Got the pork fillet and Millefeuille. The katsu were fried well. The salad dressing was a bit salty. Liked the food. A bit far from me compared to other katsu places and less variety of items. Overall 3.5.

Special pork garlic millefeuille katsu set

Kimikatsu, is a restaurant located inside Tokyo Central in Torrance. The parking is plentiful in the Tokyo Central lot, which makes the whole experience stress-free. The ambiance is simple and clean and good for a quick meal with family. We've been here twice, and overall had a good experience, with a few things that could be improved. First visit: We ordered the Special Pork Cheese Millefeuille Katsu Set ($19.50), Special Pork Garlic Millefeuille Katsu Set ($19.50), Kid's Plate ($8.75), and Chawanmushi ($3.25). The portions were a great size for the price, and we appreciated the free refills of rice and cabbage. The only hiccup was with timing - my husband and I received our meals, but our daughter's kid's plate didn't come out with ours. After waiting a bit, we asked a server, and she quickly apologized and brought it out, mentioning it should have come first. We also asked for a booster seat, but they didn't have one - however, they kindly offered a pillow for our daughter, which we appreciated. When we ate our food, the dishes ended up being lukewarm, not sure if it was because we had to wait for the kid's plate...but we didn't think much of it since the food was still good. Second visit: I ordered the Ume Oroshi Set, and once again, the millefeuille katsu wasn't very hot. The flavors were still good, but it felt like it would've been much better if served hot. Maybe this one was not hot because of the Ume oroshi? I preferred the Pork garlic over the Ume oroshi. Overall, the food is tasty and a good value, especially with the generous portions and refills. The concept of the layered millefeuille katsu is unique and enjoyable. The service was friendly and accommodating, especially when issues came up. That said, I do wish the food - especially the katsu and soup - came out hotter, as it would really make the food taste better. Still, we'd come back again for the value and flavors.

Delicious! Flaky juicy chicken and melting cheese tonkatsu was beautiful. The severs are on top of things for the most part. The menu is straight forward with different tonkatsu options. It has a warm interior with an inviting design.

Miso soup. Savory with pork slices and vegetables.

Very well known tonkatsu chain restaurant from Ebisu. They are known for their millefeuille style (layered thin slices of meat) and so had to try it. The restaurant is very bright and spacious and the service is excellent. True the pork is very tender but I prefer thicker cuts of pork (just my personal preference). I had the katsu set which was nice but the portion was slightly small. It's also cut into nugget sizes which reminded me of chick fil-A pieces. Again, just personal preference. I like to savor each part of the meal set and I thought the miso soup was excellent--very umami, with slices of pork and carrots. I also ordered chawan mushi to sample and it was very authentic and tasty. Tsukemono (pickles) were elegantly presented and crisp. Not the best tonkatsu I've ever had but all in all, a nice restaurant to have conveniently located within Tokyo central market.

Kimukatsu is located within Tokyo Central. It replaced Van Show Sushi & Bar. Hubby & I came here on a Saturday evening. There was about a 40 minute wait time. It was pretty accurate and we were happy to be seated a little ahead of that approximate time. I joined the waitlist using my phone and the Yelp App while outside the restaurant. If you opt to use the Yelp App, you also need to use the kiosk (iPad) to check in so they know you've arrived. Service was good at first, but then as it got busier, the service slipped a little. We ordered a hot tea that never came and we didn't bother to ask for it. I opted for the Special Pork Cheese ($19.50) which includes Salad, Pork Miso Soup, Rice, Pickles, & Chawanmushi. I really liked the pork katsu. However, I think I would get it without cheese next time. When you order any of the sets, you can request as much rice & cabbage as you need. The Chawanmushi is included in the sets for the Grand Opening special, but I hope they keep it on the menu that way permanently. It rounds out the meal nicely! This millefeuille katsu is a new to me type of katsu where they thinly slice the pork and layer it together to form a cutlet. It really was easier to eat! I also liked that they cut the cutlet into more manageable segments. Hubby got the Katsu Curry ($18.75). The curry came out tepid. Not sure why? It was sort of bland as well. So, it was just okay. It was different from the place we go to for Japanese curry. I liked my meal more than my husband liked his, but we'll surely be back again!

