I was really trying to give this place a chance. It's close to my house I drive by it all the time, however it's always seems to be empty. Now I know why! I go on a Thursday night at 6pm, walk in the place is empty. Cashier was neutral, not friendly not rude. Place my order for a chicken bowl. As I'm waiting I see the cook make my bowl and stick my bowl into the microwave! my food is sitting in the microwave as the cook is sweeping. I finally get my food and as to be expected food was cold, chicken was rubbery from the heating in the microwave the rice was cold and stiff and the teriyaki sauce was jelly like consistency. So I usually always research a place before trying it, either by reviews/suggestions/sm foodies. The one time I wing it I get a bad experience. Like all my reviews, this is solely based in the food and the food only. Priced are fair, their menu looks fun and inventive. But unfortunately the food was not giving same energy. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Burger Jays wat, also tried couple of the wing flavors. Chicken Burger: Very lack luster. Was waiting for the flavor to kick in and wake me up with a slap on the face, it never came. Chicken was very and over charred. Not charred in a good way that you can taste the smoky deliciousness, more literally overcooked the chicken. But the most disappointing thing was the teriyaki sauce. I was super stoked hoping it would taste great, since these locations have great reviews. Thought maybe it was a one off, but its the same sauce they use in all the Teriyaki items. Sauce has a nice thickness but lacks both sweetness and the umami-mess other places offer. Shoot Waba sayce tasted better. Smh. Wings did not save the meal, they were very dry and under-seasoned. I am glad other people enjoy it, however I dont think i will be back. Just a one-timer for me. You can get better quality, better tasting food down the road at Teriyaki House on Lakewood. read more

I went to go try this place and then I got the food which I thought was small like a child's portion. They are not cheap and does take time so if there's a line you have about 20 minutes. The teriyaki sauces is the same used at every Chinese restaurant in the USA. Small portion and looks like shrinkage on portion and large in price. Not worth going back !!! read more

It started off very nice, but as i was eating I bit into a piece of "meat" that was so hard and tough, there was no way it can be bit through. This happened to me three times in the same sandwich. The super tough pieces were not small either. These pieces were pretty large. I was unable to finish the sandwich because of these extremely tough pieces of "meat". It was actually pretty disgusting. I would have been able to overlook a single piece like that, but not three. I encountered the third piece half way through and I was unable to finish. It was gross. I will never return here ever again. There needs to be some quality control. This place is not cheap. For the price, I should not have had this experience. read more

And that Downey burger is typically not my kind of thing but I was surprised that it was savory and crunchy. Those loaded Superfries are a must. New teriyaki spot located in Bellflower saw some pictures and figured let's go check it out. Small place seems pretty clean inside with a decent menu like burgers, teriyaki, and wings to choose from. I ordered the large chicken teriyaki bowl, which was good .bigger chunks of chicken a little bit on the dry side, but I've had worse and my son ordered chicken teriyaki burger came with grilled pineapple, avocado, chicken breast, and some other veggies. I really wanted like this place because I like supporting small business, but the owner wasn't super friendly and kind of short on answers when we had questions. The other reason for the negative star is, he has Sriracha mayo on the table and some other sauces that definitely need to be refrigerated, mayo should not be left sitting on a table for days and days and days. My last visit was some time in July. I've gone twice, each time I was let down. I've tried the loaded fries, chicken wings, and teriyaki beef and chicken. For my taste, I felt the food was dry, overly cooked and salty. To me, the sauce and meats combined gave them an overwhelming salty flavor. I feel that it may be the teriyaki marinade possibly. Super pricey! If the food was better I guess you can justify it. However, I fed my family of 5 for a little under $120. Also, if my memory is correct there are extra charges for additional sauces; it'd be nice if a meal came with a sauce. Staff and seating were okay, nothing special or too nice about it. Not that my opinion may matter to some, but I believe there is a better option if you just drive an additional 5 minutes to the teriyaki house grill. Big portion and decently priced. read more

Me and my daughter went here a couple of weeks back the food was great service was great

First, we didn't get 15% discount for new customer even they had the sign up front . The male cashier didn't give us any discount ... very disappointing but we still tipped. Second, all 4 of us got 4 different plates and they were all disappointing. We couldn't even finish our food, especially fried fish. We probably had 4 bites and decided that we have had enough. Third, my husband came home and had diarrhea. Myself who is sensitive to " not clean" food had stomachache. Newly revamped establishment, everything looked modern and clean. We were looking for a go to place to get outstanding teriyaki chicken now that Rascal's shut down their CSULB location on Bellflower. Going by the reviews, we tried a takeout order at Teriyaki J's for a salmon plate and a chicken and steak plate. At pickup around 4:30 pm, the attentive staff was quick and had our order waiting for us as we entered. While the portion size was good, unfortunately for us, the taste and texture was not. The sauce was okay, but seemingly straight from a bottle recipe and the salmon was okay but the steak was low grade and the chicken felt precooked and reheated (rubbery). The overall taste was just okay so we rate it "okay". We will continue our quest for good takeaway teriyaki. read more
