The food was amazing and the nice lady that took care of me was especially amazing! Ms Tomoko (I hope I spelled it right) was very kind and helpful with directing me as it was my first time. After today I have to say it definitely won't be my last! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe of the restaurant was very cozy and offered comfort and calmness as well![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Their uni is TOP TIER !!! Creamy, fat, clean, best of the best to be honest. We would drive 2 hours to get their uni. Highly recommend !!!

First time dining at KI and I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. I ordered the Fried Oysters as an appetizer and the Nigiri Sushi & Tempura Gozen for the main course. The oysters had a crispy panko breading and was accompanied by Tonkatsu sauce, Tartar sauce and a dab of hot mustard. The Nigiri was very fresh and I really liked their sushi rice. The Tempura was nicely battered and seasoned well. I also had the pleasure of meeting the hospitable and gracious owner, Tomoko ( I accidentally called her Tomo for short). I believe she said they are celebrating their 10th anniversary next year. Another plus are the tasty side dishes that come with the main meal. I will definitely be back to dine at KI.

Delicious and fairly priced with great service! We were immediately greeted with a friendly attitude and Yoko was very kind and accommodating. Will definitely be coming back.

This is a restaurant that has my fav lunch combo. And also not only is the food of high quality, the service from the owner Tomoko and the waitresses is also very nice too. If you want to eat really good Japanese food, this is the place to go!!

A favorite lunch place for me and my dad. Friendly service and always a great quality of food and at very reasonable prices. We had the scallop crudo special and two of the lunch specials. Forgot to take pics of the free salads. Very highly recommend you check it out if you haven't been here before or in a while.

The owner was sooo sweet and the customer service was amazing. However, the food just wasn't up to par. We got the Uni omakase for $80 and it came with a hand roll but the seaweed was soggy even though i ate it right when it came out. I don't like soggy hand rolls so it wasn't very good. Then when we got our omakase set of nigiri we couldn't finish it because every piece had an excess amount of wasabi in each piece that it wasn't pleasant to eat. The wasabi was so over powering that's all we could taste because it was A LOT of wasabi hiding under the fish. This is not our first time having omakase or nigiri with wasabi in it but my friends also tried to help me eat mine and also agreed it was way too much wasabi that we all started coughing and wheezing unfortunately. The miso soup was also very salty and normally you can't mess up miso soup. We came in at 6:30pm on a Thursday night it wasn't busy at all so service was fast and I can't say enough good things about the owner. She was the sweetest ever but I don't think I will be back for the food.

An amazing value for lunch! Generous servings of fish, very friendly service, and a large menu that offers a variety of options for a large party made up of many different taste preferences. Tempura is very good as well, crisp and without a greasy mouth feel.

What's posted on IG, grade 5 quality uni
Anh L.

Its okay, but its a bait and switch. See pictures Basically they posted Grade 5 uni on instagram and then decided to serve you Grade 2-3. The difference is not only visibly but taste as well. The uni was bitter. The rice was amazing, ikura was amazing. But Uni should be slightly sweet; not this reject of a mush. What happen to the uni, did they blend it? I will not be coming back but will go next door to Miyabi Uni. Please don't switch out the uni like this.

Uni Ikura Don (sea urchin & salmon roe bowl) - amazing!!!

Fresh Uni! Great deal (portion and price)! Their service is excellent too! The owner/chef is very friendly - always great to talk to her.

We arrived right at opening (5:15 PM) without a reservation. We were told we could sit if we left before 6:30 PM because of a later booking. Since we were just having a quick dinner (4 adults and 1 child), we agreed. However, the terrible hospitality started immediately when she forced our group of 5 into a tight 4-person booth, making us extremely uncomfortable. Throughout the meal, IYA made us feel incredibly unwelcome, constantly rushing us and giving us dirty looks. Even though we were well aware of the time, she aggressively pushed the dessert menu and called for "last call" at 6:00 PM just to kick us out faster. When we politely asked for extra broth, she snapped that there would be an extra charge with a terrible attitude, then literally slammed the dish down on our table. The absolute worst part was her handling of my Service Dog. As someone who legally requires a service animal, I had my dog right next to me. Without even asking if it was a registered service animal, IYA rudely and aggressively demanded that I put the dog on the floor. Her complete lack of education, empathy, and legal understanding regarding service animals is deeply concerning and discriminatory. If you work in hospitality, basic manners and knowledge of service animal regulations are mandatory. IYA was incredibly rude, ignorant, and unprofessional. We will NEVER step foot in this place again. Management needs to seriously retrain or re-evaluate this server.

This spot is the kind of Japanese izakaya that makes you rethink your life choices, specifically, why you didn't come here sooner. Man oh man....Yakitori chicken, so tender, juicy, and grilled so perfectly it deserves its own picture and profile. We went with the Grilled chicken & Beef skewers, aside of the yellowtail and salmon, the "I'm trying to be healthy" option that still tastes like you're cheating on your diet. Oh wait, the pork belly skewers, juicy, crispy little flavor bombs that whisper "don't worry, we'll do the cardio later."Dangerous in the best way. Oh and the tea....Honestly, it's so good it feels like it's judging every other tea you've ever had. The staff is ridiculously friendly, like "I'd trust them with my house keys" friendly. Service is quick, warm, and makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Prices are low enough to make you double‑check the bill, and the atmosphere is cozy, cute, and perfect for date night, solo dining, or pretending you're in a Tokyo alleyway. Enjoying delicious food. Here is my recap: Because balance matters: * Grilled chicken skewers = protein goals * Tea = antioxidant flex * Yakitori = technically grilled, so your gym membership approves * Pork belly skewers... okay, not healthy, but spiritually important Hasu is the kind of place where you come for "a light dinner" and leave full, happy, and questioning why pork belly is not considered a health food. Charming atmosphere, great service, and flavors that is absolutely worth a visit. I will definitely be coming back for a second visit! Miguel C.

