Meh. I don't really recommend this place. Not great food or service. The only thing we enjoy is the Mormon muffins.

We had Salmon and Steak which were quite good. Good size portions also on the veggies. We also ordered potato skins which were a little dry but okay. The bread pudding is just epic. I don't like raisins and always appreciate it, when there isn't any in it. Save room, this thing is a challenge. Brooke was our server. She's very sweet and thoughtful. 5* read more

This restaurant is in a fun/beautiful area. I wouldn't recommend eating here as the food isn't great or really even that good. Very simple food, not lots of flavor. I had the Marco Polo and my muffin was soaking and the broccoli was over cooked and soggy. My husband had the crab Louie and it didn't even look good when it came out and was just a ton of shredded lettuce. The staff was very friendly and helpful to our table of 7 and made sure we always had water. read more

I chose the menu item called Marco Polo because I had read positive reviews about it. This was probably the least flavorful dish I've ever been served in any restaurant. The hollandaise sauce was very bland without even a hint of lemon and certainly wasn't rich and creamy either. The English muffins were soggy which was not a good combination with the disappointing sauce. The broccoli was frozen broccoli that I'm sure was heated up in the microwave and it watered down the dish. The ham and turkey were deli slices--another disappointment. And the restaurant itself might have been beautiful in the 1980s but could surely use a deep cleaning and extensive renovating. Zero stars but apparently you the lowest rating is 1. I've been to the restaurant a couple times. It was just mediocre but we have always loved the "Mormon muffins". I went in yesterday just for muffins. They are great tasting as always but when I arrived home I was very disappointed in the presentation. They really looked like they were thrown into the box. Broken up and pieces all over. Do not get the Mexican food dishes - you might be better off getting the food that you can't mess up like a salad or a baked potato.

We've been wanting to try this place for a long time, but we shouldn't have bothered. Our visit tonight was so bad that we left before we could even order. As we entered, two female employees (let's call them "blue hair" and "foghorn" ) saw us, turned away and then continued their loud, laughing conversation - which you could easily hear forty feet away. Finally a third employee, who was much further away, spotted us and gave us a table. The place was a mess, the salad bar looked like a garbage bin - food scattered everywhere, a pile of dirty tongs lying on the bar, etc. I asked our polite server if the salad bar was usable and she told us it had been a busy night. I mentioned that the two girls who continued to laugh and visit behind the entry counter, might have been put to use to clean up the salad bar. But by now we had seen enough to know that blowing forty bucks here was going to be a bad gamble - so we bailed out. Too bad, it looks like we'll never know what their food is like - all because of two lazy, loud employees and a manager who must have been asleep in the back room. Sad. Went to the Greenery with a party. We were greeted with fresh (though not hot and fresh) bran "Mormon Muffins" -- which are pretty good. When we each got our bill there was a $2-per-muffin charge on top of the other dinner fees. You expect to get hit with a cover charge in many places in Europe. But the Greenery is no European restaurant. What a sleazy policy! This place is off the charts offensive in that the menu is designed so... well... inoffensively. In sum: bland, bland, senior-citizen portioned, with a meager portion of extra blandness on the side. The "fruit salad" was served in little 1.5 oz. plastic cups like you'd see a sample served at Cost-Co. The pasta salad side was 8 or 10 beige bow ties barely covered in their nakedness by an underseasoned plain-jane dressing. The prices are nothing special - $8 for an ordinary sandwich with plain Ruffles chips. The turkey enchiladas were made with processed deli turkey. $3.70 for an 8-oz foam cupped kid's milkshake. $5.50 for a glass of $7/bottle Alice White wine. Glahhhhh! The food quality and value for the price is horrible. Thank goodness we didn't try any of the $13-$15 entrees. To look around at many of the elderly diners you might think the Greenery has targeted and found it's niche. But you'd be wrong. Granted, the Rainbow Gardens gift shop is a draw, but there is other home-style, homemade-tasting fare in Ogden that is far better. And these places are loved by the retirement crowd. Try Jeremiah's or Sandy's Fine Foods, whether or not you fit that age bracket. It's been a decade since we've previously been to the Greenery. Nothing has changed. We won't count the days till we won't be going back. read more

I couldn't take the smog in SLC any more so I drove to Ogden Canyon hoping to see Blue Skies. Luckily I did and since I was so happy I had lunch at one of my favorite places, The Greenery. I always have the Hedda Gobble Turkey Sandwich with Pasta Salad. I can't leave without Mormon muffins either. Once you're really full you can stroll around the gift shop and find things that are so quaint and you will not find them anywhere else. I had a great day got out of the Smog so if you need to do the same take a drive this weekend and have lunch at the Greenery. You'll be happy you did. read more

