    Sushi combo
    Thu D.

My friend and I came here for lunch on a Saturday, and there were plenty of tables available. I got the sushi combo, which came with eight pieces of sushi, and my friend got the lunch combo, which allowed her to choose two items from a list. Both combos included miso soup and a very small salad. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and we had a nice lunch with friendly service.

Sushi and Sashimi Combination. So good! 10/10

Quality of the fish was 10/10. The owners are incredibly polite, and the service was attentive. The vibe was sushi restaurant meets Dodgers fandom.

This place is incredible! I keep coming back. The service is outstanding and the sushi is FIRE! Sushi Combination plate is the way to go. They know what they're doing. 10/10 for me. You definitely get what you pay for.

Delicious place for lunch in Torrance. I loved the nigiri we got from here. It was so fresh tasting! Everything was presented so beautifully and tasted great. We got the nigiri special, popcorn shrimp and soft shell crab. I would come back again!

Cute low key spot. Def has a good level of authenticity. The parking lot is small so either you'll get lucky or park in tozai plaza next door. Overall our experience was great and def came through for our sushi craving. Salmon skin salad: overall the salad and dressing was yummy. However, there wasn't really actual salmon skin nor was it crispy... it was more like flakes of sautéed salmon meat and not very much of it. For $16 and the small amount of fish we got I prob wouldn't order again. Sushi combo: delicious. It came with takiwasa, ikura, salmon, salmon belly, tuna, chutoro, and white pieces of white fish, 2 with seasonings. I love that they topped one w yuzu kosho! I usually don't care for ikura or takowasa but both were good and fresh tasting! We liked the sushi so much that we ordered more Ika/squid Kinmedai/golden eye snapper Nodoguro/Blackthroat seaperch Sayori/japanese halfbeak Saba/mackerel Negitoro handroll (green onion w/ chutoro) So everything was such good quality and so good... except one which was the ika/squid I love ika sushi but only at good quality sushi places because if not it's terrible. Given that all the other sushi was such good quality I was surprised when this ika was probably the worst I've had. It was probably not fresh and was tough and hard and tasted gross. Instead of spitting it out I just swallowed the whole thing immediately LOL I just couldn't think because it was so bad and especially in this setting I didn't want to be rude. So don't get the ika or ask about its freshness.

I know that I've done something right in my life to enjoy a meal at Toshi Sushi. The toro sashimi is so fresh and melts like butter in your mouth. The Hamachi Kama is a salty, smoky delight. The chirashi bowl is delicious and includes such high quality fish. The very best parts of Toshi? The vibe and the Chef, what a kind person who has created a welcoming space. This place is unpretentious and underrated. It deserves 5 solid stars.

    Crunch Roll with shrimp

Let me start by saying that I love Toshi They have an amazing shrimp crunch roll and their cucumber seaweed salad is simply amazing. Very tasty. I normally ask for extra ginger as their ginger is simply amazing. You add it to your Crunchyroll. Take a little bit with each bite and wow, it's amazing. The cucumber seaweed salad just goes together so well has an amazing taste, and I believe this cucumber salad will go well with any one of their items on their menu. I am a crunch roll fan.

Amazing and fresh sushi and sashimi, very friendly and fast service, the pieces of fish were all very large and thick, as well as fresh. I ordered the omakase set and my husband had the chirashi bowl. Both of us loved the food. What a hidden gem - we will be back!!

Lunch special with teriyaki chicken and tempura

What a gem of a place! We were passing through the area around lunch time on Saturday and stopped in here for lunch. We were warmly greeted and sat down. Service was quick! I got the lunch special with the teriyaki chicken and the shrimp/veggie tempura. My friends opted to get an assortment of rolls and the udon soup. Everyone was very happy with their options. The fish was fresh and tender. Even a basic tuna roll was good! The ambiance is fun, with a little corner of memorabilia was interesting to look at.

Lunch Special - super delicious and also comes with miso soup and salad

Came here for lunch and it was so good I came back the next day for dinner with the whole family. The service is exceptional with super friendly staff. They were prompt and very welcoming. I was surprised by the great quality of the fish. The sashimi and sushi were so fresh and the perfect texture. They have great prices for lunch and dinner for the sushi. All the cooked dishes were delicious and kid approved. I would order the karaage, gyoza and tempura again! And definitely the special chirashi for lunch & sashimi combination for dinner! Can't wait to try other dishes. The restaurant itself was super spacious and would be great for large group dinners and kid friendly. Coming back soon for the amazing experience and fresh fish!

