This was the Dumpling Soon Tofu

Thus place is very good very authentic Korean food and the prices are not that bad you get a good serving size

The galbi that came in my 38.99 combo. 4 pieces. The rest of the small box is cabbage. (Used to be served in a rectangular tray)

It pains me to leave such a poor review on a restaurant that I've dined at so often in the past, but my last couple experiences with Lee's - both dine in and delivery - left a sour taste in my mouth. (Long review incoming, tldr at the end). I'll start with the dine in experience: The dine in experience overall is actually fine if you don't care about a lack of service - the interior a bit drab and definitely not somewhere you'd take to impress anyone, but it's great for your ordinary Tuesday. We came in with a table of 3 and the waitress just dropped the placemats and utensils for to sort ourselves. After placing the initial set of banchan and our entrees, she never once came back to check on us - so we never got to refill our banchan or our water. I would understand if the restaurant was really busy, but there were only 2 other tables eating besides us - and when the waitress wasn't waiting on other tables, I'm guessing she was busy with delivery orders. That being said, the food was totally fine and came at a reasonable price. I'm not a stickler when it comes to service, but the dine in experience really just contextualizes how bad the delivery experience is. The delivery experience: I used to order from Lee's Tofu all the time. When the prices of each of the combos went up by 5-6 dollars on Uber Eats (delovery exclusively - prices are still the same in store as of writing), I was okay with it since I understand delivery apps take a big cut from the merchants. What was unacceptable sad that in tandem with this price increase, they DRASTICALLY reduced the portions of the the proteins to not even half of what they were before/in store. I cannot stress enough that the photos of what you see on Yelp are not what you will end up getting if you order delivery - and it's not just my entree (the galbi). My partners beef BBQ combo was also a tiny, tiny portion in a box that was filled 70% with cabbage. Having just been at this restaurant less than a month ago, there was crazy whiplash between the disparity between the pricing and portions of the dine in and delivery experiences. Unfortunately, we don't think we will be returning or ordering from here again. TLDR: If ordering delivery, know you're being upcharged at least 5 dollars per item and pick something like the yellow corvina (the whole fried fish) where they can't skimp on portions - otherwise, your proteins will look more like an appetizer than entree. If dining in, expect bad service.

Been a while where I had to step out of a restaurant due to lack of service and terrible food. The woman from the outset gave attitude- I ordered the seafood tofu, the lady gave me grief for changing tables. There was no one in the restaurant mind you! Upon receiving the dish, everything looked the part -- including the rice served in a hot pot, the boil of tofu looking good, the egg cracked just right. But once I gave a sip, I knew I was bamboozled, this broth tasted like colored hot water, it gave nothing. Absolute embarrassment- I promptly got up and asked for a check from the same rude lady who was surprised and feeling sorry - though she still charged me! I left a small tip since I didn't want the wait staff to take the brunt of what is otherwise a terrible restaurant. Please fix your face and your menu! I felt swindled and unsatisfied. Please avoid!!!

After being a customer for two decades, it pains me to negatively review Lee's Tofu. It's clear to me there are new owners or people running this place. The food and customer service has shifted for the worst. You will also notice how they have added KBBQ to their name. $30+ KBBQ dishes is ridiculous when you can get AYCE for a few dollars more elsewhere. If you have been a loyal customer for years, spare yourself the horrible experience and trust that I just don't want you to walk out hungry or upset. Let's begin with the signature side dishes Lee's was known for. The kimchi and cucumbers would melt in your mouth and you could tell they were soaked in spices. Today, you will taste rushed preparation and the taste of... fridge? I don't even know how to explain how gross it was. Next, all soon tofu bases are too salty and do not have the consistency we loved. I have included a picture on how the broth is now a strong flavor of beef over the tofu (the broth is brown!) As we regretfully tried the dishes we grew to love as I sipped my lukewarm green tea, no one stopped by to ask for a refill or how things were going. My husband had to stand 3 times to ask for napkins, water, and the check. The most embarrassing part? I was still hungry. I could not finish the salty broth and the stone rice no longer has that crunchy bottom coat. Also, how interesting that no one welcomed us to the business until we reminded them we were seated (it was empty by the way) and stood to ask for things throughout our meal, but the moment my mom and I got up while my husband was paying, this lady who gave us attitude throughout the evening, all of a sudden rushed to our table to say, "Excuse me, excuse me, TIP!" As she cornered my husband and demanded for a bigger tip. "TIP" stands for "To Insure Promptitude." We believe in tipping culture when earned, not when a business is careless and we have to look for prompt service. Thanks to previous reviews of them charging more without consent, I told my husband to pay in cash. Goodbye, Lee's Tofu. What a distasteful end to an era.

