It was kind of difficult to find this place, but we were determined to try this place out. The positives: They give a delicious, fresh Jasmine Green Tea as long as you check in on the Yelp app. They were more than willing to help answer questions since this was our first time. I ended up ordering the Chicken Teriyaki which was pretty good with a nice, generous serving. It came with vegetables which I enjoyed. My kid, who doesn't normally eat broccoli, seemed to enjoy it too. The negative: My wife got the Alaska Roll which I also tasted and it was very unappetizing. It tasted not fresh and the salmon was subpar. Heads up - they don't provide a cup of water so be prepared to purchase a bottle of water if you prefer H2O for a beverage. Parking was quick and easy. Most spots say 45 minutes maximum parking. They also serve ramen and poke here. I may give those a shot next time, but definitely will not get that Alaska Roll. read more

I came here as I wanted to try a different place for poke bowls. I ordered a large poke bowl and found it to be a bit cheaper compared to other establishments. The fish tasted pretty standard and the sauces were as well. The only problem I had is that the imitation crab tasted a bit old, as it had a weird texture. My biggest problem is that when I entered the restaurant, the smell of rotten eggs wafted through the air. Seeing other reviews, that smell is a pretty distinct and continuous issue. I normally don't like writing negative reviews, and I waited to cool down-before I wrote this. I like to settle things before I leave with a manager or owner. I recently started a new job in the vicinity, and unfamiliar with the area. I asked a couple of my work associates, if there were any nearby eatery-they recommended this small plaza with several eateries. I walked around, and decided on having some California rolls from Poki Yaki due to it being a very hot day-wanted something light. Upon entering the establishment, the 3 people working there had already sized me up-aggressively asking me "Can I Help you", I already knew that I wanted the California rolls...that's when things started to go south. The lady behind the counter proceeds to tell me that, that Black people like the crunchy fried rolls, and that I should have that too!! I was like did I just hear her say that-wtf? I don't eat anything fried, thank you for asking! I'm a professional, and not about to cause a raucous over a very unprofessional business owner who obviously needs sensitivity guidance. I finally got my California rolls, and politely told that women behind the counter that I didn't appreciate the way she spoke to me. Instead of apologizing, she proceed to tell me I was too sensitive...again wtf? Had she apologized, and told me she would be cautious about how she spoke to customers-I would have accepted her answer....but instead she told never to come back! The California rolls were nothing spectacular, I'm sure they were from Costco. The owner's attitude toward paying customers has a lot to be desired...so this combination left a bad taste in my mouth-thus the 1 star rating so I could write this review. read more

This place has really grown on me. The first time I went I wasn't that impressed. I've been back a few more times with coworkers because there aren't too many poke options close to work. And those few visits have really changed my opinion of this place. For the price, you can't beat the amount of food you get here. For the large size, you get 5 scoops of fish, for only around $11. This is a lot cheaper than most other poke places, and their scoop sizes are very generous. The fish has also always been fresh and delicious. This last time I decided to try half and half of salad and white rice to be a bit healthier. Well they still gave me a ton of rice and also a bunch of salad. I got most of the toppings, including crab meat, cucumber, corn, masago, sesame seeds, and white onions. I mixed the ponzu and spicy 1 sauce which is tasty but wow is it spicy. I just wish they had more sauce options, that's the one negative about this place. I was absolutely stuffed from my poke and I can eat a ton but I couldn't finish all of it. You also get a free soda if you check in here, so you won't find a better deal for poke in the area. Definitely stop by here if you're craving poke. read more

Great poke for whats in the area! Seems like they'd get pretty busy around lunchtime M-F as it is located in the middle of many offices/warehouses. I came here for poke, but they do have other asian options available, but I think most people come here for poke. Came in around 12:45pm for lunch on a Tuesday and there were a good amount of people sitting inside/outside finishing up their lunch. Parking is available but it does feel a bit cramped. Parking is available on either side of the building. The poke was pretty good. The regular bowl was pretty filling as you get 3 scoops of protein (most places give you about 2) and lots of toppings to choose from. The owner and employee were really nice and helpful. you can also sample the sauces before putting it on your bowl. Quality of the poke was good and the amount of food you get for a regular bowl was very filling! read more

