This is a long over due review. Hard to believe it all started in a garage during 2020 and turned into the SouthBay's Best Burger place! I've been a fan for quite a while and am loving watching them grow! Owner Matt is seriously living his foodie dream. He gave up his solid corporate job and made his culinary dream come true! The new Redondo location is a great spot with an out door patio and dining room. It's bright and filled with music and even some arcade games. Order at the counter and you're give a pager for when your order is ready to devour! Today was a weekday so I ordered the PS Original burger. It's an outstanding smash burger filled with quality meat, seared perfectly on the flat top to get some of that grilled crunch. If it was the weekend, get the Brunch Burger, OMG it's so good!! I always get the tots. They're always perfectly crispy and compliments any of their burgers. If they offer a "special burger" it's always worth mixing it up and ordering it, or even a Big Fish sandwich that was available in April and was a special treat, their collab burgers like their Butan Burger which was insanely good! I got to try Proudly Serving once before when they were still at their original spot inside Naja's Place at the Redondo Beach Pier. I am happy to see how much they have grown since then - with restaurants in Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach and Long Beach. It was my first time to check out this Redondo Beach location. Just in time for AAPI Heritage Month, Proudly Serving collaborated with Filipino American kickboxing champion Jackie Buntan. Jackie grew up in the South Bay and is a fan of Proudly Serving, thus leading to her collaborating with them. The Buntan Burger by Jackie Buntan x Proudly Serving is a celebration of Filipino heritage and flavor in every bite. It has a double patty, mozzarella cheese, banana ketchup aioli, longganisa, and atchara on soft pandesal from Gemmae Bakeshop. I really enjoyed this burger. I loved how they used pandesal and how they had a lot of Filipino ingredients in this burger. The longganisa paired well with the burger patty and gave the burger a nice, sweet touch. I also really liked the touch of banana ketchup aioli and atchara. Aside from The Buntan Burger, I got the PS Fries. I've gotten these fries before and they still remain to be some of the best fries I've ever tried. The thick fries are so crisp and delicious. I am fan of the generous toppings of burger patty, cheese, griddled onions, pickles and special sauce. I love the PS Fries but definitely also want to try the Chili Cheese Fries next time. I'm really happy I got to try Proudly Serving again. I am especially glad I got to check out the special Jackie Buntan x Proudly Serving burger. So masarap! read more

One of my favorite smash burgers in the area! Hidden in the busy intersection of Redondo Beach off PCH and Ave I, parking can get tricky. I recommend street parking if you aren't able to find parking in the lot directly behind the building where Proudly Serving resides. I have tried the following burgers across my multiple visits: PS Burger (the ol' reliable) Pastrami Burger (heavy on the savory side, best with any of the beers they serve) Brunch Burger (only served on the weekends, my #1 burger on this list) Pair any of these burgers with the fries and special sauce, and you'll want to keep coming back. Prices are definitely on the higher side in all honesty, but I would consider this as a "special treat" kind of meal, and I never regret getting a meal here when I do. read more

Although the French Fries are of the "Previously Frozen" variety as opposed to "Fresh Cut" and potato connoisseurs can easily identify the traits of fresh vs frozen... The duck fat fries were described with temptation so we tried an order and enjoyed it. We first tried Proudly Serving's Hermosa Beach location and have been meaning to check out the RB location ever since it opened. We finally stopped by and had a nice Sunday lunch. We ordered The Founder, the PS Burger, and their fries and tots. Nothing left behind everything was so delicious! We even tried all of the sauces. I really like this location. I've had this burger joint saved in my collections for a long time, before this location had opened up. I blew the dust off this bookmark and decided it was time to come try it. Prices are definitely on the more boujee side for sure. $14 for a singular burger is kinda insane. Especially when having to pay $1 for a sauce and $5-8 for a side of tots or fries. Anyways... maybe im not built for the boujee burger life. I had ordered every sauce to see which one would be best for dipping or adding to my burger. Sadly, none of them hit. They all were missing that umf. I don't know how to exactly describe it, but when you go to other