The Ocean Gems Tartare must try. 10/10
    Rangie T.

A true Japanese owned business. Great quality and prepared with Japanese artistry. High end selections to standard handroll's. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with other Japanese food businesses. The best deal is during lunch. They offer 3 & 5 Handroll sets which comes with a chefs choice appetizer and miso soup. They offer many Japanese small plates and salads. We ordered the Ocean Gems Tartare and it was so good. With Negitoro, Uni, Ikura, caviar, and truffle with some crispy nori from Japan. I will definitely return and I will time it to come back during the lunch special menu.

Came to Oh Banzai for handrolls. Each handroll costs between $5.80 to $20, depending on the ingredients you choose. The lower end will cover the basic tuna/salmon handrolls and the top end covers uni, wagyu, scallop, caviar, or a combination of these. The shop has counter seating and a few tables. They give you an option of a single or double serving for your handrolls. We opted for a double portion of rice as it was filling; however, the ratio of rice to fish could be more enjoyable for a single portion of rice. Quality of the handrolls was good, service was friendly enough, flavor combinations felt pretty authentic. This said, don't expect huge flavor bombs here. When you get ponzu + daikon, or chili crisp topping your fish, it's going to be understated so that it doesn't overpower your fish and rice. My favorite handroll was the wagyu handroll with "garlic salt sauce". Didn't have much to report about the other handrolls that I ordered. Note that they serve all of your handrolls at once. If you want to take your time, maybe order a beer/sake and consider ordering 2-3 rolls at a time, so that your seaweed doesn't get soggy or cold. In Southern California we are lucky to have several options for handrolls, and this is a decent one for the South Bay; however, I still prefer the experiences at Kazunori or ROL in LA and OC counties.

I initially ordered 3 hand rolls, since I'm notorious for not finishing my food, but I ended up surprising everyone by ordering 2 more! I couldn't help myself, the hand rolls were so delicious! My favorite one was the salmon chili oil! I ordered 2 of those and tried other hand rolls that were also delicious! I enjoyed the Wagyu carpaccio, the touch of lemon makes it even more delicious. The tofu cheese was surprisingly pleasant with the wasabi. It didn't make sense, but when I had it the flavors were amazing together. It's not actual cheese, but tastes like it and has the texture of it. Highly recommend the Sakura lemonade, so good! The waitresses we had were courteous and didn't judge me for adding more rolls when everyone else was done eating, so I really appreciate the no judgement vibes. :) Ambience reminded me of Japan! Good amount of space with at least 5+ tables.

I came here twice this week due to an amazing deal they had. They were giving out 1 free roll per person. I also came here maybe about a month ago and absolutely loved it! I've had multiple rolls at this point and have not been disappointed once. My favorite rolls always include the scallops but all their toppings on their rolls are so good too! Can't wait to come back!

I randomly stopped by this place because I was in the area and another sushi spot was closing, and wow -I'm so glad I did. This place turned out to be an absolute gem and is now one of my new favorite sushi spots. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. Every bite felt like an explosion of flavor. Honestly, everything I ordered was amazing nothing was even close to mediocre. I loved the generous portion sizes, & also loved the garnishes they paired with the fish on each hand roll; they really complemented the flavors perfectly. I ordered their sake flight, which was solid, and ended up getting six hand rolls, bluefin tuna, salmon, rockfish, scallop, and I also tried my friend's snow crab roll. I'm pretty sure they use real snow crab because that one was especially delicious. After 10pm they serve a mini truffle ramen, and wow that dish was surprisingly good too. Another thing I appreciated is that they offer a free double portion of rice on the hand rolls, which is a nice touch. Service overall was good one of the girls was just okay, but nothing that took away from the experience. The ambiance was really nice and super clean, and it would definitely make a great date spot.

