I kept it simple since I wasn't exactly sure what I was craving, back to the basics, as they say. I ordered a simple lomo saltado, since I know exactly what it is and what I should be getting. The meat was well-seasoned. The fries did come out crispy, but they soaked up the sauce really quickly and got soggy fast. The sauce itself wasn't really my favorite as it leaned a bit too sweet and was a bit too watery for my taste. That said, the portions are definitely generous. I love this place, live around the block so it's very local. The seafood rice is my favorite dish, you can have it with yellow rice or Asian style, I switch it up. The bread is usually good but they didn't toast it the last time I went.. We just had the empanadas and the rellas (potato and meat fried balls) bomb digity!!! Been coming to Fernando's for years for their lomo saltado. It used to be a perfect meal however after 2020 the meat quality hasn't been the same. Though it's on the pricier side, the lomo is still worth getting. It's well seasoned, the fries soak up the savory sauce without getting too soggy and they give a decent portion size for this particular meal. I've dined in a few times and the service is not the best but I'll usually order to go. Recently they stopped including complimentary bread for take out orders so that was a bummer. Still one of the better spots around, just not what it used to be. read more

The Ceviche was delicious by far best ceviche i have ever had in a restaurant setting. The Lucuma always hits the spot so yummy. The Alfajores were the worst ive ever had, it should melt in your mouth not try to break your teeth. Service was awful, our waitress was rude and chewing away at her gum as she spoke to us. Gross! Another person took our order that looked like he was the chef, because our waitress was gossiping with another waitress. I'm so mad. I pretty much grew up in Downey, lived her for years as an adult and worked nearby and I just discovered this place. So many years wasted not having the excellent Peruvian food. Everything was delicious. If I have to pick one from this visit, I'd choose the Arroz con Mariscos as the top dish. Don't forget to use the green sauce that's on the table. It does have a kick and I usually can't take it, but I kept going back to it. It was addicting. The service was wonderful and the server was helpful and friendly. I cannot wait to go back. As soon as we walked in the whole group I was with , were greeted and seated at a large table. The waitress asked everyone for their drink order. The service is very prompt. I came in during a slow period and it started off alright place is nicely decorated, good music. One of the ladies sat me down and told me to scan for the menu. From there it just went downhill the other lady that came out looked like she hated her job. She took my order and as she's standing on the corner I see her sticking her finger in her ear and wiping her mouth with her hands. And then she goes into her kitchen and brings out my Leche De Tigre. I had to send it back for more Lemon because it tasted flavorless and I had to season it on the table to be able to eat it. It was also Swai which isn't a good fish for Peruvian Ceviche. From there I got my Papa Rellena but when I tried to take a bite it was burnt too hard I couldn't break into the crust. When I slammed the fork down and tried a bit it was mostly potato and no seasoning with the crust as hard as a rock. The only thing that got this place any stars at all was Chupe de Camarón. It had a decent taste which saved me from being disappointed about making the drive to get here. One thing is they need to work on not over cooking the shrimp because it was beyond chewy. Overall would not recommend, bad service alone is killer when you are dying of thirst and no one is bothering to refill your water. read more

We were looking for a restaurant that was sort of in the middle of us and friends in Whittier. And I am incredibly glad we find it. Their food is really good. The restaurant had tons of seating and I love the decor, and the staff is so nice! I ordered the lomo saltado, my husband ordered the aji de gallina and our friend ordered the chaufa marisco.
