Harami Beef Skewers - probs one of my fave bites. A tad bit pricy for the serving
    Jeanette C.

Writing another updated review since my very first experience nearly 5 months back. I came last week and had a much smoother, more pleasant experience that time around. Got a beer, the cabbage and onion side w/ponzu sauce, 1 order of the Unagi skewers, 2 orders of the Tsukune skewers, and closed out with the Torikawa Chips (crispy chicken skin). I've noticed the Tsukune shape has changed since the grand opening. I applaud the adjustment as the meatball still holds up well, remains moist & succulent, and these came out quicker compared to my previous visits. Service was reasonably paced. None of my items were missing so I didn't have to awkwardly ask for anything to be removed from my bill. The only time I had to call the staff over was to place my orders and ask for the check. I believe the last time I came 1.5 months ago, the kitchen apologized profusely for missing one of my skewer orders and I was comped with a complimentary beverage. By no means necessary - orders flow in during rush hour, mistakes/things happen in food service. But I did deeply appreciate the gesture. Will try to come around for lunch or happy hour soon. I look forward to watching this place to blossom in the Torrance Japanese Cuisine community overtime!

Harami Skewers from the limited time summer 2026 menu

Came in on a Tuesday with a reservation for a big party of 11, and while the food and service were great, I'm upset that we were charged a $50 cake cutting fee for a cake we brought ourselves. We were there for 2 hours and none of the employees mentioned anything until the check was brought out. No one wanted to pay extra for something we didn't order and were not aware of, so the person who used their card to pay for the whole party ended up taking the entire fee - which put a very uncomfortable ending on what would have been a very nice night. While I'm aware a big party is difficult to manage and we tipped extra on top of the included 18% large party charge, we certainly would have made different choices knowing that information. I hope moving forward your staff would provide more transparency of the expected final bill.

Service is fantastic at this hole in the wall. There's a center kitchen surrounded by the bar and it's fun watching them cook your orders. The prices are very reasonable and if you're passing by Torrance, this is a great place to walk in on the weekdays. Place was pretty full house even on a Thursday night. I was super hungry and was relieved to find that there was only a 10 minute latency period between placing the order and getting my first item at the table. I'm a big fan of chicharrón and the fried chicken skin was very well done, but I'm personally more of a chicharrón person than a fried chicken skin person. The chicken okra, edamame salad was cool and refreshing. The chicken skewers were dry, but the agedashi broth was so good I just dunked them in it. The skirt steak skewers were the highlight of the night, along with the hojicha pudding which I vacuumed down without a pause. Shoutout to the wonderful staff who made the night and the awesome server who gave fantastic rec!

Japan's most popular chain came to Torrance! Stuff on sticks with some sides is all you see on this menu, though they have a few daily specials as well. Tako Karaage was special indeed. Skewers are great, chicken heart and quail eggs rank among my faces. They have all the classics, including beef, thicken thigh, meatball, etc. Don't skip dessert - the Melon Soda Float is magnificent, and the Hochija Pudding could win awards. Good food, good fun. Nice for a little lunch or a later night nosh.

Finally got to try this place and I honestly thought it was okay. About $8 per two skewers but the chicken was mostly chewy and dry for my part. Considering it was a place for "tori" I wasn't impressed. Also ordered a beef skewer but it never came out so I couldn't try it. We got lots of appetizers like chicken skin which the flavor was underwhelming. So we asked for sauce but had to purchase it for $4, which was a bit odd for me to purchase. Sadly I am not sure if I would come back. Maybe if it's a group that really wanted to try it. Parking is a bit busy and limited. So just make sure to come early.

Oh this place is soooooo good! First of all, make sure you get there before it's busy! I was here with a party of three on a Saturday and there were already people waiting outside for it to open. So we definitely were drawn to this place because it's also prominent in Japan and my wife loves the melon soda which was served in a GIANT mug, it was so awesome haha! The skewers we got too were amazing, I can't remember the names of them but had the chicken ones and also tried a couple other things. It was very delicious and the quality was great. A little on the pricey side but you're paying for the quality for sure. Our server was very nice and helpful. Definitely will be returning !

