Vegan Shoyu Ramen / karaage combo
    Janina S.

I love this place. It's a hole in the wall. Their whole menu is amazing. Multiple options. Ramen by their self or you can make a combo. It tastes great. Service is really attentive and caring. If you pay cash 4% discount fabulous. Bring the cash. Parking is available big lot.

Came as a party of 2 on a Sunday around 6 and was able to be seated at the bar right away! It's cute inside with a mid-level size of seating I got the vegan shoyu ramen. It was a pretty standard ramen but I appreciate that they did give a lot of noodles. The broth was tasty too (especially for being vegan!). We had called about food allergies previously and were told then and then in person that one of their ramens didn't have egg. When it came out, we double checked one more time because many ramen noodles contain egg and theirs did too. So it was a really good thing we checked. They quickly remade it with their vegan noodles but just a note ti be careful!

One of the best in the area! Mazesoba was delicious and very flavorful, can't wait to be back to try the Ramen as well. Staff was very friendly and service is quick! It's a small spot so expect a wait during busy hours.

I've been meaning to visit this eatery after meeting a couple in Japan who resides in the south bay and how this ramen eatery uses fish power in the broth. This is similar to a ramen eatery in Ginza I dined at, but they use real fish to make their broth. I was greeted asap and seated since we arrived in the early evening on a weekend. The decor is casual and comfy. I made my Josui ramen a combo which included a side salad and karaage chicken. The chicken was light in batter and non-greasy. My ramen had a nice flavor to the broth and the chashu had a nice ratio of fat to protein. The ramen was simple yet very satisfying. Service here was spot on and the turnaround on the food was prompt. I noticed by the time to depart that the restaurant was filled to capacity. I would definitely return here when I'm in the south bay area again.

Discovered this cozy ramen spot on artesia next to Astro karaoke and it really didn't disappoint! The karaage was tasty and juicy. The ramen broth was creamy and delicious. I especially liked the miso ramen, it's not too spicy maybe will try the next spice level next time (got the mild I think). They also provided lots of meat in the ramen! Everything was decently priced as well. Additionally lots paring and great service!

Stopped by for late lunch. They have some vegan options which is good. I liked the vegan miso ramen over the shoyu option and the garlic edamame was nice too. Service was kinda ok we had to ask for sharable plates ourselves but not a big deal. Ambience is casual. I would recommend trying this spot.

Josui ramen is one of my favorite ramen shops in the area. Their regular josui ramen soup is so comforting. It's light but rich and deep in flavor. When I come with two or more people, I like to add Karaage to share with the table. Karaage chicken is so juicy, perfect protein additions to your ramen soup. I like the Nagoya castle picture on the wall. Josui ramen originates in Nagoya Japan. Clear reminder where the shop came from.

Love this neighborhood gem that provides friendly service along with delicious authentic Japanese ramen. I went on a Saturday afternoon and the dining experience was super chill and calm. I ordered mazemen (soupless ramen noodles) while the others in my party went for broth filled bowls of ramen. Mazemen is hard to find on menus so I opted for it even though I usually get broth filled ramen! What I especially appreciated was the special care they took for children. There is a kid-size ramen on the menu, and it comes with a prize. They let you pick something cool from the toy bin. Definitely was not expecting this! I'm looking forward to going back next time I feel like a delicious bowl of ramen in an environment that isn't crazy.

One of my favorite ramen spots! The restaurant filled up quickly, but we arrived early and were able to get a table right away on the weekend. I ordered the Josui ramen with garlic oil, and it was rich, flavorful, and came out piping hot. The noodles had a great bite and texture, and the portion was generous. The chicken wings were also really good and paired well with the ramen. I cannot wait to come back and try more items on their menu!

Got here around 7 pm on a weeknight and the wait was about 15 minutes. Me and my friend were seated at the bar. All the servers are pretty helpful and knowledgeable about the menu! Now the food. By far my favorite bowl of ramen that I've tried in the South Bay, dare I say, in LA. Everything from the noodles to the broth to the toppings are perfect. The noodles are thicker with a nice bite and chew. The yolk's creaminess balances the savory pork on top. If you haven't been here for the maze soba, you must try it.

