This place is super cute, perfect place to work and relax
Graciela R.

Hi , this place is super cute and cozy, perfect for working and gathering with your friends , I tried the cold brew coffee and it was delicious.

Inspo pic with ombre frosting and small translucent balls and fake butterfly toppers that I would have to supply

I am writing my review a second time because my first review was removed by Yelp saying I used AI to write my review. I am disappointed with the lack of professionalism from the owner Tina Brown. Last year I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday and it was a 4 inch cake with an add on design of pink color and white polka dots and her name and I brought a topper to add on the day of pick up. The cake was $50 plus $10 for the design fee for a total of $60. This year I wanted a 6 inch cake and found an ombre design they did on a past Instagram post on Cara Mia bakery. I also found some different butterflies I liked and lavender with pink colors. Previously I texted the baker to order and I called that my text didn't get a reply and they said to emails and they don't text anymore. I emailed the two photos and that I wanted a 6 inch cake in Janessa's strawberry cake. Tina Brown replied that it would be $148. I was surprised at the price jump from $60 for a small 4 inch cake to $148 for a 6 inch cake because she said I would purchase the butterfly topper and have to bring it in 4 days in advance to color match. She did not offer to buy and order them and charge me the cost. I replied what is the breakdown for the pricing of the cake. I went to their website and checked the cake is $78 for Janessa's cake, and if you want strawberries inside which she didn't quote it's $15 so that's $93. So I was confused as to why it's $55 extra to make an ombre cake with little clear balls around it and stick butterflies on it. Mixing 3 ombre colors when one color is already white and then using a spatula to create lines does not appear to be $55 of work. $55 for "custom design " is a lot. We went back and forth emailing and Tina said its because the cake is organic and hand made so it's $148. Then I said I know the cake itself is at most $93 for strawberries inside but why is it $55 for the ombre and small clear balls when there isn't really a design because it's sticking on butterflies that are already made and I have to buy and deliver them 4 days in advance. I also did not ask for a name on it like it had last year. In the last email Tina Brown said that I didn't "see the value" in their skill level for an ombre cake and because I didn't like the price for it she is " unable to make me a cake within my budget." This is after I even asked what is the price for one color of the the cake which is $83 and I was thinking about one color and doing the butterflies myself but she said she can't make me a cake at all now. This really upset me that even though I was asking ok what price is it for two ombre colors or one solid color, she didn't want to work with me to find a design within my budget. It's not really a design though because I didn't ask for flowers or fondant shapes of butterflies and her name on it. So I wrote my review and then she replied on here saying your name is not Mary S your real name is "-----" and wrote my full legal name and then she copied and pasted most of our email exchanges with my email signature that had my full name, professional title and certifications and then she wrote "l have removed your phone number and email for your privacy" but she repeatedly put my full name about 6 times with my professional credentials and job title. So I reported this to Yelp that it violated privacy rules and Yelp removed her response saying it violated their Content Guidelines. She also messaged me saying it was dishonest to use a false name and not tell the truth in my review. I reported this message to Yelp and they replied to me that they sent her a warning about her behavior. There is no rule on Yelp that you have to put your real name and last initial but she felt she had to expose my full legal first and last name multiple times. I did tell the truth in my review. I also wrote the same review on Google and she wrote the same response on Google with my full name and credentials and job title. I already had my full name for the review but putting my job title and credential in her response from our private emails 6 times is not necessary. She is aware of this and didn't remove it. I reported it to Google for privacy violation as well. The response to my review as of today 4/1/26 is still up and if she were professional she would edit her response to remove my credentials and job title because that is private and irrelevant and she said she removed my email address and number from the signature for my "privacy" but not those items so actually it is not protecting my privacy. Overall I am not happy she said I can't get a cake made because I don't value it and don't have a budget for it and also beyond that can't believe my full legal name, credential and job title was on the response here multiple times and it remains on Google.

