Loved that we found a place open late enough to get food after the BTS concert. Almost everyone in the restaurant came from the concert and it was PACKED. With that said, we were really hungry and it took them 30 minutes to get the food out. The good thing is that when we finally were able to eat, we enjoyed the food so much! Everything was delicious! We had the kimchi fried rice, clam soup, seafood pasta and tteokbokki with cheese. My least favorite was the tteokbokki because it was wayyyyy soupy and not as much tteok. Hard to find steamed egg in the Gardena / Torrance / Carson area, but 88 Pocha had it. That's why we came! It's in Pacific Square Shopping Center, a strip mall. Busy, and the parking-lot roads are rough -- go slow. The spot itself is cool. More hangout than eat-and-run. Wide open space, signed art on the walls (had fun seeing if AI could translate the Korean), and a button on the table to call the server. Love that they open late. We went Sunday 8/30/2026 and they were open until midnight. We got the steamed egg, fried dumplings, and bibimbap. Steamed egg was excellent, with a little seasoning on top. Dumplings came with 10 -- awesome. Bibimbap was delicious, but I like it better in a stone bowl. This one cooled off faster than I wanted. We'll be back when we want to sit and take our time. My ultimate favorite place to get good korean food and drinks with friends! I always suggest this place when we want to sit and catch up. I came here for a friend's birthday on a weekday, and they were able to accommodate a large party very very easily. Everything was also delicious, reasonably priced, and came out so fast! We got the bossam, kimchi fried rice, chicken wings, kimchi pancake, chicken feet, and sausage and rice cake skewers. Came in a party of 3 on a Friday night and ordered the deep fried dumplings and the cheese tteokbokki. From looking at the menu, the food was on the pricier side so our expectations were high. The food did not meet our expectations. The cheese tteokbokki sauce was more on the liquid side than creamy and the fried dumplings did not stand out. Our waiter was attentive and quick to take our order but we had to wait a long while for a waiter to be available for us to ask for the check. One of few restaurants in the South Bay open late. 88 Pocha is a mid-sized shop with BIG flavors next to small businesses. The restaurant itself is casual, laid back. The few times I've been, it's been on the dimmer side - but that's probably because I've visited late at night when it's not as busy. Food is solid, I've yet to have a bad dish here. My personal favorites include: fish cake soup, kimchi cheese fried rice, soy garlic chicken. Beer selection is decent too, they've got one of my favorites - Terra Service is quick and super attentive. Waiters are always happy to answer questions about the menu and if you need to verify certain portion/sizes. Great for a night-cap, solo dining experience, but more so ideal for group eatery. read more

Hubbers' flight was arriving later than scheduled (no thanks to Southwest Airlines' track record of delayed flights) which means dinner will have to be late night eats. As I drive out of LAX, Hubbers did some Yelp search and said, "88 Pocha...?!" In a heartbeat, I told him we should try it. "I've had them bookmarked for awhile, let's go?" I went into a slight disappointment when I noticed it was a bit too saucy for my taste, but that immediately went away soon as I took a taste/sip of it. The flavor is deep and well put together! The pasta was cooked to an almost-perfect al dente and they were generous with the amount of seafood they included here: shrimp, mussels, squid, clams, scallops. I ate this almost tsukemen style. It was also a lot for one person, this can be easily shared by two people. SPICY PORK BULGOGI: Hubbers' choice for main. I hesitated to try it because I wasn't sure how spicy it was. He said it wasn't bad, that I may be able to handle it. So I took a bite... then another... and a third... and I had to stop because I didn't wanna end up nicking most of his food (even if I was already full from my own dish!) Delicious!
