Noodle Pull - Vegetable Ramen with White Soy Broth 10-29-2025
    Alana M.

Hubby saw this new restaurant on Yelp and we came to dine here tonight. It's a little difficult to find since it is located in a corner of the Redondo Shores Shopping Center. If you are facing Whole Foods, head to the right of it. Parking is free and plentiful, but you may have to walk. The spaces are shared between all the businesses. There's a beautiful black and white mural. I was told that the Japanese portion represents the head chef's Japanese roots, the Hawaiian part is for their original location (Honolulu, HI), and the Hollywood, CA portion is for this location. I think it should have shown something unique to Redondo Beach, though. I looked up the meaning of the restaurant's name and basically it is translated to "Number 1 Sesame" or "First Sesame". The Tan Tan broth is Sesame based. We ordered: *Gyoza - scrumptious little dumplings packed with flavor *Small Salad - the dressing was very tasty *Tan Tan Ramen - hubby liked it, I just barely tasted it since I was eating my own bowl of ramen *Vegetarian Ramen with White Soy Broth - the flavor grew on me. It was a subtle creamy broth. I thoroughly enjoyed the veggies & tofu chunks. *Yuzu Cheesecake - very delectable! I think it was crustless. I really liked the thin layer of Yuzu. *Black Sesame Mochi - it was your typical grocery store ice cream mochi. Service was attentive & efficient. All the hot foods came out nice and hot while the cold foods came out at the proper temperatures. We both agreed we'd return. I'm sure we'll get the Gyoza & Salad again.

This restaurant was very clean and almost empty on a Thursday night, which we were happy about. I brought my husband here for his birthday since his favorite food is ramen. I read the description that it would be Hawaiian ramen, which sounds interesting! The unfortunate thing is that we have tried far too many ramen restaurants...and just a lot of restaurants in general. So we have high standards. For flavor, we give the ramen we tried a 4/10. It was very bland and not flavorful. We had to put some of everything they had on the table on the ramen to make it a 5/10. The appetizers (spicy cucumber and edamame) were very basic, and the spicy cucumber was very much soaked in vinegar. The service was very good though and the staff was welcoming and nice. The food was hot and fresh. Due to the lack of flavor though, we will never come back here again.

This some of the best ramen we have had in a very long time! The gyoza tasted handmade and it was probably my favorite thing on the menu. It is a must if you are coming here. Don't skip on it. My husband loved the California roll so much he had to get a second plate of it. Everything tasted handmade and the flavors were so good. We were completely stuffed. The place is super clean and modern and really transports you. I think what topped off our experience was the service. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind and attentive. This is now our new go to spot!

Excellent service! It was friendly and quick. Plenty of parking in the lot. The space is small, but they do have tables and a little bit of counter seating. The food was flavorful and rich. Great spot in Redondo!

I was excited to try this new ramen spot, especially given the high ratings. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and was underwhelmed. The broth was very bland, char siu pork had no seasoning and flavor to it. I also have never seen ramen with ginger on top before. Overall, I didn't think it really stood out at all. I really hate to give a mediocre rating because the service was great and the workers were very nice but unfortunately don't think I'll be coming back.

Hello and Happy Grand Opening Gomaichi Ramen! It is no secret that I love ramen and I was so excited to learn that there is a new ramen spot in Redondo Beach. Today was their official grand opening and there was lots of fun, prizes and good food! For today's Grand Opening; Gomaichi Ramen had a fun spin the wheel game that featured a lot of good prizes like free ramen, free appetizers and discounted meals. Service was spot on despite them being pretty busy during the grand opening. They were very efficient and we got seated quickly. My friend and I each got a ramen. I got the Tan Tan Ramen ($17.95) and my friend got the Tonkotsu Light ($17.95). One of the things that I liked right away is that you can choose the main meat or veggie for your ramen. They have options of Minced Pork, Char Siu Pork, Chicken, Wakame Seaweed or Vegetables. Since Tan Tan Ramen typically comes with Minced Pork; I decided to choose that. The Tan Tan Ramen was great! It comes with the Chef's signature sesame based broth. I really enjoyed the soup. It had the perfect nutty flavor with the just the right hint of spice. Though it wasn't needed because the ramen was already quite flavorful; I added a bit of chili oil just for little more fire. Last but not least I loved the minced pork and the flavored egg. That flavored egg is true chef's kiss! This whole ramen was so tasty and I was quite pleased with my ramen of choice. I also tried my friend's Tonkotsu Light and loved the creamy, light pork bone based broth. The Tonkotsu Light definitely is on my list to get for a future visit. I will definitely be back! This ramen enthusiast is so happy to have a new ramen spot in Redondo Beach! Congrats on the grand opening Gomaichi Ramen!