Do not come here if you need a quick lunch. Assuming it would be somewhat faster than other places because it is in a grocery store, but nope. We waited over 30 minutes for our food which is pretty ridiculous. I understand its a new spot, but I've seen much smaller operations with less employees push out katsu faster than that. The prices are high $19-20 for a plate, but the katsu was delicious- perfectly crispy and thick pieces. Service was really friendly but poor, never refilled my water the entire time. Id recommend they let people know of the wait time for food up front because they are well aware it takes way too long. Also, let customers know you dont accept cash prior to the meal or make signs that are very obvious. I would wait to come here until they iron out the kinks.

Kimukatsu has arrived in Torrance! This Japanese restaurant chain that originated in Tokyo just opened up at the Tokyo Central on PCH. It takes the spot were Vanshow Suhsi & Bar once was. Kimukatsu's speciality is their multi layered pork cutlet. Instead of a single thick piece of pork, they use multiple thin layers of pork together stacked on top of one another, breaded and fried. Their menu features five special millefeuille katsu. They also have a katsu curry, a chicken katsu and a seafood katsu. All of the sets include salad, Tonjiru (pork miso soup), oshinko (pickles) and unlimited rice and cabbage. The price range for sets is $18.75 to $21.50. For today's grand opening, they also included free chawan mushi (steamed egg) with each gozen order. I got the Special Pork Cheese Millefeuille Katsu set. I was an instant fan of the crispy, juicy and tender pork. The cheese added a smooth, savory richness that matched perfectly with the crisp of the katsu. I also liked the Tonjiru. They were quite generous with the pork slices and vegetables. This soup was comforting and flavorful. Overall, I enjoyed the set meal. I could really taste the quality in their katsu and was impressed with how delicious everything was. Loved how every bite here had the perfect balance of texture and flavor. I will be back! One thing to note is Kimukatsu is credit card only.

We enjoyed our lunch. I loved the food display out front of the restaurant. Reminded me of Japan. We loved our katsu. My husband loved his nanban sauce and I loved the shiso ume on top of daikon oroshi. Of course, it was over the katsu. I added chawanmush (savory egg custard). The atmosphere was perfect and the servers were efficient, friendly, and helpful. We will be returning. Another one added to my list.

We ordered the millikatsu and was delicious. The overall size of katsu is a little smaller, compared to some of the other milli katsu I've had, but it's still filling. Dressing for the cabbage is good. We got the egg custard (chawanmushi) and that was not as shod as I'd wanted it to be. Service was a bit slow and sometime it was hard to flag staff down. It would be nice if they just had the staff call buttons or something. Overall, I'd defiantly go back again for more and try some of their other dishes.

Yummy! Staff is friendly and the ambiance is nice and spacious. They have a dedicated kids plate. No alcohol yet. All of the mille-feuille pork katsus were great. I got the cheese one - it tasted good but i expected a more ooey gooey white cheese, not cheddar... cheddar wasnt melted all the way (or re hardened?). I think ill get the regular one next time. Free refills on rice and cabbage, miso soup is good, chawanmushi was delightful, curry is as good with a kick (not super mild, my 5yo and 7yo found that it creeps up on you, i thought it was good). Picky spouses said it was good and we should come again. Woohoo!

I loveee the ebisu location in Tokyo so I was excited to see they were opening in Torrance! Service Food A lot of people complain about the wait but honestly it took as long in Tokyo! Our food took 25 mins ish to come out.

Food was amazing! We love the steamed egg, soup and salad and of course the katsu! We tried the pork, pork with cheese and chicken katsu. They were all equally delicious! Highly recommend and will be back to satisfy our japan food craving.

I visited KimuKatsu on a Friday night around 7pm. It was very busy, and the waiting list said it would be about 30 minutes to be seated. Since there were many people waiting, we decided to order to-go and eat at the food court instead. We waited about 30 minutes for the food to be ready, but unfortunately the katsu and rice were not warm enough -- they were closer to room temperature. I ordered the plum oroshi (daikon radish), but most of it stuck to the to-go lid, and there wasn't enough katsu sauce. The food has potential, but I hope they can improve the temperature control and to-go packaging experience.

