    cold sesame broth with soba
    Tony Y.

Ichimi Ann mentaiko cream udon is gassssss. Seriously, chewy noodles and cream broth/sauce, it's killer. I believe my gf got the goma pork shabu noodles and that was also hit. Can't go wrong with anything here. Can't wait to come back to try more, again!!

I used to come here when I was a child so the fact this place is still popular till this day says a lot about the food! As I remembered it, Ichimi Ann has the best authentic Japanese soba noodles. Cooked to perfection, the texture of the noodles are my favorite! Also the tempura was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Im so happy I was able to come back again :) I will say prices are a bit expensive but the amount of food you get equates to the pricing so I thought it was worth it overall! If you guys want authentic Japanese food, I would say Ichimi Ann is the place to go!

A cute soba place in the middle of Torrance, there is a great selection of soba options to pick from. I tried the cold soba with tempura; the soba was full of flavor and had a good texture to it. Tempura was made to order and was really well done, kept the crisp and all. Overall, I would go back here for lunch meals when I get the chance! Make sure to bring cash as well to avoid the credit card surcharge.

    cold kitsune udon

Came here on my lunch break! There was not too much parking so I had to park streetside and walk a little bit, but soon enough found myself inside. I ordered the cold kitsune soba, took my number and found a seat. There is both countertop seating for single diners and also tables in arrangements of 2 to 4 seats. I think the cashier might have misheard me, because when I got my food, I think I ended up with udon instead of soba noodles. The udon was still pretty good and al dente, the green onions were cripsy and fresh, and the edamame side was nice. I do think that they need to update their menu prices on their website as I ended up paying more than I originially believed I was going to pay. They have a self-serve drink station for cold tea and water and also hot tea! Which was super nice! Loved that! When you are finished dining, just drop your tray off near the counter on the shelves and you can head out!

As someone who used to live in Japan during my college days, Ichimi Ann definitely gets a stamp of approval from me. The prices are a great value for what you're getting especially in the LA area. My friend and I both ordered the combo meal which you get your choice of 1 noodle and 1 rice bowl. Mine came out to a little under 30 dollars. There are so many ingredients that are not common in American Japanese restaurants that you will find here. Ume, Mentaiko, cold soba, and so much more. It's really nostalgic for me and I throughly enjoyed it. I also loved that they had self serve mujicha tea. This isn't a big restaurant. After we ordered we had to wait for people to leave before taking their table. It wasn't impossible as people were quick to eat and leave. We also came at a weird time on a Sunday (2:30pm ish) which is usually the time restaurants are dead...but not this one! The staff were friendly and quick. Parking is easy as it's in a quiet neighborhood off the Main Street. In summary, this place is a no frills, simple, Japanese restaurant. If you've been to Japan this will definitely transport you back to those times.

Such an underrated spot, it seems like a lot of people were locals grabbing lunch with friends/family, people on their lunch breaks, etc. It has a cozy and warm atmosphere to it. The workers are very nice and gave us good recommendations. I believe that they make their soba and udon noodles. They offer hot and cold noodles, perfect for all seasons of the year. This is the most similar to food that I had in Japan, the tempura was crispy and the sauce wasn't too sweet/salty. The place is small with indoor seating. They don't have a parking lot, but there's free street parking. ig: @cravingswithcat

While visiting the Antique Street Fair in downtown Torrance on a lazy Sunday, I saw a restaurant with a familiar name, Ichimian, which has another location on the south side of the town. So I decided to stop by and check it out. The onsite parking spaces were limited with only 5 spots, but there was plenty of street parking. Inside the décor was that of a casual eatery with seating for 40 guests. Their overhead menu showed a large selection of soba, udon, and rice dishes, but without the sushi and nigiri which are offered in their other store. For this visit, I ordered the Combo of Kakiage Hot Udon with the Side Order of Chicken Curry Rice. The food was ready in 10 minutes. Kakiage Udon: The thin style udon noodles were nicely al dente. The broth was clear and flavorful. The battered onion, carrot, and shrimp kakiage was perfectly seasoned and pleasantly crispy outside. Wakame seaweed and sliced green onion gave an extra flavor to the dish. Side Order of Curry Rice: The rice was perfectly cooked with soft and moisture texture. The velvety sauce was flavorful and with a kick of spiciness. The chicken pieces were soft but they could be a little more tender. The price was moderate and noodle portion was generous. A great option for those who fancy high quality udon or soba.

