It might seem strange to some people (like my husband) that a brewery is my favorite place to eat in all of the South Bay. But hot damn, this place fills my cup. HopSaint has this relaxed, completely unpretentious vibe where conversation just lingers in the air and somehow every day feels like a Saturday. It's the kind of place I just want to melt into. And HELLO, they have the best mac and cheese, in my humble opinion. (The only competition is the old Koo Koo Roo mac and cheese with those burnt edges... omg. ) How does a brewery do food AND vibes this well? I don't know, but they've nailed it. The bacon, the meats ... everything is juicy, hearty, perfectly cooked. It's what you imagine good, hearty eating should taste like, without those inconsistencies you might find elsewhere or where some dishes are meh, or the patrons or servers somehow make you feel like you don't belong. None of that here. Visiting as an out-of-towner, I wanted to love HopSaint, but given the price point, the overall experience fell short of expectations. It's not terrible by any means, but it's hard to justify returning. The menu features some nice Southern-influenced dishes you don't typically see at every brewery. Highlights and thoughts on what we ordered: Green Beans Appetizer: Easily the star of the table--perfectly seasoned with a great crisp crunch. Other Starters & Mains: We also tried the Brussels sprouts, chipotle wings, duck gumbo, and the daily flatbread special (tomato and burrata). Everything was decent, but for the price, nothing blew us away. Famous Brisket Dinner: A bit of a letdown. It came strictly with coleslaw and no additional sides. The flavor was fine--middle of the road overall. Between two 4-beer flights, we sampled most of their standard and hoppy lineup. They clearly excel at West Coast IPAs. However, the pricing structure on tasters feels steep--$6 for a 5oz pour of their Double IPA is tough to swallow, especially when calculated to cost more per ounce than iconic Pliny the Younger, which most places charge a dollar per ounce (when distributed). To cap off the 3-star rating, the 4-pack of IPA I purchased to-go was canned two months prior. Any craft beer enthusiast knows hoppy profiles fall off noticeably over time, and a brewery should really be prioritizing fresh inventory for retail sales. Total damage came out to around $200 for two adults and a child. For that price point, the value just wasn't there, leaving us feeling like something was missing from the experience. read more

I stopped by HopSaint Brewing Company for lunch on Friday to celebrate a coworker's engagement, and I'm so glad they introduced me to this hidden gem! I drive by this place at least once a week and somehow never noticed it. I ordered the chili on my coworker's recommendation, and she was absolutely right--it was incredible. The flavors were rich and delicious, the portion was generous, and it came with cornbread that was the perfect complement. I left completely stuffed and very happy! I'm not much of a beer drinker, so I tried one of their guava seltzers (I wish I could remember the name!), and it was refreshing and delicious. The service really stood out as well. Our waitress was exceptional--friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. She made great recommendations and handled our group effortlessly as coworkers arrived throughout lunch, greeting everyone with a smile and making sure we were all taken care of. Overall, this was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of the menu. Food with a bit of a unique twist. We got the BELT sandwich and were clueless when I ordered, but when it came out, I realized it was belly, egg, arugula, and tomato; a soft play on BLT. I expected it to be light, and it was even lighter than I was expecting, but unique and good. The drumlettes were good, seasoned like tandoori chicken. They looked good and incentivized the table next to us to order the same. I had their non-alcoholic beer option.. The beer is super good! I got the hoppy pils and highly recommend. If you get a flight it's like 12 bucks on average for 4 different tasters. In terms of the food, we got the killer shrimp and the garlic fries. The garlic fries were good and it was a great portion of fries. Would get again! The shrimp were very shallot forward and not spicy. If you don't love a shallot forward taste I wouldn't get them. Service was quick. I will say the food is a little expensive for what it is....and if you get more bread it's not free it's 2 extra just fyi because we didn't know and it wasn't disclosed when offered more. I would come back for the beer for sure but maybe skip food next time (although the bbq smells delicious I will have to try next time). Edgar R is fantastic. Great for beers and delicious food. I love their blondes (sandy shores) and deviled eggs. They can get really busy where it's too packed and you have to wait to be seated. HopSaint has both outstanding food and craft beer. I really like the brisket and the cornbread. The inside feels to me a bit like diner, but with modern updates. It's a great place to eat with a large group and the service is consistently perfect. Or come alone and enjoy the bar - there are plenty of seats. During the summer's heatwave it's very uncomfortable to dine at home so we came to your restaurant to escape the heat. This past Sunday was a big disappointment.... Turn up your damn AC! Turn down the music so your guests don't have to shout at each other. How does a restaurant/bar run out of Diet Coke? When the kitchen is short handed, be honest with the customers who are waiting up to 30 minutes for their meals and have the wait staff come around and inform the customers as to the delays. Remember to actually put the salad dressing on the salad and make sure the salmon that came on the salad is fresh and isn't so tough that it can't be cut. So yeah, Sundays lunch visit was a disaster. Will likely not return unless others recommend it since it's the only walkable sit down spot from my uncles other than the tiny sandwich shop across the way. Food is dry and over seasoned. I'm honestly still upset