Discovered this cozy ramen spot on artesia next to Astro karaoke and it really didn't disappoint! The karaage was tasty and juicy. The ramen broth was creamy and delicious. I especially liked the miso ramen, it's not too spicy maybe will try the next spice level next time (got the mild I think). They also provided lots of meat in the ramen! Everything was decently priced as well. Additionally lots paring and great service!

I've been meaning to visit this eatery after meeting a couple in Japan who resides in the south bay and how this ramen eatery uses fish power in the broth. This is similar to a ramen eatery in Ginza I dined at, but they use real fish to make their broth. I was greeted asap and seated since we arrived in the early evening on a weekend. The decor is casual and comfy. I made my Josui ramen a combo which included a side salad and karaage chicken. The chicken was light in batter and non-greasy. My ramen had a nice flavor to the broth and the chashu had a nice ratio of fat to protein. The ramen was simple yet very satisfying. Service here was spot on and the turnaround on the food was prompt. I noticed by the time to depart that the restaurant was filled to capacity. I would definitely return here when I'm in the south bay area again.

One of my favorite ramen spots! The restaurant filled up quickly, but we arrived early and were able to get a table right away on the weekend. I ordered the Josui ramen with garlic oil, and it was rich, flavorful, and came out piping hot. The noodles had a great bite and texture, and the portion was generous. The chicken wings were also really good and paired well with the ramen. I cannot wait to come back and try more items on their menu!

Got here around 7 pm on a weeknight and the wait was about 15 minutes. Me and my friend were seated at the bar. All the servers are pretty helpful and knowledgeable about the menu! Now the food. By far my favorite bowl of ramen that I've tried in the South Bay, dare I say, in LA. Everything from the noodles to the broth to the toppings are perfect. The noodles are thicker with a nice bite and chew. The yolk's creaminess balances the savory pork on top. If you haven't been here for the maze soba, you must try it.

01/24/2026 Update The location is great. Good for parties 1-4, maybe up to 6 if it's not crowded. The restaurant is clean and simple design. The food is good. My favorite is the tan tan men. My dad likes their Nagoya style chicken wings. Very good here.

Josui ramen is one of my favorite ramen shops in the area. Their regular josui ramen soup is so comforting. It's light but rich and deep in flavor. When I come with two or more people, I like to add Karaage to share with the table. Karaage chicken is so juicy, perfect protein additions to your ramen soup. I like the Nagoya castle picture on the wall. Josui ramen originates in Nagoya Japan. Clear reminder where the shop came from.

Love this neighborhood gem that provides friendly service along with delicious authentic Japanese ramen. I went on a Saturday afternoon and the dining experience was super chill and calm. I ordered mazemen (soupless ramen noodles) while the others in my party went for broth filled bowls of ramen. Mazemen is hard to find on menus so I opted for it even though I usually get broth filled ramen! What I especially appreciated was the special care they took for children. There is a kid-size ramen on the menu, and it comes with a prize. They let you pick something cool from the toy bin. Definitely was not expecting this! I'm looking forward to going back next time I feel like a delicious bowl of ramen in an environment that isn't crazy.

The front of house staff is very prompt and friendly. We received great service and the food came out quickly! The restaurant is on the smaller side and there is bar seating, but I imagine this place gets crowded during dinner rush. Ika Geso (deep friend tentacles/calamari) - 100/5, the squid is still tender and the fried batter is soo light, crispy, and flavorful!!! It's my fave app and not usually done well so I'm super impressed! Gyoza (pork filling) - 5/5, I didn't take a pic because I was so hungry. Very dense filling, juicy, and the wrapper was nice and thin. Shoyu ramen with garlic oil - 5/5, the ramen noodles have bite and are perfection. The portion is good for me, but I did have two apps. Someone else might want a second portion of noodles. The broth is very delicious, especially with the garlic oil and loved the small fried bits of garlic that made it into the bowl. Be warned the broth is SUUPER salty, sodium overload but still really good!

It is almost like a Pavlovian response whenever someone mentions a new ramen place to me: I must try it asap. So, I stopped by Josui the day after a friend told me about the restaurant. It is in a small plaza on the boarder of Torrance and Gardena. Inside it is quite cozy with table and counter seating for 30 guests max. I arrived 10 minutes after opening and the place was already almost full. The very attentive server got me seated and brought water right away. I browsed through the menu on the table and ordered Josui Ramen with Side Order of Small Salad and Gyoza Combo. The broth made of pork, chicken and fish was quite flavorful and rich without being excessively oily. The thin style noodles were cooked perfectly and al dente. The chashu slices were tender without too much fatty parts. The egg (extra charge) was nicely runny. The side order of salad was pleasantly seasoned with light miso dressing. The small sized pan-fried gyozas had nice golden brown bottoms and savory fillings. The portions were sensible and the price was reasonable. Highly recommended.

Excellent ramen with a rich, deeply flavorful broth. The noodles had great texture, not too soft and cooked just right with a nice bite. The portion size was very generous and satisfying. Everything we tried here was well prepared and enjoyable. The service was also great, friendly, attentive, and efficient, which made the overall dining experience even better. I would definitely come back !

