Chicken Over Rice
Danielle K.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! I dont really prefer thai food but my husband LOVES it so when we saw this place, i wanted to try it with him (also because they have duck!). I got the chicken over rice which is simple but VERY delicious. It is cooked perfectly and the rice is a great complement. I loved both spicy sauces too! My husband got the bbq pork pad thai which definitely gave it a different flavor and he ate the whole thing. My BIL got the pork soup and it was a huge portion and he kept saying how good it was. We got the shrimp roll appetizer as well & they were hot and garlicky and a good size. Cannot WAIT to come back here and try the duck and the soup too!! Service was attentive and friendly, very welcoming. Its a good space and brightly decorated. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!

Ambiance: it's a family style Thai restaurant located in a strip mall with ample parking spots, the place is small but very clean inside, good for dine-in and takeout Service: friendly staff and efficient kitchen, it took about fifteen minutes after placing the order to have the food ready, everything is packed well, except the sauce was leaking and the thin bag got broken easily Food & Drink: classic Thai food menu with curry, rice, and noodle dishes PAD C-EEW - *** choice of beef, flat rice noodles tossed with egg in a black soy bean sauce, cabbage, chinese broccoli, and carrot, light flavor, and the noodles were too falling apart and tasted so mushy Green Curry - **** choice of chicken, fresh green chili curry paste seasoning in coconut milk with bamboo shoots, green bean, and Thai basil, flavorful broth, tasty with rice Thai Ice Tea - **** standard sweet taste, recommend Price: generous portions and affordable prices, expect $20~$25 for a decent meal

I decided to treat myself to one last takeout meal before the New Year but unfortunately, it was a letdown. Most of my usual favorites were closed for New Year's Eve, so I went with this place for the first time. I ordered basil fried rice, fried wings, and pad see ew. The wings were dry and bland--definitely seemed like they were reheated or refried, lacking any real flavor. The main dishes were equally disappointing. The pad see ew, in particular, was noticeably dry from the start and tasted awful. Overall, it was a waste of money. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Such a letdown for a special meal.

My favorite Thai restaurant was closed today so I searched Yelp for an alternative. I was in the mood for pad thai with tofu and saw this restaurant not too far from where we were driving. The restaurant was located in a strip mall across from El Camino College. It was clean and I was welcomed as I entered. There was a lunch menu but I opted for a regular sized pad Thai serving to go. I liked the consistency of the noodles, but it lacked much flavor. There was a generous portion of tofu. I might try some other dishes sometime if I'm in the mood for Thai food again on a Monday.

First timer at NOODLES NOODLES!!!Ambience is lovely- piano music playing softly in the background. Today's order CHICKEN FRIED WONTON and CHICKEN PAD THAI!! Okay, so the fried chicken wontons were good, but it would have been better if there was an adequate amount of chicken in each wonton.. some wontons were flatter than others. I liked having a side of sweet and sour sauce to dip the wontons. The Chicken Pad Thai was delicious i liked the shredded vegetables on the side- I was able to control the amount of vegetables I wanted to mix in the noodles. I would definitely come back and eat at Noodles Noodles.

I'm very particular with flavors! I got the Tom Yum Shrimp and Chicken Lime and I was impressed! I've had several dishes from Thai restaurants and they can't see to get it quite right. Noodles Noodles got it spot on!

I ordered the pork chop with black pepper sauce, and it was delicious. It even came with a side of garlic noodles, which was a great addition to the meal. We also got a free side of deep-fried mantou, which was a nice bonus. The service here is excellent. My friend is vegetarian, and our waiter was incredibly helpful and patient in trying to figure out what he could actually eat on the menu. He was even honest enough to warn us that the oil used for the fried mantou might not be strictly vegetarian. That being said, I honestly don't recommend coming here if you are a vegetarian. The options are extremely limited--my friend pretty much only had the choice between garlic noodles or string beans. Overall, it's a solid spot with friendly staff and really good food if you eat meat, and I'll definitely be coming back for the pork chop or the duck. But if you or someone in your group has a strict vegetarian diet, you'll probably want to look somewhere else.

Tried out the Shrimp Scrambled Egg from their lunch special which includes side soup and veggie egg…read moreroll. Egg roll is meh. Side soup tasted like powder based which is light in flavor. Chili oil did save the side soup. The omelette was well balanced in flavor. Cooked to perfection as the egg was very fluffy. Bok Choy is plain boiled. But good to cut down from the saltiness of the eggs. The shrimps were large hibachi sized and very plump! I got around 9-10 pieces of shrimp which all were consistent in scale. Save 5% when paying in cash! A little under 17$ for a perfect omelette is a fair deal.

