Honestly, pinwheel is our favorite French inspired coffee/bistro shop. The food is always good and the pastries are always top tier.. you can't go wrong with any pasty. The cinnamon roll, (when available) is my wife's favorite. The apple turnover so far is my go to pastry but they have many options. The most important thing is that I don't feel overwhelmed by their options like some other bakeries. The staff is always incredibly friendly and patient with new customers who don't know how to order. For example if all you want is pastries just go up to the pastry counter and order, if u want food go to the cashier but if u want both order your pastries and then wait for the next cashier to order your food. The ambiance for the most part is always loud. It's not really quiet so don't expect a library in here at all lol. It's gets full especially on weekends. But other than that it's good spot to kick it for a little bit with your loved ones and enjoy a special treat. So with that said treat yourself.
I am currently on a restricted diet for health reasons so I was excited that they had the allergens listed for each product. HOWEVER, the man behind the counter said that the allergen signs are inaccurate. I cannot have dairy and I was excited to see no dairy listed for their tart but then the man said they all have dairy even if it's not listed under allergens. Isn't that kind of bad if someone has an allergic reaction?
A cute little café, located near Trader Joe's in the rolling Hill shopping plaza. This French bakery and Cafe has a lot of choices for your brunch and breakfast needs croissants are amazing. Come early if you really want what you are craving for cause they run out quickly. We came here today. My husband wanted a chocolate croissant by 11 o'clock they're all gone. That's just showing how good this place is for this pastry to go out so quick. They also have sandwiches salads, French toast, coffees, teas.
If you're looking for a cute cafe to grab a bite at and get some pastries, I would highly recommend checking Pinwheel out! It is in a big plaza with lots of businesses so the parking lot can be pretty congested but we did not have an issue finding a spot when we were there Friday morning around 11 AM. When you walk in you wait in line to order your pastries first and then drinks and any other food items at the cashier. They also have a self service ordering kiosk near the doorway. Service here was excellent and fast, all of our food came out within 10 minutes. We ordered the pistachio croissant to share which was scrumptious. It was perfectly flaky and soft at the same time. Inside, it had the perfect sweetness level of crushed pistachio. I am usually a big almond croissant girl but this definitely hit that itch. I will be trying their almond croissant next time. For drinks, we got the Spanish latte and the hazelnut latte. They were both good but didn't blow my socks off. I don't think I really tasted the hazelnut in my latte. For our mains, we got the prosciutto open face sandwich and the smoked salmon omelette. I know those aren't the official names, my bad . These both came with a side salad which you get to choose the dressing you want. There were three options... I only remember two: balsamic and Dijon. I tried the Dijon and it was tangy and creamy - which I loved! The omelette was delicious, I would order it again. The prosciutto sandwich was hard to eat because everything kept falling off and when I tried to knife and fork it, it still kept just falling apart. You can taste the quality of the prosciutto though. I probably wouldn't order it again purely on the difficulty of eating it. I also wish it came with a little more because if I did not eat some of my girlfriend's omelette and the croissant, I would not be full on only the prosciutto tart meal. I would definitely be back and hope to try more of their pastries next time - I was eyeing that pear almond tart.
I don't come to this bakery very often, but when I do I have a hard time deciding what to get because everything looks delicious. I stopped in today and picked up some shortbread cookies. Everything that I've had from this bakery has been yummy. Service is friendly. Thanks Pinwheel for sending me $5 to spend for my birthday!

Nice clean restaurant with walk up counter service. Display case of beautiful treats. It is hard to decide what to get-it all looks good. We didn't get the French onion soup but it appeared to be quite popular. Sandwiches were very fresh and delicious. Side salad is just mixed greens. Parking can be a challenge on weekends. We parked pretty far away since a Trader Joe's is nearby.
A delightful little French cafe that I never knew was here. Cozy, clean, fun and bright. And the food is wonderful. I had the prosciutto sandwich and my friend had the cinnamon roll. And the cinnamon roll was big and dripping with icing. And beautiful, the prosciutto was toasty. And all the ingredients, the arugula, the cheese, and of course the prosciutto was flavorful and wonderful. Can't say enough nice things about this place. Everything is made in house. Gallet the cashier, run me up, had a French accent and was so warm and kind and sweet. Quick service too! highly recommended can't wait to go back.
Having visited a few times, the most accurate way I can describe my experiences is "inconsistent". On a couple of visits, the food was fine and on others the food was terrible. The worst involved their croque madame, which isn't always available. I was excited to try it after it had been unavailable my first two visits, but very disappointed when they served me a sandwich that seemed like it had been left out overnight. The bread, the ham, the cheese, nothing was remotely fresh about it at all. Otherwise, their omelettes and sandwiches and coffee drinks have all been fine, simple and clean. The best dish was the French toast.