Chocolate Chip Cookie

One time I happened to past by CMB, I saw someone walking out with 3 large boxes - that was a good sign. Today upon entering CMB, I saw the same thing. I decided to get a croissant, chocolate chip cookie and a regular coffee. The croissant was flaky, light and buttery. Nice chunky chocolate chips in the cookie. There's a little bit of salt on top of the cookie to give it some contrast. The coffee was quite smooth. Service was very friendly and prompt.

Delicious custom cake!

The employees are very nice and patient when there is a rush. Their pastries are so tasty and they even offer vegan/gluten free sweet treats. Anytime I have a family event or get together, I like to order a dozen or 2 of their lemon and blueberry scones! Everyone devours them and their custom cakes are beautiful.

Vegan chocolate date scone. New flavor for me.
Janelle J.

Renamed bakery and cafe - same goodness! I've never seen this vegan chocolate date scone before so I had to try. I have a few reward cards filled so I got a free drip coffee today. I tried one of the new paninis - vegan grilled cheese. The hypotenuse on that thing is 7 inches. Totally shareable or seconds. I always buy more than one item to taste throughout the day. Most of their flavor-filled croissants are fancy with pinch pleats. Last week I was lucky and made it in the nick of time to taste the Nutty Irishman after St. Patty's Day (old clip of my first taste). Service is always great! The owner knows me by name teehee. I also find the decor comfy and cozy with barstool and sofa seating options. If I lived closer I'd have a seat.

Banana bread--absolute must-try

Super delish, every treat, cake, and pastry was amazing! They even had a bunch of free samples to try. Staff was very friendly and provided great recommendations. Lots of seating and games to play while you eat. Definitely stop by if you're a sweets lover like I am!

Custom designed Jenessa's Strawberry Vanilla Vegan Cake
Bree L.

I needed a last minute cake for my boyfriend's 40th surprise birthday celebration. Cara Mia came to the rescue with putting my order in barely 1.5 days notice. (Mind you, one of my friends was supposed to be in charge of the cake - but TWO other bakers bailed due to cake design and color choice.) Anna and Stephanie MADE IT HAPPEN! The design was exactly what I envisioned after showing just one inspiration photo and a secret party flyer that was made. The Jenessa's Strawberry Vanilla cake was delicious! EVERYONE kept saying they loved it! Aside from the amazing cakes ... you can't go wrong with anything else from this place! From coffee, to spritzers, to pastries, to delicious sandwiches, there is literally something for everyone! Some of my favorite items from here are: *Tres Leches latte *Bourbon Browed Butter Bread Pudding *Burnt Honey, Goat Cheese & Fig Puff *Rancheros breakfast panini This is a staple and must try in Lomita! Thank Stephanie and your team for everything as always!

Brenda L.

The good: I got the ferrero rocher (chocolate hazelnut) cake from here for my birthday. It had crunchy small chocolate balls inside that added a nice texture. You could taste the hazelnut but it's not as pronounced as in the candy. The bad: The cake was dense and a bit too rich. It's very much an American style cake because of the thick buttercream, heavy cake and non-fluffy frosting. I would've liked for the cake to have more crunch and more hazelnut flavor. The interesting: If you opt to not having writing atop the cake then you'll get chocolate shavings instead.

Vegan blueberry scone. Forgot to get the before.

Came in to check out the vegan items for my allergy kid. They have a nice vegan and gluten-free selection of cakes, scones, and cookies. They also have regular items that looked delicious, but I was on a mission. The young lady who helped me was super nice and helpful. She was able to answer my questions about ingredients and even made sure to grab an item that was in the back to make sure nothing was touching an allergen from the display case. I appreciated her extra care which made me give them 5 stars. They are pricey for the size of the item, but at this point everything is expensive. Great service will have me coming back for a regular item for myself next time!

