Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - had a disappointing Chili Cheese Fries the other day so the SO was looking for a redemption round. We enjoyed the food at Steve's previously so decided to come give it a try. The fries were loaded with chili and freshly grated cheese. Absolutely delicious and we were very satisfied! Also got a Mushroom Swiss Burger to try and it was a super hefty burger. It tasted like regular button mushroom and was quite mild but the patty was juicy, the bun had a nice sear, and the lettuce was fresh. Service: 5/5 - friendly and super quick service. Ambiance: 5/5 - cozy and clean. Value for price: 5/5 - large order of chili cheese fries for $10.75 seems reasonable for the amount of food we got. read more

For takeout, food gets cold real fast. Sunny side up or over easy are always cooked medium-hard no runny yokes. Pastrami is horrible, better alternatives elsewhere. Carbroiled burgers are good, but I need extra spread, somehow the last few bites never have enough. Fries and onion rings, seem expensive until you see the amount. A small is more than enough for two. Seems most morning employees have been working here a long time read more

My experience at the Steve's on Crenshaw was so good, the next day I went to this location. Ordered the pastrami cheeseburger. Bonus: pickled peppers. Quick and friendly service. Old-timers eating inside. Great prices and generous portions. Who needs flavorless, stingy and overpriced McD? For me, Steve's is far superior to In-N-Ou-, too. read more

Was looking around the whole city of Torrence for some chili cheese fries on this app and unfortunately none looked to Appelling. I found Steve's and the few reviews on them and I thought why not give them a try. I ordered their small chili cheese fries with pastrami also adding extra cheese and extra chili to ensure no dry fries and I can say I was not disappointed. They gave me a generous amount of pastrami as well and these definitely satisfy Ed my craving. Some good ol' classic chili cheese fries. The only thing is they were very pricy even for the small. Really good, cheap burgers and burritos. Staff is welcoming and food comes out HOT. If you're ordering take out, you can play on the Deadpool pinball machine just chilling on the left. I think it's pretty cool. I really enjoy how clean this place is too. Love coming here for lunch. read more

I had to pay twice because when i tapped my apple pay their wifi wasn't connected and it took it off my card but didn't show up on there end and i had to tap again and wait for the refund on my card. Double bacon cheeseburger was good. Fries were a bit thick but cooked okay (personal preference). It's good to be served a burger that's maybe more than twice the size of a In & Out burger. Steve's is a really clean and pleasant place to stop for a really excellent freshly cooked burger. You place your order from their inclusive menu, find a booth and they call you when your order is up. The staff are efficient and friendly. They also have a drive through window if you want food to go. If you're in the West High area, give it a try. read more

Had a first tonight. Walked into the restaurant and ordered my burger and fries combo. They called my number, I grabbed my bag, and headed out to the car for the 20 minute drive home. I get home, mouthwatering, and open up the burger to find that there is no meat, no cheese and no avocado! That is a first! Even McDonald's remembers to put meat in their burgers! I was in a hurry one day and wanted to grab something quick to eat. Opted against McDonalds and since I was passing right by this place decided to check it out with a neighbor of mine who I was chauffering around. Typical "Greek Type" fast food charbroiler place. It's actually one of a chain of 5 Steve's Charburgers. Fairly busy with a diverse crowd, from old ladies to people tattooed from head to toe. Really no decent deals here as far as price goes. The cheapest burger being $3.15 and from what I could tell everything went up from there. The menu was diverse with Mexican food, gyros etc besides your regular burger joint fare. My neighbor had the burger, which did not look appealing to me at all. Just a big bun, charbroiled meat patty, shredded iceburg lettuce and a slice of semi-ripe tomato. Maybe some 1000 island dressing as a sauce, but after asking her not even that. I had the pastrami sandwich meal and the only reason that this place is getting 3 stars rather than 2 is because the pastrami was fairly decent. The fries were not that good though. The place does have a drive through, but honestly in retrospect I wish I would have just gone to McDonalds and got a double cheeseburger and fries for a buck each. I've been coming here for decades and have always had what I came for, good tasting comfort food at a great price. But after today's visit, I might not be returning for a while. My family and I went for dinner there tonight. The young man taking our order was apparently not understanding our order requests well and did not deliver what we had ordered. In addition to that, in the two salads that we ordered, the cucumbers tasted medicinal and were drenched in dressing that we had ordered on the side. The burger that I had was as good as it has always been as were the chili cheese fries that my family shared. The place didn't seem as spotlessly clean as it usually is. There were dirty dishes and trays in the trash can area, and quite a few flies and gnats flying around the place. I felt uncomfortable during the dinner and was relieved to be out of there when finished. I'm disappointed in the poor salad preparation and service that we experienced there tonight and hope that they can turn it around. read more

If you're in the mood for greasy, grease, and some grease on the side, Steve's Char is the place for you! Seriously, the bag is always drenched before I get the food home. Not saying that makes the place any less delicious - because it does not. Their fried zucchini are to DIE for (with their ranch dressing, that I swear is made with crack of some sort). Their burgers are charred deliciousness, and for some reason even their soda tastes better than most. Tip: The drive thru is SUPER slow. If there's even one car in line ahead of you, I suggest you just hop out and go inside. Much faster. read more

The reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the chili cheese fries were delicious. I've been coming here for years, but tonight was a bad experience. We ordered salads (inside) and the guy got our order wrong - dressing on the SIDE please... nope. The salads were drenched in dressing, and the clincher, the cucumbers had a horrible medicinal taste that exploded in our mouths and made us want to vomit. Plus the chef salad was not as prolific as I remember from many times before. Anyone know what the deal is with the "Steve's" sign out front? Why is it gone? read more

Visited this place for the first time with a coworker, and honestly, the burger and fries lacked flavor - no spices or anything, seemed raw and uncooked. I'm giving it 2 stars only because of the friendly staff. There's potential for improvement if they update and keep up with other restaurants. Sadly, I won't be returning, and I apologize for this review. I hope management reads this and considers changing up the menu, adding some spices for better taste. Their menu has great options overall, and the lunch box is a solid value for the price. The homemade onion rings are especially good. The only issue I consistently have with this location is the fries. I've never received crispy fries here. There is now an option to request "crispy / well-done" fries when ordering online, but it doesn't apply to all menu items, and it still doesn't seem consistent. What I usually receive are soft, oily fries that end up tasting more like steamed potatoes, which I personally can't enjoy. I don't think most people would prefer fries served that way over crispy ones, so I really hope they can improve on this part of the menu.
