If you're looking for a cute cafe to grab a bite at and get some pastries, I would highly recommend checking Pinwheel out! It is in a big plaza with lots of businesses so the parking lot can be pretty congested but we did not have an issue finding a spot when we were there Friday morning around 11 AM. When you walk in you wait in line to order your pastries first and then drinks and any other food items at the cashier. They also have a self service ordering kiosk near the doorway. Service here was excellent and fast, all of our food came out within 10 minutes. We ordered the pistachio croissant to share which was scrumptious. It was perfectly flaky and soft at the same time. Inside, it had the perfect sweetness level of crushed pistachio. I am usually a big almond croissant girl but this definitely hit that itch. I will be trying their almond croissant next time. For drinks, we got the Spanish latte and the hazelnut latte. They were both good but didn't blow my socks off. I don't think I really tasted the hazelnut in my latte. For our mains, we got the prosciutto open face sandwich and the smoked salmon omelette. I know those aren't the official names, my bad . These both came with a side salad which you get to choose the dressing you want. There were three options... I only remember two: balsamic and Dijon. I tried the Dijon and it was tangy and creamy - which I loved! The omelette was delicious, I would order it again. The prosciutto sandwich was hard to eat because everything kept falling off and when I tried to knife and fork it, it still kept just falling apart. You can taste the quality of the prosciutto though. I probably wouldn't order it again purely on the difficulty of eating it. I also wish it came with a little more because if I did not eat some of my girlfriend's omelette and the croissant, I would not be full on only the prosciutto tart meal. I would definitely be back and hope to try more of their pastries next time - I was eyeing that pear almond tart.

I don't come to this bakery very often, but when I do I have a hard time deciding what to get because everything looks delicious. I stopped in today and picked up some shortbread cookies. Everything that I've had from this bakery has been yummy. Service is friendly. Thanks Pinwheel for sending me $5 to spend for my birthday!

Nice clean restaurant with walk up counter service. Display case of beautiful treats. It is hard to decide what to get-it all looks good. We didn't get the French onion soup but it appeared to be quite popular. Sandwiches were very fresh and delicious. Side salad is just mixed greens. Parking can be a challenge on weekends. We parked pretty far away since a Trader Joe's is nearby.

Very good. Brought dog since outside patio seating. French onion soup good. Sour dough bread great. Sandwiches fresh and yummy. Recommend

Met up with my niece for some catch up time.. first time here and I see this place all the time so I'm glad she suggested this place. Once you walk in you can see all the baked goods all displayed so aesthetically. The food was ok but the vibe was very relaxing and their staff were very friendly while we were there just talking for a few hours .

Having visited a few times, the most accurate way I can describe my experiences is "inconsistent". On a couple of visits, the food was fine and on others the food was terrible. The worst involved their croque madame, which isn't always available. I was excited to try it after it had been unavailable my first two visits, but very disappointed when they served me a sandwich that seemed like it had been left out overnight. The bread, the ham, the cheese, nothing was remotely fresh about it at all. Otherwise, their omelettes and sandwiches and coffee drinks have all been fine, simple and clean. The best dish was the French toast.

This is a nice cafe/bakery located in a busy shopping center. The pear and apple tarts were ok. Don't miss out on the quiche florentine; it has a savory, rich, cheesy egg custard filled with spinach and a flaky crust.

We haven't been here for years. To our surprise, the place has expanded and so has their choices! Delicious croque madame, French pastries, and coffee! Service it trés magnifique! Cozy atmosphere! IT IS A MUST FOR YOU TO TRY!!!!!

Broccoli and cheese quiche, quiche of the day

I stopped by a French inspired cafe called the Pinwheel Café and it was great! The service was welcoming from the moment we walked in. You can tell the team here truly cares about creating a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The almond croissant was incredible! It was light, flaky, and filled with just the right amount of almond filling. You could tell it came straight out of the oven. The quiche of the day (broccoli and cheese) was perfectly made, with a golden, buttery crust and a creamy, flavorful filling. I also had the French onion soup, which was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. We also tried the Spanish latte. It was smooth, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced. And for anyone who loves authentic French cuisine, they even offer escargot, which you don't often find in cafés. Overall, Pinwheel Café has excellent food, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. Can't wait to come back and try more of their pastries!

