    Tempura soba
    Daniel W.

Nice small hole in the wall with great service. But the price for the quality of the food is crazy. I thought my tempura was crispy, but not really. The noodles were nicely cooked, and that's about it. For nothing standout, I think that I won't be back for this price.

Ordered the Unagi bowl combo. The unagi was tender, flavorful, and had that perfect sweet savory glaze that makes it so good over rice. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The hot udon was comforting with a clean, rich broth and thick noodles that had a great chew. It balanced the richness of the unagi really nicely. The restaurant is very small and intimate. They don't serve alcohol. It has a calm, cozy atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your food. Service was friendly and efficient, and everything came out hot and fresh. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving a comforting Japanese meal.

Super cute cozy little hole in the wall! The place is tiny, maybe seats around 20 people total and there's only one server.... but the food is totally worth the wait. They have this really rich iced barely tea too. Complimentary and super refreshing for this heat. No frills, nothing fancy, but the food tastes GOOD and you can totally tell it was made with love and care. This place is also one of the few places I've found that does thin udon! It's nice and chewy, and pairs sooooo well with the cold broth. Right now the heatwave is killing me and this totally hit the spot. They do hot soup, cold broth, or dipping style. I've tried both their soba and udon and like both! Really can't go wrong here so just mix and match as you please. If you come during lunch they'll give you a scoop of seasoned rice so just a nice little bonus to keep in mind. The tempura is light and crispy and fried in a way where it's not greasy or heavy in any way. I usually just get the tempura on the side (ten kake/zaru) or the tempura bow combo and haven't strayed from that too much. I did order a salmon ikura bowl combo once and that was good too! Super fresh, good, no complaints. I just find myself craving tempura as a side when I'm here. Parking directly in front is limited but it's part of a huge plaza, so absolutely no issues with parking. There's a Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Nijiya Market, Yi Fang, Starbucks... so many things in the plaza to kill time if there's a wait.

It's a self-served location. The customers are usually disorganized. They need to hang a sign up that people need to clean up after themselves. The soba noodles is mediocre compared to their Inaba locations and Ichimiann location south of this location. The noodles came out warm. Wasabi is also not provided. The pros is no tips, but you only save a few bucks.

Really good soba and I thought it was nice they offered both zaru and kake soba! I went with the zaru + sashimi combo which also came with tempura and miso soup so you definitely get your moneys worth here! Plus the fish is nice and fresh! The service is was also very nice and there was a lot of parking. I'd say come early though because it is a small restaurant and definitely gets packed around dinner time.

My new favorite traditional Japanese lunch spot! The combos here are the way to go. You can pick any soba/udon and a small bowl. They have so many noodle options available and many unique ones! I got the Banbanji noodles which are cold soba with sesame broth and chicken with hot chilli oil. Absolutely delicious! I've never had anything like it either. The tempura was fresh and crisp and the service was very fast. You order at a counter and can sit in the back. There is self serve water and tea. Great place for a casual lunch. Would recommend!

TL;DR - can't go wrong with their soba or udon here! Fast and friendly service. Been back countless times! Always a good time at ichimi ann! Their known for their soba. They also serve very delicious udon if that's what you'd like. Cold? Hot? They got them both and do it very well. I've been back here countless times and I always enjoy their cold soba (the one where you dip into a cup of dipping sauce). If you'd like, you can get their combo which comes with a bowl of rice with its own protein (e.g. katsu). They're very fast and preparing your food. It's always delicious. Hot water, tea, etc is complimentary. Ambiance is nice and quiet so it's easy to have a conversation. Not related to the food but watch your step on the way in. From the side walk to the door is an abrupt elevation in the concrete and I trip every single time lol

I bought two of their shirts. Because I like their shirts. I like their tempura too. It's best consumed through the mouth where the tongue is.

I've been to the other location and I recently realized that this location was really close to me so we went around 11:45 for Sunday lunch. When we walked in, there was only one other group but the place quickly filled up. I got the sansai soba with tempura and my husband got zaru soba with eel don. Everything was just perfect. Very authentic. The soba noodles were cooked perfectly. The dashi was perfect and the tororo was fresh. My dish also came with sansai gonna so that was nice. It can feel a bit expensive but I think it's worth it if you're craving authentic amazing soba.

