Store is closed despite posting regular hours.

Has not been opened in several months, a shame since IMO it is better than Handels since the ice cream isn't as sweet. A sign is posted outside with operating hours but the store has not been open.

The ice cream isn't anything special, 3 1/2 stars at most. I thought maybe this is a small mom and pop place that will make their own ice with a special recipe... It's not the case, they get it shipped somewhere. The ice cream girl didn't seem to really know how long the place has been opened either... probably just a high school kid working. Inside is nothing special either, a bit plain... service was pleasant. Would I come back here, no, not the type of quality of ice cream they serve and the price of a tiny scoop that cost $4.79. I should have driven to Handel's which is maybe a mile, if that. Lesson learn, go with your first intuition.

We were walking in Redondo Beach and my wife wanted some ice cream. She looked online, saw this place and thought we'd take a look. We got there and the first thing we asked was if they have non-dairy, and they did have one non dairy, which I tried and was very good, so I got a single cup with fudge and caramel and it was very, very good. My wife tasted a couple of flavors and she got a "double" with a couple flavors and really enjoyed hers. When ordering we got into a conversation with Christina, who is the brand new owner of the place. She's a very nice lady, shared a lot about herself and why she bought the place only a couple of months ago and said she works 7 days a week until 6pm and then she has a couple of others who work nights. Her son Robert was also there, who is also a very nice young man. They have all sorts of ice cream and in the rear of the store have a area where they sell cakes. We go down to Redondo Beach a couple times a month and plan on stopping by for more ice cream, and Christina said she'll be getting more non-dairy ice cream, which is really nice.

I have to say when you look in the window and it says our happy place it is so true you come into this place and the owners are amazing. I love Robert. He is always so respectful and sweet. Remembers my name and the ice cream that I like as well. The ice cream here they have so many flavors and they are all delicious. ..And don't get me started with his mom Cristina. She is very caring empathetic and loves her customers. caring empathetic and loves her customers. If anybody's out looking for some delicious treats, this is a must stop by and try and you will be back once you do... looking forward to seeing what happens during the summer for them.. success success, success

This place caught me by surprise. The shop itself is very unassuming and reminiscent of those down-to-earth ice cream places from my childhood. A colorful sorbet caught my attention called Sour Splash which I sampled. I thought was good but wasn't a flavor I was craving at the time. I asked to sample the dairy-free chocolate and the gal told me that they were out of it. There was also a dairy-free vanilla in the case but the gal let me know they also had a dairy-free soy-based Churro flavor that was brand new. It wasn't even in the display case. She pulled the tub out from a storage spot and gave me a sample. I was sold! It had a delicious cinnamon flavor and pieces of cinnamon-flavored cookie dough. Tasty stuff! https://bit.ly/3cSw1sX A single scoop was under $5 which was the perfect amount for me. The service was friendly. A small amount of tables inside. Not very crowded on a Sunday night and it very much feels like a neighborhood ice cream shop.

We love this ice cream spot! The ice flavors here are so good and people working here are nice too.

When I crave Ice Cream, I go here. Been coming here since we noticed upon moving back to California back in 2020. Their Ice Creams are well crafted and the flavors are both not too far from their name nor are they too sweet. Our go to flavors are Party Animal (which is not available at the moment) and Cookie Monster. But their flavors are definitely worth a try. Then the workers are very kind and polite. And the owner is down to earth and does her best to cater to the customers. Hand & Spoon will forever be "THE" spot for my ice cream fix

    Front of business.

This ice cream shop is not closed. Christina and her husband and sons run it, and they are working hard to give great service with delicious ice cream at competitive prices. They give lots of free samples of their many flavors as well. Try them out. Support small business!

I am a palled at the behavior of the owner/manager. I take my autistic son there about every month or so as a part of his outing while the housekeepers clean his bedroom. We hadn't been in months, and had a BOGO coupon we had had a while, but it didn't have an expiration date. After some other errands, we stopped, my son is 26 and too low functioning to take into the store, so he waits for me. He clearly understands we are getting ice cream. I walked into the store and only see a young man behind the counter. I show him my coupon, and he has to ask this woman, who is behind the closed door at the back, and she's on the phone, and says "we don't accept coupons anymore", and before I could say "Ok", she adds, "that was a promotion from like eight months ago". I knew it wasn't that old but really didn't come for myself anyways. I glanced up at the menu, and see a single scoop is six dollars, also thinking to myself, "this is why I only come here for Ryan". I scan ice cream creams, order chocolate chip in a cup, and ask if I can have a cone on top ( easier for me and Ryan). He serves me the tiniest scoop and rings me up and it's seven dollars. I why it was seven dollars, and he said "the is a dollar". I simply replied "I wish I had known that before, and is that really all I get for six dollars?" It's then that " "interjected, just as I was snapping a and said "I'm going to post this". This is where it went sideways with her. She was so upset over it, she took back my ice cream, and I said "I paid for that". She put it back down, got further upset, and requested the refund me and took it back again. That's when my eyes and I said "that is for my autistic son outside in my truck!" She essentially threw it back at me and told me to never come back, and she was refusing to ever serve me again. I laughed at that point and said, "don't worry, I won't and I'm hoping others won't be now too". I did leave letting her know. I have been going to that ice cream location since the a little girl, and it was sad. She probably wasn't going to make it. I have a soft spot for small business and perhaps she's feeling financially stressed so as I'm feeding my son another woman leaves with a double that each single was twice the size of mine. so many ways she could've handled the situation. She even offered me a discount after refusing to accept my coupon, but then I never received any discount except charged a dollar for the cone. Go to handles, or go to 31 if you want ice cream served by friendly people and portions that represent the high price..

