of celebration, merriment, laughter, and tears. In short, it is THE gathering place for Armenians in Southern California. Because of its fame and importance, the thing that is consistently overlooked about this restaurant is just how excellent the food is. Bring a Lebanese expat here and you will invariably hear them say after the first bite of hummus that it doesn't compare to the hummus they used to enjoy in Beirut. By the middle of the bowl, they will say that it actually is not as bad as they first thought. By the end of the bowl they will declare that this hummus ranks among the greatest they have ever tasted. Carousel does not overwhelm you. It seduces you. And you'll be back.

The flavors hit the spot, and the extra dressing on the side took it to another level. The lule was perfectly seasoned and juicy, and the rice was on point--fluffy and moist. I was initially going to complain about the price, but after tasting the flavor and quality, I'd say it was worth every penny. Yesterday we finally had time to come by and it was just okay. I love to see them thriving and see how supportive their client base is. Personally, I was underwhelmed. I have Armenian, Persian, Middle Eastern, and all similar foods ALL the time (and I am Armenian). The Luleh didn't look appealing, but it was actually good. I liked that it wasn't over-seasoned like most places. The chicken kabob was just okay. Nothing really stood out about it, except that it was a little undercooked in the middle, yet still charred on the outside. The flavor of the rice was alright, but the consistency was too watery/ mushy. I liked the humus - the flavors weren't overbearing. Overall, it was okay. The portion was good but the place in general is a little overpriced. Service was alright, the girl taking our order was nice but nothing stood out. PS - no trash cans. When you're done, you have to walk over to a large dumpster to throw your trash in.

Atmosphere: It's a cute little place inside, doesn't sit too many people but it's got class. Restrooms were clean too, that's an added bonus! Service: We had an older lady serve us, we were the only patrons for a little bit, but she was so sweet, maybe like the wife of the owner...? But we ordered a lot and she was just like "Okay!" And she gave us space, my other reviews, I don't like when servers are hounding you every 5 minutes... Price: It's actually not that bad. I mean, to get this in Glendale? I live in El Cajon where there are a BUNCH of Mediterranean places so the fact that this place is kind of "out there" with delicious food and reasonable prices...? No wonder it's so popular! Granted, we ordered too much but our bill, with tip, was still less than 60$. Awesome. Overall: We were not staying close to this place, but because it had good reviews and we were both down for Mediterranean food, we tried it. I'll be back if I am ever up this way again!

Our server initially got our order wrong, specifically the type of khinkali we ordered, and instead of taking accountability for the mistake, she insisted that we had ordered incorrectly. Given the poor service and overall experience, we decided not to leave a tip. When she picked up the receipt book and saw this, she stormed away from our table without saying a single word. Overall, the service was extremely disappointing and unprofessional, and the food was also overly salty. Definitely not the experience we expected, and unfortunately, we will not be returning.

When we first walked into the restaurant we thought we were the only patrons, then we found out the host just likes to seat people in the private booths which are separated from the main dining room by straw dividers. I read on the other reviews that they thought the server was not very nice, however my experience was the opposite - she provided helpful input when we asked for advices on the cuisine, and even recommended us to try the khinkali with sour cream which she provided and didn't have to. On to the food - we ordered the eggplant appetizer, it's similar to baba ghanouj but this one is a bit spicier and so yummy with the bread that came with it. We also ordered khinkali which is Georgian's version dumplings (we ordered the boiled version but there's also fried ones available). The skin is on the thicker side and was very chewy, the filling was well spiced with herbs, when you cut into it the juices come flowing out, yum! Our fav dish was the chimeruli which is baked hen drenched in a garlicky cream sauce that was more of a soup to me and i could not stop drinking it down! The hen was roasted so nicely with crispy skin, and along with the sauce just made the whole dish so hearty. Things are on the pricier side but I would still definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who's adventurous in trying different cuisines. It was interesting to note that they had two menus, one for Georgian foods, and the other for Armenian foods. Btw the restaurant charges a "non cash fee" for all non cash payments.