places like shake shack, raising canes, dave's hot chicken, chick fil a etc. their sauce has their own flow and mix to it. This place just.. one slapped me in the face with the Worcestershire sauce. waaaaaaay too in my face with it. This place has been on my list for quite some time, but I finally had the craving. I ordered their top two popular items, the PS Burger and Fries. If you can't enjoy a fry straight out of the bag on your drive home, it's not worth eating. That being said, these were flavorful and crunchy, not requiring sauce. There was a duck-like after taste I wasn't a fan of. The burger was extremely light and looked very flat, which was not appealing at first sight. It looked nothing like the photos I had seen. Came to RB location to try their Big Fish sandwich that's availed for limited time! Proudly Serving, I am your self proclaimed #1 fan. I can't say enough good things and recommend this spot to everyone I can. The parking isn't too bad around lunch and early dinner time. Our new favorite burger spot in the area. The restaurant is always consistently delicious. I always get the PS burger but you cant go wrong with anything on their menu. The smash burger is so good with their sauce and grilled onions. Make sure to get the malt vinegar aioli for your fries. Their milkshakes are unique because they are made with actual wafers blended in. I'll have to try some beer/wine next time we come. Service is always friendly and the food comes out quick. We love chilling here with the kids for lunch and playing some games on the pinball machines while we wait for our food. There is plenty of parking in the back and you can enter from the back. The game has been elevated now. Location: In Redondo Beach in the Riviera section right on PCH. Next door to Good Stuff Diner. Parking is in the back behind the building. Food: I got the Juicy James burger which was a good sized burger with cheese, tomato, lettuce, griddled onions, bacon and sauce on a sesame seeded bun. The quality is better than I expected and filling. Was it juicy? Ummmm, yes and no but I suspect most of the juice came from the sauce on it. Not a bad burger. I also got their duck fat fries. Crispy and thick cut, these were good and a generous amount is given. Summary: This place was born during COVID times out of a garage from a husband and wife team that now has 2 locations ( the El Segundo location has closed). They do serve wine and beer including their own wine. Price point is slightly on the higher side. They do have merchandise, tater tots and desserts. However, I do wish they had a combo meal available because my burger and fries meal cost me almost $20 without a drink. And making anything spicy is an extra $0.50. For that, I'll bring my own heat. Credit and cash is accepted. Oh, and they do have pinball games for entertainment besides people watching because this located within walking distance of Torrance Beach. Would I come back? On my quest to try the best smashburger in LA, it brought me to Proudly Serving. I opted for the PS burger, and my partner got the Hit the Spot Burger. Also got fries and tots on the side, and a vanilla-chocolate swirl milkshake, which surprisingly came with crushed wafers: it made for a creamy, refreshing, and textural treat! As for the smashburger, the PS burger was pretty good: a lot cheesier than other smashburgers I've had, but it was nice and creamy. However, my partner's Hit the Spot burger was strangely overly salty, which didn't taste so good. The fries were incredible, as I believe they're cooked in duck fat, which made for a savory and addictive taste. The tots were okay, but they got overly greasy and I think they were made from frozen (i.e. not freshly-made). Overall, a decent smashburger joint for the South Bay. Give it a go! read more

If you want a classic smash burger without the fixings, get the PS. In my opinion, The pastrami had more flavor and I loved that it had more fixings in it. If we were to come back, we both would get the pastrami burger again! We also got the fries with zesty ranch and malt vinegar aioli. I pass by this place all the time and I finally gave it a try! There is outside and indoor seating. Pretty cool they have arcade games by the standing tables! There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant. The restroom is also towards the back hall of the restaurant. You need to ask the code to use the restroom. tl;dr the well-executed sides and sauces are overshadowed by otherwise expensive and forgettable smashburgers Like so many popular fast-casual spots across Los Angeles, Proudly Serving LA began as a pandemic-era pop-up in owner Matthew McIvor's driveway. After a stint as a ghost kitchen on Redondo Beach's International Boardwalk, Proudly Serving opened two standalone