Review #950 2026-014 Food Order: Karaage (chicken marinated in original sauce & spices, lightly battered & fried; lemon wedge) $6.75 Abura Soba (chashu pork, shredded nori, moyashi, menma, fresh negi, special blend of garlic oil sauce) $10.80 Josui Ramen (sliced chashu pork, nori, menma, sliced red radishes, negi; signature ramen with stock made with pork, chicken, & finished with fish) $10.80 Spicy Ramen (blend of pork, beef, garlic, chili, moyashi, fresh negi) $12.00 I've been waiting to try Ramen Josui for awhile, & what perfect timing with my new foodie gal pal, Deanna T. We met at a volunteer event, & bonded over our philanthropic passions for community services & love food. She offered to travel to my neck of the woods for a weekday lunch so here we are. Ramen Josui is located on the northwest side of The Plaza business center. It's the sister restaurant to Josui Ramen, the award-winning, Michelin Bib Gourmand in Nagoya, Japan; their other sister is located in Honolulu, HI under a different moniker: Taiga Ramen. With plentiful ramen shops in the South Bay, Ramen Josui stands out with their spicy ramen options: Mazesoba, Spicy Miso Ramen, & Spicy Ramen. The entrance is unassuming with a couple of 2-seaters, should you prefer to dining outside. Once inside, there's a large bar on the left, mostly with individual patrons, with a couple of booths & tables running along the wall; simple decor with some scattered wall art like Osaka Castle. After placing our order, we spent the next hour or so chillin' & catching up. The Karaage appetizer arrived quickly, & noshed on these hot, crisp, juicy, & flavorful chicken... it tasted great with or without the splash of lemon juice! The lemon added some bright sour citrusy flavor that enhances the chicken's savoriness. Our ramen bowls followed shortly... I can smell the spiciness of the broth, but don't breathe in too close, or you'll start sneezing when the chilis tickle your olfactory bulb. The pork & beef blend was flavorful with that spicy kick... true to their word this combo will make your taste buds tingle! The spicy broth was tasty, almost creamy, & had good depth of flavor, but it doesn't have that luscious umami flavor of SSG's tonkotsu broth. And yes, I know it's a different type of broth for the Taiwanese style ramen, but I love unctuous ramen broths. If a bowl of ramen isn't enough, turn it into a combo set for $3.50: small salad & karaage (3 pcs.), or small salad & gyoza (3 pcs.). I came back a couple of months later with my brother & we split bowls: Abura Soba & Josui Ramen. Abura Soba is a soupless ramen with tender chashu pork, shredded nori, moyashi, menma, negi, & garlic oil sauce... imagine chewy noodles (it was a bit too al dente, needed another 30-secs.) with a savory, umami garlicky sauce offset by tender pieces of pork, with contrast of crunchy bamboo shoots & moyashi, & sharp crunch of fresh green onions to the rich, oily bowl of noods. I threw in a heavy hand of togarashi for some chili heat. Next time I need to throw in a soft-boiled egg for some added richness, & creamy elements; a Jidori egg would be even better. The moniker ramen is made with their signature stock that's a balance of pork & chicken with a fish finish, so it's a lighter & flavorful broth (yep!)... throw in a couple of slices of pork chashu with nori sheet for some salty oceanic flavor, contrasted by bamboo shoot crunch & crisp, mild sweetness from radish slices (only on a couple of bites) with gentle aromatics of wilted, yet springy onions. Compact menu that consists of ramen bowls with options to upgrade to a combo set or customize with toppings, appetizers, couple of salad, rice bowl, & dessert options; moderate prices & serving sizes. If you're a night owl, their Happy Hour Beer is from Sunday - Thursday, 8:00 PM - closing; Sapporo bottle: $3, & pitcher: $12.50. Good customer service, though I would appreciate a little more attentiveness on my water glass being refilled. The Plaza has plenty of parking, but spots near the entrance get taken quickly during lunch & dinner rush. With so many ramen options, Ramen Josui is a solid ramen shop that's worth repeat visits. Slurp happy... おいしいです! Recommended: Spicy Ramen, Abura Soba, Josui Ramen, Karaage.

    Josui ramen with Karaage combo
    Bryan L.

Been here twice in two weeks, which is usually my personal threshold for "okay, this place is legit." I had the Josui Ramen with the karaage chicken combo. I normally default to tonkotsu and spots, but the broth here caught me off guard--in a good way. It's a layered stock built on pork + chicken, finished with a subtle fish note that adds depth without turning it into a seafood bomb. Clean, complex, and very well balanced. Toppings are intentionally minimal--chashu, bamboo shoots, green onions. Part of me wished for a soft-boiled seasoned egg, but that's on me (it's available as an add-on). Instead, I went with karaage combo, which was battered and fried wonderfully. Big win: Hakata-style thin noodles, and they let you order them hard, and they came out properly al dente. Also appreciate that for just a couple bucks more, you can get an extra-large beer, because hydration matters. From what I understand, all the soup flavors start with the same base stock, so I'm definitely coming back to work my way through them. If you're picky about broth and noodle texture (like I am), this place earns repeat visits.

We ordered the Josui ramen for me (with an added egg) and the spicy miso ramen (with an added egg) for my husband, and both were really good. I loved the Josui ramen for its thin noodles and how it felt light but still rich in flavor. The spicy miso ramen had a thicker noodle, so if you prefer a heartier bite, I'd definitely recommend that one instead. We also ordered the karaage, and it was really yummy, crispy and flavorful. However it didn't come with mayo on the side. The seating wasn't the most comfortable, but the place was clean, the food was solid, and I don't think they use MSG in the ramen (which I appreciated). The service was great. Overall, I'd definitely go back.

Awesome Ramen! Great flavor, hot and tasty. The restaurant has great ambiance as well. We'll worth the price which wasn't bad at all.

The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.