MUFFINS REVIEW: Saw the sign for Mormon muffins on our way to the dinosaur museum and we had to stop and try it. We are visitors and new to the area, so we did get a few stares in the parking lot and at the restaurant, but we didn't let that bother us from trying the muffins! We got a 6 pack in a cute box with honey sauce. The muffins were very soft and warm, fell apart and was delicious! Definitely recommend a stop here just for the muffins. We got it to go so we didn't eat at the restaurant, but it looked cute and the decor inside felt like it was an outdoor cafe with nice greenery. read more

I don't know why so many people don't like this place it's amazing. Whenever I have out of town guests I always bring them here. The scenery is just stunning! It's close to the Ogden River and nestled right next to canyon so there are hiking trails around there and loads to see no matter what time of year it is. Additionally, the shops that are around it have a lot of history and it's a great place to spend the afternoon. I highly reccomend hanging out and seeing the shops and the area, they really are something special. As for the food I've never had anything I didn't like. If you go, try the Mormon muffins, they are famous for them and get extra honey butter because it really completes them. I've had a few things there and everything has been delicious and cooked well. My favorite thing is the alfredo, I love pasta and it's so good. It's rich and creamy and the chicken is juicy and I usually take half of it home with me to have for lunch the next day. The portions are pretty good size here as well. When I'm being good and minding my diet (it's hit or miss) I get the salad bar and there are a lot of great options there that fill me up even though you can only get one trip. If you go try and sit out where you can see the river, you won't be sorry. read more

It's been years since we've been here. I don't know if it's COVID or what that's ruined this place. Standards in this place have gone down. I was let down. Usually good food is fun. This wasn't fun period. Chicken enchiladas soupy as ever... meh..... Chicken Cesar meh... the description said grilled chicken. Pretty sure I just got boiled chicken. Blan! The clam chowder?? Tasted like potato soup. It was chunky it had carrots, celery, and 1-2 chunks or clam, did not taste like anything close to CLAM CHOWDER. Even the Hedda Gobbler wasn't a looker... blan.... boring... stuff we could make at home.. nachos especial is saucy.. nothing exciting... Nothing to rave about here!! Besides the Mormon muffins which I'm being extra nice about. Pricey for food that used to be bomb! Crazy pricey for crappy food. I'm sorry.. This place really needs to be health inspected ASAP. Workers were disgustingly coughing up a storm enough to make you question. If you have their sickness now.. Food all on the floor. Sitting uncleaned tables and flies everywhere. This is my favorite restaurant in the whole world! I've been going here since I was a young teenager. It was a family tradition on my grandmas side to come a few times a year. This place never disappoints me! My cousin and I loved it so much we even went three times in one week! One of the waitresses knew us pretty well for a while and my cousin always go the same thing every time and she lost her marbles when he ordered something different one time. I always get something different every time. My favorite things on the menu are : Mormon muffin, chicken Caesar salad, Marco Polo, The Heather gobbler sandwich and The vegetable soup. read more

The greenery has totally gone down hill they used to be one of the best restaurants in town I ordered that their special the salmon tetrazzini it had very little salmon in it and I also ordered a strawberry pie to go they gave me a piecrust without anything in it and 2 cups of strawberries with no cream at all I would not recommend this restaurant and probably will never return. read more

I have been coming to The Greenery since I was a little girl with my grandma. Her favorite was the Hedda Gobbler and since her death in 2002, I've come here ever since and had the same thing. It was her favorite place. The Mormon Muffins are to die for and the clam chowder isn't too shabby either. I love their salad bar, although I wished they wpild make it an all you can eat, given the price. The service is always memorable and very pleasant. I love how they haven't changed a thing as far as remodel with the same black and white floors and accent of green. It's always a great time to go around and visit Rainbow Gardens when you are done with your tasty dinner! It will always be a place to go and make memories taking my own kids there! Went to The Greenery for a late lunch with my best friend. After we arrived at our table, the seat had food on it, which I requested to be cleaned. Both my spoon and fork were filthy; stuck on old food. I gave them to our waiter for a replacement; all he said was "oh" and gave me a new set with an "here you go". The floor was filthy with stuck on food as well. Needless to say, I lost confidence in the establishment's cleanliness which made me wonder about ordering food. We decided on just some coffee and their so-called famous Mormon Muffins. When the waiter brought the coffee, the edge of the cup had crud stuck on it as well. The muffins were average at best, but the honey butter masked this nicely. This restaurant was once considered a wonderful fine dining restaurant in the 70's & 80's whereas now it resembles that of a nursing home cafeteria. I say this because it appeared that their main clientele are the elderly; even coming into the restaurant one sees a lot of "assisted living" literature and such. We found it appalling that they would serve the elderly with such lackluster standards. Shameful! read more

