The storefront of the popular full-service catering operation (founded in 2015) in the LA area, Bites & Bashes Cafe in Lomita opened in 2018. My wife and I had an enjoyable breakfast experience, tasting some unique dishes that are worth coming in for. We had a real early errand in the Lomita area, so wanted to take advantage by trying a different breakfast place. They have a really informative website, explaining the owning family's participation and how some of their food is sourced. It's a brunch place (open from 8 am to 2/3 pm, Tu-Su), so needed to wait a bit outside (street parking only, found one hour free parking right in front since coming so early). Menus are available at the front counter, and you place and pay (clover) for your order first. The food came out soon after, delivered to your table. There is a self-serve water jug in the same area as take-as-you-need take-out containers (also saw a self-serve costco-size plastic wrap box for wrapping...such a Korean thing to do). Utensils and napkins are available at the table to take for need. I really like places like this that have optimized the service experience, getting what you need without having to track someone down. Forking Around's Filipino Burrito ($18.95) - a collab with the food influencer 'Forking Around' to put into a breakfast burrito, many common ingredients from a Filipino breakfast. This includes egg, garlic fried rice as base and a vegetable lumpia with longanisa pieces, wrapped in a good flour tortilla. Sides were both a cilantro lime crema and a well made sawsawan. The sausage was not too sweet nor too red (though perhaps a bit too meatloaf-like), and the lumpia in the burrito worked for me. Korean Breakfast with bulgogi and steamed rice ($19.95) - it was served in a cast-iron skillet and the pan had been heated up greatly...super hot when served and still warm by the time we left. The flavor of the bulgogi was solid, and I loved the presentation. Taco Truck Burrito ($17.95) - korean-style al pastor pork, with pineapple and kimchi fried rice and egg. It was good....forgot to ask if the meat was really cooked on a vertical rotisserie. Came with a good chipotle salsa and lime crema. We were done in 30 minutes, from entry to exit. It wasn't too busy, so asked the front-of-house lead where the longanisa sausage and lumpia were made...she stated that it was all in-house. That's really impressive, making an ingredient from scratch that is only used in one dish. This recent visit was disappointing. First, parking is not great. A few years ago they used to have the small lot on 25514 Narbonne for staff and customers but, now it is for staff only. So it's only street parking. If you need the blue placard parking, there is only 1 space behind their small building. They have Korean and Filipino inspired dishes. Ie. banana turon or ube pancakes, Filipino inspired burrito with longanisa. I chose the bulgogi plate and asked for no white rice and was offered fruit or salad in lieu of. Tasty bulgogi w/a small egg on top yet the portions are very modest. In the middle of my meal, I ordered one more item- the krak fries which were very garlicky. They go for the presentation with the floral and greens to jazz up the look. Hubby's dish was straight ahead- Bulgogi cheesesteak and fries. Also modest in portions. Iced decaf Americano in a plastic cup and OJ in a plastic cup. Kinda odd considering their price points. Some beverages are in mugs. This was more like a 2.75 stars rounded up to 3. read more

We stopped by for brunch with the family and had such a great experience. The cafe itself is adorable--cute, cozy, and full of charm. The staff was incredibly sweet and welcoming, which always makes a meal that much better. To start, we shared the coconut shrimp and the crack fries, and wow... the crack fries absolutely lived up to their name. They were dangerously addictive. Crispy, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. We kept reaching for "just one more" until the basket was empty. The coconut shrimp was also fantastic and a perfect starter to share. For entrees, my parents split the vegan Korean glass noodles and absolutely loved them. They were packed with flavor and surprisingly hearty. I ordered the Korean breakfast, which was my favorite dish of the meal. I'm a huge bulgogi fan, and everything on the plate was savory, flavorful, and satisfying. My sister-in-law got the kimchi fried rice, which was also delicious, and my brother ordered the Filipino breakfast burrito. It was good, but compared to everything else we tried, it wasn't the standout dish for our group. My only real complaint was that it was pretty warm inside the restaurant. The AC didn't seem to be running, and there was only one small window open, so it got a little uncomfortable during brunch. That said, the food, service, and overall atmosphere more than made up for it. We all left happy, and the ultimate seal of approval