Only person in the store, asked the young lady, wearing the bandanna covering over her hair what one of the items on display was, it looked delicious. She answered. Then I asked which one she'd recommend, she couldn't be bothered, depends on what you want, so you need more time to decide? Frankly I should've said, NO, you decided for me, have a great day, and left. However, I did just leave, and won't return. If you can't be friendly, hospitable, courteous, or helpful, maybe retail isn't the job for you? absolutely one of the best bakeries. But the service today was the worst! I asked for a variety of cookies and one of the nice employees said they could package up six of their cookies for me. Great!! then you would have thought I was the worst person in the world to the person who bagged the cookies for me. I was not mean to her but she was a beast. This is a fabulous bread store. Located across the parking lot from our hotel. Can't get much closer than that. Just walk in through the back door (there's a sign saying it's ok), through the kitchen and up to the front of the store. A friendly employee will help you choose which breads and goodies you want. Today we had Kate help us choose the Rock Ridge Crunch bread and a Mt. Ogden Bar. Smells delicious inside and it's hard not to buy one of everything. I like great harvest but ordered for a group today and was disappointed, picked it up and online it says the sandwich comes with a pickle and cookie. Got to my car and discovered no pickles or cookies. Went inside and was told cookie did not come with it, when I showed her the website she was like oh I will have to change that and did not offer to make it right. She did give me the pickles and then she offered to "sell" me cookies after I spent close to $80 for sandwiches. Not worth the money for a sandwich and a pickle, without the cookie! Beware! First, I have had consistent 5 star experiences at every other Great Harvest location and the breads seem high quality- However: I took my family in for lunch and the food was atrocious!! The eggs in my sons egg salad sandwich felt like chewing on soft rubber, the cheese in my daughters grilled cheese tasted disgusting. We had ordered four sandwiches and all four were disgusting. We were in a rush and did not have time to complain because of the long lines. Horrible experience! read more

Me and my husband had been there before and loved it, so then we went back. The cashier ( a male) was awful, rude and honestly sarcastic. We waited for about 20 minutes for two breakfast sandwiches, then we were told that half of one of the sandwiches had felt on the floor and they had to re do it. We asked for a refund and we're told that "it wasn't fast food" by the girl that did the Sammy. Either way, another women came in asking for a bagel... they told her Einstein's brothers was good... never going back again. This was the morning crew during the Thursday shift. But the guy on the register (with a red had) was a real charmer (not really) how hard is it to smile, interact and be glad we are in your establishment? He even yawned while ringing in our order. I was being treated as a second-class citizen. I asked questions about a sandwich and soups but they allowed the two people behind me in the line to purchase their loaf of bread. We all love Great Harvest, but this location is charming and quite different from the rest. You're sure to find unique treats and sandwich flavors that aren't offered anywhere else (I.e. The Mount Ogden Bar). The owner, Chris, is friendly and outgoing. It's connected to an adorable chocolate/book store called The Queen Bee. I'm partial to the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I have now been to three different locations in three different states this being the 3rd in Ogden Utah. I ordered my favorite chocolate chip and oatmeal cookie and I had a small coffee to compliment it. This place boasts that all of their Bread is made with honey wheat flour water yeast and salt that's it. They have the best breads hands down along with other treats like scones, cookies and a pretty eclectic breakfast and lunch menu. Everything that you see when you walk in is fresh it's made daily... the cookies are just unbelievable. Visiting for work and saw that the bakery was by the hotel we were staying at. It was a mixed experience for me and my compatriots. We went in and it is a pleasant place. Clearly a working bakery. We were greeted warmly, but then we started to have some problems. My first friend asked if they made egg breakfast sandwiches. The response he was given was a resounding no. He walked away in surprise. Being partially deaf I didn't hear the exchange. And then my other co-worker ordered a Deluxe half sandwich, a coffee and some water. I ordered a full Deluxe. We waited. And waited. My friend left and went to get his gear and the car. And we waited. The cook came over and said they had run out of onions. We both told him that was fine. And we waited. We asked about them about taking them to go now since it had been about 20 minutes at this point. They said they needed to needed to cook the eggs and bread. We were very patient and waited a few minutes longer. They offered some bread to tide us over, but we didn't want any. We needed to get going. Finally the sandwiches came out and we left. The sandwich wasn't bad, but clearly 20+ minutes to make a sandwich is not normal. The ranch cream cheese was a nice touch, but again it was not of the level I was expecting. My co-worker made the same comment about his. He stated that the coffee was awful (he used much stronger language). And clearly we were not happy about the amount of time it took to get our food. Great Harvest on 25th Street is exactly that, Great! The owner Chris is so genuine and loves his customers. We literally hug every time I see him and scream loudly. Avoid if you appreciate good customer service from the owners of establishments. I've enjoyed the bread from Great Harvest since discovering them a couple of years ago. Unfortunately my ratings are highly based on customer service, especially when the owner himself is involved with the transaction. I ordered two loaves of bread from the North Ogden location and had a pickup time of noon. My number was given during the order and All information was read back to me to confirm accuracy. I arrived right at noon and to my surprise, was told that my order wasn't fulfilled. I was given an reason from that specific employee who happened to be very apologetic. I asked to speak to the owner and was directed to call the 25th location. I called and was asked to call back 10 minutes later. After waiting on the phone for a few minutes, I spoke to Chris who told me how busy they were, blah, blah, blah. I was "lucky" though because I could drive even further to their 25th Street location and pickup my order (I live in Brigham). I arrived at the other location to be offered a stellar deal for the inconvenience, I could go ahead and pay full price!! Yay! If there was a next time, call me ahead of time. Don't make me drive to one location to find out that my order wasn't completed. You said someone tried calling, that's a full on lie. They confirmed my number at the time of the order, I would have got the call. Make some sort of attempt at making thing right. read more

Inexpensive prices lend themselves to a quick, cheap lunch. The food quality is decent, but by no means amazing. Because past service and food were good, I will come again to update about this, but I was not impressed with my salad yesterday. Limp lettuce, not enough dressing, and no seasoning to speak of. But it was cheap and generously-portioned. The soup was warm, not hot. I'd wager it had been defrosted. The decor is cool (wood floors, baking stuff strewn about), and there is additional seating in the adjoining knickknack shop. I like this place but would also like to see them up the food quality. Definitely stop at Great Harvest wherever you find one! Ogden has a couple, Sugarhouse, Sandy and all the Farmer's Markets during the summer. Any bread you try you will love. The downtown Ogden location is lovely and has wi-fi. Only problem is it is closed on the Sabbath. I know, I should be used to that by now. Whatever you do, do NOT try the cinnamon rolls. I had the veggie sandwich, which had just the right mixture of flavors and veggies.