Decent soon tofu house in a busy plaza. Went for a later dinner - parking wasn't too bad that day, but can get super busy. Promptly seated. Was a no frills sort of place - straight to ordering. Got a beef soon tofu (medium spicy) with a chicken (spicy) plate. Soup was pretty good - wasn't very spicy though. Was also hoping the rice was cooked with some beans in it. Chicken was cooked very well - but also not very spicy (for spicy chicken). Overall not a bad place and worked out as it's open a little later than some of the other soon tofu spots around the area.

This place was my favorite korean tofu spot in south bay area. Came here to order togo last week. Same good quality clam tofu but maybe the chef forgot to put salt in my tofu soup. It has no flavor except spiciness. I had to re cook at home and add salt. Overall the food quality is still good.

Craving spicy tofu for dinner. First time coming to this restaurant. Food was great. They had changed the owner in the past 6 months. New menu they adding. The price was reasonable for soft tofu with Ramen. I ordered Soon tofu with dumpling for dinner. Condiments on the side. Service was good, friendly staff. Not busy when I went there on Friday evening. Good place for family gathering, met up,spicy food lover will enjoy this place. Ambiance of this place was OK. They provides couples table for disabled . Parking was a little bit hard.Couples spot for disabled parking. Im planning to go there again sooner.

    Beef soondubu
    Kenny C.

The soodubu was just ok. I think people like to go here for the tofu and the rice that is cooked in a stone pot. We got some bulgogi and it was tasty. The banchan was also good. It was quite busy when we went and the service wasnt that great, but friends who go there all the time said that that was uncharacteristic of them.

My family and I came on a busy Sunday afternoon. We didn't have to wait at all! We were quickly seated. The parking was easy- lots of space in the private parking lot. We ordered the seafood and green onion pancake, the chicken bbq bulgolgi and bibimbap. The banchan options were wonderful and the service was impressive. They always had staff checking in with us and seeing if we needed anything. My husband who is vegetarian was able to find great options including extra miso tofu soup! The place is chill- low key casual. Busy environment with lots of customers (a good thing). The food was wonderful and the flavors were extremely well done! I cannot wait to come back again! Thank you for a wonderful Korean culinary experience!

    Ellie R.

Absolute gem tucked into a plaza chock full of amazing restaurants. They clearly know what people want as they offer lots of combos that include both the main and the Soondubu for a solid discount. The Soondubu was one of the most flavorful I've had! We got the dumpling addition for free and it was full of Japchae and chives which paired perfectly with the broth and bibimbap. The banchan were also great and the servers were very attentive.

Stone pot rice, banchan, and galbi...forgot to take a picture when my soondubu came lol
    Stacee S.

I've been wanting to try this place since I moved to Gardena and I'm glad I did! We came on a Friday night and didn't have to wait at all, which was surprising. I ordered the galbi combo with dumpling soondubu and my partner got the kimchi with beef soondubu...the galbi was good but I don't need to get it again for the price...ours didn't come sizzling either so the onions were raw, which was too bad. I loved the soondubu though. Next time I'll just get the kimchi beef and call it a day!

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there?…

My question was if they're open still? Thanks for the responses and checking! Appreciate the help! I did try calling again but no answer, very odd. I decided to order thru Grubhub, and sure enough, my order was picked up & delivered!

It is pricey but you get what you pay for in terms of quality. We got the american wagyu set. 6 pieces of each of the 7 meats and 4 pieces of sausage. We also got high quality beef tongue. My fav was the high quality beef tongue. Huge contrast to the normal beef tongue. Also liked the short rib. I got shiso rice w dried and fresh shiso which I adore and it was super good. Their standard kimchi was also pretty good. I would order the assorted kimchi if I went again. We also got the vegetable namul which was good but I could prob do without. It's nice for a group. They have a lot of drinks and my fav oolong-hi and fresh lemon, grapefruit, and kiwi. I would say a set alone would be good for 3-4 people. You may have to order more if you're big eaters. The group of 5 I came with doesn't eat so much and we were super full w the set and a few additional things.