We won't be returning. The food was disappointing and service was mediocre. I made reservations via OpenTable for two and made another one for a different day (in case it passes the taste test) to take my dad to for Father's Day. Yakitori was for the most part $8 for a set of two. The quality was not worth the $4 per skewer. For skewers, we had gotten liver, heart, wing, chicken meatball, thigh with onion, chicken breast with plum. Also got the cucumber salad, fried chicken skin, and spicy karaage. The biggest complaint was that most of the skewers that didn't come with sauce were under salted and I would say it's pretty dry as well. The cucumber salad was bad because it was bitter in every piece I ate so I ended up not finishing it. The spicy karaage was an absolute no. I took one bite and didn't finish it. My boyfriend ate a small piece and the rest of the dish went untouched. When it came to ordering the finishing dish, I had called for service. The gentleman said brb he's going to grab his tablet... Only for him to come back to grab the table next to mine's order and left lol. I had to call for service again with someone else and ordered a grilled rice ball and the ramen. Grilled rice ball was a disappointment (not even surprised anymore). It was completely soft (probably too much sauce) so it wasn't crispy on the outside at all. The boyfriend enjoyed the ramen and I did try the broth and it was actually pretty good. Um, I guess the best part was the yuzu sour drink I had ordered and the broth from the ramen. I also ended up canceling my second dinner reservation for next time when the skewers came out. Never again.

Where to begin? I honestly hadn't heard of this chain before walking in. I was actually just hunting for ramen after making a return at Walmart and thought I spotted a spot pulling into the lot. I came by myself and ordered five items plus a Yuzu Sapporo. You have to get the Yuzu Sapporo. I loved it, especially paired with the chicken skin. Perfect match. The service was great; the waiter came by and gave me a full run-through of how the menu works. Here's the breakdown: Ramen: Must-get. Grilled Ground Chicken Rice Bowl: Must-get. Fried Seared Chicken Skin Chips: Do get! Kizoku Yaki (Thigh w/ Teriyaki): Do get! Shiitake Skewer: Skip. It was small and kind of dry. I walked out super satisfied. I feel for the people who were disappointed because they've been to other locations after the fact, but I noticed the menu is already changing (saw a couple of updated editions), so hopefully they keep growing. I'd attribute my good experience to the responsive waiter, getting seated immediately at the bar, and the fact that I crushed it with my order. I'm already thinking about coming back because we really need more yakitori spots for those "in-between" stages, like a late lunch or a late- day cravings when you just want variety and small bites. That's exactly what a yakitori spot should be! It's smoky. Be prepared!

Came here for dinner last night with my husband. Very clean and service was amazing. This is why I give them a 5 stars. Food is a 4 stars, but because of the excellent staff service, 5 stars. We ordered: Mune kizokuyaki - chicken breast all spice (tare may be a better choice, but my husband wanted to try mixed spices since it was different) Unagi (eel) Teba (chicken wings) Very flavorful Ebi (shrimp) the head and shell were left on, so won't order it again as it's too much work to remove the shell and fingers get dirty) Tsukune (chicken meatballs) Beef harami steak with mashed potatoes & cabbage- only $2 more to add side mashed & cabbage Tori Q (marinated cucumbers) Agedashi Tofu Houjicha pudding for dessert (loved it) Drinks : houijicha tea and Sapporo beer Overall, for the price and the size, it's well worth it. Again, had better yakitori's elsewhere, but serving size is much smaller, so you end up ordering more; which means more $$$$. Service was also amazing and food came out quick. Our favorite picks are: Unagi, teba, tsukune, beef harami, & Tori Q cucumbers. Will come back again for sure to try other skewers/apps. I will definitely order the chicken breast/green onions in tare sauce next time as opposed the mixed spices. In summary, I highly recommend to check this place out and experience the great ambiance and service.

    Yuzu-shio ramen
    Hiro S.

I'll give them solid 4-stars. I've been to Torikizoku in Japan, but this was the first time to go to the one in the US. (I've been to Zoku in Redondo Beach which is run by the same company, btw) The ambiance is nice and clean - much brighter and actually gives a bit nicer impression than the ones (typical izakaya atmosphere) in Japan. The service was solid - there were three servers checking/serving us during our visit, so no complaints. The food: Don't forget to order Yuzu-shio ramen when you visit. It really fits as nice 'closing' dish in lieu of dessert (for me!)

Here is my paid for receipt.