Came here twice during their soft opening to try the ramen--because once just wasn't enough. Nestled in the corner of the Redondo Shores shopping center, it's easy to miss with all the construction. They've got locations in Oahu and Japan, so you know they mean business. For a small space, they've made it work--clean, cozy, airy, and bright. We tried the char siu tan tan, sung hon men, and shoyu ramen, plus the karaage and spicy cucumbers. The karaage was crispy and delish! Appreciated the handmade noodles and the flavorful broth along with the char siu. Portion sizes? Just right--not too little, not a food coma, but juuust enough to leave you happy. Service was attentive and helpful! A solid ramen spot close by, especially perfect for those colder days when you need a hug in a bowl.

New restaurant in Redondo beach, went for their soft opening, kind of hard to find because it's still under construction, but when we found it, the place was super cute. We ordered the Tonkatsu ramen and the Sung Hon Men, along with char siu rice on the side and chicken. This place is still under soft opening but they still let us try them out, servers were friendly and gave us recommendations on what to try as they are still new. Definitely try this place out!

This place is actually so valid. This spot is 2 for 2 b2b. Shoyu ramen with chicken? Fire. Kaarage? Fire. I can imagine this place going crazy on a rainy day. The server was very caring and nice to me. I think it was the manager who asked how I was doing and checked up on me. That's some awesome service. So thx for taking care of me yall Needa try the other things off the menu. Fs it's gonna slap

I've been rocking with Gomaichi since back when it was in Honolulu -- a loyal patron from 2003 until they closed in 2018. When they shut their doors, I still had to get my TanTan fix at Menchanko-Tei, where the recipe lived on. I used to work at a sneaker shop just a few doors down, and Gomaichi was the go-to spot for me. I've been in the South Bay for 18 years, always hunting for solid ramen out here, so seeing Gomaichi pop back up on PCH had me trippin -- a true favorite from my past opening right in my area. Love the new shop and the island mash up mural. Their TanTan men is still my top pick, and I always combo it with the Banbanji chicken. Don't sleep, y'all -- the ramen here is great.Shout out and Aloha to Mrs. Reiko and Hiro Kimura, so stoked that your still out here serving great ramen-Woes aka Panda artist.

Gomachi Ramen has officially become my absolute favorite ramen spot within walking distance. Maybe it's because it's in Hawaii and I'm partial (lol kidding), but honestly--it's just that good. The service here is always warm and attentive. It never feels overwhelmingly busy, which means the staff actually take the time to remember regulars--like me. That personal touch goes a long way. My go-to is the Tantanmen ramen--rich, flavorful, and I always order it extra spicy. They also have this special sour ramen (forgive me, I always forget the exact name) that's a chef's specialty, and it hits the perfect balance of spicy and sour. It's seriously addictive. On the side, I have to get the spicy cucumber pickles--trust me, they're to die for. While they don't have a full bar, I'm not docking a star because their sake, beer, and wine list is solid and reasonably priced. Everything pairs perfectly with the food. 100% I'm a regular now, and I couldn't be happier about it. I stopped posting reviews on Yelp for a while (long story), but I wanted to start back up with this one because Gomachi deserves the love.