01/24/2026 Update The location is great. Good for parties 1-4, maybe up to 6 if it's not crowded. The restaurant is clean and simple design. The food is good. My favorite is the tan tan men. My dad likes their Nagoya style chicken wings. Very good here.

The front of house staff is very prompt and friendly. We received great service and the food came out quickly! The restaurant is on the smaller side and there is bar seating, but I imagine this place gets crowded during dinner rush. Ika Geso (deep friend tentacles/calamari) - 100/5, the squid is still tender and the fried batter is soo light, crispy, and flavorful!!! It's my fave app and not usually done well so I'm super impressed! Gyoza (pork filling) - 5/5, I didn't take a pic because I was so hungry. Very dense filling, juicy, and the wrapper was nice and thin. Shoyu ramen with garlic oil - 5/5, the ramen noodles have bite and are perfection. The portion is good for me, but I did have two apps. Someone else might want a second portion of noodles. The broth is very delicious, especially with the garlic oil and loved the small fried bits of garlic that made it into the bowl. Be warned the broth is SUUPER salty, sodium overload but still really good!

It is almost like a Pavlovian response whenever someone mentions a new ramen place to me: I must try it asap. So, I stopped by Josui the day after a friend told me about the restaurant. It is in a small plaza on the boarder of Torrance and Gardena. Inside it is quite cozy with table and counter seating for 30 guests max. I arrived 10 minutes after opening and the place was already almost full. The very attentive server got me seated and brought water right away. I browsed through the menu on the table and ordered Josui Ramen with Side Order of Small Salad and Gyoza Combo. The broth made of pork, chicken and fish was quite flavorful and rich without being excessively oily. The thin style noodles were cooked perfectly and al dente. The chashu slices were tender without too much fatty parts. The egg (extra charge) was nicely runny. The side order of salad was pleasantly seasoned with light miso dressing. The small sized pan-fried gyozas had nice golden brown bottoms and savory fillings. The portions were sensible and the price was reasonable. Highly recommended.

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / April 10, 2023

    No outdoor seating.

Are they open for takeout during the statewide shutdown?

So yes, they are open for take out orders only, check their note below. Dear Customers…

Are you guys "Soft" opened? Test run? Or actually open, like officially opened for business? I mean not for a few days and close again that kinda of "open"?…

    Opened for business

5/26 I drove by and a empty space with a sign for lease are you moving?

Seems like there is an review on 6/2/2019 and it is opened. But they could open for a few days and close again... who knows. Must be nice to do business like this casually.

I'm allergic to fish, do any of their broths contain fish broth/sauce?

Yes, their broths contain fish, however they have vegan ramen! :)

Are they finally open now? (4/16/2019)

There's a poster saying they will reopen April 24.

It's now 2/21 are they finally open again?

As of 3/2 evening they are still closed.

Is this place open or closed on Sunday? On google, it says it closed Sunday. On yelp it says open.

Dear Customers Notice of reopening schedule change…

I don't eat pork. Are there any chicken or veggie based broths?

They have a vegan ramen option!

They only have a couple of locations in SoCal, so there's usually a wait, but it's definitely worth it. The staff are wonderful. My go to is the Tonkotsu since that's what they're known for, and it was delicious. This time I decided to try the Black Devil Ramen, which combines their black garlic oil tonkotsu broth with their spicy tonkotsu broth. I'm really glad I switched it up because the black garlic gave the broth a much deeper, richer flavor, and the little bit of spice balanced everything out perfectly. I love spicy ramen, but not when it's so spicy that you can't taste anything else. Also added the Everything Topping and extra green onions because I'm feeling hungry. The type of spice where I can still enjoy my food and not have to worry about eating it through hiccups or anything like that. I also had a side of the spicy katsu cutlet, which I also enjoyed very much. They brought me one big piece of chicken katsu and some scissors to cut it up, which I thought was neat. But every bite I had was wonderful, as it was clearly fried to perfection. The service was also on point and our server even let us try some of their devil sauce ( I do not remember if this was what it was called but it sure was spicy). A few drops of this in my bowl of ramen and I began to sweat profusely. She said barely anyone ever orders it and I can totally see why haha. She was also super nice to us and overall provided some excellent service, I did not quite catch her name. The interior of this place also feels quite small, but it is well ventilated.