by the way we were treated before we even made it through the door. Before our service animal had so much as entered the building, we were immediately subjected to a condescending lecture about the facility's rules--as though we had already done something wrong. There was no incident. There was no misbehavior. There wasn't even an opportunity for there to be one. Gracie was calmly lying down throughout the entire interaction. And yet somehow, before we had even crossed the threshold, we were made to feel like a problem. That is what was so humiliating and infuriating about this experience. There is a massive difference between respectfully communicating a policy and speaking to someone in a way that makes them feel preemptively accused, judged, and unwelcome. Having a service animal already means navigating situations that most people never have to think twice about. The absolute last thing anyone needs is to be singled out at the entrance of a business and made to feel embarrassed over behavior that HASN'T EVEN HAPPENED. If our service animal had been disruptive, address it. If we had violated a rule, address it. But neither of those things happened. Instead, we were treated as though we needed to be corrected before we'd even done anything requiring correction. The most frustrating irony of the entire encounter is that our animal was perfectly calm and well-behaved. The person lecturing us was the one who made the experience uncomfortable. We came intending to walk through those doors, enjoy ourselves, and support this business. Instead, we walked away feeling anxious, embarrassed, judged, and completely unwelcome. So congratulations--you successfully prevented a problem that never existed while losing customers who simply expected to be treated with basic dignity and respect. We will not be returning. Awesome beer, phenomenal food!!! I've driven by this place on a number of occasions and decided to stop by. Totally surprised by the food. The beers are great, a good selection but the food got me to come back. I tried the Barbecue Plate and it was amazing! Good quantities and tender! They recommend sharing but I would have non of that. We also had the Killer Shrimp! They give you bread but if you share it, they give you two. So delicious, I should have ordered it to go so I could have taken the sauce home. I so wanted more bread... On the return trip, I wanted to test the ribs. I was not disappointed, meat full of flavor and falling off the bone. And a good sized portion to boot. When I come back, I want to try the flat bread as it seems to be the crowd favorite. Be sure and get there early, there is a wait, but it goes fast. The servers and very knowledgeable and always give good advice on what beer to pair with your meal. The place is clean and neat, lots of space and just a great atmosphere. I did notice that they received some unfavorable reviews. Seriously, leave your dog at home, no need to trash a place where the beers are awesome and the food is phenomenal!!! Stopped in to HopSaint for a late lunch in between busy weekend activities. It has a real BBQ atmosphere with some picnic style tables as well as bench seating. They have a great selection of beers and ciders and not only their own. Very wide selection of comfort food choices. The jidori chicken was a special today, and they also had available their house made smoked brisket so we opted for the BBQ plate to share - which had both as well as the smoked sausage. Fantastic flavors and juicy chicken. BBQ sauce served on the side so you could appreciate the subtle smoky aroma in the meat. Almost every time I visit family in the South Bay, I also stop my HopSaint for a bite and brew. I thought I should update my review There are so many reasons why I really love this place....the top reason is that they have great food and beer. This visit I shared a hanger steak salad and killer shrimp appetizer with my sister. I got the short rib plate (a special this day) to go for my husband. As always, the food was delicious. The hanger steak was cooked to perfection and the dressing was spicy and fresh but not overbearing. The killer shrimp lives up to its name and we always order this dish when we dine in! I have also had so many other dishes that I need to call out. The flatbreads are really good and great for sharing as are the daily bbq specials. Although I didn't drink any beer at this visit I love many of their beers, especially their IPAs. The service is always on point. Came in because of a yelp review that stated the owner didn't allow their child to loudly watch a device in the restaurant. That's a huge draw for my mom and I so we came in for a peaceful meal. Finally we tried this local spot and man was it good. I got the smoked pork back ribs which were super tender and the barbecue sauce was so tasty. It came with the house slaw which was pretty good too and normally I don't like other coleslaws besides KFC. I also ordered a side of regular fries. Those were yummy as well. Love HopSaint! Tonight I got the smoked brisket plate with coleslaw, I love the brisket here! The coleslaw is good but I'll try it with fries next time. I drink the Kolsch Enough beer and it is so good!! Unfortunately they didn't have the 4 pack to go of that beer. I was dining alone and sat at the bar, they were very welcoming and make you feel at home. It was a Monday night and they were really busy, I'm so glad to see how well they are doing. It's the first time I've been since they put the new gym where the 99 cent store was and parking lot was really full but I was able to find a spot in the back. I use to live nearby but moved last year. When I'm in town I like to come back and enjoy the beer, food and good service. I've eaten here 4 times now and it always sounds good when the server describes the daily specials and the menu reads well but is has consistently been fatty, salty, meager portions of meat.... with meat (after beer) kind of being their thing, right? See pix of pastrami sandwich... some decent (and salty) goopy stuff on nicely toasted bread... good french fries... and what felt like two ounces of pastrami.