came from my mom, who said she'd happily come back. If I could give Bites and Bashes 10 out of 5, I would! I did wedding catering with them, and they were so responsive and gave us quality food for the reception. We've also eaten at their cafe a couple of times and absolutely love their spread of breakfast and lunch dishes, with highlights like garlic noodles, spam musubi, ube pancakes, and breakfast burritos. We came here on a whim since we were in the area and were pleasantly surprised. The cafe is really clean and comfortable. And 20 mins after they opened, the seats were all filled with regulars, so that was a nice sign. We ordered both the original breakfast burrito and the KBBQ breakfast burrito. The original is definitely better, but the real winner is their sauces. The red sauce is out of the world good. It's smoky and umami forward. I could use that sauce on anything. My friends and I absolutely LOVE Bites & Bashes Cafe and we keep coming back. The food is absolutely delicious. I have tried the ube lava pancakes which are huge! Definitely shareable. The kimchi fried rice is also a favorite but I have to say the Shakshuka is something I would order again and again. My only complaint with the shakshuka is I would love an extra piece of toast to sop up all the yumminess. My friends have had their lattes and burritos and they say everything is amazing. Everything I have tried are super flavorful and the presentation is so pretty. The little flowers and vegetables are foraged from their garden. The owner who is also the chef often comes out to greet us during our meals and she is the best. I love her style and I want to be her then I grow up. We usually park in the neighboring residential streets and it's never terrible. I know we will continue to come here and while I do want to try everything on their menu I feel like I will always come back for the Shakshuka. read more

Street parking, but we found parking easily. Order at the counter and they bring it to you. Super clean inside. Presentation of food was beautiful. Water is self serve. Their crack coffee is basically a Vietnamese coffee or something similar. Super good. Both dishes were great, however, I will say they over cooked the egg on the fried rice. All good though! I like the way they cook their spam, a little more on the crispy side! To go containers and bags are also on the side for self serve. I'm not sure if spoons were available, I never really asked. Been wanting to try this place out and finally had some free time from work and here we are :) the restaurant is not too hard to find and there's street parking all around. I was able to find one right in the front of the stores. Yay! Grab a menu and sit and look it over or just chill at the counter and order upfront. I'm not a huge fan of that as they always ask for tip upfront and I never tip prior to getting serviced. In fact when I have to service myself I'There's a tip jar for cash tips which I used afterwards. I ordered pops pastrami burrito and my wife got the ube lava pancakes. I really loved the pickles inside the pastrami burrito, they really went well together. The burrito also came with a cilantro sauce and salsa (spicy) on the side. Both really tasty. The ube pancake was fluffy, hot and sweet. It had organic mulberry and blueberry on top. My wife was very pleased to have mulberry as that is a very rare fruit to see here especially organic. The waitress says it's grown from their own farm. It provides a lot of the organic ingredients in their food. They use to sell it at the shop when there were more. Overall: love the food, friendly service, thought the portion could of been more. The burrito was a bit on the smaller side. But we'll def be back to try out other items. read more

!!! READ IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES !!! We told the staff member taking our order that someone in our group had a mild peanut allergy and asked if any of the dishes contained nuts. She was really quick to cut us off and say no substitutions even though we were just asking about ingredients. We went back and forth for a bit, and in the end, I'm not sure if she understood what we were asking, but nobody died so I guess it's ok..? If you have an extreme allergy or sensitivity, please make sure the staff 100% understands! Guava Lemonade (5/5) - Super refreshing and perfectly sweet Crack Fries (5/5) - Literally crack, seasoned well, and I recommend ordering to share! Original Breakfast Burrito (3/5) - I felt like this burrito was pretty average. As you can see from the photo, it was mostly tater tots, there were only two pieces of bacon inside, and I didn't taste or see any scallions? Our food came our pretty fast and the atmosphere is cute and cozy! Just taking a star off for the allergy incident and the mid burrito. The good: I tried the Filipino collab breakfast burrito with vegetable lumpia inside, a jammy egg, garlicky rice and