    Crab Gratin

I've been to both the Tokyo and Artesia locations, and they've always been consistently great, so I had high expectations for the Torrance location. Happy to say it delivered. Had to order the staples--the mentai cream pasta and the uni pasta. Both were packed with flavor, and the portions were just right. We gobbled those up in 10 minutes. We also tried the crab gratin, which was perfectly cheesy and piping hot... a little *too* hot since I immediately burned my tongue. This is exactly what I mean when Im asking for noods.

Pasta E Pasta Allegro opened up in Torrance a couple months ago so go check it out if you love Japanese-style pasta. With other locations in DTLA & Cerritos, this place is a staple for Japanese-style Italian. With lots of creamy options like mental (cod roe) cream and uni pasta, you'll love all the umami flavors. Note that it's all noodles, that looks like angel hair pasta and there's no main entrees like chicken parm or anything like that but some of the pasta dishes like bolognese have big chunks of meat to satiate your protein needs. I liked the iced Earl grey tea as well.

Came here after work for dinner for my nieces bf graduation and passing his RT boards. We like to try different Japanese pastas and this place was a quick drive from work. The pasta was good but my wife's dish was delicious I was like should've ordered it lol. I had the fruti di mare which is the pasta with noddles and seafood in a garlic sauce, it was good but like I said my wife's was better which was the Mentai cream Japanese style pasta. Will definitely come back to try more pasta. Nice restaurant setup. We arrived at 6 pm waited about 20-30 minutes to be seated. Hostesses were very kind and the food came out fast!!

Omg! Why didn't I try this place sooner? For starters, everyone was so nice. Service was great! Food was delicious. I ordered the mentai cream Japanese style pasta and I really wanted to save some for leftovers but I ate that whole plate. If I was at home I would have licked the bowl clean. Ambiance was nice. There's limited seating and it was rather quite warm inside but other than that, overall experience was great! We waited about 20 mins and arrived around 5:40pm. I highly recommend this place.

Great, quick, and friendly service. Food was delicious. Each meal comes with free salad and wabread rolls. Will return again sometime.

Came back with the kiddies because we liked the pasta so much! Service was quick and they were very friendly and attentive, like the last time. Great place with lots of seating. We decided to have the beef ragu for the kids, carbonara for the hubby and mentai for me. I have to say the mental was really good. Pasta cooked perfectly...again! Sauce was nice and creamy and kind of spicy how I like. Kids and hubby also enjoyed their pasta. Will be back again!

Such a lovely experience! I used to frequent the Cerritos location until this place opened up! I always get the Uni Pasta and this place always delivers. The pasta is cooked very well and is topped with a rich uni infused sauce and fresh uni for garnish. The staff is respectful and accommodating as always. The tables and cutlery were clean, as well as the floors. They do takeout as well if you're looking to enjoy their food at home.

absolutely in love with every visit we've had at the little tokyo location so of course i was so excited that one opened up closer. we both ordered our favorite dish, the mentai cream pasta and it was delicious. although we found that our experiences in little tokyo were more flavorful, we still enjoyed it. the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente and the portion was very great. it made amazing leftovers the following day. i love that they start you off with a salad and bread to pair with your meal. the service was exceptional as well, can't wait to come back.

I've wanted to try Pasta E Pasta in Little Tokyo for several years--I happened to be in the South Bay and remembered that they had expanded down here, so finally got to have a meal. This location is on the smaller size, but nothing felt too tight or packed. We were seated immediately around 1PM on a Friday and got our food within around 20 minutes. Everything was fresh and very clearly cooked to order (I did think a few leaves on the salad were a bit wilty but it didn't bother me too much). The food was delicious! I ordered the ragu and thought it was just so rich and hearty, and exactly what I was looking for in a comfort meal. The beef pieces were super flavorful and tender. The portion was huge too! My husband got their famous uni pasta and also loved it. He would recommend it to any uni fans. All dishes come with a side salad and piece of bread. The pasta dishes are on the pricier side ($20-$30 per dish) but really are delicious and extremely filling--we saw several people ask for to go boxes. I think this place is perfect for when you're in the mood for wafu pasta.

