We were looking for a conveyor belt sushi place and saw Sushi Sumo pop up. We called and asked to confirm if they had conveyor belt sushi and were told they did. We asked if reservations were needed and were told they weren't if we arrived within 30 minutes. We arrived and were promptly seated. We asked if we could sit at the conveyor belt bar but were told we could but that service was delayed and service would be faster, so we opted to sit at a table in the main dining area. The place was full but not overwhelmingly so. The ambiance was busy, which was fine. We ordered a couple of rolls, and I also ordered some uni. I wish I could say that the sushi was good but it honestly wasn't. There's a reason we haven't been back and have no plans to do so. The uni was old and fishy. The worst uni I've ever had. read more

Staff is friendly and accommodating to my disability. Surprisingly I was the only Asian dining when I ate. Sushi was as good as you would expect at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. I did have a nice cold bottle of Sapporo black to go with my sushi. I picked a plate of rainbow roll, 2 tempura rolls and ordered a tuna roll which was made fresh. Restaurant wasn't very busy considering it was around 1:15 PM. Soccer games were on their televisions so most of the patrons were watching the soccer games. If you've ever been to Kura, it's kind of like that except there are sushi chefs preparing sushi right in front of you and there are no touch screens to order stuff and pay for your food. If you've never been here before, there's no need to be intimidated by the conveyor belt concept. They make it really easy for you. If you're seated at the counter, you can start grabbing dishes off the belt immediately. You will be charged based on the number and color of the plates. The menu items and prices are clearly provided on the paper place mats in front of you. You don't have to grab plates off the conveyor belt. You can place orders with the wait staff at any time. If you're into sushi rolls, this is the place for you. Personally, I'm not really into rolls so I didn't try too many of them. I tried the California, Philly, and Lobster rolls . The California and Philly rolls (which I grabbed off the conveyor belt) were okay, not great. The lobster roll, which I submitted a special order for, was not good. The roll was cold, like it was pre made and the lobster and sauce were warm. The difference in temperatures made it unenjoyable. I also tried the salmon sushi, chicken skewers, mussels, edamame, and scallop roll. They were all okay. The service here is actually quite good. There are workers constantly walking around. You don't have to wait long to submit an order, ask for another drink, or ask for the check. Here are some final thoughts about this place. If you want to eat an item that is typically served warm, place a special order for it. Don't grab it from the conveyor belt. The first shrimp tempura plate that I grabbed off the belt was cold. I didn't enjoy it that much. The second one I got was freshly prepared, hot, and tasted much better. Also, Yelp states this place opens at 5pm on Sundays. This is not correct.