Of course the usual x-factors of easy parking, no-wait short lines quick to serve, indoor ice cream parlor seating and the less-than-justified "lower prices, bigger portions" argument everyone has with every food vendor that exists... I come to this location all the time but never really pay attention to the pricing…read more The other day, I asked the girl at the counter if the small is the smallest size they have and she told me that there is a scoop that is at $2.50. I think, great since my elderly Dad is diabetic and shouldn't have a lot of ice cream, so I went with that but in a waffle cone, she said that would be $3.50. I said that's fine, I will have one in flavor A and the other one in flavor B, total came to $7.35 And I asked her to put the ice cream cone in a cup, so it would be easier for him to eat in the car as it was extremely hot that day, and I don't want it to drip all over the car. When she gave me the ice cream, it was both flavor in one cone. I told her I wanted 2 separate cone instead of all in one. And then she said it would be another $7, I was in a hurry, so didn't really put too much thoughts into it, and just charge it. So now I look at my charges, so it turns out the same serving, one is at $7.35 and the other is $7. When I get the ice cream, I asked her, so there nothing that is smaller than this. She said there is, but not in a waffle cone, it will be extra with a waffle cone. So I asked $2.50 in a regular cone and additional $3.50 for the waffle cone? She said yes!! I am still confused as to whether they have a smaller serving than small and how much it is. I check on the pricing people posted here and don't see a $2.50/$3.50 smaller size showing. It remains a mystery to me, and I really wanted to know as it will be a hot summer, both my elderly parents, who are diabetic, would probably asked for ice cream, and I really don't want them to have a small each on their own, since it is still a decent size and they don't like the same flavor, so they can't really share a small one.

I LOVE the glass panel decoration and the front decor which are simple details yet convenient decoration. The options have an interesting range in diversity, from ice cream and drinks. Their combinations are so unique, blending trendy flavors like matcha, honey, and many more delicious flavors. My favorite flavor I have tried so far, was the Dalgona Affogato--which I picked because I was thinking of the squid games. The dessert was so smooth but the honey was slightly overbearing. If that is not to your preference, they have other options that can certainly fit to your taste buds. The ice cream is perfectly sweet and an excellent treat in this summer weather. The honey crisps placed on top of the ice were so little, which I wished they had a bit more since it tasted so good with the smooth ice cream. Another thing I hoped was for the affogato to be a bit bigger portion. But then again, I am unsure about the sizings of affogato since this is my first time trying it. Thank you Honeymee Gardena for the experiance, hoping to try more in the future. While I've been here a few times this is my first formal review. I came with my family one Sunday evening on a hot July day, bypassing several chains on the way, including the new(er) Salt and Straw across the street. The inside is packed to the brim with sweets, small toys, and people, much like a candy shop of old. After reaching the front of the winding line our family shared a Banana Split ($13) - three scoops of ice cream, a split banana, hot fudge, a single dry topping (we chose coconut), whipped cream, and a trio of cherries - about as classic as it comes. The ice cream was good but not exceptional. The chocolate and strawberry were fairly generic, but I liked the third scoop of banana foster ice cream which had a nice banana kick. I doubt this ice cream is home made. The complements and construction to the sundae were great, however, and the flavors came together well. As I would hope for a location like this, the staff are local youths who served with patience and passion. In cases throughout the store are several of their other specialties - ice cream cookie sandwiches, dipped frozen bananas, and more - inviting repeat visits. Prices are elevated but not crazy for such a trendy area, although I would say with the middling quality of the ice cream a couple dollars less would be fine. Overall, Manhattan Beach Creamery is a local landmark worth at least a single visit for anyone in the area. If you can get past the generic, if a little boring, ice cream flavor and rampant commodification of the interior, you'll find a classic ice cream parlor with great service and history. Is it worth a repeat visit? I leave that to you. Food: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 4/5