We did beat the lunch rush (when we…read moreleft, the parking lot was full!), but it was still pretty full with a lot of older Korean folks in there, so you know this place is good! We ordered the bibim naengmyeon & bulgogi ssam. The wait to get the food and banchan was a bit on the longer side because there only seemed to be 3 ladies running around serving anyone, but totally worth the wait. They gave us a complimentary small portion of the mul naengmyeon which was so chewy and delicious and refreshing. But my favorite definitely was the bibim naengmyeon- it was beautifully presented with half a hard-boiled egg, a few slices of brisket, shredded cucumbers, a slice of Asian pear, and a stack of thinly sliced pickled radishes on top. I think it could have used a little bit more heat, but the flavor was delicious! The bulgogi ssam was good-- less beef than I was hoping for, but well cooked and nicely flavored. The veggies they gave us were very impressive- very clean and fresh! And the sauce was so good. The banchan were all so good-- my favorites were the spinach banchan and fish cake banchan! This place has now officially taken over on my list as my favorite Korean restaurant in the South Bay!

So this is my honest experience of this restaurant from my visit today at dinner time…read more It's not good. It about 60% full. Our food was mediocre at best. We ordered the galbi combo with spicy tofu. Soup was under seasoned and inedible. The galbi was the cheapest flaken cut you can buy at the Korean market. Its was fatty and full of gristle and was not cooked and was raw in the middle. The staff in Korean were bad mouthing and so sour working there it was sad. If you under staffed and unhappy then go to the back and scream and cuss but Why are you so sour and make sure the customers can hear you while passing by with the food and complain it's too busy ? There was one elderly lady maybe in her 80s with possibly her two daughters. They were sitting there for at least 45 minutes when the waitress came up and said I just want to double check your order that's when they realized that the waitress didn't even put their order in they were saying in Korean that please don't leave. Granny is here and we will get the food out as soon as possible and yet as they were leaving the table, you can see them with a smirk on their face. It was disgusting. The worst part is isn't actually even over there must've been a table of 20 across from us celebrating a birthday and they were there before we were and they must have been served at least an hour after us and the waitresses were so rude to them. I felt so bad for that party, but they looked so laid-back. I don't know if they really even noticed or cared. We ended up trying to pay for 10 minutes to get out of there and finally just got our own containers from the weight station a plastic bag and as they saw that we were leaving they finally took our payment Maybe this was an off night maybe there was a different cook in the back maybe they were so busy that they just couldn't pay attention to flavor any of their food or cook it thoroughly. Maybe they were short and someone called in for staffing. All I know is everyone with the prior reviews seem to have great service and food, but this is definitely not what we experienced and definitely not what the table behind us or the table in front of experienced This was by far hands-down, the worst experience. Hopefully this never happens to you cause we'll never come back.

Consistenly delicious Japanese food, worthy of 5 stars…read more Feels like a mom and pop Japanese restaurant with tasty food. It's a small eating area with a nice rustic wooden ambience--somewhat darkened with Japanese decor. It's in the Tozai Plaza immediately east of Western Ave. There are a bunch of mostly Asian restaurants in this plaza, but you can't see them easily from the nearby streets. I have eaten the Mini Katsudon Set twice, which is a pork cutlet on rice with a sweet and savory egg included. It includes Udon as well, which is also great. I've tasted the Kalbi, macaroni salad, and house salad, and all of the food is of high quality. The help are also nice, and that's where I got the Mom and Pop vibe from. They gave me a complementary macaroni salad when I picked up my takeout order.

The restaurant is located in a fairly busy strip mall with other popular restaurants and drink shops located within the same mall. Renowned food critic Jonathan Gold from the Los Angeles Times wrote an article about this restaurant back in 1992 ( https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-07-09-fo-2127-story.html ). [Parking]: The strip mall has a big enough lot and our party had no issue finding an available spot during weekday dinner hours. [Interior]: Old school Japanese mom-and-pop dining vibe. [Menu]: The restaurant offers various combo sets with tempura, bento, udon, and seafood (unagi, salmon, grilled mackerel, etc). Their specialty dishes are Shoyu Udon and Tanuki Udon. *** Tendon Combo (assortment of fried tempura with a semi sweet sauce poured on top of rice $15.95): The fried tempura pieces were not as good as the tempura from Tendon Tempura Carlos Jr. as the combo lacked variety. The miso that came with this combo was really good. *** Overall a mediocre experience with the tempura combo that I ordered, but I sampled the udon and liked it a lot better than the tempura so I would definitely recommend getting their specialty like udon for a better experience.

I've ordered a couple of other things off their menu, like the Khao Soi and Boat Noodles, but the Tom Yum takes the cake for me. It has the perfect balance of sour, savory and spicy flavors. There's something about that bright, tangy broth that keeps me coming back every time. They have two different variations of Tom Yum on the menu, and I personally prefer the rice noodles over the egg noodles. It also comes with a variety of fish balls, which makes the bowl even more fun to eat. The desserts here are worth getting too. At around $15.99, the price was okay, although the portion felt a little small. I'm still chasing that bowl that delivers big flavor, a satisfying portion, and a reasonable price. Why is that combination so hard to find in LA? At this rate, I might have to head back to Bangkok for those $2-$3 bowls . The flight might hurt the savings a little. On the plus side, parking was easy, service was quick and friendly, and you can pair your visit with a shopping stop at nearby Tokyo Central. A convenient spot for a quick meal, but my boat noodle search continues.
