And for those curious minds, they do cook in extra virgin olive oil. Their portions are very generous for the price you pay. When we arrived to order in person, we noticed an article printed and posted on the glass near the register as an award winning dish. It was the Green Olive plate. It looked so delicious, we both had to order it. They also have so many good looking desserts in the refrigerator case out front. So smart! We went for dinner the other night. You will find ample parking available. The restaurant itself is small yet charming. We got several side orders to start. The kibbi is a blend of filet mignon with spices and stuffed into wheat balls. They are then flash fried and served with a tzatziki sauce. Think of it like a crispy meatball. So delicious. We also got the Mediterranean style potatoes. They take sliced potatoes, fry them and then top them with feta cheese, oregano and extra virgin olive oil. The feta cheese elevates this to another level. So simple and so delicious delicious. For our mains we got the lamb chop platter and the whole chicken platter. You get 4 lamb chops marinated in virgin olive oil and spices. They are grilled to order. You also get rice pilaf, sautéed mushrooms and a fattouche salad. Such a high quality dish in a casual dining restaurant. The whole chicken platter does take a half hour to make but it is so worth it. The chicken soaks for 24 hours in a Mediterranean lemon-garlic marinade. It is then grilled and served with rice pilaf, hummus and a fresh green salad. Such a filling meal. For dessert we got the rice pudding and the baklava. Easily one of the better rice puddings. The baklava is by far the best version I have ever had. So light and flaky and so nice and sweet. (5/5) Mediterranean Style Potatoes - Never had potatoes this way and it was worth trying out. It's delicious (4/5) Kibbi (Stuffed Meat Ball) - Never heard of this before but I liked it. A little on the dryer side but flavors were very tasty. (4/5) Baba - This came with pita bread. Never had it before but I think I prefer hummus better. Not bad though. (3.5/5) Green Olive Platter - Gives you a little everything. Liked this dish especially if you don't know what to order. Everything was cooked well. (4.5/5) Gyro Platter - Gyro was flavorful and I liked all the sides it came with. Rice was solid. (4.5/5) Lamb Kebab Wrap - The wrap was super tasty. Lamb was cooked well and everything stayed together. Can't go wrong. (4.5/5) Baklava - A simple classic and it taste like what you'd want from a baklava. It's sweet and good. (4.5/5) Overall a solid Mediterranean spot if you're on the go or just want a good bite. Good food, reasonably pricing, and friendly service. Definitely a checkout in Downey. It was so good I got extra to go lol Service was fast and easy, you order and pay first then they bring it out to you! I got Green Olive Combo Platter since I want to try everything! I stopped in here on a weekday at lunchtime, and the place was very crowded. That's actually a good sign as that means it must be good. I ordered the gyro platter which goes for $16.99. It was a plentiful meal and I thought the food was tasty. Because of the crowd, the place was very noisy and hectic inside. They also have some outdoor tables, which I thought works out better since it's more peaceful and not so noisy. I will definitely go back, but next time I think it would be much more enjoyable at a quieter time. read more

This place is always busy and I am here for it. Sometimes they are behind on orders but by the photos of the kitchen, you can tell it's not from a lack of trying. The interior is pretty small but they have an outdoor seating area that is pretty nice. The food is a tad expensive but it's always good. One of the few places that I will repeatedly order the lamb chops. read more
