I was really excited to try their chili dogs. I mean this nicely, but it just wasn't that good for me. It looks great at first. Nice colors, solid ingredients. But once we ate it, it didn't quite come together. Please don't toast the bun for a chili dog. A softer bun would make a big difference. My boyfriend found this place and I did pickup. We're both chili dog fans and agreed the components were fine on their own. The dog itself was good quality, and the chili and onions were decent. It just lacked balance and that classic chili dog vibe. I'd say ease up on toasting the bun and don't be shy with seasoning to tie everything together. It has potential, just needs some adjustments. This burger spot was highly recommended to us by a friend so I decided to try it out. Right off the bat, I can appreciate that they have lots of different options with fresh ingredients. They have sandwiches, salads, and the most standout thing for me is the zucchini fries. I don't think there's anything ground breaking about their burgers, I got a jr. burger and zucchini fries. But it did feel more on the healthier fresh side with the bun and patty not being too oily. But if I want a burger I would rather have it taste better with more flavorful sauces and a juicy patty. This place used to have such a warm feeling to the interior and ambience of the restaurant. After many renovations and changes it's now extremely stale and somewhat cold feeling less of a community spot and more of a grab your food and eat in the car. The double charburger with friends In the booths or the tables outside were a staple. Sadly the same burgers and burritos etc. now are maybe still good but not as fantastic as they used to be. The neighborhood doesn't flood it like it once did. The service stays the same with the kitchen feeling busy and orderly. But, it lost its sparkle as a hang and grub spot. Today, my husband and I came to purchase lunch for our family when I witnessed this cook throw some fresh fries on top of the old fries that were in the pan to dish out to us for our meals. I shared this with the girl at the counter because the guy was pretending to not understand English when I told him about it. However, he understood that I notice his poor food service tactic. This is the 2nd time that I have witnessed this cook doing this. The first time was on a different day I saw this cook take the old fries from the pan that had been sitting for who knows how long, and he put the old fries into the oil to reheat to put in our order. When I brought this to the attention of the lady at the counter, the other cook who did speak English told him that you can't do that. From a Health & Safety perspective, food should be served at the correct temperature, and not reheated back into hot oil. This guy should be fired because he is making poor decisions when it comes to food quality. We've been dining at Rod's since the Original owner Dino & Andy owned this place in 2000's and this new owner needs to ensure their cooks don't continue to diminish the name "Rod's" with serving food that isn't fresh. I ordered an egg white omelette with easy cheese and it was delicious! The hash browns were solid too. We had a nice experience and the service provided was very good and genuinely friendly. Bottom line. Yes, the people have changed, the dining room has changed, the hash browns are different than what they were 10 years ago, BUT everything we ordered was delicious and the service was on-point. I was craving a turkey burger and not many places offer it these days. I decided to check this place out. The restaurant itself looked clean and the staff were super friendly. I ordered the turkey burger and my brother got the BBQ chicken sandwich. When I tell you that my brother enjoyed his sandwich that he inhaled it. We typically use to enjoy Rod's salads. Always enough to share between me and my husband however, we just placed an order to be delivered today and wow it it was so small and they forgot to add the dressing! Maybe enough for one person but for the price it's totally not worth it!! I'm so sad because they were our go to local place!! I thought it was really tasty. It wasn't too huge and the ratio of the potatoes, eggs, and the chorizo (what I ordered) was on point. There's a little bit of chili in there as well for some added flavor. I was already expecting a pretty darn good burrito, and this was better than expected to be honest. I was really happy with my order. The ambience itself feels like an old-school spot. One that you know probably gets frequented by a lot of local regulars. The service was great. Wow! What a sad change! The original owners and staff are all gone. They sold out. Different recipes and all. The pastrami sandwich is way smaller and looks pathetic. They changed the chili in the chili cheese fries. Now it tastes bland and awful. No more flavor. The new owner just wants to fatten there pockets. They let the old staff go to hire staff for cheaper.