Exterior I have been passing by this place, and we had to stop in

4/30/2024 I have driven by this location multiple times each time I was tight on time. Out of immediate impulse, I quickly threw a you turn and told my passenger, "Let's hop off and see what we're missing out on." We are a family who loves sweets. After parking and walking towards Cara Mia, I quickly noticed they have a lovely sitting area outside, which is surrounded by a few newly planted flowers, which gave the landscaping appeal. As we excitingly walked in, we were the only customers at the time, I immediately immersed myself in everything they had began reading their menu, looking thru the glass of where each and every dessert laid. I asked how long the business had been open. It has been several years. Oh, what a treat ! To have witnessed all the hard work that goes into making scones while visiting. I have been wanting a slice of cake, and they had plenty to choose from. I purchased 2 different styles of cake, strawberry, cookies, and cream, which were $7.95 each and mom's chocolate banana coffee cake @ $6.15. I purchased 3 different deserts for tonight's dinner. The strawberry and cream were a hit so moist and just the right amount of strawberries. However, it was so thinly sliced that we had two bites each, which was really 1 due to portion size. Lol At home, we all sliced every desert into 3 slices so everyone gets a try of each desert. The cookies and cream were a little dense and a bit dry. Mom's chocolate banana coffee cake was not a favorite among the three of us. Honestly, I thought I'd devoured it and like it the most, but it was my least favorite. We also bought 3 macaroons chocolate, strawberry, lemon again the strawberry was my favorite the lemon was real tangy so delicious. I am not a coffee drinker but love the smell of it brewing. So we passed on anything warm.

Ask the Community - Cara Mia Baking

What flour do you use in the gf items (brownie and almond cake)?

Every GF item actually contains a custom GF mix depending on the item! We make our GF mixes in-house. Some contain rice flour and starches, and some, such as the Almond Ricotta cake, are made with almond flour.

Is this still the same Trim Tart bakery?

Yes, same ownership, just a name change of the business from what I understand.

Are the vegan pastries made with soy?

Cakes, cupcakes, chocolate chip & snickerdoodle cookies contain soy. Our soy-free vegan pastries are: vegan scones, vegan danish cookies, almond bars and Vegan Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Do you do vegan cakes, my son is allergic to eggs and cow's milk, and his bday is coming up we wanted him to have at least a bday cake he can eat with everyone? - possibly do a small smash cake

Yes, they do! And they are delicious!!

Do you have any dessert/cake options for someone with gestational diabetes?

Hello! I had gestational diabetes, so I totally understand. We can make cakes sugar-free upon request, but they will not be otherwise low-carb.

Do you offer any gluten free baked goods?

Yes we offer a variety of gluten-free pastries daily, and can make GF celebration cakes upon request.

Is this a keto friendly shop?

Hi Tracy - we are working on a chocolate cake right now that is keto friendly. Our coffee bar currently offers heavy cream for coffees and lattes. Stay tuned for the arrival of our cake!

We picked up the Boloniya Bread (small, $9.95) and it was amazing - super soft, rich, and lightly sweet, the kind of bread you can enjoy completely on its own. We also ordered two drinks: one matcha with matcha jelly, and the other almond milk with matcha jelly. The matcha itself was high quality and good tasting, with a really nice ice-to-matcha ratio, and the jelly had a soft, silky texture that wasn't overly sweet. Everything worked really well together. Being connected to Mitsuwa Market is a big plus. There's a great food court with plenty of indoor seating and a large outdoor patio, making it an easy place to grab food, meet up with friends, and hang out for a bit. The food court also offers a variety of options at reasonable prices, which adds to the overall appeal of stopping here. Even as a quick takeout stop, this place really stands out. A great spot when you're craving quality Japanese baked goods and drinks.