brick-and-mortar locations in Hermosa and Redondo. Nowadays, Proudly Serving is one of the trendist burger joints in the South Bay. The Redondo Beach location is just blocks from Riviera Village. The vibes are playfully nostalgic. The logo is a zombified version of Bob's Big Boy. The whitewashed walls have pops of pumpkin-orange trim. In the far back, old-school pinball machines are lined up underneath a flatscreen. Non-mainstream hip-hop plays loudly within the restaurant, but there are plenty of more-relaxed bar-counter style seats and umbrella-ed tables just outside. My partner and I visited for weekend lunch, and we split the Pastrami Burger and the Chili Burger. Across both sandwiches, I found the patties to be overcooked and juice-less; it may sound paradoxical, but the smashburgers were regrettably dry. The former burger was dominated by thinly sliced, equally dry pastrami; my partner described it as "pastrami jerky". Meanwhile, the latter featured a dynamic chili that was a step up from Tommy's, but it was missing a tart ingredient (such as pickles) to cut through the savoriness. The remainder of the meal was, fortunately, more fulfilling. Beyond the traditional side of fries, Proudly Serving also offered tater tots. Fried in duck fat, the tots end up both rich and crispy. The PS Tots were upgraded with a whole burger patty, pickles, and Special Sauce; while the toppings didn't feel necessary, they also didn't overwhelm. Of the a la carte sauces, I was most impressed by the rich-overload Bacon Fat Ranch, followed closely by the mildly spicy Zesty Ranch; the slightly sweet Special Sauce was no slouch either. Only the overly vinegary Malty Vinegar Aioli was a whiff. At over $40, the bill was eyebrow-raising; at least the portions were reasonably filling. A few non-burger-related characteristics help Proudly Serving stand out amid the crowded Los Angeles burger game. First, the array of sauces enhanced sandwiches and sides alike. Additionally, the close proximity to a beer and bottle shop meant an endless array of cheap pairing options for the meal; we opted for a locally brewed porter tallboy. Nonetheless, the signature smashburgers remain expensive disappointments, and Proudly Serving is worth skipping for a burger enthusiast. read more

It's just a burger joint, right? Why does 5 stars even enter into the conversation. But sometimes something unexpected presents itself. Something that changes the context. I hadn't really embraced the whole "smash burger" craze but having mentioned this to a friend of mine (greatly experienced on this topic) I was informed that he could fix me right up. Enter Proudly Serving (PS). Honestly, it wasn't what I was really expecting at all. I figured we would be heading for some 50 year old greasy spoon establishment. But PS was exactly the polar opposite. It's actually a pretty slick, retro modern type of place. Super clean (even the pinball machines are clean), cleaner than in-n-out even. And that was ok, a definite positive and "unexpected" thing. But now, I have to order. The pastrami burger is very tempting. But then I ask the man behind the counter. I tell him that this is my first time at PS and ask his advice. Usually these exchanges are not overly cerebral but not this time. I was concerned that the PS Burger would not be satisfying enough. A dialog ensued, questions were asked, feelings were expressed, a decision was rendered. For the first visit, the PS Burger (the signature of the establishment) was highly recommended. To this was added the fries and a vanilla shake (was also offered the seasonal berry version, but politely declined). The result was quite excellent. The PS Burger just works. I had expected the patties to be somewhat more crusty but with the melted cheese and "griddled" onions, the way they do it is perfect. And I didn't need to worry about if it would be enough to eat. It was way enough. And the fries were way way enough, and so good, perfectly cooked in fact. The shake was perhaps the best one I've ever had at a fast food place. Really. It was a generous size, had a ton of whipped cream and came with a cookie! On the way out I mentioned how pleased I was with my meal and ended up having an "unexpected" conversation with all three team members. So I have only ordered takeout so can't really speak of ambiance but the food is definitely awesome. The most intriguing thing to me was that their fries and tots are fried in duck fat which is way healthier in my book than the oils that most restaurants use for deep frying. Also it's absolutely delicious. Their burger buns are fluffy and delicious and not dense in any way, their patties are smashed and cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly and what I really enjoyed about their chili is that it has zero beans.