We walked in right on time for our reservation (because we're adults who respect the space-time continuum) and were ushered into a booth with "privatey" curtains. I'm not saying they'd hide you from the FBI, but they certainly provided enough cover for us to giggle and navigate stupidly through the menu. You can also order directly to a friendly human too. The atmosphere is colorful, lively, unstuffy, and private enough to enjoy good convo but not awko quiet. You order everything via an iPad, which is dangerous because when pictures of gyoza are staring you in the face, your impulse control vanishes. We ordered "a little bit of everything," which is code for "the table was structurally compromised by the weight of our dinner." * The Highlights: The pickled cucumbers (crisp enough to hear in the next county), the pork bowl, and sushi that actually tasted like it came from the ocean. The Fluids: Cold Asahi and Lemon Chu-His. Highly recommended if you enjoy being happy. The Verdict This spot is a unicorn--it works for kids, first dates, or "290th dates" where you both just want to stare at an iPad and eat kimchi in a tent. Chef that prepares food made our visit a horrible experience…read more I was dining with a guest. Ordered two chicken skewers, two veggie skewers, rice and miso soup. The Miso soup came out first. Five minutes later a bowl of rice came out. 3rd comes out one of the chicken skewers. I patiently waited for the remained of the food to come out so we can eat together. I look up and notice that the chef cooking the food was doing nothing and kept looking at me...as if I did something bad to him. I continued to wait. I kept noticing that the chef was doing nothing and kept giving me an evil look. I did not feed into the chef's evil antics. I notified the server (a young gentleman) that seated us, and mentioned that we were waiting on remaining food so we can eat together. Still no remaining food was delivered. I asked the (young lady server) and mentioned to her that we are still waiting. I did mention that I observed the restaurant was pretty empty and asked why my small table order would not come out together and mentioned that I felt the chef took it upon himself to have myself and my guest wait. By this time the double order of veggie skewers comes out (still waiting on my guest chicken skewer). Again the chef is giving me a mean mugging look again, like he decides when he is ready to give us our food. Finally, the 2nd chicken skewer (which is the last item) finally arrives. By this time, my first item (the 1st chicken skewer) is now cold. I ended up letting my server know that my 1st skewer was cold and to just send it back, by this time my appetite was ruined and the chicken was cold. After the server got a manager override, to take the first (cold) skewer off, it was taken off the bill. I ended up not eating and watched my guest eat their meal and we left. The servers were very apologetic. I let the servers know that it was not their fault, I advised that in the future it would be a good idea, to bring the proteins and veggies out together. Also I let the servers know that there was no excuse for the chef's behavior, since the restaurant was very slow. Nevertheless, I did leave a proper tip, because the servers should not have to suffer due to the chef behind kitchen was not properly doing his job and attending to the guest orders. I would recommend this place if the chef can pay attention and deliver orders in a complete manner and not piece out one item at a time...especially in this realistic situation aforementioned.

Looking back, I probably should have read the reviews first. We didn't realize the bento boxes are only available during lunchtime, and we were also surprised to find out they don't have yakitori. Those were two things we were hoping to try. We came with a party and ordered several items, including the Akatsuki Special Hot Pot, which was recommended to us, along with other dishes. The tempura and karaage were definitely the highlights -- both were really good. The rest of the food was okay for our group, but unfortunately it didn't really satisfy our craving or stand out the way we were hoping. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly. I would recommend checking their current menu before going so you know what to expect. Maybe we'll come back another time to try their lunch menu and explore more of what they offer.

For the price, I expected the quality and presentation to feel more special, but it was very basic. I also paid an additional $3.50 for sashimi, which did not taste or look premium enough to justify the upcharge. What bothered me most was being told there would be an additional 50-cent charge for ponzu sauce. I agreed, but what I received was barely enough to cover the bottom of my small dipping dish -- about half of a tiny thumb-sized portion. The quality was very good, it was cooked perfectly, and it was served with tasty shredded cabbage, a little mustard, and katsu sauce. I would definitely recommend the katsu. Side of rice was perfectly made and the miso soup was good. I also ordered green tea, which was just a basic teabag served in hot water -- nothing particularly special there. The dining area is small but perfectly fine, and the service was okay overall. I also ordered the fried gyoza, but when it arrived I immediately noticed what looked like freezer burn. I'm very familiar with how freezer-burned food looks, and these did not appear freshly made. For the price, I didn't think they were acceptable. I've had plenty of gyoza in Japan and at many Japanese restaurants in the U.S., and these just looked off, so I didn't even bother tasting them and sent them back. They did not seem very happy about it, but the appearance alone was enough for me. I got the California roll to go. It was okay nothing special. Not much flavor. Just a tiny bit of very ripe avocado and a teeny tiny piece of cucumber in each piece. Never seen so little before.
