Pita GR surprised me a little bit. They are highly rated on Yelp but FOOD So far, I've tried the Beef/lamb gyro Pita and the Braised Lamb Pita. The protein, fries, pita, and other ingredients were all great. I don't have any complaints. Both were good but the Braised Lamb surprised me. It's not commonly offered at other restaurants and it was really tender and flavorful. SERVICE Friendly and good INSIDE There's a good number of seats and tables inside. It's comfy. The restroom is kind of strange. Not sure if the door locks. PARKING Shared, large parking in the rear. All of the stores here have a somewhat unique set up. The buildings are all up next to the street side. Only the sidewalk is between the shops and the street.

I was craving a frozen yogurt and noticed this place sells it! I ordered the frozen yogurt and This is the best frozen yogurt I have ever had! I usually like eating Greek yogurt because of the taste and the frozen yogurt doesn't taste like it's artificial! I taste like Greek yogurt, frozen! The service is fast and the ambience is really cute.

Came here again and the food was awesome! Plenty food for the amount you pay. The tempura zucchini is seriously the best I've had! Hands down. Service was good. I did have to wait a bit to get my takeout order, but the people were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. Plenty of seating for those who want to eat there and even had some outdoor seating as well.

This is a really great place. I've had pita fast pita. This pita is Great. On this visit I had the lamb pita. It's comes with a side of fries. Take a turn away from the normal burger and fries. This is an awesome change from the normal fast food lunch or even dinner. The service is top notch. So helpful if you aren't sure what you want. The ambiance is nice with Greek music in the air. Overall well priced.

I spotted this place while driving to See's Candies and decided to give it a try, so glad I did. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was on point. We were greeted right away, and the whole place had a warm, welcoming, homey vibe. The menu selection is solid. We ordered the beef gyro and the chicken souvlaki plate. The beef gyro was very tasty, the meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The chicken souvlaki was also delicious, but the real standout for me was the hummus. It's made in-house, and you can absolutely tell, creamy, warm, and honestly one of the best hummus dishes I've had. It even brought back memories of Papa Cristo back in Mid-City LA, that's how good it was. If you're craving quality Mediterranean food, don't pass this gem up.

I went to Pita GR since I really needed lunch before a doctor's appointment that was in the same plaza and have been on a Mediterranean kick lately. I decided to give the Lamb Gyro Street Style a try. The portion size was okay. The meat was dry and not much flavor. I probably should have asked for more tzatziki sauce which have helped with that. The fries were good and I really like that they were topped with some cheese. I think it was feta. The staff were very nice abd helpful. The vibe was casual, and relaxing. The restaurant was clean and maintained. I'm glad I tried it but I probably wouldn't try it again unless I'm close by and need something fast.

I absolutely love pita gr! I come here regularly to dine in. On a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, I tried to order online and I think the system was down. Placed a call and was left on hold. I enjoy the food so much, I went to order in person. It did not appear to be busy, cooks and staff looked at me while I waited to order. After almost 10 minutes someone came to take my order. I ordered Zucchini chips, half chicken gyro, and a beef/lamb gyro wrap. Unfortunately the take out was not theirs best quality of food. Maybe because it was close to their closing time. Fried zucchini was burnt and when bit into, it tasted like grease. That was a bummer because their zucchini is one of my favorite dishes. I also did not expect the half chicken to be chopped into tiny tiny pieces like that. I should have asked that before ordering. Overall their food is great when you dine in, I do not recommend take out. Try their zucchini, spicy dip, zeus fries and their chicken skewers! Dine in food is delicious and it's always clean inside the restaurant.

The food is amazing. We had the pork pita and the beef/lamb pita with the Greek salad, the way the flavors blend together in your mouth, the fries had the perfect crunch, will definitely come again. Shoutout to the workers too, super friendly and their recommendations were definitely on point.

came here during my break to get lunch looking for something pretty healthy and honestly this is a good spot. i got a chicken salad it came with garlic fries, pita, and a really good salad with feta and red notions, and lettuce with kale it comes with sauce but tasted really good without it too the portion was also really big so i had a lunch for that day and the next. the fries are thin cut which i love and the seasoning was super good. everything was seriously a nice about to flavor, i don't like my food over seasoned so this was just what i needed. service was pretty fast especially since there were a few orders in while we came. even though i came here for takeout i saw each type of person come in: family, couple, pick up for catering, so they do it all and the vibe is chill yet corporate, it's like greek food made into a fast food restaurant, but i love it cuz honestly we need that, can't just be relying on that trip to vegas to have mad greek lol i'll def be coming back here again

This place was recommended by a Facebook Foodie Page, so I thought I would give it a try as part of my Mediterranean food extravaganza. I tried various dishes at over a dozen Mediterranean restaurants in a 6-month period. The flavors of the gyro were good. But I felt like the protein portion for the gyro was very small compared to gyros from other similar locations. Along with the gyro, I had the Zucchini fries. They looked great, just like the photos I had previously seen online. Unfortunately, they were very oily and greasy and not like I expected. The staff was friendly. Parking was super easy. The price of the gyro was comparable to other similar locations.