longganisa sausage. It came with a cilantro sauce as well as some pickled red onion. I also tried the turon pancakes which had slices of jackfruit on top to give it an extra Asian flair. There is seating indoors and outdoors. I had the thin mint iced latte which was good and not too sweet. There were lots of flavor options for lattes. They had a kids menu as well and lots of side options. There were lots of Korean-inspired dishes as well like Kim chi fried rice. There was an entire menu just for different breakfast burritos. The turon pancakes really tasted like the real caramelized turon. It had a nice sticky syrup on top that wasn't too sweet. The pancakes came super hot and were fluffy. The portion size was great. The cilantro sauce on the burrito was delicious. The pickled veggies added nice acidity that I appreciated. The bad: I don't know if there was any parking other than street parking. We parked right out front which was 1 hour parking and to the side is 20 minute parking. The interesting: You order and pay at the counter and the food gets brought out to you. I saw they had fresh cookies baked as well. Inside, there were festive balloons. I am not sure if it's always there or if they were from a special event. Tried the breakfast burrito and my son also had one of their breakfast skillets, I just can't remember the names, but I've included pictures. My burrito was satisfying but it was either missing a specific flavor or had a spice that didnt sit well with the other ingredients. I know it had garlic which I love though. Nice little establishment. Bright, cool ambience. The food presentation was very nice. Parking can be funny. Coffee was good. Customer service was pleasant and quick. Bites and Bashes is a neighborhood cafe serving delicious fusion style breakfast. Wonderful and cheerful staff. There are about five - six tables inside, but they have sidewalk tables set up, perfect when the weather is nice. The Filipino inspired breakfast burrito is amazing! All the Pinoy's favorite breakfast items wrap into one explosion of flavors. The Mediterranean Omelet is fresh, fully loaded. Portion size is big enough to share. Saw an IG reel on the "Filipino" breakfast burrito so we decided to give Bites & Bashes another shot after a few previous bad experience. We went on a Sunday and they were busy. The Asian girl who was behind the counter was rude. Did not greet us, instead- she was in a hurry to take our order and get rid of us. Ordered the "Filipino" breakfast burrito and the KBBQ Breakfast Burrito. We also ordered 2 iced coffees, 1 with cream. She made my coffee and added regular milk which I did not ask for. The Filipino breakfast burrito was the worst we have ever had. The rice was hard (probably day or two old), The Longanisa was not good and the lumpia inside was horrible. The KBBQ burrito was decent but very greasy. We made a mistake falling for the hype on the breakfast burrito. Service was one of the worst we had ever experienced. 10/10 Bites & Bashes seriously surprised me in the BEST way! The food is SUPER good, like did not expect it to be *that* good. Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality. The staff were so accommodating and friendly, even though it was busy. They still made sure we were taken care of, which I really appreciated. I also LOVE that they include Filipino food in their Asian fusion menu Most Asian fusion spots focus on Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, or Korean, so seeing Filipino options made me so happy! We came here on a whim after finishing a 5-mile morning hike and were starving. Safe to say... we did not leave hungry. It's a small and cozy cafe/restaurant, located on a corner in a neighborhood, so you can either park along Narbonne or find street parking nearby! When you walk in, you order right at the front, grab a number, sit wherever you'd like, and they bring the food out to you -- and quickly!! Even though we were super hungry, we didn't feel like we were waiting long at all. I ordered the Korean Breakfast and my boyfriend got the Spicy Chorizo Chilaquiles Breakfast Burrito plus Crack Fries. The Korean Breakfast lowkey reminded me of Pepper Lunch -- it came out sizzling on a cast iron pan and was saucy, savory, and so satisfying. The crack fries were crispy and super flavorful (the name makes sense lol). The burrito was delicious too -- my boyfriend skipped the beans, which I actually think was a good move because it let the chilaquiles portion really shine and keep that nice crunch. Had this spot bookmarked for a while after seeing a video of their Filipino inspired breakfast dishes. we were especially excited to try the Filipino burrito but unfortunately it missed the mark for us :( The longanisa wasn't very good and the lumpia inside tasted more like a regular veggie egg roll. Because there was so much going on inside the burrito, it also wasn't crunchy like we were hoping. We also ordered the ube lava pancakes, which were pretty good overall. They didn't really taste like ube though more like white chocolate and were VERY sweet, but still tasty. Sadly, for the price point we left feeling fairly disappointed. read more