I've been wanting to try this place forever but it's been difficult for me to make the trip since they opened. Finally I was able to come during Dine L.A. week. The location of this restaurant is in a very small and overcrowded plaza this multiple restaurants and a bank. Parking here is insufferable to say the least. I drove around the lot 3 times and ended up across the Main Street on the road and walked over. The restaurant itself is also fairly small. And it gets packed very quickly. I got lucky to be seated right away but the crowds came right after and the wait looked long. I got a bunch of different hand rolls, chicken skin appetizer, some drinks. The server also gave my party free seaweed paste to take home to eat with like noodles. We tried that at home and it was actually delicious. All the food there was fresh and filling. I definitely want to come back and try their happy hour where they have a special for 3 hand rolls for $18 or 5 for $26

Dine LA 2026 Friday 1/30/2026 After work, heading home - spur of the moment decision to head into Gardena to try Oh Banzai. Made a reservation while driving down just in case it was busy. It wasn't. But it picked up by the time I was leaving. For starters, located on the corner of 182nd and S Western. Free parking lot but know that when that plaza picks up, parking can be challenging. My res was at 5:15. Parking lot was practically empty. I parked right in front. Seated immediately at the bar. Small place. Bar seating along with some tables. I didn't count but just know if you have a large party, better call ahead and know it'll be tight. Small dining area made for pretty good service. All I had to do was look at the servers (team of 2) and there were right there. Food was brought out quickly and timed pretty well so I wasn't sitting there with a bunch of different dishes. I opted for the DineLA menu plus a couple of appetizers and a large beer. See pics. I'll start with the handrolls. Crispy Nori. Fish, clean and fresh. Mix of ingredients complimented each other - nothing overpowering. Enjoyed all the rolls and would order each one again without hesitation. The simmered beef was a good but not a standout for me. It may have been if it were served with rice. Otherwise, it was like a bowl of soup with beef but not quite soup. Keep in mind, it's a preference thing. As for the appetizers, liked the seasoned quail eggs but really loved the sunomono with scallops and shrimp. Seasoned quail eggs taste for me didn't align with the rest of dinner. But that was on me. I wanted them because I hadn't had them in a while. I knew better but I didn't care. The stomach gets what it wants. Finished it off with Zenzai. Sweet Azuki Beans and Rice Flour Dumplings. Light and a perfect way to cap dinner and the work week.

Quick handroll fix after a late night workout. Really glad this place is open late - there's not too many options so happy to have some pretty good food later in the evening. Ordered a few handrolls - was easy eats and no frills. One thing to note - the rice portions are different for lunch vs dinner - dinner is typically a bit less I think. They would add more rice on request though. Will be back!

Popped into this restaurant for lunch over the weekend with the wife. She suggested it after seeing some positive reviews on Yelp. I came here with very low expectations since I've never been a fan of hand rolls. I mean, it's a hand roll. How great could it be right? Well, spoiler alert, I left with a newfound appreciation for hand rolls. From the menu, I ordered the 5 pcs set which comes with 5 hand rolls (you get to choose the type of hand rolls you want from a list of options), a small dish of green veggies, and miso soup. For my rolls, I ordered the following; -Tuna + Kizomu Wasabi -Negi-Toro -Spicy Tuna -Onion Crunchy Chili Oil Salmon -Grated Daikon Ponzu Snow Crab I thoroughly enjoyed every roll. Each roll had fresh fish/meat on them, and the toppings paired perfectly with each of the main ingredients. Note: It looks like a lot of food when you get the rolls, but they're surprisingly light and not filling at all. You may end ordering extra rolls! For my drink, I ordered the Pineapple Koso Enzyme Drink. At first, I thought it tasted funny. Then it started to grow on me as I took more and more sips. It's very refreshing and a welcome change from your typical fruit drink. Finally, for dessert, I ordered their cake of the day which was a roll cake topped with chestnuts. Actually, my wife and I both did. The server told us that they get the cakes from the Bonjour bakery a few doors down in the same strip mall the restaurant is located. I think the restaurant did jazz the cakes up a bit before serving them to us. We enjoyed the cake so much that we stopped by the bakery after we ate at this restaurant. Unfortunately, most of their cakes were sold out by the time we got there. Anyway, I have to highlight the service at this restaurant. It's top notch. Every employee, not just our server, was pleasant. They created a welcoming environment. Also, the food and drinks came out very fast. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant and plan to come back very soon. This is one of those places I can imagine coming back to on a regular basis. I highly recommend you give this place a try. It converted me into a lover of hand rolls.