Big shoutout to Gil at Pita GR on Florence & Paramount! He was very kind, attentive, professional, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. He took our order exactly the way we asked and even gave us great recommendations that made the experience even better. Especially on such a busy Mother's Day, Gil stayed attentive the entire time, constantly checking if we needed anything else, bringing extra pita, extra utensils, and always serving with a great attitude. You could tell he was always cleaning, organizing, and making sure customers were comfortable. Thank you, Gil, for making our family time feel so warm and comfortable. This place use to be so damn good. I was ordering from here weekly. When I was pregnant I was ordering here 2-3x a week! I see my review was from 7 years ago so it's time for an update. The last 2-3 years has been hit or miss. I order the same thing everytime. And sometimes the sweet potato is cooked well and other times it's still hard and I have to cook it myself at home. I sent them a video of how uncooked it was last year and she offered a refund which I never saw back in my bank. I didn't go back for months after this because I was annoyed that the is was happening so much and I was so disappointed each time. Yesterday I messaged them to please cook the potatoes welldone and I must have pissed someone off because they left off the halloumi cheese - the best part of the salad and the part that's prob worth anything $. I'm so over it and feel so unappreciated as a customer that was coming multiple times a week. read more

Absolutely the most horrible service. I went and placed an order at the restaurant. They told me about 10-15 minutes. There was no people. It took 30 minutes my order was wrong and while waiting the female cook got into an argument with the guy who was taking orders. Very rude unprofessional and when a client ask them to correct their order they would make a face. read more

This is one of my favorite lunches during work! They're like a CAVA dupe with some really cool menu options like a Greek-inspired chicken Caesar wrap. The portions are also REALLY generous - my bowl was definitely enough to last two meals! It's filled with veggies, salad, rice, condiments, and lots of meat. read more

I've been ordering takeout from this spot since it opened, but today I finally stayed--and I'm glad I did. I brought my laptop, grabbed a table, and enjoyed a relaxed lunch while getting a bit of work done. Having visited Greece twice in the past 3 years, I can honestly say Pita GR captures those fresh, authentic street food flavors. The space is simple and clean with a nice Athenian feel--plants, light, and no clutter. I ordered the pork souvlaki plate, and it was generous and delicious: two skewers of perfectly grilled pork, salad, basmati rice, pita, and your choice of sauce. Everything was full of flavor. Before leaving, I tried the iced coffee--and that was the highlight. Smooth, balanced, and not overly sweet, just like you'd find in Europe. Just a heads-up: this isn't fast food, so it takes a few minutes--but it's absolutely worth the wait. Definitely coming back. If you haven't tried it yet, it's well worth a visit. read more

Just discovered this place I've tried it three times so far because it's so good BUT the last time I went in the owner was yelling at ALL the employees about one employees appearance..(facial hair) . I've worked in the food industry for years and this is NOT the way you address an issue in the work place . Especially when the restaurant was full of customers. I will not be returning here due to the rude behavior of the owner . I feel bad for the employees that had to deal with that even though it wasn't their fault . Very humiliating for them when they did nothing wrong . read more

Excellent experience provided by Gil! He provided outstanding customer service from beginning to end. He was extremely attentive, organized, and made sure our order was exactly right. Even during a high volume time the restaurant was receiving, the restaurant was very clean and well maintained, and Gil stayed on top of everything the entire time. Employees like him are the reason customers come back. The owner should know they have a very high-quality employee representing their business. Truly a 10/10 experience! The parking is in the back and you place your order by the door you enter. The nice-sized seating area is on the opposite side where it's nicely lit with a big TV, and an exit door. The beef/lamb gyro was very good and the fries were even better, perfectly seasoned with some Parmesan cheese. The place is clean, and service was good & quick. Definitely should check it out! read more

I loved this place. I loved the food, except for today. My daughter was driving down from San Francisco and called me , she said Dad can you pick up my to go order, I said sure. I got there and was greeted by Abby , she said the order was not ready would be about 5 min. I waited... she served many other customers and placed a lot of to go orders on a side table. I waited about 10 min and again I asked about my order , she said it's been on the to go order table , I said why didn't you tell me!!! I've been waiting there!!! She the order included a frozen yogurt and the person that serves the yogurt is busy. I said WTF , my food has been sitting there for 10 min and it's probably cold by now. Abby said " I know and sorry but í dont serve the frozen yogurt. The other employee finally came over and served me the frozen yogurt. I confronted Abby about my food, I said it's probably cold, she didn't give a damn. I can't believe the despicable service I received today. When I got home my daughter's food was cold! ** ABBY YOU SUCK ! **** I'll walk out next time I go if Abby is there!! I asked for manager but Abby said none were in, Wow! read more