Turkey avocado croissant sandwich

My kids and I really enjoyed the food and the pastries at this location. I would give it 5 stars but it is a bit over priced. I understand that the quality and freshness of their products is superb, but my total was a bit shocking. My kids ate the morning croissant sandwich with bacon, eggs, and cheese, and I ate a turkey avocado croissant sandwich. The croissant is deliciously flakey and fresh. We also ordered a raspberry tart to share, and the ratio of cream, crust and raspberry is perfection. We ate it all in silence because it was so good. The service is pretty fast too. I will go back, but I will have to save up some of my pennies first.

Nordique Omelette with Ratatouille
Larry L.

Recently returned to Pinwheel Cafe Bakery for breakfast and was, unfortunately, somewhat disappointed. Food: I ordered a Nordique omelette, which the menu describes as an omelette with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, onion, lemon, and dill. I also upgraded my side to their ratatouille. The omelette was an American-style (versus French-style) omelette, shaped like a half-moon or taco and somewhat dense. Inside were slices of smoked salmon. I was hoping that the salmon would have been season with dill, but sadly, it was not. More sadly was the fact that the cream cheese, capers, onions, and dill were not integrated into the omelette in any way. Rather, they were simply set to the side. The cream cheese was hard to spread; the capers were hard to pick up; and the onion and dill were cut more to be garnishes than part of the omelette. Finally, the ratatouille (a vegetable stew of seasoned tomatoes, eggplant, onions, and zucchini) tasted okay but was very oily ... there was oil pooling at the bottom of the bowl. Service: The servers were friendly. Bottom Line: Okay, but disappointing when I consider my first visit.

I still love all the pastries but lately I've been coming for the French toast. It's the lightest, fluffiest bread and delicious with Nutella and berries. Surprisingly filling too

[Parking]: The bakery has a small private parking lot and I had no issue finding an available spot on a weekday. [Atmosphere]: The bakery has both indoor and outdoor tables. [Menu]: The #1 baked good to order here is the Almond Croissant, but they ran out of the regular almond croissant at 12:45 PM on Sunday during my first visit. I was pretty determined to get it so I came back the next day at 10 AM and was able to get one. They also offer mini versions of select croissants, quiche, sandwiches, salads, coffee, tea, etc. *** Quiche Lorraine (Madrange Parisian Ham, Emmental Swiss Cheese, Cage Free Organic Eggs Filling, and Chives - $10.95): The employee kindly warmed it up for me and it was the last one on Sunday afternoon. It had an amazing melt-in-your-mouth texture. Mini Almond Chocolate Croissant (Laminated Puff Pastry, French Isigny Butter, Almond Cream, Chocolate & Sliced Almond - $4.45): It was cold so didn't have a soft texture. The chocolate was a bit overpowering. Blueberry Madeleine (French Traditional Flour, French Isigny Butter, Blueberry Jam & Cake Free Organic Eggs - $4.25): A solid pastry. Mini Almond Croissant (Laminated Puff Pastry, French Isigny Butter, Almond Cream & Sliced Almond - $3.95): I liked it better than the almond chocolate croissant because it had molasses instead of chocolate (the molasses tasted less overpowering). *** I highly recommend Quiche Lorraine and Almond Croissant, but I have to admit these baked goods aren't exactly affordable. P.S. - The bakery has a rewards program ($5 off birthday reward).