You can tell the team here truly cares about creating a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The almond croissant was incredible! It was light, flaky, and filled with just the right amount of almond filling. You could tell it came straight out of the oven. The quiche of the day (broccoli and cheese) was perfectly made, with a golden, buttery crust and a creamy, flavorful filling. I also had the French onion soup, which was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. We also tried the Spanish latte. It was smooth, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced. And for anyone who loves authentic French cuisine, they even offer escargot, which you don't often find in cafés. Overall, Pinwheel Café has excellent food, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. Can't wait to come back and try more of their pastries!
My kids and I really enjoyed the food and the pastries at this location. I would give it 5 stars but it is a bit over priced. I understand that the quality and freshness of their products is superb, but my total was a bit shocking. My kids ate the morning croissant sandwich with bacon, eggs, and cheese, and I ate a turkey avocado croissant sandwich. The croissant is deliciously flakey and fresh. We also ordered a raspberry tart to share, and the ratio of cream, crust and raspberry is perfection. We ate it all in silence because it was so good. The service is pretty fast too. I will go back, but I will have to save up some of my pennies first.

Met up with my niece for some catch up time.. first time here and I see this place all the time so I'm glad she suggested this place. Once you walk in you can see all the baked goods all displayed so aesthetically. The food was ok but the vibe was very relaxing and their staff were very friendly while we were there just talking for a few hours .
First time trying out this bakery. They offer so many different pastries and I wish I can buy them all. I got a chicken pesto to try and I don't remember the name of the other item. Both are well made and delicious. They have a beautiful patio as well for dine in. Service is kind of slow. read more
If you didn't know it was there, you'd never guess this charming little French bistro was tucked away in a shopping center right by Trader Joe's and Lunasia. Stepping into Pinwheel Bakery and Cafe honestly feels like you've been transported straight to a side street in Paris. The display cases are a total dream--everything looks like a work of art. We stopped by for a casual breakfast and tried a bit of everything: * The Croissants: Absolute perfection. They have those gorgeous, buttery layers and a flawless honeycomb interior. You can tell they don't skimp on the quality of the butter here. * The Palmier: Crispy, caramelized, and just the right amount of sweet. * Sourdough Bread: We took a loaf home and the crust-to-fluff ratio was spot on. Aside from the sweets, they have a solid savory menu with quiches and sandwiches that looked great. It's such a cozy, welcoming spot to grab a coffee and catch up with friends. it's been a year since my last review. i visited again yesterday and had a much better experience. staff was great--very sweet and helpful with recommendations and on top of cleaning tables and all that. i got the blueberry danish which was really good. lots of options and all the pastries looked good, will have to try more of the menu next time. ambiance was also good--there were plenty of people around but it's big inside with ample seating so was still able to get work done with my laptop. wifi was good too. read more
Phenomenal pastries! It's been a few years since I last tried Pinwheel Cafe Bakery and I can honestly say I don't know why it took me so long to come back. I went to this to spot for breakfast this past weekend and wow it was amazing! My friend and I decided to get savory and sweet treats. We got their Chicken Pesto Turnover ($6.90) and their Pistachio Croissant ($5.90). We first their Chicken Pesto Turnover. This turnover was delightful. The pesto flavor was on point and the chicken was so tender. I would definitely get this again. I didn't think anything could top that turnover but I was equally as amazed with the Pistachio Croissant. I love croissants and my usual go to croissant is an Almond Croissant but now Pistachio has won my heart. Pinwheel's Pistachio Croissant was packed with pistachios both inside and outside. The pistachio gave this flaky, buttery croissant a nice crunch. One of the best croissants I've ever had. I am such a fan and will be coming back very soon to try more of their pastries! read more
Recently returned to Pinwheel Cafe Bakery for breakfast and was, unfortunately, somewhat disappointed. Food: I ordered a Nordique omelette, which the menu describes as an omelette with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, onion, lemon, and dill. I also upgraded my side to their ratatouille. The omelette was an American-style (versus French-style) omelette, shaped like a half-moon or taco and somewhat dense. Inside were slices of smoked salmon. I was hoping that the salmon would have been season with dill, but sadly, it was not. More sadly was the fact that the cream cheese, capers, onions, and dill were not integrated into the omelette in any way. Rather, they were simply set to the side. The cream cheese was hard to spread; the capers were hard to pick up; and the onion and dill were cut more to be garnishes than part of the omelette. Finally, the ratatouille (a vegetable stew of seasoned tomatoes, eggplant, onions, and zucchini) tasted okay but was very oily ... there was oil pooling at the bottom of the bowl. Service: The servers were friendly. Bottom Line: Okay, but disappointing when I consider my first visit. read more