Cold Mentai Oroshi Soba $19-20. Extra fee added if paying with card.

I had this placed in my radar for a while and finally got the chance to stop by yesterday. Prior to my visit, I had read multiple reviews, and it seemed like a noteworthy place for soba! I visited on a Sunday, and street parking was a little challenging, but I managed to find a spot. I believe there's no designated parking spot for the restaurant. There was a queue of people waiting for their order and huge groups of people when I arrived. This made me realize that it's a popular spot! Finding a good place to sit was a little challenging. I ordered mentaiko oroshi cold and paid with card. Everything totaled to $19-20, which I found pricey for what it is (since soba is very typical in Japan). However, it is a specialty food here, so you can't really argue. One thing to note is that they do charge an extra fee if you pay with card. So if you want to save yourself 4%, you'd need to pay with cash. The portions look hefty in the photos, but they are much smaller than they look. I'd estimate around 400 calories? I can tell the store has history / been here for a while, which means they're likely very good at what they do! This has to be one of the best soba places I've had in LA so far. I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the area and looking for authentic Japanese soba.

    Cold Shabu Pork Soba
    Justin F.

Cold Pork Shabu Shabu: 10/10 My eating partner got this and wow, spectacular. I thought it was geared for picky eaters, but wow. The rich sesame mixed with cumin and shiso, such an unexexpected flavor combination. It had flavors that reminded me of Chinese and Indian foods but with that subtle Japanese twist. The noodles are al dente and add to the whole nutty experience. The noodles are PHENOMENAL. A must get. Cold Mentai: 7.5/10 I love mentaiko, but this one didn't do it for me. The daikon oroshi and cold dashi really brought out the bitter fishy notes from the eggs. I appreciated the noodles and overall composition, but maybe my palate isn't sophisticated enough to enjoy these flavors yet. Beef Bowl: 6.5/10 Standard sort of gyudon situation. Beef was a little string, but not too sweet. The rice is a great vessel to enjoy the last drops of the great broths that they have. Ambiance: The interior is beat, not in a cute way. They would do a lot of good with a small reno, so definitely just come for the food. No vibes. Service: Not really slow or fast. The person at the register was kind and took her time to explain the menu. Parking: Very small number of parking spots, even street parking. Be prepared to stop in the scarier parking in the middle of the road.

hot soba yuzu oroshi with "onsen" egg + extra green onion
    Pam Y.

Good noodles per usual. This time I had the hot soba yuzu oroshi. I love green onions so I asked for extra green onions & I had an "onsen" egg on the side. Btw the yuzu flavor was REALLY STRONG lol. You have to love yuzu to eat this. Street parking only. Drinks are self-serve & buss your tray back to the front when you're done eating :).

    Jenning L.

I'm so glad my friend's family recommended this place! This place seems a little bit like a hole in the wall because the exterior/interior is kind of old/worn out. But! It's very authentic (or so my Japanese friends tell me). I just know that I loved the complimentary barley tea available and the mentaiko cream udon was sooo so yummy. Service is rather fast and of course cash is preferred to avoid a credit card fee! Good noodles for a casual lunch with friends.

Agedashi Tofu: 4.8/5 - I wasn't expecting the portion to be large so if I get this again, I'll make sure to bring a friend Millefeuille Shisho Cheese Katsu: 5/5 - Made with meticulous care. Today we decided to revisit the restaurant for old time's sake. Inside, the main wall was repainted with a new mural. The annual LA Marathon posters, pinned by the staff who participated in the events, were also gone. Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. We found out the reason why while exiting the restaurant: The young cook from two decades ago is now running the open kitchen as head chef. Great food and still reasonable prices. It was totally worth revisiting.