Food Decided to come here since I saw that they had a collaboration for a filipino inspired menu. For myself, I ordered an emeril's burrito which I think is their take on new orleans flavors, but I was still able to taste the filipino breakfast burrito as I was able to split it with another person in my party. We also ordered the banana turon pancakes and I got a matcha latte for myself as well. I am sucker for a good breakfast burrito and to be honest, their burrito wasn't the best. Flavorwise, I would say it was pretty good but definitely needed a bit more push especially the emeril's in my opinion. Still a good burrito nonetheless, just needed improvement. I would say my biggest disappointment as other people in my party pointed out was the rice, as we felt it was undercooked which kinda didn't do it for us in a burrito. Overall tho, we still enjoyed our time and the food as well. The best thing for me tho, were the pancakes. Hands down the best breakfast burritos in the South Bay. Can't believe I just found out about this place recently and am so happy with the awesome find! A bit pricey but the ingredients taste super fresh and good quality too. The pico de gallo and salsa that comes with it are delicious as well. They do get pretty busy and if the phone lines are down, you can order online from Clover! Parking is pretty tricky. It's just street parking on the main street and residential. 4.5 stars. Got take out. The ube pancake, Korean burrito and the Filipino burrito. The Filipino burrito was a bit disappointing since it was getting a lot of hype on Instagram. Maybe it would have been better if we had it for lunch/dinner since we had it for brunch. The Korean burrito was really flavorful and yummy. And the star of the show was the pancake!! The ube frosting was very sweet so im glad it was on the side. The pancakes were real buttermilk pancakes, so thick and fluffy and just amazing. A great little spot with Korean influence and a very kind owner. My wife and I came to taste a couple of dishes that we were seeing on the Yelp page. Small place with a few tables. My wife and I chose to sit at the window that has a bar type seating in front of it that looks out to street. You take a menu from the front, find a seat and when you decide what you want you go to the counter and order and get a number to take to your table. Inside is quiet, open and bright. We ordered the Crack Fries, the Vegetable Dumplings, the Korean Breakfast and the Kimchi Fried Rice. All was delicious. The sauce on the fries was very good and they layer it. Instead of putting all the fries and sauce on top. So every fry has sauce. Everything was so good. Kimchi Fried Rice is spicy, not spicy for me but for others that can't do spicy. The Korean Breakfast was my favorite. The flavors were so good I wanted to finish it all beyond my stomach's ability. Service is very attentive and the owner came out and checked on every table. Parking is scarce around the restaurant but the neighborhood has a few spots. So go, what are you waiting for? read more

Went to B&B for a second visit. I went with my mini-Yelper. They were much more crowded and the street parking was a little more challenging. We ordered two classic burritos. Someone from the back came with a burrito and a breakfast sando. I pointed it out it wasn't my order (not sure why they give out numbered table cards if they are just going to randomly try to deliver food). I think they may have been short staffed. Dirty dishes lingered on the tables a bit too long in my humble opinion. Anyhow, they came back with the orders. My original breakfast burrito was overall tasty but maybe too many tater tots and it tasted greasy. Unfortunately, for my mini-Yelper, they didn't render out the bacon so it was flabby. The plates they served them on seem to be better suited for babies. Just a personal opinion. They put a spoon full of pico in one pocket and a spoonful of a tasty hot sauce, and a random single Scor pepper. This was not as good of an experience as the first time I came here. Tried Bites and Bashes in Lomita and was seriously impressed! The burritos were delicious -- packed with flavor and super satisfying. I was able to try the Spicy Chorizo Chilaquiles and Taco Truck burrito and both were great. My favorite was the Taco Truck burrito though. The pork al pastor, pineapple, eggs and kimchi really complemented each other. I only wish the spicy pork al pastor was a little spicier. I didn't feel like the burrito was spicy at all. The spicy chorizo chilaquiles burrito was also good and had a nice crunch from the chilaquiles. Like the Taco Truck, this was also not that spicy. I also had the coconut matcha