A hidden gem! This is a totally nondescript place that you may not stop in. When we went it was fairly empty but that was not indicative of the food, which was delicious! The sushi was fresh, melting in your mouth. The black cod was 10/10. We met with Chef Toshi who is an absolute delight! 10/10 would return for a no frills classic sushi restaurant.

Plates zoom by like they're late for work, and you're just sitting there deciding which one has the best life insurance policy before you snatch it. The sushi is fresh, clean, and surprisingly high‑quality for a conveyor belt setup. The salmon is buttery, the seared options hit with that smoky richness, and the rolls are balanced instead of overloaded with mayo like some spots love to do. It can be Dangerous. You'll think you're done... then a dessert rolls by like, "Hey." The staff is friendly, quick, and on top of everything. They're constantly refreshing the belt, checking in, and making sure your table doesn't turn into a plate graveyard. If you order something directly, it comes out fast, like suspiciously fast, as if they knew you were going to ask. Located on the second floor of Tokyo Central, it has that casual Japanese market‑restaurant vibe. Bright, clean, and lively without being chaotic. It's family‑friendly, date‑friendly, solo‑friendly, basically everything except "I'm trying to have a deep emotional conversation" friendly. The conveyor belt steals the spotlight anyway. This place obviously has regulars who know Chef Taka & were really having a great time with him. Chef Brian served us the most perfect bites of ridiculously fresh fish. Some of my fave sushi pieces were a torched salmon w/kelp, Spanish mackerel, uni, eel, & sweet shrimp. A tiny, molten hot chawanmushi had the most flavorful surprises within. And the broth made from the sweet shrimp head was liquid gold. A really nice finish to dinner was a little scoop of black sesame ice cream, included in the omakase. The perfect amount of food, & every bite was fantastic. Warm service, friendly faces, & easy parking made this an omakase I want to repeat often!

Highlights -easy parking -decent amount of indoor seating -quick and kind service: we got here at 11:30a (right at their opening time). We ordered, ate and left within the hr, even with a baby. - for omakase, it's bang for the buck. Some of the reviews complain about the portion sizes but it's not too bad. I actually appreciated that the sushi rice didn't overwhelm the fish. The miso soup was good (had more than just tofu but also had carrots, and diakon radish bits). First time having the Kakitamajiru. Not bad at all either. If I'm a fan, then why did I not give this place 5 stars? The quality of the actual fish. When I had asked the waitress what the difference between the fish was for the Chirashi bowl vs sushi combo vs omakase, she said it was the quality of fish. I won't know for sure, but the quality of the sushi for the omakase was not top tier. It was okay. Not the worst but surely not "top tier." I honestly would not be surprised if i ordered the sushi combo/chirashi bowl, my opinion of quality would be the same. Then, that would mean I'm paying extra for the miso soup, Kakitamajiru, and dessert for the omakase? Overall, a decent place id be willing to come back to and try again.

The food at Sushi Sonagi…read morewas excellent, but what really stood out was how unexpected and creative each dish was. My favorite dish was the ikura with chirashi and sweet corn. The ikura gave it the perfect salty balance, while the seasonal sweet corn added a natural sweetness that tied everything together beautifully. Such a simple combination, but incredibly well executed. I also love Korean raw crab, so when Chef served a rice dish with raw crab and caviar, I was immediately hooked. The combination was incredible--I honestly needed a much bigger bowl of it! The tamago was another huge surprise. I usually don't eat tamago at omakase, but this was honestly the best tamago I've ever had in my life. I can't remember exactly what Chef said was on top, but whatever it was added so much flavor and completely changed my mind about tamago. I also usually don't eat abalone, but theirs was incredibly sweet and tender. I'm still wondering if the sweetness came from the preparation or if the abalone itself was simply exceptionally high quality. Either way, it was delicious. The tempura fish was another standout--light, crisp, and incredibly flavorful without overpowering the fish. And then there was the sandwich, which was one of the most unexpected courses of the night. The combination with the shiso leaf was so good, and Chef mentioned that he makes the bread himself, which I thought was incredible. You can really tell there's a lot of thought and craftsmanship behind every part of the meal. Another highlight was seeing their dry-aging machine. Each fish was so well dry-aged, and you could really taste the difference. The fish had incredible depth, texture, and concentrated flavor. Beyond the food, the ambiance was great, and our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and welcoming throughout the entire meal. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and special. What I loved most was that every course felt like a surprise. It wasn't just the traditional omakase progression--it felt creative, thoughtful, and like the chef was constantly finding new ways to bring out different flavors. Would highly recommend Sushi Sonagi if you're looking for an omakase that goes beyond the expected. Come hungry--you're going to want seconds of some of these dishes!