Chef that prepares food made our visit a horrible experience. I was dining with a guest. Ordered two chicken skewers, two veggie skewers, rice and miso soup. The Miso soup came out first. Five minutes later a bowl of rice came out. 3rd comes out one of the chicken skewers. I patiently waited for the remained of the food to come out so we can eat together. I look up and notice that the chef cooking the food was doing nothing and kept looking at me...as if I did something bad to him. I continued to wait. I kept noticing that the chef was doing nothing and kept giving me an evil look. I did not feed into the chef's evil antics. I notified the server (a young gentleman) that seated us, and mentioned that we were waiting on remaining food so we can eat together. Still no remaining food was delivered. I asked the (young lady server) and mentioned to her that we are still waiting. I did mention that I observed the restaurant was pretty empty and asked why my small table order would not come out together and mentioned that I felt the chef took it upon himself to have myself and my guest wait. By this time the double order of veggie skewers comes out (still waiting on my guest chicken skewer). Again the chef is giving me a mean mugging look again, like he decides when he is ready to give us our food. Finally, the 2nd chicken skewer (which is the last item) finally arrives. By this time, my first item (the 1st chicken skewer) is now cold. I ended up letting my server know that my 1st skewer was cold and to just send it back, by this time my appetite was ruined and the chicken was cold. After the server got a manager override, to take the first (cold) skewer off, it was taken off the bill. I ended up not eating and watched my guest eat their meal and we left. The servers were very apologetic. I let the servers know that it was not their fault, I advised that in the future it would be a good idea, to bring the proteins and veggies out together. Also I let the servers know that there was no excuse for the chef's behavior, since the restaurant was very slow. Nevertheless, I did leave a proper tip, because the servers should not have to suffer due to the chef behind kitchen was not properly doing his job and attending to the guest orders. I would recommend this place if the chef can pay attention and deliver orders in a complete manner and not piece out one item at a time...especially in this realistic situation aforementioned.

2.5 stars Stopped by Torikizoku after work hoping for a quick, easy dinner. The Yelp photos and reviews didn't exactly sell me but sake and chicken skewers sounded like a safe bet. I also managed to miss happy hour by literally minutes (walked in at 6:33...it ends at 6:30, of course). Ordered the Kubota sake, tako karaage, tori Q, and mune kizokuyaki. Total came out to about $44 with 20% tip. Food wise...pretty underwhelming. The tako karaage was chewy and didn't taste fresh and the oil had this off flavor that kind of ruined it for me. The skewers were just okay, nothing bad but nothing I'd go back for either. Overall, kinda regret stopping in. It wasn't terrible, just probably wouldn't return.

Came here for dinner on a Sunday and was surprised by how easy the experience was from start to finish. We were seated immediately with no wait during dinner time, and there's a large free parking lot, so getting in and out was hassle-free. The skewers were good overall, but one thing to note is that they don't have that smoky, charcoal-grilled flavor. If you're expecting a traditional yakitori experience, just keep that in mind. What we ordered: - Momo Kizokuyaki - 7/10 A classic choice. The chicken was juicy and cooked well, but it leaned a little under-seasoned, so it didn't leave much of a lasting impression. - Teba - 6/10 Chicken was kinda dry but seasoning was good. - Harami Beef - 7/10 The beef was tender and cooked nicely, but it also lacked a bit of seasoning. Good texture, just missing that extra punch of flavor that would've made it memorable. - Karaage - 8/10 My favorite dish of the meal. The portion size was just right, and the chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well-seasoned throughout. - Soboro Don - 8/10 This reminded me of an elevated Yoshinoya beef bowl--in the best way. It had richer flavors, better-quality ingredients, and the fresh ginger added a bright, flavorful contrast that tied everything together. Beyond the food, the service really stood out. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, respectful, and attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant was also spotless, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I'd definitely come back. While a couple of the skewers could use a little more seasoning and that signature smoky flavor, the friendly service, clean atmosphere, easy parking, and solid food make this a spot that's worth checking out.

Affordable but Torihei and Shin Sen Gumi skewers are packing more flavor.

Immediately walking in, it was STUFFY. It had a smell of rotten milk or just something spoiled. Extremely muggy feeling inside. It was cooler outside for sure. It was off-putting but I stuck it out and still decided to order some ice cream. The size of the place is mini so def an order to get to go and walk to the esplanade! The lady working definitely gave me plenty of samples to try from. I got 2 scoops. 1 scoop of a caramel something flavor and a scoop of their moose tracks. The serving size was good, average. The ice cream itself was creamy, sweet and fills that sweet treat craving. Personally, I would've like to order something else, but the samples buttered me up on getting these sweeter flavors. One thing to note is that they did not have signs or ask about allergens prior to offering samples. I ended up trying a sample that had peanuts and I completely forgot about my friend having a peanut allergy and I let them sample it as well. Thankfully, nothing happened. They were accomodating and offered us a free water bottle and waffle cone to get the peanut taste out their mouth. There's ample parking in the parking lot, it's part of a mini plaza. It's right down the street from Redondo Beach which is nice! Customer service was great! I thought the lady and man working were friendly and inviting. I hope they fix their AC or whatever the issue was with feeling so yucky inside!