Review #908 2025-083…read moreOTM Club 11/20/22 - 11/26/22 (sold out, missed OTM redemption) Food Order: Melon Pan & Raisin Danish I originally came to Hamada Ya Bakery to redeem a comped Cream Puff via OTM Club, but it was late in the day, about an hour before closing so they were sold out & other baked goodies were limited. Since it's not technically an "off the menu" item, I was hoping the bakery would be flexible to substitute the cream puff with something of similar pricing -- nope. According to other reviewers, they often sell out by the afternoon so you need to stop by in the morning to get first pick. I was here with my LO so couldn't leave empty handed & perused the shelves for anything interesting. Just to be on the safe side, we picked a raisin danish (can't go wrong with that) & melon pan. Not sure if it's late in the day or what, but both were pretty stale tasting... I spritz both with a little water & dropped them in the convection oven, which help restore some of the danish's flaky exterior while warming the interior, the melon pan's crust was toasted & sort of melted, but made the interior fluffier & warm. The raisin danish was ok flavor-wise, while the melon pan lacked flavor (too mild; crust lacked sweetness). Hamada Ya Bakery is located in Mitsuwa Marketplace at Del Amo Fashion Center, just off to the right upon entry. While there's plenty of parking available, the spaces near the bakery/market are often full. The bakery is really small, & cannot accommodate 2 people in the cramped aisles. Moderate to slightly high price points for a Japanese bakery. I typically visit other Japanese bakeries in the South Bay, but if I happen to dine at the market's food court or shop in the market, I will browse the bakery for goodies. I'm hoping to try their popular pudding that I keep missing because I'm often here late in the day.

The space itself is absolutely stunning with lots of seating both inside and outside. The store has a lot of floral decor, which gives it a very clean and spring vibe. The standouts for me here was the banana pudding, Matcha and the array of pastries they had available. We purchased two drinks here, one of which was the banana pudding Matcha and the other was a tiramisu cold brew. The banana pudding Matcha is one of the best drinks I've ever had with a rich high-quality Matcha and fresh creamy banana pudding inside. It's basically two desserts in one, and the flavors complement each other so well. Highly highly recommend - it's viral for a reason. The tiramisu cold brew was also good, although next time I would probably opt for a latte on the bottom since the cold brew is pretty strong. The foam on top was sweet and creamy. The pastries here are absolutely stunning, and I wish I could buy the entire display case. We ended up purchasing a Dubai chocolate croissant and a plain salt bread. The Dubai chocolate croissant was very unique - on the drier side but it definitely had that crunch and flake. I wish they had a little bit more chocolate or buttery elements to balance out the dryness of the cocoa powder. The salt bread was absolutely delicious, very well-made with a chewy texture. I will 100% be back to try everything else that Bag of Cakes has to offer. Highly recommend! I returned on a different day, same thing, so I left. Fast forward to May of 2026, I happen to be in the shopping center, so I decided to check it out. No line. The pastry cases looked amazing. There were so many choices; it was really hard to decide. There were several workers, but they seemed pretty uninterested in helping. No pep in the step, no energy, no eagerness to start ANY kind of small talk. This is so crazy. If you're walking into a small bakery that needs your business, why wouldn't they make a little more effort in creating a welcoming atmosphere for people who walk in, ready to dish out the pricey price for your pastries?! It makes no sense to me unless they are being paid very little or not being trained on etiquette and customer service. Just go into any Trader Joe's for reference: their cashier service is very welcoming and kind--and they are a huge grocery chain! It's not just this small bakery, I found worse non-service at the Fountain Valley location of Paderia! That review is next. I hate giving a 2-star review. But, the actual pastries I got were stale, dry, at least a day old, not fresh, FULL-priced pastries. I've gotten better tasting day old/end of day pastries from Too Good to Go, but they were severely discounted! I'm not sure how long they will get away with charging full price for stale pastries. Even my kids said the same thing. I was like is it just me? Incredulously thinking, it can't be, and sure enough, I read the reviews, and someone else said the same thing. I get it's a tough business. It's so sad all around. They should be getting a lot more tax breaks than big corporations do (who pay no taxes and pay to rig the rules), but there are several areas of improvement that could be made that is under their control. Maybe make fewer pastries each day, train your workers, etc. The cream and custard fillings are good, but I'm not going back.

