Made a special trip here for dinner and had a really enjoyable night. The sashimi was definitely the highlight. Everything tasted very fresh, and the quality of the fish was excellent. I also ordered the hamachi kama, which was cooked really well, although I thought the seasoning was a little mild. They do give you sauce on the side, but I personally would have liked a little more flavor on the fish itself. I also had a bottle of Dassai 45 Junmai Daiginjo, which was really good and went perfectly with the sashimi. I sat at the sushi bar and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff was very polite and attentive, and I could hear the sushi chefs speaking Japanese behind the counter, which gave the place a very authentic and professional feel. I ordered quite a bit of food and my bill was around $85 before tip, or about $100 total. For the quality of the food and the overall experience, I thought the price was very reasonable. Overall, a great dinner and a very pleasant evening. I'd definitely come back again.

Came here after Sunday service with my sisters. We were completely in shock of how beautiful it was and how we were greeted immediately and with so much care. We sat at a booth. Let me say the customer service was phenomenal. Very attentive and always checking in at the right time. Reason for taking off one star was because the food could have been better. Unfortunately we have had better but I'll give credit where it's due. Service and how clean and the waiters were AMAZING. We ordered the tonkotsu some sushi. I might consider going back but wish food was a little better.

Gave Mom a few options: Japanese, Vietnamese or Italian food for lunch? She went for Japanese. "I haven't had Japanese curry in awhile." Great choice, because like her, been a minute since I've had that, too! We were about 20 minutes away, so I jumped on the Yelp waitlist (just to make sure we were seated ASAP since we were hangry!) Luckily, plenty of tables open when we arrived so we were seated immediately. I got the chance to look at their menu beforehand so I had an idea what I wanted. Mom went for what her palate desired. While waiting, we noticed their "Buy a beer, sake or soju, get a secret menu item for free" sign. (Mondays to Thursdays only.) We were curious, so, why not. It's a nicely decorated restaurant, almost as if we were transported somewhere in Japan for a meal. (I've never been, but I imagine the decor is close.) Didn't notice any clutter or mess. Floors were clean. Always a plus! CORN TEMPURA: This was the secret menu that went with the beer. Honestly, I am not a fan of corn kernels, but tried it anyway. Flavor of the batter was tasty enough to overcome that corn essence, so it worked out well for me. (I'm sure corn fans would disagree.) I only took two small bites, though, because the corn flavor started coming through more than I preferred. But not bad for a freebie! SOFT SHELLED CRABS: Deep fried, a must-have whenever I see it on the menu. Made to order HOT, batter was thin enough so it doesn't overwhelm the crabs' overall flavor. This was PERFECT. It didn't need the dip, it was great as it was. Great crisp, great flavor, RECOMMENDING. SPANISH MACKEREL: Also a must-have whenever I see it on a Japanese restaurant's menu. Good salt and vinegar level with a very tiny hint of sweet. Fish was fresh. Another good starter and palate cleanser. BENTO BOX LUNCH: I chose the pork cutlet with 2 sides: calamari and shrimp with vegetable tempura and although it already came with katsu sauce, I too, asked for a side of curry sauce (for a teenee upcharge.) I was a bit overwhelmed when my box arrived since I didn't account for the soup and the salad that went with it - it was a ton of food! Salad was fresh with good amount of Japanese dressing. Miso soup was hot and seasoned perfect. Tempura shrimp (2pcs) was a bit undercooked, but not raw, still delicious. Tempura vege was perfect. Rice was warm and fluffy. They gave a generous amount of calamari that I thought they messed up and gave us a full order vs. a side. Not only is it a lot, it's delicious. Good crisp, good chew, great flavor. I loved loved LOVED my bento box! Mom also enjoyed her brewski and her pork cutlet curry. As mentioned earlier, they are generous with their servings so we had plenty of leftovers for a second meal. (I ended up sharing it with Hubbers who enjoyed it as well.) FOOD: 5. We liked everything. SERVICE: 5. Jasmine was perfect - friendly, service with a smile, she was available when needed even after it got crowded. She was efficient with her time and made sure she gave every table the attention it required and deserved. VALUE: 5. Quality and quantity. More than worth it! PARKING: Private lot shared with others. Not an issue when we came through on mid-week lunch rush. OVERALL: 5. They are popular - most of the tables were occupied by the time we left. Good for them. Hubbers liked our takeout so much and said I should take him there sometime. The answer to that, of course, is a definite: YES. Looking forward to that second visit.