which was refreshing. We also ordered the kids Mini American meal which my daughter really enjoyed. She ate everything on the plate and really loved the sprinkles on the pancakes and the glazed bacon. I tried this place for the first time last week and was a bit disappointed. First I called in my order (KBBQ Breakfast Burrito) but when I got there about 5 minutes later they had no record of it so I placed it again at the counter. Another customer who came in after me had the same issue. Not sure where the disconnect is on their side. When I the burrito the flavor was underwhelming. The bulgog beefi was pretty bland. Do you guys remember that one scene in rattatoullie where the food critic guy tastes the dish and his taste buds are so shocked his mind reels back into his childhood? Well that's how I felt when I had the pancakes. I'm a huge pancake fan and always on the hunt for a good pancake, so the all American was my first choice when I first tried this place out. Best pancakes I have ever had. It's the texture. It's melt in your mouth soft, spongy, warm. You can tell it's freshly made. You can taste everything good that is supposed to be in a pancake. I have no idea what their secret is but I have been to MANY places and never have I had a pancake as good as theirs. Now I won't have them anywhere else, I am loyal to this place when it comes to a pancake. Taste took me back to when my mom would have steaming hot freshly made pancakes on a morning before school. I almost cried. Seriously, try their pancakes if you are a pancake fan too. Their shakshuka and kimchi rice dish is also amazing. I live in the Bay Area and I'm out for a quick weekend trip. We got up this morning and searched for food. This place sounded good so we headed over. I already knew by looking at the menu that I wanted Kimchi fried rice and a rose latte. My husband ordered the banana pancakes (with taron, caramel, and jackfruit. He also ordered a salted caramel latte. Omg. Everything was amazing. Additionally, the service was great, the staff was kind, and Chef Julie delivered the pancakes to our table. Such a treat! If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. That's not an exaggeration. My boyfriend sent me a reel on Instagram that features the "Filipino Breakfast Burrito" . I was sold. We stopped in around 1pm and there was plenty of seating and the ambiance and environment was calming and relaxing. I obviously ordered the Filipino Breakfast Burrito and my boyfriend ordered the CFO breakfast burrito. We also added an order of the Ube Pancakes. This is gonna be a long review but I gotta break it down. Banana Matcha Latte: 9.6/10 the banana flavor wasn't overpowering or artificial at all and the matcha was smooth Horchata Espresso: my bf ordered this with an extra shot of espresso 10/10 The food, was amazing. We got to speak to Julie, the lovely chef behind all these amazing dishes and she told us how a lot of the items in the food are homemade and that blew my mind. The service was impeccable. I left nothing but crumbs on my plate. The ube pancakes, were so fluffy, and absorbed the ube syrup in such a nice way that every bite was an ube explosion. I left feeling full and satisfied. Review #844 2025-016 Food Order: Asian Chicken Salad (chicken, romaine, crispy wontons, almonds, carrots, onions, sesame vinaigrette), Tater Tots Ever since Bites & Bashes Cafe took over Continental Gourmet Market Lomita's bakery space, I flagged the cafe but didn't try them until last year. This catering & events company is helmed by mother-daughter duo: Executive Chef Julie & President Crystal Coser. Its cuisine reflects EC Julie's home country: Korea with influences from SE Asia, Mexico, & Mediterranean. She's a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, & her daughter studied food science with Chefs Jose Andres & Ferran Adria. I wanted to order an Asian Chicken Salad (romaine, crispy wontons, almonds, carrots, onions, sesame vinaigrette), & POS system was a tad confusing because chicken is an add-on. So does that mean Asian "Chicken" Salad doesn't come with chicken since the description doesn't list chicken? When I came to pick-up my order, it was ready & I had to ask if the add-on meant extra chicken (yes), but when I opened the container, it was 1 serving, not a double. They refunded the surcharge, & I suggested to either revise the description & add "chicken," or the the add-on as "extra chicken"; it's been a year & no change but I have an understanding since it's been clarified to me. It was a good salad (their #2 most liked) but wasn't filling for me; while having a side of tots helped satisfy my hunger. I tried a couple bites before driving off, & they were perfectly cooked & with a crisp shell. The salad wasn't remarkable in any way, it could easily have been Rascal's with the exception of their sesame vinaigrette. I liked their concept & wanted to try Bites & Bashes again. Since