Based on social media and other Yelp reviews, I thought this would be better. Quite pricey for the amount of food, and size of fish is small. What really threw me off was the yuzu jelly they use in some of their hand rolls. The texture was not it for me. The chicken wings were also way overpriced and not seasoned at all. Service was good and friendly, but I'd probably go elsewhere unfortunately.

Solid spot for some hand rolls. We ordered several appetizers to try, our favorite being the ocean gem tartar which was one of their new items. All their rolls were good except the chili crisp salmon, the salmon was really chewy. Everything else was fresh, flavors were great. The service was pretty good, food came out at a decent pace.

The spicy edamame is a must order! The only roll I didn't like was the salmon one. It was a bit too bland for me. Other than that, all the other rolls were tasty, and two of them had a really interesting sauce that elevated the rolls. good amount of seating inside and sufficient parking inside. Staff was quick and friendly. Well lit and not too noisy.

I've lived close by for years and I gotta say, after coming to Quality Seafood twice (once in Nov…read more '25 and in March '26), I will definitely stop taking this South Bay gem for granted. I've only had the pleasure of having the following items below, but I'll be back in the coming years to try more. - Calamari [7.7/10]: regardless of what size you order, the portion is generous. This place doesn't overdue it with the batter and lets the flavor the fresh squid shine - which I adore. Only giving this dish its rating because there are a few Italian spots in Torrance that have my heart when it comes to the best calamari. - Fish Tacos [8.5/10]: Every bite gives a nice crunch of both batter and fish. I've had unpleasant experiences where I've had pockets of crispy batter, here the fish tacos are so great it actually doesn't need much support from lemon and/or tartar sauce. Be sure to order a couple of these bad boys during happy hour for $5 each. - Clam Chowder [8.3/10]: This place hits the mark on the texture of a classic chowder. Admittedly my cup could have used a touch of salt. I would have liked a bigger portion for what I paid for, but if you're in the mood for something hot to compliment your fried seafood - this is worth getting. This is also featured on the happy hour menu for $5 - Garlic Fries [10/10]: My favorite bite from this place so far. Not on the happy hour menu, but 100% worth getting and eating with your fish, shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. Perfect amount of seasoning and that white wet sauce on top is so so so addicting. The unsung hero of my most recent visit was Jose over at Station 20. In addition to taking my order, he single handedly called out orders for everyone by the dining the area during the end of happy hour rush. A whole wave of customers came in less than 10 mins I placed my order so I can only imagine how overwhelming things were on the service side of things. For my most recent visit, most of my order came in and my garlic fries came in last. I could tell there was a mix up in the kitchen, but Jose apologized and said a new order would be ready for me in less than 5. Definitely worth the delay/wait imo. Food is great. Seating is limited. Customer service is superb. But once you fish your food, you gotta take a long walk along the pier. It's a wonderful way to rejuvenate and make sure the quality seafood digests well. Can't wait to explore more of the menu, including the happy hour drinks.

I've been coming to Quality Seafood for the past couple of years, usually on Fridays for fish…read moretacos, and I've ordered the same fish taco and shrimp taco combination 40 to 50 times. It has generally been a place I've enjoyed and recommended, which is why this stood out. There's always been some normal inconsistency in portion. Some days the fish is bigger, some days smaller. Same with the shrimp, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. That never bothered me. It's part of a busy seafood counter, and I've never felt the need to say anything. What I got today was different. The fish taco was on the small side and dry, but the shrimp taco was the issue. It was served fried, very dark, and overcooked to the point the shrimp was tough. When I opened it after a few bites, I realized I was mostly eating tortilla and toppings. There were only about three shrimp total, which is noticeably less than what I've consistently received here before. In prior visits, I've also been asked whether I want my tacos grilled or fried, including the shrimp, and I've consistently chosen the lighter, non-fried option. What I received today was not that. I approached the counter politely and simply said the taco wasn't good, pointing out the quality and portion issue. I wasn't trying to make a scene and I'm not someone who returns food, especially over something this small. I was more pointing it out so it didn't keep happening. I was told nothing could be refunded because I had taken a few bites, so I asked to speak with a manager. That's where this went sideways. Instead of listening, the manager immediately dismissed it. She repeatedly told me that what I described was "not possible," insisted they have never prepared shrimp any differently in her 27 years there, and said they only ever serve three shrimp. As someone who has ordered this exact item many times, I was essentially being told that my own experience did not happen. The conversation ended with me being asked to leave. I've worked in and managed restaurants. Mistakes and inconsistencies happen. This was a simple situation that could have been handled in seconds, either by replacing the taco or offering a refund. Instead, it was denied outright and escalated. This wasn't about a $5 taco. It was about how it was handled. Being told that your repeated experience is "not possible" and then being asked to leave is not an acceptable way to handle a reasonable concern.