Omg I guess the Caesar salad chicken wrap is a new item on their menu and the flavor is so good!! They use an almond ranch. The pita chips they add in are also nice and unique, but too much was added in my wrap. I think next time I will say less pita chips more chicken. read more

This place is easily a favorite! My office is nearby and I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything bad about Pita GR. My go-to is the pork belly yeero plate, it cames with rice, tomato, pickled red onion, feta cheese, fries, chives and tzatziki. It is so good. I can't seem to pull myself away from this order hahaah. Many of my coworkers tend to order the chicken plate, their wraps, or their Zeus fries. I've picked at my coworkers fries and they're tasty haha. Oh, also, their frozen yogurt is DELICIOUS. I've tried the honey and cherry, both are great! I usually order take out or delivery but I've dined in once. It's well kept and clean. Definitely order early and expect an additional 10-20 mins if you order during lunch time. They get busy!!! I usually try to order first thing in the morning. read more

I've been here to get food to go and it's never disappointing. I got to eat inside this time and it was nice. Big dining room, they have a tv for sports. Very clean and bright. Service was great, no issues. I was sad the ice cream machine was down but I'll be back again. It's the closet Mediterranean restaurant near me. read more

The meat was great and full of flavor, salad was fresh with a nice tangy dressing and the fries were good. It was super easy to call and order, and the staff was friendly. I tried their potato, olive, and garlic dip but I definitely wish I had gotten just normal hummus. (The Olive taste was too strong for my liking). But the flavor here is explosive. This place was recommended to us and it was our first time trying this place. We were first to arrive when the doors opened. The young man was very helpful with explaining the menu and was able to accommodate our needs. We finally placed our order and we decided to dine in. The restaurant has a big seating area and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was. What I noticed about the place is how accommodating they are. I noticed little details like hooks under the tables to hang bags etc. as well as a small ramp for wheelchairs at one of the doors which I don't often see at restaurants. The little added details and how this place was built understands and shows how they accommodate to customer needs. The food finally arrived and was served in a disposable paper container. We were dining in and had thought the food would be placed on a plate. They use a lot of paper ware and plastic materials which may be costly inventory or wasteful material to the environment. The food that came out was not what looked to be advertised and it was different than what we expected. The amount/portion was not a decent amount for what you pay. I think the food is overpriced for what you get. The extra sauces were also expensive just for a small side. The pita served were so small as well. We thought our plate came with hummus as per the advertised photo but it seemed they didn't give it because when we asked for a side, they used that side in place for the hummus. We had to pay for extra hummus (a small container) so we can eat our pita. When we asked for pita, everything was extra and cost additional. The small sides were not cheap. The food was okay. Overpriced imo for a simple salad and a small plate of items. The decor did look nice and the restaurant looked clean. The service was good however. The young man served us our food and tried to accommodate our needs much as possible. read more

Just stopped by Pita GR for some Greek eats and it didn't disappoint. I got the Zeus fries loaded with beef/lamb gyro meat and it was massive - totally hit the spot. What I loved most? They don't skimp on the tzatziki sauce here, unlike other places. The fries were just the right amount of crispy and the gyro meat was spot on - well cooked and seasoned. My wife had the braised lamb pita, which was good, but she kept eyeing my gyro meat. Can't go wrong with the classic. Service was a tad slow giving us our food, but it was all good. It happens sometimes. This was our 3rd time coming here and this seemed like an outlier. The place has a really cozy feel to it with all the warm, bright colors, perfect for this chilly evening. I love all the string lights casting a golden glow. Plus, there's plenty of parking, which is always a win. Prices are reasonable too compared to others. Finally a little touch of creativity and originality in Downey. I've been waiting for a strong Greek concept to come to Downey. I grew up with lots of Greek friends and have attended the Downey Greek Festival since I was little. Pita GR brings a much needed highly developed menu without the stuffiness of a full service sit down restaurant. The food is incredible. I recommend that you order things "family style". Last time, my friends and I ordered a few different "Kilos" of lamb and pork and a few different sides. It was more than enough to eat but the real treat was the quality of the meat and vegetables. I ordered the chicken gyro with the chef's modern take on it & I just felt it was drenched in sauce, it felt too heavy, the chicken was burnt on one side so it tasted over charred & nothing about the contents of the gyro was fresh. The fries weren't anything to write home about, but I did add an extra star for the customer service because they were pleasant.
