My wife loves this place so we go here a few times a year. This is my review and I think it is pretty good. I don't think it is as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be. My wife always gets the divan and loves it every time. I try something different each time. So far nothing has failed me. I have not tried all the dishes though. Their muffins are really good but are expensive. I think 6 of them are about 10 bucks. That is my only complaint is the high prices on some of the good items. I like the atmosphere and the service has always been good. Go here for a new experience. read more

I absolutely love this place anytime of the year!! I used to take my grandma there all the time to eat it was her favorite place, love the Mormon muffins and butter they are to die for!! The little shop that they have are so great during the holidays, I love the Christmas and Halloween things they have, I love to go and look at the Robert that runs right by there also!!! Gross. Don't order the clam chowder as it's way too thick and over cooked so the carrots are mush. ya I ordered the halibut tonight and it was not editable. I Love The Greenery! The soups and deserts are homemade & made fresh every morning & the salad bar is always fresh and ready to go for lunch at 11am. I think some of these reviews are unfair because first of all they are not a breakfast establishment like Jeremiahs and not a drive thru like McDonalds. If you want a friendly quiet quaint lunch and cozy dinner enviornment with a pretty view of the canyon this is more for you! The servers are always polite friendly and efficient! They try very hard to seat quickly and provide the best friendliest service possible! The food is reasonably priced and consistently good! My family and I always come here for Christmas tea, we absolutely love it! The service is a little slower but the food is to die for. I'm absolutely appalled by some of the poor reviews that this place has received, we have gone since I was a child and have never had a negative experience. I love the atmosphere here, very friendly. Ordered appetizers and a glass of wine with our dinner; server replied "Our manager has left and no one is 21 so we can't serve any alcohol to you". What? The only reason I didn't give The Greenery 5 stars is my disappointment each and every one of the 30 times I've eaten here... No fries, onion rings or other traditional side choices with sandwiches and burgers. (Just heard a guy ask for them as well) Aside from this, The Greenery is one of my favorite places to eat. There are many good places in Ogden and many more are continuing to open, but this remains as the most comfortable restaurant with a delicious choice of food! With windows all around, each dining area is well lit while each table has its own overhead light. This light isn't overpowering but refreshing. The refreshing feelings are maintained by all the plants and flowers in and around the dining area. The music is light and easy. The colors are all complimentary. The ambience is perfect! My server was the shorter Jake. He was very friendly! Though he admitted to being a vegetarian he knew all aspects of the menu and was very confident in his approach as quirky as it may have been. Great for lunch with girlfriends! Lots of variety and a super fresh salad bar. Mormon muffins are a must. Arrive before noon if you want to avoid the rush. I recommend the restaurant for entertainng out of town visitors followed by a drive up the canyon and a stroll through the gift shops. Avoid the late lunch window if possible. This is the senior citizen hotspot from 12-2 ! They know a good thing. Service is fast and the clam chowder is wonderful. Also don't miss the carrot cake. About a quarter of the way through the meal, my found a piece of metal in her food. We both stopped eating immediately, How can you trust anything that comes out of a kitchen with such low standards. Pointed out the metal to management. Got a less than satisfactory apology, they offered to take my wife's entree' off the bill. Seriously? Went for my birthday. We ordered potato skins for appetizer. It was nothing but raw parts of bottom of potato with cheese. Asked if they could cook them longer and add chives or something to give taste. He forgot and went about business. The soup was so thick you could use for wall paper. Over charged for muffins which was the only edible thing to eat. He put birthday cake in to go box. When we arrived home the cake was so dry and stale I don't know why they bothered. Never again. My mom and sister and I went to the Greenery for lunch on 11/3/18. It had been awhile since I had been there. I always remember the Mormon muffins as my favorite and as always had one and brought home a half dozen. Our waitress talked us into ordering the Chili Verde Enchilada. It was delicious down to the last bite. The Greenery is such a fun atmosphere with homestyle cooking. Take the time to stop by this cute little restaurant at the mouth of