At least the decor was "cute" pretty standard for a seafood boil and had TVs. We got 3 pounds of shrimp with the flavor mix and the spiciest level of heat in addition to some Cajun fries. The seafood was so bland and the fries were so dry with little to no seasoning.

What a gem. Me and…read morefiancé had dinner late last night 5/15 @ 9pm, we did make a reservation at that time and checked in early and they sat us down 10 mins early ((looooved that)). We ordered the Crab cake, perfecting packed together where it was too dense but gently molded. It was packed with umami and this refreshing citrus after taste..it was so damn good. French fries, were a must crispy tasty fries did not disappoint. Spanish octopus, cooked to perfection- lots of interesting flavors and textures we enjoyed. Lastly we shared the tacos (1 cod 1 shrimp), tasty fat tacos. Accompanied with fresh chips and the guac and salsa that was tasty. What really set it for us, was while we were wrapping up the meal. Me and fiancé were toasting to my late dad, today was his birthday. Well we asked for the check and planned to skip dessert. Well before we left our server had packed us the key lime pie to take home..just because. God lord, the timing of toasting my dad, and the generosity had me literally fighting tears. It really was a remarkable meal, we loved every bite. Our server whoever you are your f*cking wondeful and the team you are doing amazing work thank you.

Beyond the Menu--where we step out and explore the full dining experience--chose Eddie V's Prime…read moreSeafood for happy hour, and the experience was a mix. The ambiance is elegant--definitely sets the tone when you walk in--but the happy hour menu is a bit limited and on the pricey side. Now let's talk about the highlights. Our waiter, Sean, was amazing--attentive, personable, and truly made the experience better. We ordered a few items, and the flavors did not disappoint. The lump crab cake was delicious, the lollipop lamb chops were cooked just right, and the African lobster sticks were my favorite. The sliders, though, were my least favorite of the bunch. As for drinks, I had the Narrative Chardonnay--smooth, dry, and just right. Yolanda enjoyed the spicy margarita, which she said hit the spot. Eddie V's definitely feels like a hot spot--one of those places people come to see and be seen. It gave me a little bit of that Friday's-in-the-80s energy, just elevated with a touch more class, because of the folks who were there. I have to admit, it was a little amusing watching the reactions at the front--those quiet "what in the world..." looks from the hostesses and waitstaff when certain people walked in. I even caught a little whispering and nodding in certain directions... like, "Oh, we see what kind of night this is about to be." And if you read between the lines, you could almost hear it--"Yeah... we probably ain't getting no great tips tonight." Beyond the Menu -- because great dining is about more than what's on the plate.

LOVELY BIRTHDAY MEAL EXCEPT FOR OUR STEAK…read more I've been to 3 different Eddie V's and I'm always impressed with their service and food. This location was great except on our night the kitchen didn't know how to cook steak lol. It came out well done (we wanted medium rare) and then they brought out a raw steak. Didn't want to wait again and let it ruin our dinner so we didn't say anything. Beef tartare was fresh and they prepare it tableside for you. Delicious oysters with a sweet vinaigrette was my favorite! Their lobster bisque was also rich and creamy. I ordered the scallops and they were perfectly seared! I don't think I'll return back to this location after what happened with the steak but I recommend you give them a try. Eddie V's is better than Mastros in my opinion. It was my birthday so they had rose petals on the table and gave me a free dessert which was nice touch!