Like this place! Service is normal, sushi is good, environment is great. Umami roll - very good. Mango Night Roll - even better! I've gotten this a few times and love it. Pico and mango on top is a great flavor. Comes w miso soup and salad which makes it a great deal. The environment is decorated adorably, there met the Japanese theme. Price is fair compared to other sushi restaurants in the area, not over $20 mostly which I appreciate. Will go back !

This is the go to spot for Japanese food in Paramount. The food, don't get me started - I love the spicy ramen & bento boxes, so many options for the entree & sides. The beef bulgogi, salmon teriyaki are so good as well as the tempura. Every time I come they greet me at door, remember my family and are quick to get our order started. The service - amazing, fast & always spot on. This is a must visit spot, ask for Yani & Anderson.

First of all the vibe of this restaurant is so adorable! Makes me feel like I'm back in Kyoto! The food always 10 out of 10! And the staff is so amazing! I've been coming here for years now and Anderson, Yami, Daniel, Chris, all the staff is so kind and knowledgeable of the menu! I don't like leaving reviews unless the place or staff is exceptional and I can honestly say they both are! Will definitely continue to recommend to everyone!

On a lovely Saturday evening, my boyfriend and I visited Japanese Castle. We arrived around 8:00 PM and only waited about 15 minutes. The interior design was well put together. I really appreciate restaurants that build an immersive experience beyond just the menu. The lighting was dim, which set a great mood, and the music selection was impressively diverse. Now for the food: I ordered the Baked Salmon Roll (4/5) and the Hot Pepper Chicken (3/5). I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce on the chicken and was hoping for a crispier texture, but the Miso Soup was absolutely delicious. The servers wear light-up name tags, which is a brilliant touch and made it so easy to remember who was taking care of us! I'll def be back to try other menu items.

Walked in and was advised to wait 20-30 minutes. We were given a choice to sit at the sushi bar as there was open seating. Even though we sat at the sushi bar the waitress comes ans takes your order. We ordered Spicy Edamam as an appetizer, the inside was cold so I decided to have a cup of Hot Tea, no real sugar here, only artificial packs, no good. The sushi was pretty good, the beer even better.Lol.Service was good. Will be back if Im in the area.

This restaurant is the best kept secret of paramount! Amazing ambience delicious food and authentic decore. Service is always on point and you always leave satisfied. Been coming here for many years take it from me!

Bento plate

Food was amazing and atmosphere was a vibe!! Yani went above and beyond! We had a cup spill over and he was so helpful with cleaning. Truly a good soul! The food was filled and I could barely finish the plate and absolutely took the rest to go. 10/10 would return again.

Big, clean restaurant. Fast, friendly, and attentive service. The food was wonderful. Everything was really fresh and flavorful. We had a couple of rolls, a bento box and a big salad. They have the best miso soup I've ever had. The prices are decent and we left satisfied.

I came here with a friend to eat a late lunch and it was our first time here. It's a nice restaurant with great ambiance and the food was pretty good, BUT the service could've been better. When we were done eating, we've waited hoping a server would pass by, but I had to go to the front to let them know we were done. My friend said she'd come back again. As for me, I'll think about it.

We arrived around 5:30 PM and were able to find parking in the small lot behind the restaurant. We entered through the back hallway, which leads into the dining area. The restaurant has an open-concept layout, and there were only a couple of other tables occupied when we arrived. The staff was friendly, and the menu offered a decent variety of sushi, sashimi, and appetizers. We ordered a variety of dishes and gave several items a try. I respect the restaurant's current 4.3 star Yelp rating, so my three-star review is simply based on our personal experience, with most of my feedback focused on the food. For us, the sushi was just okay--nothing particularly stood out. The biggest issue was the amount of rice in the rolls. The rolls were quite thick and filling, which made it difficult to sample as much as we wanted. In addition, the garlic edamame was over steamed. Tasted like they were frozen. That said, we still managed to make it through three rounds and left with full bellies! I've attached several photos of some of the dishes we tried. Overall, this is a good little neighborhood sushi spot for those looking for something casual and don't want to venture too far. We left satisfied and enjoyed trying something different. I definitely recommend giving it a try and forming your own opinion. For us, though, we'll likely return to our regular sushi restaurant.