Imagine my sheer joy when Pasta E Pasta decided to expand to Torrance. For those who don't know, Pasta E Pasta is probably one of the best Japanese pasta places out there. Eat here before it gets too popular. Located next to Tokyo Central on PCH, you can check in and shop next door if the line's too long. We were fortunately seated within 5 minutes despite all the tables being full. Anyway, Uni pasta is classically good, and the creaminess of the sauce isn't overpowering. This is a crowd favorite for good reason. My wife and I also shared a salmon spinach cream pasta which was creamier and heavier but still pretty good! My parents got a seafood pasta and tuna tomato sauce like pasta which both looked pretty good. So in case you don't know, you gotta rotate through the menu to experience all the deliciousness Pasta E Pasta has to offer. Everything is cooked well and seasoned well and sauced well, I have zero complaints. So if you can't go to Pasta E Pasta in Little Tokyo or Cerritos, then try it out in Torrance, it's just as good!

Very good pasta. It looks like they use Barilla pasta. I got the carbonara and loved it. Super creamy. My husband ordered the ragu but got the bolognese instead. The waiter wrote down the wrong order but they fixed it right away and let us keep the bolognese. My husband liked the ragu way better as he didn't like the eggplant in the bolognese. We came on a Friday before 6 and was able to get seated right away. But after 6pm it got busy quick! Place is kinda small so I say groups of 4 or less is probably best.

Nothing but Perfection at pasta e pasta, and I don't say this lightly. Move over spoon house, move over unico tokyo pasta, a new king of Japanese pasta is in town. It's a small store in a trip mall next to the tokyo central. Parking is very easy to find. Seats are limited so reserve or get here early, or you can expect a 30 minute or more depending on how many people are in front of you. It's a small space so not too suited for parties over 8. Service was impeccable and staff members were very kind. Food was hot and out quickly. But the best part really is the level of the food. I think a bad pasta leaves you feeling fat and bloated. And though these pastas surely have plenty of oil and cheese in them, the flavors are balanced so well and it captures you in the first bite. We got the crab gratin, seafood pasta, bolognese, and mentai cream pasta. The seafood gratin was nutty and had plenty of umami. The parsley on top gave the extra freshness. Despite so much cheese in this dish I didn't think it was heavy at all because of the nuttiness of the roasted breadcrumbs. Perfect dish. Mentai cream pasta was a little spicy, very creamy and well seasoned. 10/10 no notes. Bolognese had lots of meat, slightly sweet tomato sauce from the San marzano tomatoes. 10/10 no notes. The seafood pasta was also great. Seafood was tender. All pastas came at the same perfect al dente doneness. Really, if you're coming here the question isn't what's good, it's what you're in the mood for because everything will be to spec and more.

Pasta E Pasta is now in the South Bay! This restaurant specializes in Italian style pasta with a Japanese twist. Being a fan of Japanese spaghetti, I was so happy to see this spot open in Torrance yesterday! They are currently in their soft opening phase but already serving many of their classic dishes such as Uni Pasta, Mentai Cream Japanese Style Pasta, Beef Ragu Sauce Spaghetti and Carbonara. Pasta prices range from $18 to $25. All of their pastas are served with bread and salad. For my first visit, I got Carbonara to-go. I was pleasantly surprised that they included the salad and bread roll with my to-go order. The Carbonara serving was generous with several strips of bacon. I really enjoyed the flavor of the carbonara. The egg cream sauce was luscious and rich. The bacon gave a nice savory touch and it was just right, not too salty, not too bland. This pasta was absolutely satisfying! I am looking forward to trying their dishes here. Their Bacon and Mushrooms Japanese style sauce and Beef Ragu Sauce spaghetti are calling my name ;). I will be back soon!