I arrived at this place through a quick google search. I was in the mood for Korean BBQ and in…read moreGardena so the visit was produced by convenience and chance. And, although, I found this place to be good, in the sea of Korean BBQ places this place remains just good, maybe standard, and does not stand head and shoulders above the rest. But I do not mean that as an insult, and if one has perspective this can be praise. For instance, take a ninja. He might not be the ninja that is destined to wheel the throwing stars of destiny, but he still had a stedy career within a vast ninja army. Moreover, being able to steadily continue amongst many might not earn you gold stars on your forehead, but at least it keeps one going on their path till they are ready put their sword and nunchucks down. In other words, there is nothing wrong with being good on average because not all people can climb a mountain in a mythic way, some people climb the mountain through their own speed and step, and never give up, they just stay on their path of good. My partner in bite and I stuck to only three meats--- the chicken, the brisket and the pork belly. And all of these bites were solid but the pork belly was a standout bite. To say that the pork belly was yummy! would be an understatement, for the pork belly was yummy!!!I. I took the brsket, their cabbage salad, a brown sauce that was sweet, and chicken and rice and mixed it in the cabbage salad bowl. All the flavors working together was what made the food spectacular, it had become an ensemble that carried the meal. Truly, the sum of the parts made the whole a flavor blast. In contrast, my dining buddy took a spoon put rice on top, then the brisket on top, then dunk the spoon into a small dish with the brown sweet sauce then deposited the full spoon into his mouth. He assembled each spoonful. I note this to remind all of us that there is no wrong way to eat because I mixed, he assembled, someone else might construct while another might create using the spoon as a brush and the sauce to stroke across a plate. This place did have some practices that were all of its own. My favorite was the water kettle that was brought and poured into the fire to quell its flames. It felt ceremonial, like the kings of the past saw these kettles used when their fire flames needed to be extinguished when they were done with the meal. I also never had a korean noodle soup as part of a korean bbq experience. It kind of tasted like chicken noodle soup more than a korean soup. Some of the small side dishes include radish, and rice paper. Imagine small tortillas. One can use them to make small "tacos" with meat, and vegetables. I just used a lazy explanation to describe the Korean papers and their purpose. It kind of broke the spell of the Korean dining experience. But I went with the words that the server used to explain the papers as well. And there is no clearer way to explain the use of the small circular rice paper wraps than to say one will assemble small Korean tacos with them. There was also potato salad, Kimchee, and other flavor builders. For me it is always fun to construct and enhance my plates with the use of all available to me. And when eating Korean bbq the possibilities are maybe endless. The service was engaging and attentive. Our grill got changed maybe like four times, and there was the kettle that was used to lessen the fire. I did clip a video of the fire ablaze. The fire was high- for a korean bbq grill- and it was tall probably taller than I have ever seen at a Korean place. So this place this offer me that. My partner in grill, noted that the place does not offer us to take meats home. And that they might charge for uneaten food. He worried that we were going be charged at the end for not eating all our meat but we did not leave a lot behind. We just left enough for it to be known as the standard amount that one leaves behind when one engages on AYCE Korean BBQ experience.

Now for the good things which there is a lot: The meat is great. I've noticed that the more popular Korean bbq spots like Gen or 92 in Torrance don't have good meat. This place 100% does. It tastes fresh. As for sides, you get kimchi, white rice, and a couple other things but there's also cilantro & onion mixed together which I thought was different. You get a salad and the assortment of sauce they provide was delicious. Their beer selection is mid but they offer soju too. I'm not very picky with beer. I enjoyed cass with my dinner. The brisket was great and if you like beef bulgogi, you would select their sirloin which is the same. The workers are incredibly friendly. They will change your grill, help put your food on the grill for you, clear out your table, etc etc. They all are very attentive. The tables are circular which is odd and then there's one big table in the back which is kind of in its own little room. I came on a Wednesday night and it was slightly busy so I can only imagine what a weekend night is like here. The music is fun & the food truly is 5 stars. I love Moon bbq. I will be back!

