First of all, there is plenty of self parking and we arrived on time for our reservation and were quickly seated at our table. Our server Stefani was simply amazing! The char on the filet was the best I may have ever had... and that's saying something coming from a steak capital the likes of Houston, TX! Skip the peppercorn sauce- go for the red wine butter reduction instead. It. Is. Devine. Stopped in Friday for a light bite and WOW, was it great! They had tomato bisque as a special with delicious croutons. So smooth, creamy and flavorful. Four of us had dinner here to celebrate a birthday. The food was generally good, with some hits and misses. The shrimp cocktail amd Brussels sprouts salad were good, but the crispy lumpia were just ok with not much flavor. The steaks were well prepared and properly seasoned. But the mac n cheese was mostly mac and not much cheese. The asparagus was creative and it was nice that they brought us a birthday dessert. Our server was also a bit inconsistent - disappearing for long stretches of time. We waited over 15 minutes at the end of our meal to get our check and finally had to flag down a different server. My daughter and I came here for our annual pre Valentine's Day dinner -- a tradition that means so much to me because she's my first love, my first true love, and my forever Valentine. We had such a wonderful experience! I ordered the ribeye steak, which was cooked perfectly, and she had the shake beef with sticky rice -- it was absolutely delicious. We each ordered a dessert (because why not?!) and both were amazing. Oh, and I must add -- their lumpia egg rolls are our favorite. Definitely a must-try! We order them every time. The drinks were also so good. They didn't have exactly what I was craving on the menu, but our waiter was incredibly accommodating. I told him I wanted something similar to a lemon drop, and he went to the bartender and had a custom berry cocktail made for me -- and let me tell you, it hit the spot! I would honestly go back just for that drink. It wasn't overly crowded for a Friday night, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The vibe was lively without being overwhelming, and one of my favorite things about this place is the music. They play such a great mix of R&B, hip-hop, and a little bit of 80s -- it's the perfect blend and always sets the mood. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. Fries are to die for! Such a funky shape. You can ask for them without the beef tallow, ask for the veggie fries. Service is friendly and they check in often. This is the most disappointing steakhouse experience I have had in the south Bay. First off the restaurant itself was not very full, and the atmosphere was not very lively, which was a bit surprising on a weekend. Then the stakes themselves were not very high-quality the so-called Wagyu, New York steak that we ordered which was 90 something dollars did not taste like a Wagyu high and steak at all. In fact it tasted like something that may have been previously frozen or was purchased as a choice cut and that it was chewy. I also didn't care much for the sides which I thought were over sauced. The real kicker was even though one of our party members had their birthday and the server was repeatedly told it was their birthday. They did nothing special at all. There was no candle and no birthday mini cake only after our dessert when we mentioned it did the other server say oh they did not know that and that they normally should be something done so clearly there is no coordination given the other outstanding steakhouses in the area like BOA or slay steakhouse I really don't feel like I would go back. read more

I'm currently here for Mother's Day and I'm sad to report that this is officially the longest I've ever waited for food in any establishment. For a steakhouse, you would expect a higher standard of service. Our rvsp for a party of 6 was at 1:30pm. We got seated at 1:45pm. Our server right off the bat mentioned he is not familiar with brunch and is usually only here for dinner and couldn't help us on the menu. We ordered our drinks and one appetizer which came out in about 10 mins. We ordered our food at 1:50pm. It is now 3:10 pm. You do the math. People around our table who got here before us still didn't get their food either. The server came by after 45 mins and apologized and admitted they were not prepared. The server offered complimentary bottomless mimosas which was appreciated but didn't make up for the wait. Literally 3 tables next me were so unhappy. I had to apologize to my mom for the wait at I hope this would be a great steakhouse experience. Sad to report I won't be coming here again. Update it is now 3:20 and we decided to leave after no food. The manager apologized and gave us a complimentary steak to share before departing. Sorry mom! read more

