What a great experience! Great service, great food, and a wonderful Japanese vibe. Everything was tasty. I loved the salads, the Karaage was outstanding, the fried tofu was okay, and the suminomo was good. The hand-rolls were awesome! The various dressings and toppings were really good. The nori wrap was crunchy and brought a lot of flavor. The fish was fresh and flavorful. For desert, we chose the Sweet Potato Brulee. It was perfect and the ice cream was very high quality. Our server was from Japan and very hospitable and helpful. All in all perfect lunch!

We went on a Friday afternoon around 4:30 pm. It was empty at the time and they asked if we had a reservation. We did NOT have a reservation but they still let us sit down. They offered us free beer because of the World Cup games, but we declined because we dont drink. But it was a nice of them to offer. We got a bunch of handrolls. You can get double portion rice (for free) if you think the portion is too small which I did. Everything you see on the menu is just one piece, so it can get pricey if you eat a lot. The seaweed wrapper is so crunchy! I love it. The fish quality is decent but not too fatty. The sauces and wasabi makes up for the lack of fish fat, so it is still flavorful with every bite. Service was very quick, probably because it was practically empty at the time we went. The food came within 5 minutes of us ordering. Friendly waiter. Clean bathroom. Bathroom has 1 women's only and 1 family neutral (inside has a urinal) bathroom, so I'm guessing this is just a retrofitted men's bathroom. World Cup decorations everywhere at the time of writing this. Overall great spot to eat delicious handrolls.

This restaurant is very cozy and fun to visit. I loved the handrolls. The fish were fresh and tasty. I loved their wasabi. The miso soup was delicious. I got the 3 hand rolls for $18 and it came with a miso soup and house salad. I tried their dessert, I have no idea what that was. I have never experienced a dessert like that but it was yummy. I chose the lemon flavor. They also have strawberry and matcha. The staff were friendly and nice. The restaurant was very clean and inviting.

My new favorite handroll place! Such a cute small shop. Parking was easy and free, got sat immediately. Service was absolutely outstanding, we were very well taken care of. They even opened the door for us as we exited. Our food came quickly and tasted fresh and amazing. We loved all 6 handrolls we ordered. Our recommendations are the eel + tamago and the snow crab + spicy mayo. I highly recommend adding double rice to your handrolls (it's free!) We also ordered the sweet potato brulee which was the best dessert I've had in a long time. It was not too sweet and very light/refreshing tasting. We will absolutely be returning! Can't wait to come back and try more.

Cute little restaurant located in Torrance! We went there dinner time on a Wednesday and got seated right away. We ordered 9different hand rolls, grilled mackerel and chicken Karaage. The mackerel was very good! There was no fishy scent to it. The chicken Karaage was alright... the texture was as if it was air fried? Which is fine because it made it less oily? The handrolls were pretty decent. Overall the food was good but we thought it was pretty pricey. Didn't really fill us up. From the looks on their menus, their lunch special seemed like a better deal than coming in for dinner. Staff there were attentive and nice

Came to Oh Banzai for handrolls. Each handroll costs between $5.80 to $20, depending on the ingredients you choose. The lower end will cover the basic tuna/salmon handrolls and the top end covers uni, wagyu, scallop, caviar, or a combination of these. The shop has counter seating and a few tables. They give you an option of a single or double serving for your handrolls. We opted for a double portion of rice as it was filling; however, the ratio of rice to fish could be more enjoyable for a single portion of rice. Quality of the handrolls was good, service was friendly enough, flavor combinations felt pretty authentic. This said, don't expect huge flavor bombs here. When you get ponzu + daikon, or chili crisp topping your fish, it's going to be understated so that it doesn't overpower your fish and rice. My favorite handroll was the wagyu handroll with "garlic salt sauce". Didn't have much to report about the other handrolls that I ordered. Note that they serve all of your handrolls at once. If you want to take your time, maybe order a beer/sake and consider ordering 2-3 rolls at a time, so that your seaweed doesn't get soggy or cold. In Southern California we are lucky to have several options for handrolls, and this is a decent one for the South Bay; however, I still prefer the experiences at Kazunori or ROL in LA and OC counties.

