The last time I came was sometime last year. I used to love the food here. Things to note that have changed. The spice levels are now serious lol, they pour less broth, and the fried rice changed. I've been going to Tomizo since they opened. There were a few months after the initial visit that I didn't go and I'll explain in a sec, but since then I come probably twice a month now. Ironically speaking, I do not like Sapporo style ramen. I've never been a fan of Miso ramen, and for some reason Sapporo style is just something I do not enjoy. That being said, everyone I know that does like Sapporo style ramen say it is good. But then, why am I giving this place 5 stars and why do I eat here so often? Tomizo added tsukemen to their menu, and they have the best tsukemen in the area. It's a very rich heavy fatty tsukemen, and it blows away everywhere else's tsukemen in the area. The portions are always extremely generous as well. The most important thing is, they use actual tsukemen noodles, they are fat and thick, while a lot of places near here give you ramen noodles for their tsukemen. The other thing I absolutely love about this place is that they have seasonal ramen, and while I'm not a huge fan of some of them, other times they are just amazing. The current seasonal ramen is a cold cream tonkotsu style, and it is absolutely divine. My partner got it last night and it was so good, I wanted to come back tonight to get an order of it myself. I absolutely hope they decide to add it to their main menu permanently, because a cold ramen dish would be a god send to have readily available. The staff are all wonderful, incredibly attentive, and are all very cheerful and upbeat. The music variation changes quite a bit. Sometimes it'll be vocaloid heavy, other times it'll be very late 90s sounds of Tokyo (Fantastic Plastic Machine, Pizzicato Five), or sometimes an early 2000s jpop play list. As someone a little older I don't think there's ever been a time I didn't enjoy the music being played. They also always have dodgers games (reruns during the offseason) playing on a tv for the local fans. The only real bad thing about Tomizo is the parking lot is tiny and shared with a sushi place that can get busy. So parking can be difficult sometimes. read more

This was our first dine-in experience. We weren't the only ones eating a late dinner! We ordered to share: Chicken nanban. They serve it with a tartar sauce of sorts. LOVE LOVE LOVE this ramen spot!!! I always order the Spicy Miso Ramen and add egg! The food's freshness and great taste makes me feel like I'm dining in Japan (just wish I could get Saki to go lol). They don't open til 5pm which works bcuz after a long day of work, we like to treat ourselves instead of cooking lol. We haven't sat down to dine in. Maybe one day we will have to try. We came through on a Tuesday. It was very empty only a few people throughout. I got the spicy miso ramen level 1 (was just mild) the charsiu was very tender. The karaage with the curry sauce was awesome! I would love to try to make that myself one day. The special ramen which they serve only 5 per day was very veggie heavy. Personally I wouldn't have gotten it again. But it is very filling so to each their own. The restaurant was small maybe around 25-30 people seating. The service was very good. The waitress was attentive and checked in a lot. I do think we got overcharged since before a certain time it's a free side if you order 2 ramens. This place is small You write your name on a list and as people leave they come out check the list and call for you to come in to eat. When we showed up it was full so we waited maybe 20minutes. Service once inside was fast they don't have too big of a menu. Ramen was delicious we added corn aand an egg to the spicy one. Shrimp tempura was perfect The shu mai was interesting, had maybe some rice inside and was sweet which was new to me. This was my first time stopping by and luckily I got there early for dinner to try their limited Tomizo Ramen for $15! It's a garlic shoyu tonkotsu base topped with bean sprouts, cabbage, onions and LOTS of garlic which I loved! It's served with a thick flat noodle, and you can add more toppings like a ramen egg if you like. The broth was SO flavorful and it definitely hit the spot on a cold night. The combination of a shoyu and tonkotsu broth makes it umami rich and delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor and a strong taste of garlic which I loved. I wasn't the biggest fan of the noodles since it reminded more of a pasta noodle, but they were still thick and had a great texture. The other ramens on their menu either have a miso or shoyu base, so I'll check it out next time. Definitely recommend stopping by to try this ramen. read more

Came here late night on a Friday and it truly is a hole-in-the-wall gem! My sister and I signed up for the waitlist and waited approximately 20-30 minutes to be seated since it's very small inside with limited seating. However, once we got inside, the service was very quick. We got our ramen within 5-10 minutes and it was so delicious! I ordered the scallop miso butter ramen and wow. It was amazingly fragrant and creamy and salty in the best way possible. The corn adds a nice sweetness to balance out all the flavors. Two were available but my friend didn't want Tomizo ramen because they can't separate the bean sprouts. The Tomizo ramen is in-my-opinion, mostly veggies and two small meats. If you love veggies, this ramen is great. There's probably same amount of veggies as the noodles. I couldn't finish the ramen but I also should have gotten a different ramen. Delicious Ramen with great service! My friend and I went in and both got the Spicy Miso Ramen. I got a level 4 spicy. It wasn't that spicy, but my tolerance is really high. I will get level 5 next time. We