I think, great since my elderly Dad is diabetic and shouldn't have a lot of ice cream, so I went with that but in a waffle cone, she said that would be $3.50. I said that's fine, I will have one in flavor A and the other one in flavor B, total came to $7.35 And I asked her to put the ice cream cone in a cup, so it would be easier for him to eat in the car as it was extremely hot that day, and I don't want it to drip all over the car. When she gave me the ice cream, it was both flavor in one cone. I told her I wanted 2 separate cone instead of all in one. And then she said it would be another $7, I was in a hurry, so didn't really put too much thoughts into it, and just charge it. So now I look at my charges, so it turns out the same serving, one is at $7.35 and the other is $7. When I get the ice cream, I asked her, so there nothing that is smaller than this. She said there is, but not in a waffle cone, it will be extra with a waffle cone. So I asked $2.50 in a regular cone and additional $3.50 for the waffle cone? She said yes!! I am still confused as to whether they have a smaller serving than small and how much it is. I check on the pricing people posted here and don't see a $2.50/$3.50 smaller size showing. It remains a mystery to me, and I really wanted to know as it will be a hot summer, both my elderly parents, who are diabetic, would probably asked for ice cream, and I really don't want them to have a small each on their own, since it is still a decent size and they don't like the same flavor, so they can't really share a small one.

Best fresh strawberry milk shaved ice in South Bay, California…read more Artistically made, most of all natural strawberries with a condensed milk flavor. Strawberries & puree drizzled on top. So refreshing, better than Hawaiian syrup shaved ice. More natural.

I've been a customer at Okrumong for the past six years, and I've always enjoyed the quality of…read moretheir bingsu and taiyaki. Unfortunately, my visit on July 25 was a completely different experience. The black sesame bingsu had a strong pepper-like taste, making it unpleasant to eat. On top of that, the taiyaki we ordered didn't arrive until about 30 minutes later, so we no longer had time to enjoy it at the restaurant and had to take it to-go. When we politely brought up the taste of the bingsu with an employee (a young man with glasses and shoulder-length hair), he became defensive, spoke to us rudely, and walked away in the middle of the conversation before we could finish explaining the issue. At that point, we weren't even complaining about the delayed taiyaki. We simply wanted to let them know something seemed wrong with the dessert. We did eventually receive an apology for the delayed taiyaki, but only after we asked about the reason for the delay. The employee explained that he had mixed up our order with another table. I've supported Okrumong for years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. Everyone makes mistakes, and a delayed order or a food quality issue can happen. What really stood out was how the situation was handled. I hope the management takes customer service more seriously, because this visit was far below the standard I've come to expect from Okrumong.

We decided to visit Riviera village after a relaxing morning stroll through Torrance Beach. Since…read moreit was almost noon, we searched on Yelp and decided to have some crepes for lunch. The restaurant has inside seating for 40 guests and outside for 30. We arrived between breakfast and lunchtime and were able to get the last outside table. The attentive staff got us seated right away, and after browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items (arrived in 15 minutes) : Marine: The buckwheat outer layer was soft, not soggy, and with nice resistance. The light creamy tomato-based dressing with sliced mushrooms was pleasantly flavorful. Both shrimp and scallops were of good size, fresh and juicy. Fromage: Like Marine Crepe, the buckwheat out layer was soft. The mild brie cheese provided pleasant creaminess to the filling. Seasoned bacon, scrambled egg, onion, and mushroom added nice savoriness to the dish. The portions were sensible and the prices were reasonable. Very nice culinary experience.

Been coming here a few times a month over the past 3 years, always loved it…read more But recently it really became subpar... First the food size is becoming ridiculous (au gratin potatoes so small) The service is where I'm shocked, the waiting staff turnover is crazy. I was there last Sunday evening (05/24) and one of the waiter with a French accent looks like he just started that day, he was clueless about the menu, didn't know what was the soup of the day, and very inattentive to our table (water refill, empty plates...) like he just wanted our tips ! Also I'm sorry about that one but he had a foul smell like he just finished working out... the table next to us was saying the same thing. I came back on Friday (05/29)early afternoon and seen the same waiter still no refill and same foul smell Im going to try their other locations in PV or Hermosa and see if I'm lucky and they're like that location used to be