update Tried the tonkotsu light, rightfully named. Soup - 2.5 (it is very light, borderline bland) I think its due to garnish. Noodle - 5 , firm and tasty, non-traditional noodle for tonkotsu but i thought went well Charsiu or charshu チャシュー 1.5 to 2 * the soup is light, imho there needs to be something that has コク, since the chashuu was bland, it taste bland in general egg - 5 nicely done and perfect Probably wont order tonkotsu next time around. ‍ Yuzu cake - 3 (tasted more lemon then the yuzu fragrance), texture creamy but lemon was but too much Maybe it was our table only but many of the sauces were near empty. chicken appetizer was good, looks to be goma and probably peanut with sauce. I would personally cook the white seasame to slightly brown to get better fragrance (personal opinion) Also cucumber/chicken arrangement presentation was bit rough and disorganized. Maybe seperating it, and sauce in the side. Waiting time 5 min (2 other parties)

Sung Hon Ramen Chicken - Delicious!
    Jonathan R.

Had the Sung Hon spicy and sour ramen with chicken and it was really impressive. The balance of spicy and sour flavors was spot on - not too overwhelming but definitely packed with flavor. The chicken was well-prepared and tender, and the broth had great depth. I've tried several ramen spots in the area, and this definitely stands out as the best I've had. The quality is noticeably higher than other places around here. Everything from the noodle texture to the seasoning was well-executed. If you're looking for good ramen in the area, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. The Sung Hon spicy and sour with chicken is a solid choice that delivers on both flavor and quality. Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Service and Ambience were humble and excellent.

The manager lady is amazing, charismatic, and highly memorable. They're full service, they packed my leftovers. The Highlight (Pork Rice Bowl): Generous portion of rice and incredibly tender pork. Mixing in the egg and mayo made the dish, became the highlight of my meal. The Perks: Their menu is simple and straightforward, and adding extra toppings to your ramen is actually relatively inexpensive. The Disappointment (Shacho Ramen): This was my first meal here without fried chicken, and the Shacho Ramen unfortunately fell flat. It completely lacked the complexity and depth I was looking for. The Broth: Had the rich, heavy sesame creaminess I demanded, but it was incredibly one-note outside of that. The Spice: Level 2 had no heat at all. I asked for a side of extra spice, which helped a bit, but didn't save the dish. The Noodles: Very bland.Ended up packing most of it away Verdict: Come for the great service, cheap add-ons, and excellent rice bowls, but pass on the Shacho Ramen.

Everything from the flavor to the experience just feels a step above. The (always-vegan) broth is rich and well-balanced, and you can really tell the focus is on quality. One thing I really appreciate is how accommodating they are with customizations. I usually ask for my ramen without nori (seaweed) and skip the egg, and they get it right every time. From their Spicy Garnet, Quartz, gyoza, sushi, different buns, etc. But the Amber Ramen is spectacular! Rich broth with a deep umami from the shoyu and bonito flake mix. The chashu cuts are seared beautifully. On the topic of pork, the pork belly buns make for a great bite too. I love the sauces they included. My only slight notes are that the ramen is occasionally greasy and the chashu featured is on the thinner side. I'd expect more given the price tag for single bowl. This place is located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. I ordered the extra chashu yatai ramen, which is a shoyu base ramen usually with chicken or fish broth. The chicken flavor was very prominent and the tare was very aromatic. The pieces of chashu was thinly sliced, and I wish there was more slices since it was extra chashu. The wavy thin noodles paired really well with the broth and it reminded me of the bowl I had in Japan. I was extra hungry so I also ordered a fried chicken combo with fried rice and salad. Chicken karaage was seasoned and fried perfectly. The sauce on the salad paired really well with the cabbage. Fried rice was a little soggy but wasn't expecting much. Service was pretty quick and efficient. The staff were all Japanese which added additional authenticity to this ramen shop. Everyone was very friendly. The place seemed like its been around for a while but it was very clean and felt homey.