got appetizers, definitely recommend the shrimp shumai! Very good! The restaurant is very small. We were the first ones there when it opened, so we got sat right away. However, by the time we left, there were 5 people waiting outside. The restaurant looks like it seats about 20-25 people. Realistically, 7 parties of 2-3 people from the way the tables are set up, and 10 of those seats are at the bar. Cute date spot, or a friend hangout for small groups. I don't think it would be as convenient if it was a big group unless you are the first ones there to sit a party if 10. They did get a lot of people coming in for take out! Good quality ramen that stays open late is definitely a good option for those that have late night munchies. My wife and I stopped by after watching a movie and we opted for the #3 Spicy Miso and the #4 miso butter corn scallop ramen. Both dishes had bold rich broth, but the miso butter broth was richer of the two. Both dishes came with perfectly cooked al dente noodles that perfectly picked up the broth with each bite. The #4 is definitely the better of the two choices because with just a few extra dollars your getting a bunch of extra ingredients and overall is a better ramen dish with richer and bolder flavors. Not a good experience. Parking lot is chaotic. Management is atrocious. Felt so bad for the lone server who had to do everything from hosting, clean and bus tables, take orders, answer phones, organize to-go orders, pour drinks, and serve the food. And did all this with two managers constantly peak out the kitchen to supervise, but not help. What could have been an hour dining experience was easily two and a half hours because of poor management. I Hope that kid reads this so he can know that it's not his fault. I've been on a ramen binge and spent the past year looking for the best ramen spots and though I still have not managed to find the tip top of the ramen game, I highly recommend Tomizo Ramen. Friend & I were craving ramen, went to one, sat and ordered then my friend pointed out their B rating. We searched and thankfully found another ramen spot right around the corner and that's how we landed at Tomizo Ramen! First off, for a Saturday night, it was pretty dead and I blame the location. Although it's just around the corner from a mini outdoor food court, the parking here was super scarce, 5 spaces max - although street parking is available but who wants to parallel park on a busy street on a Saturday night? Anyway... Went inside - zero wait - and the interior is super cute and cozy, but also very small so I would not recommend large groups, however, it is perfect for a date night / intimate hangout. Ordered some - in my opinion, very cheap - ramen. $12 I believe, I have not seen anything under $15-20 range and the portion was about the same as any other spot. The ramen was pretty simple, we did not add any additional toppings so there wasn't a mess in our bowls but simplicity is best. The broth was delicious. Ramen was so good my "let's catch up on our day" hangout was spent in complete silence apart from the noodles slurping. Wish I lived a little closer as I'd be a regular here. For the price and quality - quality was among the top of ramen I've tried, it was awesome - I'd say it's completely worth trying and revisiting! My friend and I ate here for dinner on a not-so-typical Tuesday night. We were immediately seated and chose the bar area as we arrived at 7:30pm. The restaurant's ambiance is certainly cozy and modern. I ordered a non-spicy Miso Ramen while my friend opted for Miso Butter Ramen with corn and chili oil. Our orders were ready within 10 minutes and the lady behind the bar was very accommodating. She was kind enough to take a few pictures for us. The ramen bowls were truly appetizing and instagram worthy. The ramen noodles were freshly cooked, the vegetables were crisp while the pork slices were absolutely tender. At first, I thought I needed more broth, but it definitely had a perfect umami taste and realized the portions were just right. It legitimately tasted like the ramen I had in Japan a few years ago. On another note, I truly dig their decorations and dedication to Shohei Ohtani, our legendary Dodger! As a self proclaimed ramen snob, this place is average. I doordashed some miso ramen and added corn and egg. The chashu is really good but the broth and noodles tasted a little off. Not super flavorful. I live less than 5 minutes away, but my order had cooled down significantly by the time I got it, which was disappointing. I used to really like this place. For a while it was my go-to ramen spot whenever I was in Torrance, and I've probably been here eight or more times in the past year. Unfortunately, my last two visits have been enough to take it off my list. Both the ramen and the service have gone downhill. The ramen I usually order just hasn't been the same. It used to have a richer, more flavorful broth, but lately it tastes flat and watered down compared to what I remember. Service was the bigger issue though. On our last visit the restaurant was practically empty, maybe four people at the bar, and when we asked for a table we were told no because it was "only for parties of three or more." That never used to be a problem, but fine, we sat where they wanted. Except then we watched a solo diner sit at a table after us, finish, and leave, followed by another couple who also got a table without question. We brought it up to the waitress, and she brushed us off and walked away. She also forgot our water twice after we asked. And I know they didn't reserve, because we were by the door and they were obviously walk ins. It's frustrating because I used to like this place, but after that experience and the dip in quality, I don't see myself coming back. Time to look for a new ramen spot in Torrance. read more