We had been there once before and being that we were new at that time, we had asked alot of questions to make sure we ordered correctly for the AYCE. They had told us then that it was unlimited and that we get new papers when needed (only has room for 3 rounds on there). But last night's experience was really frustrating. It started out nice and we paced ourselves, only ordering 2 rolls, edamame, and miso one round and 2 rolls and a jalapeño bomb the next. But when it came to our 3rd round, we only ordered one roll and more miso soup. They never brought us the miso soup but they did bring the roll. We wanted to order one more time, just to get the miso finally and my husband wanted a small roll while I wanted another jalapeño bomb (its small, only one stuffed then cut in half) and that would be our last round since we're getting full. But they never came back to our table. When we flagged a waitress down, she was a bit rude and mentioned "last order" but I had taken it as she was repeating what we had said. When another waitress stopped by, she had asked if we wanted more, we said yes but needed another paper. She was confused and was able to get our old paper back but I told her there was no room for us to order more so she had us just write it on the side. But as soon as she handed it to the chef, the other waitress came running over and scolded us saying why did we get more and looked like she tried to stop it. She asked us we got and my husband had explained it was just the 2 items plus the missing miso soup. But the chef said it's ok, they can make it. She turned to us and said that was it and no more orders very harshly. We felt so embarrassed and confused. Especially since we had the AYCE and it was only 910 when they closed at 11 (though the door said midnight). We got our final order but it was pretty awkward and hard to enjoy. The same rude older waitress stopped by with the bill and picked it up asking a few times "ready?". When she brought us our receipt, she suddenly was nice and told us to have a nice night and a nice weekend. We were both visibly annoyed and but still polite, handed her a tip and she said thank you over and over. We then left and my husband said the other waitress had noticed how mad he was and might've said something to her. So sad to have had that experience, especially since we had such an amazing experience the first time. Not sure if we will be returning after that or at least for a while. Felt that we were Fat Shamed even though we weren't being gluttons. We did see the 90 minute limit but we had slightly slower service (nothing crazy but damn), and we weren't close to it when the rude waitress started her act. You can't just cap the service at 3 orders, especially if it wasn't big orders or not even close to the end of the 90 minutes.

Everything tasted fresh, especially the sashimi, which is ordered separately. The quality is excellent for the price, and the overall price is actually very reasonable compared to many other sushi restaurants in OC. There are many all-you-can-eat sushi places with huge menus, but sometimes there's not much you actually want to eat. This place is different. It was actually even better than I expected.

We came in around opening time on Saturday and we were the first customers! The place is very spacious and seems to be clean! Service was prompt! Fish was relatively fresh for all you can eat quality (lets not expect omakase quality here, okay?!) and the rice to fish ratio wasn't bad! I will say I do feel like the ratio isn't bad because the fish itself is sliced pretty thinly compared to other AYCE sushi spots. They have a good variety of appetizers as well, and of course the salmon and yellowtail collars are available at an additional charge - this seems to be the norm at most AYCE sushi places these days. My two only minor complaints is that in the photos, what I saw for seared salmon nigiri was not what we got. Perhaps it's a different style of sear but I was really craving the typical peppered sear...if I had known we were not getting that, I would have chosen a different spot. The no rice rolls were on the bigger side, so by the time I finished those, I was pretty much too full to order a second round. I really appreciate AYCE sushi places that also make the rolls smaller so you can try more things, but I understand that may be a business tactic to get you to eat less... For dessert, they give you a good scoop of ice cream! Green tea ice cream for me~ Overall, it's a solid spot! If I don't want to wait for the other popular ayce sushi spots in the area, I'd come here.