I came here twice this week due to an amazing deal they had. They were giving out 1 free roll per person. I also came here maybe about a month ago and absolutely loved it! I've had multiple rolls at this point and have not been disappointed once. My favorite rolls always include the scallops but all their toppings on their rolls are so good too! Can't wait to come back!

I initially ordered 3 hand rolls, since I'm notorious for not finishing my food, but I ended up surprising everyone by ordering 2 more! I couldn't help myself, the hand rolls were so delicious! My favorite one was the salmon chili oil! I ordered 2 of those and tried other hand rolls that were also delicious! I enjoyed the Wagyu carpaccio, the touch of lemon makes it even more delicious. The tofu cheese was surprisingly pleasant with the wasabi. It didn't make sense, but when I had it the flavors were amazing together. It's not actual cheese, but tastes like it and has the texture of it. Highly recommend the Sakura lemonade, so good! The waitresses we had were courteous and didn't judge me for adding more rolls when everyone else was done eating, so I really appreciate the no judgement vibes. :) Ambience reminded me of Japan! Good amount of space with at least 5+ tables.

I randomly stopped by this place because I was in the area and another sushi spot was closing, and wow -I'm so glad I did. This place turned out to be an absolute gem and is now one of my new favorite sushi spots. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. Every bite felt like an explosion of flavor. Honestly, everything I ordered was amazing nothing was even close to mediocre. I loved the generous portion sizes, & also loved the garnishes they paired with the fish on each hand roll; they really complemented the flavors perfectly. I ordered their sake flight, which was solid, and ended up getting six hand rolls, bluefin tuna, salmon, rockfish, scallop, and I also tried my friend's snow crab roll. I'm pretty sure they use real snow crab because that one was especially delicious. After 10pm they serve a mini truffle ramen, and wow that dish was surprisingly good too. Another thing I appreciated is that they offer a free double portion of rice on the hand rolls, which is a nice touch. Service overall was good one of the girls was just okay, but nothing that took away from the experience. The ambiance was really nice and super clean, and it would definitely make a great date spot.

I've been wanting to try this place forever but it's been difficult for me to make the trip since they opened. Finally I was able to come during Dine L.A. week. The location of this restaurant is in a very small and overcrowded plaza this multiple restaurants and a bank. Parking here is insufferable to say the least. I drove around the lot 3 times and ended up across the Main Street on the road and walked over. The restaurant itself is also fairly small. And it gets packed very quickly. I got lucky to be seated right away but the crowds came right after and the wait looked long. I got a bunch of different hand rolls, chicken skin appetizer, some drinks. The server also gave my party free seaweed paste to take home to eat with like noodles. We tried that at home and it was actually delicious. All the food there was fresh and filling. I definitely want to come back and try their happy hour where they have a special for 3 hand rolls for $18 or 5 for $26

The Ocean Gems Tartare must try. 10/10

A true Japanese owned business. Great quality and prepared with Japanese artistry. High end selections to standard handroll's. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with other Japanese food businesses. The best deal is during lunch. They offer 3 & 5 Handroll sets which comes with a chefs choice appetizer and miso soup. They offer many Japanese small plates and salads. We ordered the Ocean Gems Tartare and it was so good. With Negitoro, Uni, Ikura, caviar, and truffle with some crispy nori from Japan. I will definitely return and I will time it to come back during the lunch special menu.

