I visited here last week. I was happy to find a Green Olive closer to home since I love the one by work in Downey. I asked when I walked in if it was the same owners thay said no, but decided to give it a try anyways. My daughter ordered the shrimp skewers with rice and salad on the side, I ordered the chicken and beef mixed plate also included rice and salad. My daughter loved her shrimp the rice she left most of it. Thats odd she never leaves the rice. My chicken was good my beef a little bland. Overall my experience was just ok... Last time I came here is got the beef gyro wrap. Completely underwhelmed. For $9.25 it had 4 small pieces of meat, literally four cubes. The potatoes were not how I had them last time, last time they had some green sauce . Will not be coming back. I'm fine paying $9 for a wrap but it has to be a damn good wrap not this. This review is strictly based on customer service and absolutely not the food (because the food is delicious)! Today as usual I preordered my food using the Yelp App "order food" option... As I proceed to pick up my prepaid order I also "checked in" via the app to earn my free 20 oz. drink. As usual I wait to click on the "use offer" feature until being attended at the counter...Which I did... But the guy providing me with the service was either in training or typically doesn't handle the customers... Regardless, I informed him I was using my free offer and clicked on the "use offer" button on Yelp and right away realized he had no clue what I was talking about because he kept looking at my prepaid print out receipt and mumbling something but clearly lost... Out of respect I waited (since we've all been down that path) then proceeded to inform him that I needed a drink because I "checked in"... By this time the owner came by and pointed to the receipt and said to him... "He's good you don't have to charge him because he's already prepaid see?!" I proceeded to inform the manager that I was good just needed my free drink for checking in... He asked me to show him the countdown timer as proof that I checked in... This is the part where he wins the customer service award... I informed him that I couldn't show him the timer any longer because I tried showing it to the guy that charged me (who had walked to the kitchen at this point) but he completely ignored it and the timer expired... Owner says well I need to see the timer... I repeated that I tried showing the guy the timer but he wouldn't look at the phone because he didn't know what I was asking him to do... He said it's ok just show me the timer... At this point I'm like WTF?!!! I continued to show him my phone and continued to click on the check in "button" but it wouldn't let me due to the fact that I had already checked in and even showed him the button that states "checked in"... He proceeds to tell me it's ok just do it again so I can see the timer... At this point I tell him "it won't let me, here you try" and handed him my phone and he says (are you ready for this!) "I don't know how to do it"... Blown away at this point but it gets better... He then proceeds to lecture me on the importance of showing him the timer... So I asked him kindly the following question... "So answer me this, next time someone charges me and I show them the timer and the same thing happens to me again what am I supposed to do since it's obvious I won't be able to check back in again?" His response... "Just make sure we see the timer" WTF!!!! NO! The correct response should have been... I will make sure my staff is properly trained so that this doesn't happen to you again!!!! Also consider that I just spent about $35 and I'm asking for a free offer that costs you about $.25 out of your pocket and it's not a battle you should be picking with your customers... Pick and choose your battles please... This was extremely frustrating especially knowing that your employee was in training since you obviously had to come up to show him that I had prepaid already once you pointed at my receipt... On top of this you shouted out to the back kitchen where your employee was to ask him "Did he show you the timer?!!" This is completely an embarrassing situation to do this out loud in front of all your customers! Please consider this next time... While I believe this to be an isolated situation... I also believe that change happens when people learn from the situation and obviously I wasn't able to get through to any of you so I had to review my experience... Please consider this matter and don't let this situation occur to anyone else. Thank you. We came here on a Sunday afternoon for dinner. I had the falafel platter and gf had veggie platter. Additionally we ordered the spicy potatoes and a shrimp skewer. Gf loved the shrimp. We both loved the spicy potatoes (it's a must try). The baba ghanoush was nice and smokey. The falafel and hummus were good, not great. We both left full and with leftovers. This place was close and almost five stars so we went to get some food I ordered the vegetarian combo and Steve ordered the Kafka and Kabab combo! They were out of Tabbouleh so we had fattoush. The hummus had zero lemon and tasteless. Grape leaves mushie and disgusting. Baba ghanouj was from a can, no Smokey flavor. Falafel was ok, probably from a box! Tahini/tarator sauce yuk! Yogurt sauce ok! Fattoush had nothing to do with fattoush except that it had sumac in it. The meat and rice were subpar! The only good thing was the green sauce, which was a Latino sauce. Really like that this place is so easily accessible. Located in the industrial part of town though. Service has been great (the two times I've been) so far. Frank is super nice & will totally explain all of the different items if it's your first time. Husband and I usually get the Gyro Combo - delicious! Food is never dry - their garlic sauce is really good. Portions are big and filling. Combos usually come with rice pilaf, a side of hummus & one pita bread, and a salad. I've visited this restaurant on two occasions. On the initial visit I tried the chicken kabobs and the second time the shrimp kabobs. I was pleased with both selections. My next trial will be the vegetarian plate. Should you go during your lunch hour prepare for there not to be any available seating in the quaint establishment. This is a very popular place for the neighborhood businesses and understandably so. The food is always made fresh; it's well seasoned and very filling. Food came out pretty quick. Everything looked good. First thing I noticed was the pita bread was hard as a rock. So no real big deal. Chicken was ok not great and I didn't care for the rice. The salad was good but the tomatoes were not ripe. Overall the food was ok and I would rather eat here than a burger joint. But as far as being good Mediterranean food this isn't the place. My son wanted to experience Mediterranean cuisine for his birthday, and somewhere local. It was ok. Came in the evening around 7:30pm, the food came out quickly, The lamb was good. We found this little gem after a late night class at CSUDH and we were so pleasantly surprised with the food, the service, and the interior of it that I can't wait to go back. There is a dining area and beyond that is a really nice lounge for hookah that is so much more chill and cleaner than other hookah lounges in the area. After we ordered they brought our food out to us so we could enjoy our hookah and relax after our first day of classes. The food we ate was just awesome - grape leaves were soft and juicy, falafel wasn't too dry, and the wraps were perfect - not greasy at all. I want to thank the owner and runners who were so accommodating and happy to serve even though it was past 10 pm. I'll absolutely be back for lunch and dinner! read more
