look at this attention to detail, how sweet!

I've been wanting to stop in to Mr. H for a while now and my schedule finally opened up. This spot is open until 4 pm Monday through Thursday. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in :) There is limited seating in this brightly lit spot so you might have to order "to go". I placed a phone order for a late lunch for my two brothers and I. My call went through easily and quickly and was quoted a 15 minute wait time. Super quick right! I got the salmon box, one brother order the chicken box, and my other brother ordered the chicken bowl. My brothers also ordered a spam musubi each and I ordered the kimchi and spicy tuna rolls to share. It was all so good! My brother let me try the chicken. Unlike other places that toss/coat the chicken in a teriyaki sauce I think Mr. H marinates their chicken and wow, does that make a difference. The boxes come with an order of California roll, spring mix salad, and a little shrimp tempura. And, as a surprise, we also received two bags of lifesaver gummies :D I'm so glad I finally got a chance to stop in and will definitely be picking up lunch from Mr. H more often. Delicious flavors and great service. See you there folks!

I came to Mr. H's on my lunch break and it was okay. The person at the front taking orders was kinda rude and didn't seem like they wanted to be there. They had a large selection of Asian dishes from soups to rice plates. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and chicken katsu. It was just okay there was some taste to the chicken I just did not like maybe it was the oil or something. The roll was way better but it was just decent. For the two plates I think the total came out to $21 with a drink which is not bad at all but I just didn't enjoy it. There were a lot of people when I came in but they also had plenty of seating. I think this place is a hit or miss for me it was a miss but I'm glad I tried it.

Solid lunch spot located right across el Camino college! It's tucked away next to Gigis pizza with parking next to it. There's some tables inside and outside. It felt super homey inside and had big pictures of menu items with really reasonable prices. We got: Salmon poke bowl with ponzu (5/5) big portions and came with plenty of salad and rice. Salmon roll (5/5) cooked salmon with California roll. really yummy Beef kimbap (4/5) beef was a bit dry but nicely packed and tasted clean Shrimp unagi roll (5/5) I would get less sauce next time but tempura was fresh Service was friendly and efficient, We'll be back!

Spicy Tuna Pok Spam Musubi

I was craving Poke for lunch. I decided to do a quick google search and found this place nearby! I phoned ahead and placed an order. They told me it was about a 15-30 minute wait because they were running a bit behind on orders. I appreciated the transparency. I waited about 40 minutes before I drove down there. It's a small hole-in-the-wall. It can be easy to miss as well. You can park against the wall next to GiGi's or towards the back. When you go inside, it's fairly small with about 4 tables. I recommend taking your phone to-go. I paid $15 for my order of one spam musubi and a spicy tuna poke bowl. I am a big poke fan and really enjoyed this bowl. What makes it special is that they include both rice and salad on the bowl instead of having to choose either just rice or salad. They package the rice separately which has a nice touch. I love how they pile on the seaweed and avocado. They put the salad on the bottom of the bowl. The spam musubi was decent. Nothing too special. My thoughts are that this is a good lil' Japanese place worth checking out near El Camino College. Definitely order ahead especially during the lunch rush. I will be back!

Chicken Katsu

chicken katsu is fresh, crispy and the salad is to die for. i went for the first time back in 2020 when i was in el co, back when they even had different packaging for the lunch it was a styrofoam box! 6 years later the same plate i always ordered is just as good as i remembered w better container, so much sturdier to eat on the go! i haven't had this chicken katsu since 2020 and have had it in my bucket list to get it again, finally got to have it again and im satisfied! just sucks they close at 3pm and are only open weekdays cause the only time i can ever get food from here is when i have a day off work lol!

4 pieces of Salmon Nigiri is now $18 at a Sushi Restaurant. Here this whole playe was $18. You are getting 3x the sushi for way less than any sushi restaurant. It is good quality sushi at a great price, you can't go wrong.

Tempura Sushi Roll, Beef Kimbap, Spam Musubi

Passed by this little place by El Camino College a bunch of times and was curious to see what they served. Happy it popped up on my Door Dash so decided to try it out. The menu consists of Korean and Fusion type dishes. Some Japanese and some Asian. I know there are a lot of places like this in Hawaii, so curious to know if the owners are from Hawaii. I noticed the prices are very reasonable even on the delivery apps. Ordered the Beef Kimbap, Shrimp Tempura roll, and a spam Musubi. Any other place this would be $30+, with tip came out to be about $23. Not bad. Rolls were good and Spam musubi was decent but missing something and fell apart. Everything i ate here tasted fresh and homemade like someone's Mom made it. Would def order again to try the other dishes.