I always see a long line here when I pass by and finally was able to try it. I came here on a Friday morning and it was pretty packed but still easy to find a table and order fast. I ordered the Turkey on a Baguette and the sauce was really good. It is on the pricier side for a regular sandwich but it was still good. Would recommend if you're in the area and need a quick breakfast spot. read more
The pastries were fabulous. I FINALLY found a good cinnamon roll in the South Bay. My mocha was delicious, not too sweet. The ambience of the place is super cute, staff are friendly. I wanted to like the French onion soup, but the rosemary flavor was way too strong for me, I tasted more rosemary than onion. I will return and try out other things on the menu. read more
I have to update this review since its been years since my last visit and this time, I met up with a few ladies impromptu and had more time to actually enjoy a meal. The French Onion Soup is so on point and the accompanying baguette was perfection. I don't recall if the menu was as extensive before. For some reason, I thought it was more pastries-based but there are nice Toulouse French menu offerings. The place is definitely teeming with the local ladies who lunch. They closed at 3 and we didnt realize how long we were conversing but they were so nice and never kicked us out. I will definitely come back before i shop at Trader Joe's a few doors down. read more

Wanted to pick up some croissants for my Sunday coffee. Got to PCB around 10 am and it was quite busy. The croissant was crispy and flaky. Pretty pretty good. read more
We always see Pinwheel being busy for brunch so decided to check the place out! We ordered their veggie omelet and a simple ham and cheese sandwich. The omelet was not great... tasted as if they used fake eggs? The sandwich was okay, nothing special. Good thing we ordered a pistachio croissant. That was the only tasty thing. Maybe we ordered incorrect items or they are just busy due to its location. read more
Cute bakery and a nice place to chat with friends over a coffee and some bread. Service is fast. I got the jamon beurre which is just a ham and butter sandwich. Basic but strangely satisfying. The bread has a good level of crunch and the ingredients taste good together. I would probably go for something else on the menu next time though. Best French toast I will ever had. I can't wait to drive back to have some breakfast with a delish coffee pairing. The omelet was good just wished it had some kind of sauce drizzling on top. They so many selections of pastry and desserts for everyone's liking. Beautiful restaurant with a nice breezy covered patio. My Mom and I built up an appetite all morning with errands. When the hanger pangs kicked in, I did my diligent search on Yelp to find a dog friendly eatery (since we dragged the pup with us in these errands!) I wanted to try something new, something different, something that isn't normally in my usual list of eats. This one popped on top of my search and since I haven't had French eats for awhile, I thought I'd give 'em a try. It's tucked in a corner of a huge strip surrounded by tons of other stores, eateries and shops. It's a pretty cute place. Outdoor seating available so they certainly are pet friendly. As a first timer, I had to figure out how it worked. There is a line to put in orders. They take bakery orders first, but if you want to dine in, those orders are put through with the cashier. I settled Mom and pup outside and looked through the menu thoroughly. So many goodness I want to try all at once! It took a minute, but we finally narrowed it all down! ALASKAN TARTINE: I requested this with a French onion soup which was delicious. Just enough melted cheese on top and flavorful soup. The only snag? It's not hot enough. It was bordering on warm by the time I got it. The tartine, however, was AMAZING! Made to order, the smoked salmon was tasty. The radish added texture, the red onions and dill added color and taste, the capers added a bit of tang and the cream cheese balanced it all. The bread was thin and held on to all the toppings nicely. It matched nicely with my iced matcha latte. Highly recommending. My Mom had the nordique omelette which I had a couple of bites of and it, too, was delish! Side salad was fresh and served as a good palate cleanser. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 3.5. VALUE: 4. PARKING: Private lot shared with plenty others. Came through a weekday so it wasn't an issue. Weekends may be busy. OVERALL: 4.25. It is a bit of a drive from home, but very well worth it. I am absolutely returning - most likely dragging other people with me! read more