Dine LA 2026 Friday 1/30/2026 After work, heading home - spur of the moment decision to head into Gardena to try Oh Banzai. Made a reservation while driving down just in case it was busy. It wasn't. But it picked up by the time I was leaving. For starters, located on the corner of 182nd and S Western. Free parking lot but know that when that plaza picks up, parking can be challenging. My res was at 5:15. Parking lot was practically empty. I parked right in front. Seated immediately at the bar. Small place. Bar seating along with some tables. I didn't count but just know if you have a large party, better call ahead and know it'll be tight. Small dining area made for pretty good service. All I had to do was look at the servers (team of 2) and there were right there. Food was brought out quickly and timed pretty well so I wasn't sitting there with a bunch of different dishes. I opted for the DineLA menu plus a couple of appetizers and a large beer. See pics. I'll start with the handrolls. Crispy Nori. Fish, clean and fresh. Mix of ingredients complimented each other - nothing overpowering. Enjoyed all the rolls and would order each one again without hesitation. The simmered beef was a good but not a standout for me. It may have been if it were served with rice. Otherwise, it was like a bowl of soup with beef but not quite soup. Keep in mind, it's a preference thing. As for the appetizers, liked the seasoned quail eggs but really loved the sunomono with scallops and shrimp. Seasoned quail eggs taste for me didn't align with the rest of dinner. But that was on me. I wanted them because I hadn't had them in a while. I knew better but I didn't care. The stomach gets what it wants. Finished it off with Zenzai. Sweet Azuki Beans and Rice Flour Dumplings. Light and a perfect way to cap dinner and the work week.

Quick handroll fix after a late night workout. Really glad this place is open late - there's not too many options so happy to have some pretty good food later in the evening. Ordered a few handrolls - was easy eats and no frills. One thing to note - the rice portions are different for lunch vs dinner - dinner is typically a bit less I think. They would add more rice on request though. Will be back!

There does not appear to be any system of communication between the two areas such that the protein is held under the heat lamp area until the other person adds the side dish (fries, coleslaw, etc) to complete the order. To make things even more chaotic, the staff does not consistently call out numbers when to food is ready for pickup. We arrived around 7:30-7:45 PM without a reservation and were seated within about 15 minutes. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and we decided to sit inside. The atmosphere was nice, and both our waitress and waiter were friendly and helpful. Overall, I thought the service was great. For drinks, I ordered the Karate Kid, upgraded with the handcrafted ice cube and smoked, and the White Lotus. The Karate Kid was excellent--very smooth and well balanced, and definitely my favorite of the 2. Unfortunately, the White Lotus was pretty underwhelming. It tasted like a watered-down sour drink, and I could barely taste the alcohol. We started with the Peruvian scallops and BBQ oysters. The scallops were one of the highlights of the night. They were served with a mango cube in each, which added a refreshing sweetness that paired surprisingly well with the scallops. The BBQ oysters, on the other hand, weren't really for me. The sauce and seasoning overpowered the natural flavor of the oysters, and I personally prefer preparations that allow the oyster itself to be the star. For our entrees, we ordered the short rib pappardelle, king crab roll, and New York strip. The short rib pappardelle was easily my favorite dish of the night. The short rib was incredibly tender, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were rich without being overwhelming. Everything complemented each other really well. The New York strip was slightly more cooked than I would have preferred and a little salty, but it was still enjoyable. The king crab roll was decent, although I found it somewhat bland and wished it had a little more flavor. Overall, I had a really enjoyable experience. There were a few hits and misses, but the dishes that stood out were excellent, the service was great, and I thought the pricing was very reasonable for the overall experience. I would definitely come back and try more of the menu.

We ordered a round of drinks -Negroni-9.5/10 item ($16.00) -Smoked Old Fashioned-9.0/10 ($21.00) -Perfect Margarita-9.0/10 ($17.00) For our dinner we started out with a few appetizers. -Wagyu Dumplings-10/10 item ($24.00) -Crab Cake-8.5/10 item ($31.00) -Truffle Mac N Cheese 8.0/10 item ($19.00) -Lobster Mashed Potatoes 9.75/10 item ($28.00) For our main course, three of us went with the 22-ounce Ribeye ($79.00) and my mother went with Filet Scampi ($73.00) I can honestly say my ribeye was cooked to perfection-seasoned to perfection and truly was art on my plate-I'd say it is in contention with Peter Luger's as the best steak I've had in 2026. My favorite appetizer easily was the Wagyu Dumplings-I've never quite had a flavor so unique-I really enjoyed it thoroughly. For dessert we shared a crème brûlée ($15.00) and they gave us a complimentary bananas foster for my sister's birthday. I truly enjoyed the bananas foster-not a dish I usually have,so being able to have this was a true treat. In closing. our visit could not have been more perfect. The combination of high level service, high quality food, and perfect ambience truly elevated my sister's birthday to the highest of levels.