Pacific Standard Prime is situated in an interesting complex. The facility is a mix of residential and retail. Retail and some parking are at street level; residential is above. Entrance and egress of the parking structure is easy. Just pay attention to which parking spaces are reserved for businesses, and which are for residential guest parking. On this visit, our table ordered: an appetizer of sugar cube melon and prosciutto ($20.00), and a bottle of wine ($60.00). For entrees: The Australian Lamb Loin & Riblets ($60.00); Norwegian Halibut ($60.00); and 16 oz Black Opal Rib-eye ($95.00). For sides: Brussel Sprouts ($15.00) and Sautéed Mushrooms ($15.00). For dessert, the table shared a mixed berry sundae ($15.00). With tax of $33.15, out ticket was $373.15, before gratuity. The lamb was prepared well. The caption "loin and riblets" describes the presentation. (They're fancy lamb chops.) The lamb had all of the best features of lamb, without gaminess (a reason why some do not like lamb). The plate included moussaka. If you are dining alone, I consider this a complete meal, without the need of an à la carte side dish. The halibut was prepared well; but it verged on dry. I attribute this less to kitchen preparation, and more to this one piece of fish. The dish also came with lobster ravioli and asparagus, in a lobster-cognac sauce. If you dine alone, this is a complete plate, without the necessity of side dishes. The "Opal" rib-eye was described as beef derived from a cross of wagyu and European cattle. The steak had a good flavor. It was aged, but not gamey. It was moist, but not fatty. The steak was the plate. If dining alone, consider ordering a side dish. This restaurant has an indoor dining room; some outdoor seating; as well as a bar section, with a limited number of tables. Overall, the decor is quite nice. It was not busy during our visit. I attribute this to the fact that dinner service starts at 5:00pm, and we dined at 5:30pm. Regardless, our server (Stefani) was very good. This review is for a cooking class I took recently at the restaurant. The best part is the honor bar, so if you're into drinking generous amounts of wine this is your place! They had a Chardonnay and a cab that day. The cost of the class included the food, honor bar and gratuity so a great value for heavy wine drinkers all for $100. In terms of the food it was also good, with the best dish being the Jidori chicken mushroom and scallion crepes. The only thing I wished was that we got two instead of one crepe since it was sooooo good. Recommend the cooking class to those who love wine. read more

