I was searching for some homestyle cooking in the area and stumbled upon this restaurant. It was empty when I went in on a weekend at 6pm, which set me off a bit. I ordered stingray fin, corn tempura, and a hamburg steak. The stingray fin came first and wow it had a nice chewiness and salinity. Rare to find a restaurant in LA area that serves it and was a nice appetizer. The corn tempura was crispy and was prepared well as its individual grains. The star was definitely the hamburg steak which was a 1 inch patty the size of a small appetizer plate alone. The hamburg steak was ridiculously juicy and meaty with my spoon being able to split it pretty cleanly. The sauce was rich, going well with the veggies and rice. Overall, incredible food that wasn't as expensive as I was expecting. I'm more surprised that the restaurant was empty given how tasty the food was. The interior is like a lil mom and pop Japanese restaurant too. I'd come back whenever I'm in the area.

So good!! My family and I came here on a Thursday night for dinner. Service was excellent. We got the tempura set & katsudon. Flavor of the katsu was tasty but the meat was a bit tough. The tempura had to be my favorite. I loved the shiso leaf tempura. Portions are small for the price but quality of food is great. Super tasty!

I ordered an assorted tempura set! It comes with miso soup and rice on the side! Everything tasted great, but their portions are small especially for the price. If you're a big eater, I'm not sure if I would recommend this place. I wish they put more veggies on the plate.

The Hamburg Steak was really good! I would highly recommend it. We will definitely come back here.

Trying it out for the first time. We got a tempura lunch and a beef tongue lunch. Both came with miso soup and rice. Tempura 5/5 the portion was generous and tasty. Beef tongue 3/5. It was not soft and hard to chew. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking in the lot.

One of the most authentic Japanese tempura shop around. I know people praised for the tempura Carlos in old town Torrance but this is more legit in terms of taste as well as quality is far more superior. This is your neighborhood mom and pop shop hole in the wall style. They have odd opening hours and it's hard to dine without reservations in dinner hour but still worth it. You are dining with the local Japanese business men and families. Their signature kakiage don is a must have. Also hamburger steak is their popular item too. I would also explore the specials that is placed on the wall.

The food was delicious and tasty here. Ordered the Stingray Fin, Vinegared Jellyfish & Cucumber, Corn Tempura and Broiled Beef Tongue w/ Grated Yam. There was one lady taking care of all the tables that night and she was on point. Drinks and food were served quick. The restaurant was inviting and cozy for a Japanese Izakaya. Clean bathrooms too. Would definitely come back here to dine if we happen to be passing by Torrance.

This place is a hidden gem in Torrance. A small mom & pop place with some delicious food! We ordered a variety of foods from the Tempura Combo, Black Pork Cutlet (Tonkatsu) with Starchy Egg, Hamburg steak, Miso Flavored Broiled Cod (appetizer) & Ribeye Beef Steak w/Stamina Sauce. While all were good, the dishes that stood out were the Hamburg Steak, Ribeye and Miso Cod. This was the only place (out of many) that took reservations for a large party. Ayumi was excellent at getting our orders correct and serving us in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good, homey Japanese cuisine.

I came here during lunch with some coworkers and my first impression upon stepping in was that this is definitely a an authentic Japanese mom and pop restaurant. We ordered from the lunch menu and I got the black pork steak with stamina sauce combo. It was definitely delicious if not a little small. They had a sign out from mentioning that service might be slow due to the chef's eyesight but the food came out at a reasonable speed and the waitress was attentive as well. I would want to come back at dinner to see what that menu looks like.

My first time here. Didn't even know about it This is traditional home -style, simple Japanese food in a casual setting. I ordered the Eel with Egg which was prepared perfectly. The egg was cooked just right and not overdone. This place seems popular with the local regulars. Parking in the lot.

Small, family owned restaurant that seats maybe 36ppl. One chef, one server at the time that we went on a Saturday night so it took a little bit for our orders to come out. Server also did not check up on us nor refilled water glasses. But the food came out hot, fresh and tasty.

It's been a few years since I last came here. Food is still great as it used to be. I love that the tempura batter is super light. We ordered a pork katzu bowl, a tempura bowl, and boiled fish bowl.