I was busy in meetings, I used Uber Eats to place an order for my managers & self. However, I was notified the day of that my order was cancelled; I didn't check my messages until just before the delivery time because I was stuck in meetings. I called to inquire for the cancellation reason while they tried to fix the problem. BBC asked me to re-order but their system was down/offline. They would work to get online & text me when their system is online; no explanation for the cancellation, whether it's them or Uber Eats. Due to our tight schedule & their late delivery time table, I ended up going across the street to CoCo Ichibanya for our lunch meeting takeout. The cafe is small with counter regular & counter seating; it's not meant for big groups. The 1-pager menu is compact with 5 categories: appetizers, all day, salads, sandwiches, & entrees; with a separate breakfast burritos menu. Price points are moderate to expensive based on the serving size, not exactly a good value. Service is friendly & attentive for my takeout, but abysmal for delivery. Does/should that service ding fall on Bites & Bashes, Uber Eats, or both? I haven't had good delivery service at any restaurant, & I don't always have the luxury for pick-up... I like the cafe for its interesting menu but haven't had a chance to delve further due to this missed opportunity. Will be back when I have time for takeout. Lomita has some true hidden Gems and Bites & Bashes Cafe is def one of them. This was my first time here and I just live a few blocks away. It's such a cute little spot honestly I'm not sure why it took me so long. The inside isn't that big but there's a good amount of tables and side bar area's that you can sit. There's also outdoor seating and dog friendly. As you enter the ordering station is there along with the menu's and they take your order and give you a number and you go sit. The food is made to order so you wait a bit but it's DEF worth the wait. We got their coconut shrimp with dipping sauce and let me tell you they blew my mind, from Presentation to flavor and crunchiness it was all there and you really see the love that's put into these plates. I got their Breakfast Burrito and it was so Delicious and prolly the best breakfast burrito I've had to day. The tortilla was so thin you really got all the flavors as you take that first bite and love that they are tater tots instead of the usual potatoes other places use. Their salsa they add was delicious not spicy but flavorful. They also added a very fresh pico de gallo and that had me coughing cause it had fresh chiles but I found myself coming back for more. The owner & Head Chef Julie was the sweetest and came up to our table and asked us how the food was and commented how she takes pride in all her recipes and her ingredients that she grows locally in a family farm and that blew my mind. All the plates that have the fresh flowers they are edible and it's a wonderful touch. You see her passion in what she does and the effort and flavor and professionalism is there. I can't wait to be back and taste other items they have there along with their drinks and coffee's. It's a corner little place so parking will be in the residential area but they do have a small parking section but it fills up as well. I also love that they cater for parties and events. Overall Experience was a 10/10 if Yelp had more stars to give I'd give a SOLID TEN!! read more

The pancakes are really yummy with Ube syrup on top. Super filling, we couldn't eat them all. We also shared the Filipino burrito. The rice didn't seem super fresh today. A lot of people were waiting a long time for their orders. It's a really really busy on a Sunday and they made a few mistakes with our order but it's OK. Food is good. read more

Let me first say, the food is decent. Their burritos are great-- the spicy chilaquiles and KBBQ burritos are the best. Second time here. First time, we sat near the window and noticed all the finger prints on the window, like a sticky- fingered kid had been wiping their hands all over it. But we really loved the KBBQ burrito. So here we are again. This time, just like the first, window was STILL ALL SMUDGED, just like the last time over a MONTH ago! They always seem short handed and take a little too long to welcome you in. We and another customer stood there for a bit before anyone acknowledged us-- even though they were right next to the counter making coffee. My suggestion to the owners, please acknowledge people as soon as they come in. Let them know you'll be with them shortly. This will go a long way. Two other suggestions- ask if someone has been here before. Or have a sign that says "order here" so newcomers know to order at the counter before sitting. And lastly, please clear off the table and clean the windows. We cleared our own table before sitting down. Not so great. Good food and great place that has a lot of potential to be perfect.