The private booths alone made me feel like I was signing a secret business deal, except the only thing I was negotiating was how much more food I could fit into my stomach. Every dish came out looking like it had been through a glow‑up montage. So delicious! * Unagi -- Melted in my mouth like it had a personal vendetta against being solid. Sweet, buttery, and dangerously addictive. * Katsu -- Crispy enough to be heard across the booth. If this dish had a crunchy Japanese category, this would be the headliner. * Spicy tuna -- The perfect balance of heat and flavor. Not "call the fire department" spicy, but definitely "I see you trying to impress me" spicy. * Seared tuna, Elegant, silky, and so fresh it probably had plans later. * Uni pasta, Listen... this dish is a commitment. Creamy, ocean‑kissed, and luxurious. It's the kind of pasta that makes you sit back and reevaluate your life choices, in a good way. * Sake - WOW ...My delicious sake was smooth, floral, and paired with everything like it had studied my taste buds in advance. The staff here operate with polite ninja efficiency. They appear, refill, deliver, and disappear before you can even say "arigato." Not rushed, not pushy, just clean, respectful Japanese hospitality that makes you feel taken care of. "Always remember the energy you give....is the energy you get in return!" The private booths are the star of the show. Cozy, warm lighting, and enough privacy to talk chisme without worrying about the table next to you judging your life choices. It's intimate without being cramped, like a little wooden cocoon of comfort. Kagura is one of those Torrance gems that hits every category: authentic food, quiet comfort, top‑tier service, and dishes that make you want to come back before you've even left the parking lot, oh and let me remind you how small that parking lot is, be prepared. If you're into Japanese cuisine that feels both homey and elevated, this is your spot. Living life one bite at a time...go and enjoy yourself! Miguel C.

The food highlights were easily the gobo chips and the skewers. The gobo chips arrived as an impressive, light-as-air mound dusted with seaweed seasoning... super crisp, savory, and addictively easy to snack on. The pork and wagyu skewers were masterfully executed as well, coming off the grill tender, juicy, and packed with rich, smoky flavor. The toasted eihire (stingray/filefish) was another great traditional touch, perfectly chewy and ideal for dipping in the spiced Japanese mayo my favorite.. On the flip side, a few dishes lacked the depth I was hoping for. The chicken karaage was fried well, but the flavor itself was a bit bland and needed more seasoning or marination and soft. The pressed rice rolls also fell flat, particularly the mentaiko roll.. it felt skimpy on the cod roe, and because the mentaiko seemed cooked through, it missed that fresh, raw texture and punchy brine that makes the dish shine. As for the space, it's quite dark, compact, and packed tightly with tables, which makes it feel a bit cramped when it's busy. However, seeing the dining room constantly full tells me that their best dishes keep people coming back. While there were some inconsistencies in taste, the highlights made it a solid experience, and I'm looking forward to returning to try more of the menu and updating my score!

Some of it was surprisingly disappointing. The grilled lobster with yuzu miso and kinome was completely overcooked, dry and buried under too much sauce. The grilled yellowtail suffered from the same problem: dry, overcooked and lacking the care you would expect from a restaurant presenting a seasonal multi course menu at this price point. The larger issue was organization. Dishes constantly arrived with servers asking, "Who ordered this?" or "Who has the udon?" The dining room felt strangely disconnected from the kitchen. Food runners seemed unsure where dishes belonged, which created confusion throughout the meal. Then things really went sideways. Trying to be respectful, I asked that my parents be served first. Everyone eventually received their meals and continued eating. The problem was that my Ise Course never arrived in sequence. My family finished their meals. My children finished. My parents finished. My sister finished. And on my birthday, I sat there alone waiting for several missing courses while everyone else watched. A seasonal set menu is supposed to feel paced and intentional. Instead, it felt forgotten. Arthur again stepped in and spoke with management. The restaurant offered complimentary desserts, which was appreciated, although somewhat awkward because my meal was still arriving while everyone else was already moving on to dessert. What happened next genuinely surprised me. When the bill arrived, management returned and asked whether we would be willing to authorize an additional charge so gratuity could be increased from 18% to 20% because of the size of the party. After the heat, the delays, the confusion, the overcooked centerpiece dishes, the missed pacing and spending a birthday meal eating alone after everyone else had finished, it felt like the wrong conversation to be having. I don't enjoy writing reviews like this because there is clearly talent in the building and Arthur deserves recognition for how hard he worked. But hospitality is ultimately about making people feel cared for. On this visit, despite a beautiful room and some good food, that never happened.
