A cute little mom and pops place with highly affordable food that is delicious. Got the combo plate and added 3 pieces of tempura shrimp as well. Everything tasted great even the bean sprouts which I normally dont like. The wontons reminded me of mini tacos from jack in the box but in shape only in flavor they were superior by far. Food ordered: -Special Combo - Karaage (fried chicken) is pretty good! Marinated beef are strips of thin grilled beef which is also very good since I can taste the "grill/char" on it. Both meats are surprisingly moist, not dry. Side of rice and bean sprouts. I rarely eat bean sprouts but they mix it with a sauce that makes it tasty, gives another crunchy element to the combo. It also comes with croquette (deep fried mashed potato) and wontons. Ask for pepper flakes on the side to add on top of it if you want a little kick. -Marinated beef bowl -Karaage bowl Japanese cuisine run by an older couple. Closed Mondays. I've been coming to Teri's place since I was young, and the owners there are so hard working. It always looks like it's the 2 of them constantly answering phones and cooking. It's a pretty small restaurant that used to have a couple tables, but when Covid happened, it became a takeout place instead. The prices are very reasonable and delicious! Our favorite plates to order are the special combo, Teri beef plate, and the curry! read more

Wonderful shop with delightful service currently only serving take-out. Clean and beautifully decorated ordering and pick-up area. Excellent and reasonable prices. The rating of this review is primarily based on the chicken combo plate, which unfortunately was a bit underwhelming. The fried chicken was juicy and overall well cooked, but both the marinated and teriyaki chicken were dry and not especially flavorful. Solid portion sizes. The food is good the only problem is they are a small operation and were inundated with orders. I called in my order in and was told 20-25 minutes. I got there and paid for my order. it took an additional 30 minutes for my order. The food is delicious and the only real complaint is the timing of getting your food. read more

Teri's place is definitely if you know, YOU KNOW. Such a local north Torrance staple. I usually get the special combo because I love their croquette! The bean sprouts are so yummy. I've tried to recreate it at home but it's never like Teri's Place! Service is great! Since it's a local small business sometimes you'll have to wait a while for your food. tl;dr: Tastes like value. Everything is great and not greasy. Counter lady is really nice and sweet. Go support. These are the kind of local places that are legit; nothing flashy, expensive, or hyped-up, Teri's place makes me feel like I traveled back to the good old days. A simply nice experience and some bomb OG Japanese/American style takeout. The sweet obachan greets you and takes her patience with you and your order. Honestly seeing someone like the lady at the counter makes your day better, even if you're already having a good one. If you go here often, you know who I'm talking about. Now onto the goods: their food is so worth the money. Even with today's increase in price, you can tell they don't mess with portion or taste. I got the special combo for $12.50 and it normally comes with a side salad (dressing is decent), marinated bean sprouts (tastes just like the Korean banchan ones, really good!), teriyaki chicken, marinated beef (almost like teriyaki but I wouldn't call it that since it ain't drenched in sauce), chicken katsu (they ran out and I actually got to substitute it with kaarage, two mini wonton filled with ground meat, and a potato croquette cut in half. Doesn't that seem like a lot of food? IT IS, AND IT'S JUST ONE ORDER..FOR $12.50!! (even though it was $8.50-$10.50 before but this is still cheap man). If I have to say, this meal made me pretty happy. Teriyaki chicken and beef were nicely charred. Both chicken were bouncy and juicy (ohh man their kaarage is soo good..my favorite out of the combo), beef marinade was light and tastes really great with their well-steamed rice (doesn't taste like cheap rice too). Potato croquette is the standard frozen ones but I definitely have no complaints. Even their wonton thing tastes great with a satisfying crunch every bite. My favorite part is there's nothing slathered with a pile of sauces like those "Japanese" teriyaki restaurants with their mediocre ass teriyaki sauce trying to cover the taste of baked microwave uncharred chicken -_- It's authentic, it makes you feel at home, it satisfies. Authentic Japanese cooking. My son absolute loves fried wontons and karage chicken. My favorite is sukiyaki.

My family and I have been regulars for years now. The lady at the front is always so sweet and friendly. I highly recommend the katsu curry. Teri's Place...where have you been all my life? I can't believe I've never tried Teri's Place ever despite visiting the plaza where it's located a few times. I finally got to try this place thanks to my boyfriend who got takeout from here. The first takeout he got consisted of the Special Combo and I became such a fan! I love how the Special Combo has a little bit of everything! it has Marinated Beef, Chicken Cutlet, Croquette and Wontons. It also comes salad and bean sprouts. I love the Croquette and Wontons. It's nice, crisp and so flavorful. I also thought the Marinated Beef had a nice sweet flavoring too it. I loved the Special Combo so much that my boyfriend got more takeout from here a week later. This time; I had the Curry with Chicken Cutlet! Yum! I love curry and their curry sauce is thick and tasty! It's a really great Japanese curry! I loooove Teri's. It was part of my work lunch rotation when I worked in Torrance. Never had something I didint like, even the ok dishes felt homemade. I usually go with the Chicken Combo plate, Teriyaki Chicken/Marinated Chicken and Fried chicken, basically Karaage. Curry is ok, katsubis good, Udon is good. Get the Inarin as a treat, yummy. Owners are super nice, always greet with a smile. Place is super small, too cozy, best to take out unless you avoid work rush. read more

Because the storefront is small, and the food is cooked to order, it's best to call in your order beforehand. Keep in mind that the hours are a little unusual--closed on Mondays, and closed every day from 2-4pm. I think the best things are the combination plates. My go-to is the special combo, which has beef, teriyaki chicken, fried chicken, and potato croquettes. If you're trying to cut down on fried food, the marinate combo is another good choice. Both of these plates have a good amount of food for less than $11. The cashier lady is really nice and even wipes down your credit card and the pen you use to sign the receipt. read more

There is still plenty on the menu for me to try out. My father often brings me the combo plate with the beef/karaage/teriyaki chicken. Which comes with a small side of salad, sprout bean salad, mac/potato salad, wontons, your mains, and a very hefty portion of rice. Unless you are a heavy eater, expect leftovers. Last night I enjoyed this togo again. This time I chose the Japanese potato croquette/Korokke dish. Comes with green salad, bean sprouts, big bed of rice with bonito flakes, and nori (dried seaweed). 2 large croquettes to top it off. Tasty platter. Growing up with a traditional Japanese grandmother who loved to cook brings my expectations high on specific dishes. Some things people just don't nail right flavor wise if it's in your culture and you grew up with it. This place has been around for as long as I remember and I hope it'll be around forever. The prices are still so affordable and the quality has never lead me astray. I love the lady taking the orders and how nicely she packs everything away in the to-go bag. There's pride in every step and you can taste that same love in the cooking. My go to is the beef Teri plate, 2 shrimp tempura, and an order of wontons. I always ask for a side of Teri sauce and it has never been a big deal. Lots of places charge extra, or look at you like you're robbing them blind by asking. Not here. Dip your wontons and shrimp tempura in that Teri sauce and thank me later. read more