Decided to check this place out because I was in the area and looking for a nice lunch. I was very unsatisfied with the outcome. As soon as we were seated, I noticed that the table had some crumbs from the previous people eating there and our silverware had some dried food on it. At this point, I felt like we had made a mistake. I ended up ordering a soup and salad bar. The salad bar had looked like it hadn't been tended to for a couple hours. They were low on plates and i had to go through the first couple to get a clean one because there were food stains. The quality of the salad lettuce looked like something you can buy at a grocery store for 99 cents. I was really unpleased at this point. My clam chowder soup didn't look appetizing and had hardly any flavor. The only thing that tasted decent was the sautéed mushroom appetizer. It was okay, nothing great about it. Ordered a Baked Potato entree, topped / stuffed with Chile Verde. Decent presentation, tasty Chile Verde, but I soon discovered that the large potato they used was loaded with black spots in the potato. In fact where the potato was sliced open by the cook there was a very large black area about the size of my thumb. So I had to eat the potato very carefully, cutting out spots as I went along. The food server checked on us and I let her know that the cook might want to be more careful in preparing the food, cutting out any spoiled areas before serving. No big deal, I was eating most of the potato. But then the waitress returned to tell me that the manager said those were places stained by the meat in the Chile Verde, not black spots. He / She did not bother to come look at the woody black chunks that I had sitting beside my plate. Like I was not able to tell black spots from stains!! Showed such a lack of interest in the guest experience that I did not bother to tell anyone about the black hair I later found in the Chile Verde. I was absolutely not looking for a free meal as I had already eaten 1/2 the dish and polished off another 1/4 before giving up after seeing the hair. It seemed that I cared much more about assuring a quality experience than the manager, so my advice --- skip this place. We've dined there before but now it's off our list. read more

Not sure how this place is still around or a local legend. I got talked into going here because of the famous "Mormon muffins" seriously? A very dry bran muffin. Also had a pastrami burger, it was a frozen beef patty overdone sourced from Walmart. Also this place has no french fries!! How do you have burgers without fries? I also decided to splurge on their fresh homemade strawberry pie, what a mistake! It was literally a store bought crust precooked with frozen strawberries out of a bag and a overwhelming amount of whip cream to cover it all up. The strawberries were only partially thawed out. My kids wouldn't even eat it, it was that bad. What was surprising is it was actually crowded, go figure. My wife did get the Chili Verde enchilada and said it was decent, so get the enchilada. read more

We only got one refill on our $3 drinks but noticed that the wait staff were occupied in conversations of their own so who was I to disturb them. The mormon muffin's when hot are delicious but it's not like they are free. Whether you want them or not they tack it on your bill so you might as well eat them. If you are going to offer someone a muffin make sure you are upfront that they aren't free. Kind of under handed. Came in on the Sunday morning of Spring daylight savings after stopping by our preferred breakfast location, Jeremiah's, and seeing a 25 minute wait there. We wandered the valley and settled on The Greenery. We were immediately ushered in, sat and left alone for nearly 5 or 10 minutes while the servers yakked away in the kitchen area. Not even a drink order taken. The restaurant had three other patrons and as many chatting servers in back...! It was nearly empty so there was no cause for the delay! Looking at the menu, they had maybe 2 breakfast items with a quiche on special. Both disillusioned by the service and the menu, we packed up and left without so much as seeing another server. So very disappointed. The food may have been good if someone was attentive enough to keep us there. We went back to Jeremiah's and stomached the 15 minute wait and had the meal we were looking for. read more

It is very large and she took enough home for another meal. She orders it a lot. The dressing is GF and very delicious. Husband ordered French dip. It was also very good. All their food is good homemade tasting fare. It is off the beaten path, and a little hard to find, but it is worth the drive. With the mountains as the backdrop, it is a nice place to go for a quiet meal. The portion sizes are good and they have a variety of options. The prices are reasonable.