This place needs to hire smarter people to run the cashier. The cashier not only spilled my Poki bowl, I had to get in line to make a new one. To top it off, she over charged me instead of giving me a discount or a complimentary drink for her clumsiness. I ordered a regular Poki bowl which is $9.95 plus 10% the total is about $10.95. She charged me $13.17. I had to call and make it clear to their manager they over charged! Currently on the search for the best BYO poke spot in the area. After my visit at Poki Yaki, it is safe to say that the hunt continues. Regular -- Their regular gets you 3 scoops of protein of your choice. My typical go-to's are spicy tuna, yellowtail and albacore. Being that they didn't have yellowtail as an option, I opted for a scoop of the regular tuna. They don't mix their spicy tuna with the rest of the fish, which I personally find odd. I like the added spiciness and contrast in texture mixed together. They have a few different sauces to choose from that are pretty versatile to appease the different tastebuds. Ula' ula' is supposed to be their least spiciest but I found it to be el fuego. Even with the extra ponzu, I found it to be borderline unenjoyable. Don't order this sauce if you can't take heat. All of the fish looked to be old, almost questionable. The albacore was dry and the tuna seemed stiff. The spicy tuna, however, was tolerable but with it being mashed up and masked by the spiciness, I'm not sure how it could've been bad. Their portions are disappointing. I understand many poke businesses practicing discretion when it comes to scooping fish but they are straight frugal with the portions here. Our bowls seemed to have more toppings than fish when we didn't have very many toppings to begin with. The parking is chaotic. It's a shared lot with several other restaurants so the logistics are pretty much a cluster fcuk. Proceed with caution. read more

Last week I had the Chicken Teriyaki w/ steamed white rice from Poki Yaki. This dish did not disappoint. The flavor from the teriyaki was excellent and robust enough for me to roll the rice into the chicken and eat all of it together. In addition, what a good spot for lunch! We can sit inside now (LA County opened limited indoor dining) and this center also has patio dining available too. Outside dining does seem to fill up on some days, but all in all we can always find a table to enjoy our lunch at. read more

Been here 3 times already and I love how it's SUPER close by my work (approx. 5 mins away!) When this place first opened up, about within a month, the line was OUT the door! But of course as newness goes away, it starts to get smaller - but that doesn't mean that the quality isn't there! It's still there! These "chipotle" style, make your own poke bowls aren't going away and just seems so much easier to do since you can customize as to your liking! I'm just the sucker for poke places in general haha! From brown rice/white rice/chips and salads and add whatever toppings you want to make it your's! Fish is definitely top notch (not HI quality, but hey, it's pretty good for being in CA!) Good customer service that will help you decide on what you want for your bowl! My usual go to bowl - Half brown rice and half salad (yes, you can half anything!) with Salmon, Spicy Tuna and Scallops with Spicy 2 and Sesame Oil + Ponzu Sauce. It's also fairly priced for a regular bowl under $10! Parking: that whole lot is a cluster F! Definitely a hit or miss, but pretty easy to find before 11 and after 130 for sure! read more

I went for lunch today and I ordered the salmon baked roll and the crunch roll. The food was not bad, but pricey. I paid $29 for those two rolls. I did get some Musubi for free, which was nice. I don't like Musubi so I gave them to sister and she said they were tasty. I gave them 4 stars since the staff was friendly and sushi was decent for a fast food place. Fresh fish .. In Carson (OK let's be honest this is Compton). This is not a drill. PARKING: It gets CRAZY packed at 12PM, so be prepared to park on the street where your car may be hit by an 18-wheeler, or go early/late. The plaza also has a bunch of other great lunch spots (Apple Spice, Green Olive, Pacific Pho) and can get packed. FOOD: -Build Your Own Poke Bowl: I usually get the regular, and it's plenty of food for a medium-appetite. The regular contains 3 ice cream scoops sized (they literally scoop it with an ice cream scoop) fish portions, choice of vessel (white/brown rice, salad, chips), and toppings. My go-to is their spicy tuna (a must!), salmon, and their Ola Ola 2 (decently spicy). For you avocado lovers, you can add a half avocado for under $2. They also offer hot food (kimchi fried rice, udon, etc), however, it's a much more limited menu compared to the previous tenant (RIP SANSAI). I ordered their udon to-go, and there was something off with the broth. FYI - they sometimes have sewer issues, and the place can smell. These days it's best to take to-go.