Visited here on a Sunday evening for dinner and there was no wait! Parking is ample inside a lot. There were a few Japanese customers inside so I could already tell it would be authentic. We opted to get the salmon sushi combo and a small tempura to share. We chose to get the udon with the combo. Their udon here is very different since it's more like firm Chinese noodles but the flavor and texture was actually really nice and I enjoyed it. The salmon was also very fresh and delicious! Tempura was a bit lacking in taste but the dip helps. Would definitely recommend this!

Soba 3/5 I may have just gotten a rushed batch since I came during peak lunch hours. It was extra starchy. But the sauce was good and cold Tempura 5/5 this was the best tempura batter I've ever had. I know a lot of people like Tendon Tempura but I think here it was way better. It was seasoned so well and the crispness was perfect

Ichimi Ann is a local Japanese spot in the Rolling Hills plaza! This spot sits in a tiny corner, so you would never even notice it if you weren't looking. But the food turned out really good! I especially liked how yummy my Mushroom Udon was. The udon is a different texture than what I usually get, as it is flat. The service was super friendly, like I was going to a friend's house, and the interior was cozy. All of this fit the vibe of a very casual Japanese home cooked meal. Overall, Ichimi Ann was a very solid Japanese spot for authentic, home cooked styled food.

    Sashimi Tempura COMBO x2

Ichimi Ann's Tempura Sashimi Udon Combo was a Sensational meal that sent my taste buds to Japanese heaven. My girlfriend and I came about an hour before close on a Friday. Their hostess/waitress greeted us and promptly sat us inside the restaurant . It only had indoor seating in a corner spot that features chich wooden Japanese design elements, and serviced by a friendly and efficient staff. The wheat soba and thicker udon noodles i believe are made in-house and can be served in cold or hot broth. Both broths are strong umami tasting, light, and plenty of noods portioned. We did 2 combos together which came with nice plates of sashimi, ginger, soy sauce, wasabi, and dipping sauce for the flaky tempura. Their kitchen plated the combos perfectly. Everything came out looking appetizing and certainly lived up to its presentation. The raw fish was nice, chunky, and so fresh. Absolutely delicious. The fish was a great protein sampler with Tuna, Yellow tail, Salmon. Each was a perfect pair with the fumey wasabi, crunchy powerful ginger, and small splash of soy sauce. Each bite was a delight, very filling yet felt light and refreshing... And also on the combo lineup was their thin crisp tempura which had shrimp and mixed veggies. They were great crispy textures, sweet with their dipping sauce and I loved how it paired with the broth of the noodle soup. The plate was epic. Overall their attention to ingredients and quality kitchen staff served flavors that curated a spectacular experience for my girlfriend and I. I couldn't wait to leave a review for anyone thinking about trying this restaurant. If you have a craving for authentic Japanese cuisine this spot won't disappoint. I loved my dining experience and would certainly consider returning when in the area again.

As of Nov 5, how many tables do they have for outside dining and how many people does each table seat?

Are any of the broths vegan-friendly? Aka no fish sauce or eggs? Is the vegetable tempura vegan-friendly?

I would call them the menu had mostly pork items in broth I do not recall any with out meat The tempura did have veggie options but I doubt it was fried separate from the shrimp