I had seen some social media posts raving about this place & with this being located in the South Bay area, I knew it was going to be worth the drive. Butcher Omakase $75 - appetizers of pickled vegetables, beef soup, US Wagyu sashimi, 7 varieties of meat, curry rice, today's dessert. Wagyu Omakase $90 - appetizers of pickled vegetables, beef soup, US Wagyu sashimi, 7 varieties of meat, curry rice, Chef's special dessert. You have a choice of beef curry or upgrading for A5 Wagyu sushi $10 & adding uni for another $10. I got the Butcher Omakase with the A5 Wagyu sushi topped with uni. They bring the big slab of wagyu sushi & literally torch it to give it an added flavor. It was definitely good but I would actually skip the uni as the creamy flavor of uni & the fatty wagyu flavor cancel each other out. It diminishes the greatness of 2 amazing ingredients. The beef soup is a consommé made from the wagyu bones/trimmings & it has such a richness, the bold umami flavor really leaves you speechless. The pickled vegetables and kimchi were okay. I would have preferred spinach goma-ae or something like a small cucumber & wakame salad. Each course of meat was slightly different. There were 3 different cuts of tongue, all good but the cut from the underside of the tongue was a bit chewy. As each course came, the meat quality & flavor kept getting better! All of us agreed that the best & the star of the Omakase is/was the Wagyu Sukiyaki!! The sweet smell of the sukiyaki sauce drizzled over the wagyu as it sizzled on the grill was drool-worthy. Once it was quickly cooked, the wagyu is dipped into the whipped sukiyaki cream! It looked so weird but it was absolutely heavenly!! You can order small bowl of ramen or extra cuts of different wagyu but the Sukiyaki Wagyu is not available a la carte or as an extra serving. Darn it! The dessert was a Hoji-cha purin (pudding or more like flan). I've never had Hoji-cha purin & it was actually as good if not better than matcha to end the scrumptious meal. The service there was top notch, each dish was explained well and they cooked the meat quickly with attention to detail, good presentation. Our waitress even came out from behind the counter to take pictures of our extended family by the wall sign next to the front door! Wagyu Butcher has a wrap around rectangular counter seating only so it is a bit tricky to seat in a big group. We had 6 of us and it was hard to have a conversation with everyone. The only problem I saw with this seating arrangement was how they accommodate guests in wheelchairs or special mobility devices. Maybe they have a table in the back corner that I didn't see from where I sat. We all want to go back again for the next special occasion dinner! It was worth every minute of the drove down & more!!

We gave this place a try because we were excited to see they have Rice Wine here (since most of the mainstream KBBQ places didn't have this), and we were satisfied beyond our expectations. Parking: A very small dim lot next to the restaurant. Right below the small sign that sits above it. Ambience: We came on a Saturday night (7:00pm) expecting busy wait times but we called in and there was no wait! We were immediately seated. It's a very small restaurant, the booths are big enough to fit a family but bigger parties may need to call in to see if space is available. The vibes are especially different from most bigger and popular places but this qualifies as a hidden gem for sure. Service: Quick and nice! Second time coming to a place where they cook it for you at some points and serve you. They check on you often enough and were quick to see you get all that you ordered. Food: Absolutely nothing I've never had before, we knew we wanted brisket and pork belly, we skipped out on the combos + intestine sections bc of this. Luckily our two meat combo qualified us to also receive a soybean paste soup, steamed egg, and corn cheese for free! We additionally added rice paper to our order for a small charge. The menu is vast and I would like to come back here to try their different meats. I have never had a more flavorful brisket in my KBBQ experience before and the pork belly was thick enough and had that chewiness texture that made it so enjoyable. Employee was nice enough to inform us that the soup + steamed egg are carefully cooked with real flavorful ingredients, so expect high-quality. We didn't go into this place expecting AYCE since we believe places that offer à la carte specializes in quality, so please come with the same idea if you choose to go here! Regardless, our small bodies were filled by how much food we received! Overall, I gave this place a chance despite its smaller reviews, smaller atmosphere, and a generally smaller presence this had in comparison to its competitors. I would suggest you do the same too!

The parking lot is small but it's only for their establishment. Banchan - 4/5, salad, kimchi jeon, onions, soy bean sprouts, mac salad, cucumber kimchi, spicy fried chicken Premium beef brisket - 5/5, ACTUALLY very high quality and had a good amount of fattiness Intestines combo (only large intestines) - 5/5, includes a deonjang soup, steamed egg, and corn cheese. You can choose up to 3 intestines for the combo, but I only wanted daechang. I loved how they prepared it and it was also cooked with onions, garlic, potato, and rice cakes!!! Cons: - Mosquitos in the restaurant - I'm surprised you need to order kimchi and it wasn't part of the banchan