This place used to be Wasabi Sushiya and is located across the street from El Camino College. There is plenty of parking in the back of the building and I don't believe you can park on the street. There menu spans from spam musubi, to different types of sushi rolls, to rice bowls, poke bowls, bibimbap, ramen, udon, and two different lunch box sets. At the time of this review prices range from $3 to $14! I got their Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl for $8 along with their Kimbap (6 pieces for $4). Their poke bowl came with lettuce, rice, ripe and yummy avocado, green seaweed salad and red ginger. The tuna was not cubed, but mashed with seasonings in it. I can't describe it actually, it was just spicy and good haha. Their bowls come with different sauces - I got the spicy mayo but I think there was also a ponzu one. If you like spice, this is for you. There's a nice balance in this bowl of fat, protein, carb, and flavor. I don't feel heavy after eating this and I believe the price is reasonable. The person taking your order will ask if you want shoyu, wasabi and ginger (I asked for all three) when you order the House Kimbap. This Kimbap has carrots, cucumber, danmuji (or takuan ;]), and eggs inside. There's a slight sweetness to it that I haven't tasted in other Kimbap around, but otherwise, its pretty standard. If you eat it together with the Poke though, it becomes really good. I could also see this being good with their Spicy Rice Cake meal (you dip it in the soup base!). Overall, it seems like the torch and taste of Wasabi Sushiya was passed on to someone who is invested in making good food while keeping food prices reasonable. I look forward to Friday lunches here from now on.

Let me tell you, the food here be so good. As a college student, I need something to fuel me up, with energy. Mr. H has the beeeest food, Japanese and Korean. I always go for the kimbap, I prefer that over sushi. The workers there are nice and provide excellent service. I recommend people to go here, cause the food, is just that delicious!!!

Outstanding bibimbap for lunch. Super tasty, big portion, great price. I took the picture after digging into it already, it looked so yummy.

Amazing price, taste, and location! This new restaurant serves authentic Japanese-Korean food at a low price. Each poke bowl was only $8 and included a lot of fish and avocado. Located right across from El Cam, you will see many students making their way to this shop. A buzzer is given to pick up your food and lunch rush is generally a 15-25 minute wait for food. This is my new local go to comfort food spot at a good price.

We ordered 1 for each of us the omakase nigiri combo, which is 14 pcs of sushi, steamed egg, and miso soup. For the price, I would definitely say that it was worth it with everything that you get and the quality of the sushi they give you. The fish were all really good quality and really well made. The miso soup and steamed egg were both good bonuses that came with it. Service/Ambiance On a friday evening dinner, place wasn't too packed and you had an option for either bar seating in front of the chefs or just a regular table. We had opted for a regular table, but next time we'd definitely go for the bar seating as they make it in front of you and serve it to you one by one rather than serving all the choices in one plate. The staff were all really nice and we didn't have to wait long for our sushi. What is amazing is that each visit seems to be better than last, I don't know how chef Daniel does it. I love chef Daniel and his team. Currently, his sister Annie is working the service, and she is so friendly and nice. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. I started frequenting omakase back when it was cool for the chefs to be "sushi Nazi", unfriendly and aloof, and chef Daniel is the extreme opposite. As for the food... amazing! The courses are similar, starting with appetizers, then nigiri items, and ending with dessert. Some of my favorite items are the mackerel sando (mackerel in home made bread, delish), Jeju abalone with sauce made from its innards, yaki-tamago dessert, beautiful Meiji tofu with dashi broth, I could go on and on. I've had many abalone in my lifetime, but the abalone here is the best I've ever had. He usually has seasonal fish that is limited in availability, and it's such a treat to be able to experience such variety of items. Chef Daniel is also very informative about every course and I learn something new every time, so it makes the dining experience even more special. I highly recommend Sushi Sonagi, Free parking in the lot and reservation is through Tock. Enjoy!

Today, we all gathered as a family to have a dinner at the house for my wife's birthday and our grownup children requested us to order food from here. I have noticed that a lot of the food we ordered and ate, which we have had before have really changed in quality and leveled down in terms of taste and flavors. Definitely went down from how we remember them from before. I ordered some crunch rolls and yellowtail collar and I am definitely sure they were not fresh. The yellowtail collar was hard to bite into and chew and surely pales compared to tjaoe that can be ordered from other Japanese restaurants within gardena. The crunch rolls was dry and lacked good taste and flavor and the salmon in it seemed to have turned powdery in the mouth once I started chewing them. The other members of the family who ordered other items all dis not finish their foods, but did not tell me why. But I'm guessing they did not really like them so I just had to throw them all away after they left. We ordered almost $300 worth of food tonight so next time we do this, we would probably be better off ordering from a lot of other better and authentic Japanese restaurants around gardena where we know food and ingredients are much fresh and delicious, unless Crazy Rock n Sushi step up their game again.
