She was checking on us all of the time (but not in an annoying way), made awesome suggestions, and really knew her stuff! Super personable. Love the market lighting in this place! It's was okay, they have a wide collection for drinks( alcoholic), but not so much for entrees, we got the rustic burger ( which was great) which you can get anywhere... Then there was the pecan Sea Bass, I had to say, there was no salt and no pepper, they just rolled it in pecans and baked it. Then the potato chips and queso dip was fabulous!!! That was amazing! Overall it was an okay experience. Live country music late at night & was very entertaining to see the band that performed. People dancing to their music. My party of 4 was seated fairly quickly. The service could have been better though. Waitress never explained sides come separately from main food nor did she ask if sides were desired. I had the Portobello Burger and it was pretty big. It was good to eat!! Other main dishes had large serving sizes also. Waitress never offered dessert to my table. We were told that until 3 pm, we could only order one of 2 sandwiches or one of several salads or we had to order family style meals which was mostly brunch food. Wife and I went here on a Saturday afternoon. It was fairly crowded, but only took us 10 minutes to get seated. We ordered a mimosa carafe to share which was tasty. We also got the wild boar meatballs and the half roasted chicken with broccolini. They were both on point. Rustic also had an acoustic live singer which was a nice surprise. Apparently they have live music Thursday through Sunday. My wife loved this place so we will definitely be going back lol. read more

First time here.. and most likely the last time here. I visited this restaurant with a few coworkers before attending a play downtown. We really loved the restaurants set up and wanted to come back for the live music. I checked out the menu before we chose the spot and noticed that they had one vegan option, so of course i chose that one. My drink, an Aperol Spritz, was the best part of the evening along with the amazing attentive service. My coworkers both had the hot chicken and cheese sandwich and stated that it was decent but not exceptional. I had the mushroom chop. It was extremely oily, and lacked flavor, salt.. pretty much tasted like an oily, plain mushroom. I love chimichirri but was underwhelmed. While eating, I noticed something odd that was a part of the mushroom. After spitting out the piece of mushroom. I noticed that there was an extremely long black hair wrapped around my mushroom. I did appreciate the managers quick attention to the issue, and she was very apologetic. She removed the entree and offered me a free meal on my next visit. However, I don't plan to return since that's the only vegan option and I did not enjoy it. read more

This is more of a 3.5/5, but I rounded down due to some constructive feedback. The Rustic is a bar slash restaurant slash music venue located in downtown Houston. It is, in fact, the first public dining establishment that I have visited in the seven-ish months since the pandemic began. And I only did so because my good friends promised it was COVID-safe, and they were not mistaken. Outside of one instance where a waitress leaned her upper body on our table while taking orders, I felt very safe dining/sipping here: the waitstaff had masks on, the tables were adequately spaced apart, they have erected what look like plexiglass barriers between adjacent booths, and the whole place is basically open-air. Well done. There is valet parking for $10, but you can find street parking for cheaper on weekends just a short walk away. We stopped by around 1:00 PM and there was an extremely talented soloist strumming away on his guitar on the stage below. The atmosphere was excellent. The waitress informed us that Saturday brunch menu was still in effect (until 3:00 PM), which was disappointing because there were only 9 options, of which maybe a third were legit entrees. On top of this, the beer menu was devoid of descriptions and price -- outside of recognizing the specific brand name and variety, not sure how one is supposed to make an educated choice. For grub, I ordered the Hot Chicken, a spicy fried chicken sandwich with toasted bread, melty cheese, a thin patty, a skewered pepper on top, plus pickles. The chicken wasn't especially fiery itself, but the pepper sure was...each bite will light your tongue ablaze. The sandwich was really tasty, but I think I would prefer a different type of cheese over gummy, salty American cheese. I will surely be back soon, but probably in the late afternoon for the full menu experience. read more

Been to the Rustic in downtown and was shocked how different this one was. MUCH smaller menu and literally no entre comes with a side. When you order the $14+ Rustic burger, that's all you get. All sides cost extra and range from $4-$6. Definitely not worth the price for what you're getting. Aside from the menu, I don't know what is going on in the kitchen but it took over 30 minutes to get the first wave of food. Yes, "wave". It took 3 waves for all the food to finally come out. It was about 25 more minutes between the first wave and the last wave. Our table didn't get to eat our food together at risk of it being cold. Management apologized but did nothing to really make up for it. No comped dessert or items taken off the tab. We paid full price for overpriced food and terrible service. IF I ever go back to The Rustic, it certainly will not be this location. read more

This a cool, laid back venue. Part of the restaurant has dirt/gravel floor and backyard patio furniture. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We made it at the end of happy hour (happy hour on a Saturday ) and the drinks are strong! And not just one drink or one type of drink, every type of drink they made for us was strong. LOUD place. If you like not being able to hear each other, this place is great. Maybe outside would have been better but it was raining. Even the singer was hard to hear over the crowd. The food was okay. Not outstanding and not mediocre but small portions for a pretty penny. Got a burger that looked like any other burger joints junior size, my hubby ate it in three bites and he said it all tasted like charcoal. No other flavor. It cost 8 bucks but did not come with any sides. I believe a additional side of fries was around 8 bucks as well. Our waitress was great though so there's that. Gorgeous place smack in the heart of uptown galleria. Place is huge! Nice patio with multi-level seating. They have a main stage area inside which is a bit hard to see from the outside. It sort of reminds me of a western bar with the picnic tables. Contact-less menus using your phone and they have a call button for the server. Haven't tried any food yet. Cocktails were meh and they are expensive to be meh. A lot of interesting drinks but I think they exceed the bartenders capabilities at the moment. Service was a bit strange. I think as time progresses the service should improve. The interior alone is worth checking out. Note you will be waiting in line for a seat on the weekends. read more

I had a rustic burger, with the spicy Caesar and grilled salmon, and last but not least a large spoon bread. Everything was delicious the new style of the Caesar salad is a plus and the salmon doesn't disappoint. Our server Paige was amazing, she was really attentive and polite, keeping our drinks refilled at all times. Will definitely be back for more. We also got the razzberry drink, is for kids it taste like jolly ranchers. Is like a fuel for imperative kids.