The restaurant is spotlessly clean, well-organized, and welcoming--everything feels fresh and well cared for. The food quality is outstanding. Every dish is packed with flavor, clearly made with high-quality ingredients, and tastes authentic and thoughtfully prepared. Nothing felt rushed or sloppy--each bite showed consistency and care. Whether it was the meats, sides, or sauces, everything was on point. What really elevates the experience, though, is the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They were happy to answer questions, made great recommendations, and made us feel comfortable the entire time. You can tell they truly care about their customers, not just the service. If you're looking for amazing Korean food, a clean and comfortable environment, and top-tier hospitality, this spot is a must-visit. We'll definitely be coming back--and bringing friends with us. Highly recommend

There are TVs inside and booths and tables around the restaurant. We ordered at the front but I think you can also sit and have your order taken at your table. The waitress was really nice and helpful. She brought out extra sauces we asked for, refilled our water often, and even turned on the ac for us when my MIL mentioned it was hot inside. We got a beef katsu plate, chicken katsu sandwich with fries, and a calamari app. The chicken katsu sandwich was my favorite with delicious crispy waffle fries. The chicken was thin and kept its crisp. It came with katsu sauce, pickles, and a slaw on the sandwich that made it moist and not too dry. It was really good and a bit messy. The beef katsu was like a hamburger breaded with panko. I was expecting more of a gyuKatsu but that's probably a bit too fancy for a place like this. I got it with the curry sauce which comes in either mild or spicy. I liked the freshness of the daikon and salad with the fried katsu patty. I wish the curry had some vegetables or something but overall I enjoyed the meal. The portions were a good size and it wasn't too expensive. I would definitely come back for another sandwich and maybe to try a sando sometime.

The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but it has a really nice, cozy decor with cool Japanese characters on the walls. We went with their popular tempura combo paired with cold udon, and also grabbed a shrimp tempura roll. Everything was amazing! These guys absolutely know what they are doing when it comes to tempura, it's always perfectly light, crispy, and delicious. The service was also fantastic, super efficient, quick, and friendly from start to finish. Plus, having a parking lot in the back makes coming here totally stress-free. Worth the wait? I don't think so…read more After hearing so much hype about this place, I had to see what all the fuss was about. People talk about waiting 45 minutes to over an hour just to get a table, especially on weekends, so I decided to come during lunch instead. Luckily, the place was almost empty, which made for an easy visit. Going in, my expectations were high. Since I'm allergic to shrimp, I let the staff know and ordered the beef bowl and tempura combo instead. At around $20, I wasn't expecting cheap fast food, but I was expecting something that justified the price. The tempura was easily the highlight of the meal. It was light, crispy, and fried well, especially paired with the dipping sauce. If there's one reason I'd give this place any credit, it's the tempura sauce. The chicken tempura, however, was a different story. The coating was crispy, but the chicken itself was incredibly bland. It tasted like plain boiled chicken that happened to get dipped in tempura batter. The beef bowl was even more disappointing. Honestly, it reminded me of a Yoshinoya beef bowl--except it cost more than twice as much and came with a noticeably smaller portion. That's a comparison I never expected to make at a restaurant with this kind of reputation. The service didn't do much to elevate the experience either. Considering how slow it was during lunch, I expected a little more attentiveness, but it felt pretty average from start to finish. As for the atmosphere...it was fine. Nothing particularly memorable, nothing that made me think, "I need to come back." Maybe I ordered the wrong items. That's always possible. But based on this visit, I just don't understand the hype. The food was decent--not terrible--but nowhere near worth the long waits, the price, or the reputation it seems to have built. If you happen to be nearby and there's no line, sure, give it a try. But if you're planning to wait an hour because everyone says it's a must-visit, I honestly think you can skip it and won't feel like you missed out. Buyer please be aware.

Today we decided to revisit the restaurant for old time's sake. Inside, the main wall was repainted with a new mural. The annual LA Marathon posters, pinned by the staff who participated in the events, were also gone. Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. We found out the reason why while exiting the restaurant: The young cook from two decades ago is now running the open kitchen as head chef. Great food and still reasonable prices. It was totally worth revisiting.