I've only had the pleasure of having the following items below, but I'll be back in the coming years to try more. - Calamari [7.7/10]: regardless of what size you order, the portion is generous. This place doesn't overdue it with the batter and lets the flavor the fresh squid shine - which I adore. Only giving this dish its rating because there are a few Italian spots in Torrance that have my heart when it comes to the best calamari. - Fish Tacos [8.5/10]: Every bite gives a nice crunch of both batter and fish. I've had unpleasant experiences where I've had pockets of crispy batter, here the fish tacos are so great it actually doesn't need much support from lemon and/or tartar sauce. Be sure to order a couple of these bad boys during happy hour for $5 each. - Clam Chowder [8.3/10]: This place hits the mark on the texture of a classic chowder. Admittedly my cup could have used a touch of salt. I would have liked a bigger portion for what I paid for, but if you're in the mood for something hot to compliment your fried seafood - this is worth getting. This is also featured on the happy hour menu for $5 - Garlic Fries [10/10]: My favorite bite from this place so far. Not on the happy hour menu, but 100% worth getting and eating with your fish, shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. Perfect amount of seasoning and that white wet sauce on top is so so so addicting. The unsung hero of my most recent visit was Jose over at Station 20. In addition to taking my order, he single handedly called out orders for everyone by the dining the area during the end of happy hour rush. A whole wave of customers came in less than 10 mins I placed my order so I can only imagine how overwhelming things were on the service side of things. For my most recent visit, most of my order came in and my garlic fries came in last. I could tell there was a mix up in the kitchen, but Jose apologized and said a new order would be ready for me in less than 5. Definitely worth the delay/wait imo. Food is great. Seating is limited. Customer service is superb. But once you fish your food, you gotta take a long walk along the pier. It's a wonderful way to rejuvenate and make sure the quality seafood digests well. Can't wait to explore more of the menu, including the happy hour drinks.

I've been coming to Quality Seafood for the past couple of years, usually on Fridays for fish…read moretacos, and I've ordered the same fish taco and shrimp taco combination 40 to 50 times. It has generally been a place I've enjoyed and recommended, which is why this stood out. There's always been some normal inconsistency in portion. Some days the fish is bigger, some days smaller. Same with the shrimp, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. That never bothered me. It's part of a busy seafood counter, and I've never felt the need to say anything. What I got today was different. The fish taco was on the small side and dry, but the shrimp taco was the issue. It was served fried, very dark, and overcooked to the point the shrimp was tough. When I opened it after a few bites, I realized I was mostly eating tortilla and toppings. There were only about three shrimp total, which is noticeably less than what I've consistently received here before. In prior visits, I've also been asked whether I want my tacos grilled or fried, including the shrimp, and I've consistently chosen the lighter, non-fried option. What I received today was not that. I approached the counter politely and simply said the taco wasn't good, pointing out the quality and portion issue. I wasn't trying to make a scene and I'm not someone who returns food, especially over something this small. I was more pointing it out so it didn't keep happening. I was told nothing could be refunded because I had taken a few bites, so I asked to speak with a manager. That's where this went sideways. Instead of listening, the manager immediately dismissed it. She repeatedly told me that what I described was "not possible," insisted they have never prepared shrimp any differently in her 27 years there, and said they only ever serve three shrimp. As someone who has ordered this exact item many times, I was essentially being told that my own experience did not happen. The conversation ended with me being asked to leave. I've worked in and managed restaurants. Mistakes and inconsistencies happen. This was a simple situation that could have been handled in seconds, either by replacing the taco or offering a refund. Instead, it was denied outright and escalated. This wasn't about a $5 taco. It was about how it was handled. Being told that your repeated experience is "not possible" and then being asked to leave is not an acceptable way to handle a reasonable concern.

Cocktails were great as was the smash burger. Will definitely go back if in the area. Cool spot!

It's one of those "low-key hidden but worth finding" spots. Don't let the location fool you! I went on a Tuesday during the week when it wasn't busy at all -- nice and chill vibes. But babyyy once 6 PM hit? Dinner time activated. The crowd definitely started rolling in and you could feel the energy shift. So just know traffic picks up later in the evening if you're planning a visit. Now let's get into what matters: The staff? Super attentive and kind. I love when servers check on you just enough without hovering. And the food came out HOT. Not warm. Not "it's been sitting." I'm talking steaming, fresh, straight-to-the-table heat -- which is exactly how a crab boil should hit. Portions were generous because I was overly stuffed and still had plenty left over for the next day (which honestly might be the best part). Nothing like reheating a seafood boil and running it back. Thank you for hosting me and my guest -- we had such a good experience. I'll definitely be back for my next crab boil fix lol

We waited for 30 minutes to be seated even though plenty of tables were open, waited another 30 minutes to place an order, waited another 40 minutes until the food came out. At least the decor was "cute" pretty standard for a seafood boil and had TVs. We got 3 pounds of shrimp with the flavor mix and the spiciest level of heat in addition to some Cajun fries. The seafood was so bland and the fries were so dry with little to no seasoning.