Ogden Canyon. Sad to say, I can't leave a good review. I have been coming here since I was a kid and I am a senior citizen now. My husband and I have been coming here for years as well, but I don't think we will be back. My husband ordered the chicken Alfredo dish and was expecting something with nice grilled chicken on top. What he got was ground up dark meat chicken. I thought it was chopped mushrooms or something.He said the sauce on it was tasteless and he felt like he was eating a tuna casserole or something. It didn't look good. We asked the waitress about it and she went back and asked the cook and he said they got the wrong meat order in, ground up dark meat, what the heck? On the menu it says it is grilled chicken breast. If you don't have the right food as advertised then tell the customers to pick something else. We went there for my husband's birthday dinner. What a disappointment! I got the enchilada and mine wasn't any better. I wanted to try something new and boy I wish I wouldn't have done that. It was a small portion size but I didn't care to eat it anyway. It just wasn't very good. What a disappointment, we have come here for years and almost always had a pretty good experience. We love being up near the canyon and we enjoy walking around rainbow Gardens for a few minutes afterwards. But, we just didn't have a very good time this time. I don't think we will be back. This is my absolute favorite restaurant to go to. Doesn't matter what the occasion, birthday, date night, or casual lunch, the vibe here is just friendly and the food is amazing. I get the verde chili burrito every single time. The wait staff is always attentive and care about your food being fresh and you liking your meal. I have never had to send anything back. There has never been a wait when I go and they always get me or my large party seated quickly. If you have never been here you are missing out on a piece of Ogden. And try the Mormon muffins, they are scrumptious. Lastly would be the cost. I don't get to go out as often as I would like cause I don't like paying ridiculous prices. This is by far one of my favorite places to eat. Great for lunch and dinner. I love dining here with family and friends. It's located right at the mouth of Ogden canyon. The service is amazing. I have been to the Greenery twice in the last month. Each time I went I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is very friendly and inviting. I love the decor inside. It is full of plants and has quaint tables and chairs. I ordered the ahh! vocado sandwich. It is truly one of the best veggie sandwiches I have had. It is a toasted sandwich with large mozzarella cheese slices sitting atop tomato slices and broiled until the cheese is toasty golden brown. All the veggies underneath include avocado, mushroom and sprouts. The sprouts add a touch of flavor that makes this sandwich so delicious. I ordered the pasta salad as a side. It is a light, refreshing, somewhat sweet pasta salad that pairs itself perfectly with the ahh! vocado sandwich. I recommend taking some time to drive to this restaurant for lunch and giving it a try. read more

While visiting from LA, I wanted to introduce a friend to The Greenery. It was sentimental favorite from my Utah days. We were with a group of adults. The food was fine, but the service and management were very disappointing. The server accidentally spilled a carafe of water. It ran straight into my fiend's purse, completely dousing her iPad, Blackberry and cell phone. We tried to clean it up as quickly as possible, but the Blackberry wouldn't work. The waitress although embarrassed, didn't seem very concerned. So, we decided to talk with the manager. After explaining what had happened, he replied, "Well, now I know" and dismissed her, completely. I was stunned and embarrassed. I couldn't believe he didn't even offer to comp her meal (our combined lunches were $35, so it wasn't a fortune. When I asked him why he hadn't even comped her bill, he blamed it on her, for not asking. I was stunned. Ogden has plenty of other places with better food and services. I have gone to the greenery many times over the years of visiting Utah. It was always a fun little place to eat and the food was good. Their salads with seafood are the best really. I ordered a simple baked potato this time and my husband ordered a burger. The potato was small and loaded with so much cheese, I couldn't cut through because of how hard it got by the time it was placed in front of me. I did have a seafood bisque to start my meal and it was delicious (I should've ordered it for my whole meal). Our service was terrible. The waitress couldn't have cared less about us. She would talk to a customer at another table, turn around and roll her eyes. She ignored me half the time I tried to get her attention. The bus boy I ran into on my way out was really nice and helpful, so I wouldn't say it's an overall service thing, just our waitress had a chip on her shoulder. read more