I should have known better... Mother's Day and Valentine's Day are probably the two days you just don't go out to eat. But I thought brunch would be different, and honestly, I thought if anyone could pull it off, Pacific Standard could. Wrong. We made a reservation for 7 people at 1:00 PM to celebrate both my mom and mother-in-law. We waited to eat all day and were really looking forward to it. First disappointment was being told the trio option that's on the website wasn't available. Not a huge issue, just a letdown. But then things really went downhill. We didn't even order until around 1:30. Long wait, but we tried to be understanding because it was a holiday. The food finally came out after 3:00 PM and was honestly terrible. My child's pancake had to be sent back THREE times: * First one was freezing cold * Second one came out burnt to a crisp * Third one still wasn't edible My chopped salad was basically a bowl of cabbage. Nothing "chopped" about it besides cabbage overload. The steak and eggs my husband ordered tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour. At the end, the response was essentially: "Sorry about that." They said we took off your drinks... two sparkling waters, and apple juice, and comped the brie appetizer. To top it off, they said they also automatically added gratuity because we were a large party. The $10 sourdough bread was enough for about 1 person, the calamari was good, and the server himself was educated on the menu. The food itself was insanely overpriced and very small portions. Each side came in a bowl about the size of a cereal bowl and wasn't enough to split between two adults properly. The steaks were fine and the temps were correct. I truly don't believe mine was SRF or that the filet's were prime, or the ribeye was Tajima. They lacked marbling and texture for all 4 of them. Like the last reviewer, I was also here on Mother's Day and also had a negative experience. Our server also told us off the bat that he normally works dinners, not brunch. Our food took about an hour to arrive, but we were the lucky ones as the tables around us waited much, much longer. My husband had gotten bottomless mimosas, but was only able to get two refills as our server wasn't around. Some of our items also got mixed up, and two dishes that we didn't order came to our table, while other dishes we did order never arrived. Each time we asked for the dishes that didn't arrive, our server asked if we wanted to just take it off the check - making it quite obvious he didn't want to have to get them. Unlike the previous reviewer, we were not offered free mimosas or steaks. We did see the owner there, but he did not stop at our table the way he normally has during previous visits. If this were my first time at PSP, I'd never return. However, I've been here numerous other times and had great experiences, hence the three stars and not one. I'm not a big bread person but I really enjoyed this. It was perfectly baked, warm, soft on the inside with a delightful chewy and crispy thin crust. It came with a delicious aromatic olive oil and a compound butter with edible florals. - Porterhouse Steak - made up of a filet and New York strip, served cut from the bone and sliced. I especially enjoyed the filet side. Overall, it was a good steak but not amazing in my opinion. Not as good as Mastro's, but for the South Bay, it's probably one of the best in this area along with The Arthur J. - Charred farmers market chimichurri broccoli - skip this. I wouldn't get this again. I was expecting more of a charred flavor but it was overpowered by too much acid/citrus. It had a sour taste and an unbalanced flavor profile. Maybe it was an off day. Some of the basics were there. Decent ambiance. A perfect Old Fashion. An amazing bourbon list if that's really all in stock. The server was super nice. The bread boule was kinda perfect. The steak (Black Opal New York?) was great... as it should be for $75. The drink arrived pretty quickly. Downsides... Everything else showed up about 45 to 60 minutes later. That's too long, right? At least get me my bread within 10 or 12 minutes. We were there when they opened and there could not have been more than 6 people in there when we sat down... are you really waiting until game time to start baking the bread that half the tables are going to be ordering? I mean, my back-of-house restaurant expertise kind of ends with four seasons of The Bear... but I've been eating in them for over half a century so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. And it wasn't this. I could see what the issue was... a party of 8 people got seated about five minutes after us and that was all she wrote. But if one semi-large party is going to impact other tables... you gotta figure out a better game plan. The last thing you want... the last thing I want... is to have me, the customer, craning my neck like an owl on meth, trying to catch the server's eye to see where the f the food is. Aside from that, the only other two things we ordered were brussels spouts and a salad. I get that you are trying to do something with a basically inedible vegetable (brussels sprouts)... you have to "jazz it up"... but these were smothered in some vaguely asian semi-spicy sauce and it didn't really work and the LAST adjective I'd use to describe them would have been "crispy". (Bit we complained and the very nice server brought out some without the gochujang. They weren't any crispier or tastier but appreciated the attempt.) Last... can we talk about the "Unclassic Wedge"? Not sure why they think it was not "classic"... all the ingredients seemed pretty typical for a Wedge Salad... it was just not very good. To me, a Wedge Salad is just a big chunk of iceberg lettuce and the only think that makes it fun is the decadent addition of bacon, blue cheese crumbles, shallots and tomatoes. This had some kind of ground up bacon and not much of it or anything else. Anyway, out food arrived at about the hour mark. My wife and I came there for "classic" steak house... playing The Strokes 10 decibels too loud did not add to the ambiance. It might be the PERFECT ambiance for some people but since I'm writing the review... I want classy/mellow tablecloth-and-candles. And I love The Strokes. When I lived in Texas I would partake in the local fair- steak. Now back in the south bay I took my family to the top rated steakhouse. 1 exec summary Great ambiance. Great service. Above average food. Easy access. Premium price but a place you want to dwell in and enjoy. 2- food The steaks are above average. But not quite to the level that you find in Texas. California struggles with great steak and bbq. Texas struggles with great Japanese and Mexican. The calamari appetizer was a 3.5. It was slightly better than average being not greasy. But the coating flaked off readily The side of mashed was quite good. I got the filet mignon at medium rare and it was easily a 4. I'd say it was missing just a bit of the "crust" flavor that you expect from a high temperature sear- which is why you go to steakhouses 3- service Really great support and banter with the waiter. Very attentive without being overly pushy. Great suggestions in helping to navigate the menu. The bar staff screwed up my first drink order but they fixed it immediately. 4- ambiance So cal cool. A sophisticated place where you never feel rushed (there are South Bay trendy restaurants that give you a time limit. That stresses me out). Relax, enjoy .. we ended up having too many desserts (the crème brûlée is to die for ) and after dinner digestives because they were so awesome with us just sitting there and enjoying the experience. I love that 5- parking Why we chose to experience this restaurant vs Rex in the village was parking. Parking in Rivera is a hit and miss affair. The parking here is reserved behind the restaurant. The food was excellent! from giant, jumbo shrimp cocktail, entrees: duck, lamb, & fish. Plus large salads. All delicious. Service was prompt & friendly. Pricy but worth the treat. read more

Finally came back for a Holiday dinner with friends. Still one of the better steakhouses in the Southbay with a HUGE whiskey selection. Service and ambience was excellent and Kevin stopped by to say hello. Also went to HH here a week earlier which was nice. 4pm - 6:30pm in the bar, Tuesday - Thursday and Sunday. read more

Had a great time having dinner in this place with friends the other day. In my opinion, The best part of this restaurant was their impeccable and friendly service. However I think the food was just okay. For the steak, I still love Mastro's a little bit more. I found the steak seasoning was a little bit bland. I did, however, enjoy my pumpkin espresso martini though! read more

Yesterday I attended Christine's Spring cooking class and had a fantastic time! As always, I left VERY full and with some fantastic recipes to try at home. Every time I eat at PSP's I think I have the best food ever and with the great, friendly service on top of that -- it is my favorite place for any meal. What a wonderful experience! read more
