This place is a gem! I stopped in for lunch right when they opened and had such a great experience. The restaurant was clean and the staff (just the sushi chef and one server) were incredibly friendly. It happened to be happy hour, and the appetizers were about half off. I ordered the spicy garlic edamame, gyoza, and the chef's special sushi plate -- everything came in generous portions and the sushi was so fresh. I live about 20 minutes away and would absolutely make the trip again and again.

I work right around the corner and I just tried Kumi Ko today! Their sushi was really good and tempura was fresh! I also tried their Iced Matcha drink and I would definitely recommend trying this sushi spot here in Compton! There was only one person working so it did take a little longer to get serviced but overall the service and ambiance of the restaurant was amazing! I plan on returning.

A definite hole in the wall place but the food is excellent. The owner was especially deserving of his award. We'll be back.

Clean and fast service, went on a Thursday around 5pm, food tasted fresh and good customer service. I shared monkey ball and baked lobster roll. Monkey ball was my favorite! Never had mushrooms in this way with crab meat and Philadelphia cheese. Baked lobster was good but for me it had a little too much of the sauce that was used which over powered the sushi. I also got a crunch hand roll, good taste , good size and very filling. Overall good spot! The sushi prices range from $10-20. They also have boats for 3-4 people. Will definitely be back to try other sushi!

I can confidently say that Chef Bruce served me one of the best meals I've had all year. My family and I went to Kumi Ko a few days before Christmas, and we were absolutely blown away by the quality of ingredients and the skillfulness of execution. We did an omakase style meal, where Chef Bruce basically handcrafted a menu showcasing his signature dishes. Each dish was top-notch, highlighting different flavors and sauces and textures. Two of the standout dishes were the seafood udon, which had a warm kick (chili oil I think?) and the tako sashimi which was served with a citrusy gochujang sauce. But regardless of what you order, I genuinely don't think you could go wrong. Next time our family is in LA, we will definitely be back!

What a Gem! This is truly a delicious and cozy Compton spot. Look beyond the area and go try this delicious place . We had Heart attack and creamy Shrimp for appetizers and my partner got a few fresh sushi and I got the baked salmon roll that was super creamy and yummy! The Matcha LATTE WAS very nice

Here is the receipt and it shows the tip he added. We were taking this to go, we were not eating in.

Went to place a large order and who appeared to be the manager/owner was rude and very unapologetic. He also had the audacity to give himself a huge gratuity of over $60 dollars. He also gave us 2 choices take it or leave it. So we left it. He also snatched the receipt from me, but I took a picture before hand.

Coffee Macaroon - it's a perfect way to end the meal!

This place is always fresh and delicious. I know the sushi is good because I've tried a variety of them but I was pleasantly surprised with the spicy seafood udon! It is packed with octopus, clams, and crab (imitation but still good). The spice level was great, big portion and very flavorful. Definitely give it a try! The owner is always so nice and gives the best recommendations - listen to him!

The cuisine is tasty. Eating there is really unpleasant, and the manager is unfriendly and impolite. He treats his staff poorly as well.

Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the cashier and saw the large sign with all their menu items. When she saw that we were looking at it. She immediately directed us to the handheld menu to her left. I thought that was a really nice touch and sweet of her to save us some time. The ambience is very humbling and comforting. It felt like the typical teriyaki place where you come in, eat real quick, and head out. It's very down to earth and I love that! My brother and I ordered the couples pack as well as the ultimate albacore roll. Couple Pack - 5/5 this pack came with two sets of the teriyaki protein of your choice, macaroni salad, regular standard salad, two drinks, and one order of the Love roll (which seems to be a different order of ingredients a Philadelphia roll). We were extremely surprised with the quality of the teriyaki plate. The chicken was moist perfectly, and the teriyaki sauce was made to perfection with the balance of sweetness and savory. The rice was perfectly made and was not overcooked nor dry. The macaroni salad was nothing special, but I'm not going to complain about it since it's a side dish. Same goes with the salad on the side. I will say that the salad did look and taste fresh. The love roll was perfectly balanced with the ratio of the Philadelphia cheese inside to the salmon and the rice. I will say I love that the rice was not overly packed and it was the perfect amount to complement the salmon and the Philadelphia roll. Ultimate albacore roll - 5/5 this role has a very nice kick to it. It's not overly spicy for those that love spicy food, but enough to have an enjoyable meal. For those that are sensitive to spicy I would recommend trying one bite to test your palette before devouring more. Overall, each bite was perfect and did not need much soy sauce because it was already so packed with flavor and freshness. My brother and I look forward to coming back if we're ever in the area again! I will also add I'm very astonished with today's high cost how affordable this was for two people. In total it's under $50 for the two of us and we were extremely full! Highly recommend!!!
