    Krunch Box
    Mark M.

I miss the Krispy Krunchy Chicken that was on Torrance Blvd & Hawthorne Blvd, but which closed more than a year ago. This new location in the Harbor Corridor of Los Angeles is located inside the Chevron gas station at the corner of Torrance Blvd & Western Ave. I tried the 4 Piece Krunch Box, which comes with four pieces of chicken, a wing, a thigh, a drumstick, and my pick of one more of those three (I chose another thigh). It comes with a biscuit and you get one side order of Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Mac & Cheese, Jambalaya, or Red Beans & Rice. I got there towards the end of their day and unfortunately they had run out of all the sides, but they did substitute potato wedges. The chicken was crispy, no surprise, and the meat was juicy. The previous location that I had visited was in a liquor store and this location is in a gas station, but they manage to properly cook the chicken just as well as any sit-down chicken place. There is a very mild spice level, so little that I didn't really notice it, but it had a slight Cajun flavor. I like the chicken here. The biscuit was rather dry, as were the potatoes, but that's not much of surprise as they'd probably been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. The people working here were friendly and they did double duty as they not only took care of the chicken orders but they also managed the gas pumps and in-store transactions.

For gas station fried chicken, it's pretty darn good! I've had KKC before. They're pretty popular in NorCal, now in SoCal. 5.99 you get thigh, wing, leg and a handful of potato wedges. I also added a half dozen biscuits. Chicken is crispy and moist and potato wedges lightly seasoned. Biscuits, lightly buttered, crisp outer and moist inner. Squeeze a little honey on top and you'll kill em! KKC is not gourmet, but it's definitely good, basic, consistent fried chicken.

Tried this for the first time. It is definitely crispy and crunchy, with a little kick of spice. The value of this two piece box is worth it! Comes with a biscuit and a side of either red beans & rice, mashed potatoes & gravy, jambalaya, or macaroni & cheese. Cost is $7.99 for this meal. Service is great as it is located inside a Chevron gas station store.

The chicken wasn't that good here. I've had it other places and it's great usually. It was a bit dry and didn't seem fresh.

Grabbed some beignets to go, but kicking myself for not getting the peach cobbler one last time. But will miss the southern hospitality, generosity the owners Lisa & Steve have given to the community. Not just in sponsorships but in their parking lot parties which always showcased great local bands and putting on one hell of a free show for the customers! Their food was always the best this side of the Mississippi and their hospitality the same! Can't wait to see their rebranding and have the same comfort flavors of home!

A Bittersweet Farewell to a South Bay Icon! I've been coming here (well first in Hermosa then…read moretheir food truck now here) for their entire 31+ years! I couldn't let Ragin' Cajun Cafe close its current chapter without one last visit for that authentic Louisiana soul food. This place has been such a staple in Redondo Beach and South Bay and while I'm sad to see the "Cafe" era end, I'm also excited for what's next - it's sure to be a hit! What I had to say goodbye one last time!? * Seafood Bisque: This was incredibly rich and velvety, as always. You can tell they don't ever skimp on the seafood--it was packed with flavor and the perfect way to start the meal. * Hush Puppies: Golden, crispy, and exactly what a hush puppy should be. They have that slightly sweet cornmeal interior that pairs so well with their savory dishes. Always worth adding! * Combo Jambalaya Plate: A massive portion and pure comfort. The spices were spot on--bold but not overwhelming--and every bite was loaded with meat and perfectly cooked rice. My goto comfort... The Next Chapter: For anyone worried about losing these flavors: don't panic! While Ragin' Cajun is closing, the owner and chef are reopening very soon in the same spot as Redondo Beach Grill. It's the same team and the same talent, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they evolve the menu while keeping that local heart alive. Their email to followers says they will keep a few menu items as well (doesn't say which ones!?) Thank you to the entire crew for years of amazing meals and hospitality. These flavors WILL be missed!! See you at the new, well, same spot (new name and decor!?)

We normally order the sea snails in the coconut sauce, filet mignon noodles and also the combo with Dungeoness crab. All great! There is something about the sauce or flavor where I can't stop eating, even though I know I'm full and shouldn't be eating anymore, but I just can't help it. The seafood is always fresh. They give you salt, pepper and lots of lemons to make your own dipping sauce. This is great, because if you know, you know, this place is legit for us Viets. They also provide additional sauce for dipping if that's not your thing. I'd love to gate keep this place, but I need this place to be around for a long, long time because there's no other place that compares to this place, IMHO.

It's been a minute since I've have had a seafood boil and man was this place was worth the wait!!…read more I came with a friend on a Wednesday night and thankfully it wasn't too busy. As for food we got the Combo 2 and our choices were shrimp, clams and snow crab. We went with the Torpedo sauce for our boil cause it was a mixture of all their other sauces (garlic butter, classic cajun and lemon pepper) and we got it at a medium spice level. And oh boy oh boy did it set our mouths on fire but in the best way possible!! The sauce was everything we wanted it to be, spicy, savory, garlicky, tangy and just pure indulgence. To calm the heat though we also got cajun fries, rice, Thai tea and Jasmine milk tea. Sharing a meal with a friend is always nice but sharing a meal with a friend here is great. I believe food is the ultimate uniter and I'm happy we chose to go here!! My one and only con is just the location because it was a bit sketchy especially at night but the food and service was so good I think it's still worth it to go.