My friend and I ordered the pork belly, chicken meatball, quail egg, chicken thigh with green onion, fried tofu, zucchini, fried onigiri (grilled rice ball), and the potato (with butter). There were also specials off menu - we tried the chicken sasami which was incredibly tender. All the skewers were seasoned so well and the charcoal made a huge difference in the experience. We did pair our proteins with the onigiri and potato which filled us up. There were condiments to complement the skewers - Japanese spice powder, yuzu kosho, vinegar, and soy sauce. I pretty much had the yuzu kosho with everything. I'm not sure if there was something wrong with their AC, but it was quite hot in there! The dining room is relatively small, with roughly 10 to 15 tables, and the two employees working the floor were hustling all evening and did a genuinely nice job taking care of everyone. The food itself was solid. The standout dish of the night was actually the grilled asparagus, which came with a soy-based preparation that was absolutely outstanding, perfectly tender and cooked just right. The wedge salad was also very good, and both the 16oz ribeye@$86, and the 8oz filet mignon @$76 were well prepared and enjoyable. Where things became more complicated for me was the overall value proposition. The prices are undeniably steep, especially for Lomita. Whenever I dine somewhere upscale, I inevitably ask myself whether, for the same money, I would have rather gone somewhere else. In this case, the answer was yes. I was also a bit disappointed to discover that there is no full bar. The restaurant seems to steer guests toward wine and sake, with only a handful of beer options available. Unfortunately, the first two beers I ordered, an IPA and then a Modelo, both on the menu, both out of stock, which certainly didn't help my overall impression. The dining room itself felt somewhat drab, all black walls, and lacked the refinement that I would expect at this price point. Dark walls and a crystal chandelier create an interesting contrast, but small details stood out for the wrong reasons. For example, I noticed exposed holes in the bar where a purse hook or latch had apparently been relocated. It may seem minor, but details like that matter when you're charging premium prices. At the end of the night, my wife and I walked out more than $300 lighter. While the food was undeniably good and the service was attentive, the experience simply didn't feel like a $300 evening to us. Overall, The Food Library delivers quality food and hardworking service, but for the price, I left wishing the atmosphere and overall experience matched the bill a bit more closely.

The sushi rolls, cucumber salad were great. The regular dinner salad was ok. Ramen and other dishes were good. They have privacy curtains in each booth which adds a nice touch. The overall experience is good but i would have like the wow factor to extend towards the cuisine.

We walked in right on time for our reservation (because we're adults who respect the space-time continuum) and were ushered into a booth with "privatey" curtains. I'm not saying they'd hide you from the FBI, but they certainly provided enough cover for us to giggle and navigate stupidly through the menu. You can also order directly to a friendly human too. The atmosphere is colorful, lively, unstuffy, and private enough to enjoy good convo but not awko quiet. You order everything via an iPad, which is dangerous because when pictures of gyoza are staring you in the face, your impulse control vanishes. We ordered "a little bit of everything," which is code for "the table was structurally compromised by the weight of our dinner." * The Highlights: The pickled cucumbers (crisp enough to hear in the next county), the pork bowl, and sushi that actually tasted like it came from the ocean. The Fluids: Cold Asahi and Lemon Chu-His. Highly recommended if you enjoy being happy. The Verdict This spot is a unicorn--it works for kids, first dates, or "290th dates" where you both just want to stare at an iPad and eat kimchi in a tent. The Heartbreak They have a "10-Second Hit It" game at the front door where you can win a free meal. We were this close. We didn't win, but we're definitely going back to seek revenge.

I personally had the Hamburg Steak with Ponzu Dinner plate. It came with Miso Soup, Fresh Salad with a very refreshing sauce, the Hamburg Steak, and a side of rice. I also got a taste of the pork katsu curry and it was nice and flavorful. Overall, absolutely amazing flavors and well worth the price. Bussin bussin fr fr Service was so quick, we got our food very quickly. We already had miso within a couple of minutes and salad showed up as soon as i finished my miso soup. The server was very sweet and checked in on us to male sure everything was going well. We came in and there were a couple of groups already in the establishment and there was another couple and a regular that came in. There is ample space to sit and eat. Regardless of the amount of people in the establishment, the ambiance was atill relaxing and calm. No music, but I personally enjoyed that as i think it encourages light conversation.

But once inside it was crowded, lovely and electric. We were fortunate to be seated at a vacant table without a wait. It was obvious this was a hidden well-attended gem. I had the Stir Fried Clams in Garlic Butter Broth and my guest dined with the Stir Fried Pork & Cabbage in Garlic-Pepper Sauce. These were very reasonably priced main dishes and were excellently presented. Both had a lovely aroma and exquisite taste. My dish had a unique, wonderful taste and certainly didn't need any extra sauces or seasoning. It was more than adequate as a complete meal (although we sid have appetizers). My first and I had a great time dining here and will definitely return. Parking is easy. There is a small parking area just outside the restaurant as well as an enormous parking area very nearby. The parking lot is shared by several business including a CPK but there was plenty of room to park. This restaurant has my unconditional endorsement.