However, oddly enough, they had more selections available! I think it's because they have time stamps listed on each pastry so that the pastries are inside the display case for no more than 4 hours. I thought the pastries would have remained good at least until the end of the day, so to hear of their 4 hour shelf life was a bit surprising to me. For the record, I've been to several other Paris Baguettes before, but this was the first time I noticed these time stamps. Even though the variety of pastries was not as much compared to the other standalone locations, I still had a difficult time deciding which pastry to get! However, I noticed a new flavor of a supreme croissant I hadn't seen before: pink velvet. I've heard of red velvet, but not pink, and presuming that this is a seasonal offering for Valentine's Day, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to try one before that special day. They had other supreme croissant flavors like chocolate and salted caramel pretzel, but I'm sure those flavors will be offered for much longer than the pink velvet. I do remember trying a strawberry supreme croissant from the Cerritos location, so perhaps after Valentine's Day, that would take the place of the pink velvet. After grabbing one of two Pink Velvet Supreme Croissants left in the display case, I made my way around and to the register. Phone in hand, I had the Paris Baguette app pulled up to redeem my reward. Actually, a good part of me had thought that this location inside Hannam Chain wouldn't honor my reward because for Tous Les Jours, the locations inside Hmart wouldn't be eligible for earning points or redeeming rewards. Luckily, Paris Baguette is not Tous Les Jours, and I was able to redeem my reward with no trouble. The cashier who rang me up was pretty friendly as well. She placed my Pink Velvet Supreme Croissant in a small paper bag and wished me a good day. While there are a handful of tables inside the food hall portion of Hannam Chain, most were occupied by customers of other eateries, so I simply went outside to enjoy my free sweet treat. The pink velvet ruby chocolate that covered the top portion of the round croissant didn't have nearly as much flavor, though the Valentine's sprinkles on top did make for a nice touch at least. Also, the custard cream inside didn't taste like anything at all! It wasn't bad, but it makes me wonder how much more flavorful the salted caramel pretzel would have been. I'll be sure to get that on my next visit to a Paris Baguette! I got the croissant about 2.5 hours after they were prepared, so maybe they would have tasted better had I gone 2 hours earlier? Lastly, I'm kind of shocked that this is pretty much the only Paris Baguette location in the South Bay. With how expansive a city like Torrance is, you would think they'd have at least a second location elsewhere like in Hmart. Otherwise, the next closest location would be in Long Beach, which literally just opened at The Pike Outlets. Overall, it's not a bad Paris Baguette to go to, but if you live in the South Bay, you'd be better off downloading the 85C Bakery app over the Paris Baguette app as there are much more 85C locations in the area. Also, this Paris Baguette may not necessarily carry your favorite pastries here, so heed caution if you plan to go out of your way to visit this patisserie.

Poor customer service, no clue on what a croissant should look like…read more Unfriendly and dismissive, not even a good morning when I greeted her. Feedback: When you package pastries, you need to add a cookie sheet, or other in the box, Never just drop the pastries into the box. Your croissants are dry, too crunchy and overcooked. The pan aux raisin is hard, heavy and not what it should be. All, do yourself a favor, head to Lomita to Cream Pan.

Stopped by Bag of Cakes in Fullerton on a Wednesday around lunchtime to pick up a birthday treat…read morefor my brother-in-law, and wow this place was packed, which is always a good sign! I grabbed the Strawberry Matcha cake slice, and it looked absolutely beautiful. I was on my lunch break, so I didn't get a chance to try more, but everything in the display looked amazing. They had so many cake selections, plus pastries and drinks, which definitely makes me want to come back and actually spend more time there. Even though it was super busy, the service was impressively fast and efficient. One employee helped take my order and package everything up, and the cashier rang me up quickly, so the whole process was seamless and perfect when you're on a lunch break. The atmosphere felt very family-friendly, and despite how busy it was, the experience was still smooth. Parking is free, there's a small lot directly in front, but if that fills up, there's additional parking in the connected plaza, which makes it easy. I didn't get to try the cake but brother-in-law and sister said the cake was delicious. If you're in the Fullerton area and looking for a cute dessert spot with lots of options, this is definitely worth checking out!
