Good points: Great for families , that don't have a chance to cool or get together Priced well per person about $23pp on weekends Clean, and well prepared , but wear went when they first opened . Variety of asian food , soups individually served , sushi options, cold crab and Cajun crab, kids options , american desserts and asian buns nd ricecakes. Teppenyaki but looked like Mongolian BBQ. Taste was not bad 3 out of 5 for a variety of items we tried i.e. the noodles, fried and stewed fish, crab, walnut shrimp, fresh fruit , jello, and rice cakes. I know this place serves hundreds of people within hours. I totally recommend over some of the bougie beach spots when you're with the fam!

I remember when this used to be a Home Town Buffet location...ICHIBAN is definitely an upgrade . Food quality was good. The decor looks nice, and customer service was a 10.

Ask the Community - Ichiban Buffet

Do they have crabs the whole day on Saturday and Sunday?

They should, however, you better be on the lookout for them because as soon as they are presented at the buffet, they are gone FAST! And will have to wait for the next batch.

    Do they sell alcohol?

    No, they dont have that

Do they still do tibeye all day on weekends?

Hey! Are they generous with costs here? Like, lets say for example I came for a table of 2 at around 3:00pm, but I need to wait around 1 hour or more, and we would get our seat at 4:30pm. Can we still pay for the Lunch hour and not the Dinner hour?

Dinner starts at 3:30, so I would imagine if you get your table at 4:30, then you would be considered for dinner prices. Better to ask the establishment themselves.

Hello, can I make a reservation for August 2nd? It is not a large party but it is for my mom's 85th birthday and I don't think she can wait a long time to be seated.

It's probably best to call the restaurant, however, they may only take reservations for large parties.

Is crab only served on weekends?how much for dinner time?

All week dinner time I believe. Crab is very small and very thin and it's on ice. Very hard to get the meat out.

Hi do you do reservations for big parties?

Yes only on weekdays thank you

    Do they accept Apple Pay?

    Yes, they accept Apple Pay.

Is there any crab on sunday lunch?

Yes we have Steamed live crabs and snow crab legs on Saturday and Sunday all day

Is there crabs during lunch time?

    No only for dinner time

What time does dinner service start?

They start serving dinner menu at 3:30pm. Enjoy!

    When are crab legs served?

They have them all the time I suppose. we have been there in the middle of the week and they have them.

    How much for kids?

    Last I went a few months ago: 3-6yrs old: $8.99 7-10yrs old: $14.99.

    Any to go option?

Yes, you get a box from the staff and you fill it with what you want and then at the cashier station it will be weighed and you are charged by the weight. Sorry, I don't know the current pricing.

How much is dinner and lunch?

As of Feburary 9th 2025 Lunch is 15.99 for adults Dinner is 21.99 for adults

Any of the food contains peanuts and treenuts?

Hi Cheryl, yes some of their menu items contains peanuts, tree nuts and sesame seeds.

Do they serve beer or wine?

No they do not, only fountain drinks and hot coffee. Ofc water too.

This place obviously has regulars who know Chef Taka & were really having a great time with him. Chef Brian served us the most perfect bites of ridiculously fresh fish. Some of my fave sushi pieces were a torched salmon w/kelp, Spanish mackerel, uni, eel, & sweet shrimp. A tiny, molten hot chawanmushi had the most flavorful surprises within. And the broth made from the sweet shrimp head was liquid gold. A really nice finish to dinner was a little scoop of black sesame ice cream, included in the omakase. The perfect amount of food, & every bite was fantastic. Warm service, friendly faces, & easy parking made this an omakase I want to repeat often!

Highlights -easy parking -decent amount of indoor seating -quick and kind service: we got here at 11:30a (right at their opening time). We ordered, ate and left within the hr, even with a baby. - for omakase, it's bang for the buck. Some of the reviews complain about the portion sizes but it's not too bad. I actually appreciated that the sushi rice didn't overwhelm the fish. The miso soup was good (had more than just tofu but also had carrots, and diakon radish bits). First time having the Kakitamajiru. Not bad at all either. If I'm a fan, then why did I not give this place 5 stars? The quality of the actual fish. When I had asked the waitress what the difference between the fish was for the Chirashi bowl vs sushi combo vs omakase, she said it was the quality of fish. I won't know for sure, but the quality of the sushi for the omakase was not top tier. It was okay. Not the worst but surely not "top tier." I honestly would not be surprised if i ordered the sushi combo/chirashi bowl, my opinion of quality would be the same. Then, that would mean I'm paying extra for the miso soup, Kakitamajiru, and dessert for the omakase? Overall, a decent place id be willing to come back to and try again.

The ikura gave it the perfect salty balance, while the seasonal sweet corn added a natural sweetness that tied everything together beautifully. Such a simple combination, but incredibly well executed. I also love Korean raw crab, so when Chef served a rice dish with raw crab and caviar, I was immediately hooked. The combination was incredible--I honestly needed a much bigger bowl of it! The tamago was another huge surprise. I usually don't eat tamago at omakase, but this was honestly the best tamago I've ever had in my life. I can't remember exactly what Chef said was on top, but whatever it was added so much flavor and completely changed my mind about tamago. I also usually don't eat abalone, but theirs was incredibly sweet and tender. I'm still wondering if the sweetness came from the preparation or if the abalone itself was simply exceptionally high quality. Either way, it was delicious. The tempura fish was another standout--light, crisp, and incredibly flavorful without overpowering the fish. And then there was the sandwich, which was one of the most unexpected courses of the night. The combination with the shiso leaf was so good, and Chef mentioned that he makes the bread himself, which I thought was incredible. You can really tell there's a lot of thought and craftsmanship behind every part of the meal. Another highlight was seeing their dry-aging machine. Each fish was so well dry-aged, and you could really taste the difference. The fish had incredible depth, texture, and concentrated flavor. Beyond the food, the ambiance was great, and our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and welcoming throughout the entire meal. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and special. What I loved most was that every course felt like a surprise. It wasn't just the traditional omakase progression--it felt creative, thoughtful, and like the chef was constantly finding new ways to bring out different flavors. Would highly recommend Sushi Sonagi if you're looking for an omakase that goes beyond the expected. Come hungry--you're going to want seconds of some of these dishes!

I always order the beef medium rare, and they consistently get the temperature right. That reliability honestly stands out to me because I have been to actual steak restaurants where the doneness can be hit or miss. At Azuma, I can confidently ask for medium rare and trust that it will come out exactly that way without having to order it rarer just to compensate. The teriyaki sauce is also really well balanced. It has enough sweetness to give you that classic teriyaki flavor without becoming overly sugary or masking the taste of the beef. One of my favorite parts of the meal is actually toward the end, when the white rice has soaked up both the teriyaki sauce and the savory juices from the steak. Mixing everything together makes even the remaining rice incredibly flavorful. The macaroni salad is another pleasant surprise. I'm normally not much of a macaroni salad person, but theirs is one I actually enjoy and willingly finish. Add a little of the teriyaki sauce to it and it gets even better. The shrimp fried rice is also worth ordering. They are very generous with the shrimp, and these are actually large, substantial pieces rather than the tiny shrimp you often see tossed into fried rice. The rice is mixed with egg and green onions as well, making it savory, satisfying, and substantial enough to enjoy on its own. Overall, Azuma continues to be a reliable favorite for me. The perfectly cooked teriyaki beef is easily the star, but the balanced sauce, solid sides, and generous shrimp fried rice make the whole meal satisfying. At this point, ordering the teriyaki beef dinner here is less of a decision and more of a tradition.