I had more than enough points to redeem a free pastry reward, and since I was just at nearby Del…read moreAmo Fashion Center, I figured why not use one of my free pastry rewards at this Paris Baguette? So first things first, be aware that this Paris Baguette is actually inside Hannam Chain Supermarket at Village Del Amo on the southwest corner of Torrance and Hawthorne. I didn't know it at the time, so I circumnavigated the plaza, looking for Paris Baguette signage like I usually do for the other standalone locations. After stopping my car somewhere in the plaza, I had to double-check the location to be inside the Hannam Chain Supermarket, which I had just literally passed by minutes ago. D'oh! lol I hadn't even heard of Hannam Chain Supermarket, so I took some time to explore the store even though Paris Baguette is literally closest to the entrance. The overall selection of baked goods kind of disappointed me because it felt like there were fewer choices of pastries here compared to the other locations I've been to before. However, oddly enough, they had more selections available! I think it's because they have time stamps listed on each pastry so that the pastries are inside the display case for no more than 4 hours. I thought the pastries would have remained good at least until the end of the day, so to hear of their 4 hour shelf life was a bit surprising to me. For the record, I've been to several other Paris Baguettes before, but this was the first time I noticed these time stamps. Even though the variety of pastries was not as much compared to the other standalone locations, I still had a difficult time deciding which pastry to get! However, I noticed a new flavor of a supreme croissant I hadn't seen before: pink velvet. I've heard of red velvet, but not pink, and presuming that this is a seasonal offering for Valentine's Day, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to try one before that special day. They had other supreme croissant flavors like chocolate and salted caramel pretzel, but I'm sure those flavors will be offered for much longer than the pink velvet. I do remember trying a strawberry supreme croissant from the Cerritos location, so perhaps after Valentine's Day, that would take the place of the pink velvet. After grabbing one of two Pink Velvet Supreme Croissants left in the display case, I made my way around and to the register. Phone in hand, I had the Paris Baguette app pulled up to redeem my reward. Actually, a good part of me had thought that this location inside Hannam Chain wouldn't honor my reward because for Tous Les Jours, the locations inside Hmart wouldn't be eligible for earning points or redeeming rewards. Luckily, Paris Baguette is not Tous Les Jours, and I was able to redeem my reward with no trouble. The cashier who rang me up was pretty friendly as well. She placed my Pink Velvet Supreme Croissant in a small paper bag and wished me a good day. While there are a handful of tables inside the food hall portion of Hannam Chain, most were occupied by customers of other eateries, so I simply went outside to enjoy my free sweet treat. The pink velvet ruby chocolate that covered the top portion of the round croissant didn't have nearly as much flavor, though the Valentine's sprinkles on top did make for a nice touch at least. Also, the custard cream inside didn't taste like anything at all! It wasn't bad, but it makes me wonder how much more flavorful the salted caramel pretzel would have been. I'll be sure to get that on my next visit to a Paris Baguette! I got the croissant about 2.5 hours after they were prepared, so maybe they would have tasted better had I gone 2 hours earlier? Lastly, I'm kind of shocked that this is pretty much the only Paris Baguette location in the South Bay. With how expansive a city like Torrance is, you would think they'd have at least a second location elsewhere like in Hmart. Otherwise, the next closest location would be in Long Beach, which literally just opened at The Pike Outlets. Overall, it's not a bad Paris Baguette to go to, but if you live in the South Bay, you'd be better off downloading the 85C Bakery app over the Paris Baguette app as there are much more 85C locations in the area. Also, this Paris Baguette may not necessarily carry your favorite pastries here, so heed caution if you plan to go out of your way to visit this patisserie.

We also ordered two drinks: one matcha with matcha jelly, and the other almond milk with matcha jelly. The matcha itself was high quality and good tasting, with a really nice ice-to-matcha ratio, and the jelly had a soft, silky texture that wasn't overly sweet. Everything worked really well together. Being connected to Mitsuwa Market is a big plus. Review #908 2025-083…read moreOTM Club 11/20/22 - 11/26/22 (sold out, missed OTM redemption) Food Order: Melon Pan & Raisin Danish I originally came to Hamada Ya Bakery to redeem a comped Cream Puff via OTM Club, but it was late in the day, about an hour before closing so they were sold out & other baked goodies were limited. Since it's not technically an "off the menu" item, I was hoping the bakery would be flexible to substitute the cream puff with something of similar pricing -- nope. According to other reviewers, they often sell out by the afternoon so you need to stop by in the morning to get first pick. I was here with my LO so couldn't leave empty handed & perused the shelves for anything interesting. Just to be on the safe side, we picked a raisin danish (can't go wrong with that) & melon pan. Not sure if it's late in the day or what, but both were pretty stale tasting... I spritz both with a little water & dropped them in the convection oven, which help restore some of the danish's flaky exterior while warming the interior, the melon pan's crust was toasted & sort of melted, but made the interior fluffier & warm. The raisin danish was ok flavor-wise, while the melon pan lacked flavor (too mild; crust lacked sweetness). Hamada Ya Bakery is located in Mitsuwa Marketplace at Del Amo Fashion Center, just off to the right upon entry. While there's plenty of parking available, the spaces near the bakery/market are often full. The bakery is really small, & cannot accommodate 2 people in the cramped aisles. Moderate to slightly high price points for a Japanese bakery. I typically visit other Japanese bakeries in the South Bay, but if I happen to dine at the market's food court or shop in the market, I will browse the bakery for goodies. I'm hoping to try their popular pudding that I keep missing because I'm often here late in the day.
